Final Fantasy Record Keeper Behemoth King Magicite Fight
The fights in the 5-star Magicite Dungeons in the Final Fantasy Record Keeper (FFRK) mobile game are quest level 400.
Behemoth King is the 5-star lightning Magicite that’s weak to the earth element and who takes reduced damage against physical attacks.
My lightning tech is really lacking so wouldn’t have bothered with this fight for now but since there was a time limited mission associated with clearing this quest, I decided to give it a try with an off-element team.
In short, I tried bringing my physical fire elemental team to this battle. My team was:
Genesis Rhapsodos from Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII
Currently, Genesis Rhapsodos from Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII (#ad) is my absolute, most favorite Final Fantasy char. He’s the reason why I’m playing Final Fantasy Record Keeper.
Genesis is a physical fire elemental DPS. Have all of his Soul Breaks.
Limit Break Overstrike (LBO), Light of Doom
Synchro Arcane Soul Break (SASB), Purgatorial Wave
Awakened Arcane Soul Break (AASB), Genesis Rhapsody
Arcane Overstrike Soul Break (AOSB), SOLDIER’s Epic
Ultra Soul Break (USB), Apocalypse Genesis
Glint+ Soul Break 1 (G+1), Epic of Creation
Glint+ Soul Break 2 (G+2), Epic of Heroism
Glint Soul Break (G), Epic of Destruction
Legend Materia Relic (LMR), Fierce Opposition
Genesis has max Crystal Waters for all the stats - HP, Attack, Defense, Magic, Resistance, and Mind.
Yeah, he doesn’t need magic and mind, but I don’t care. I want to give him all the stats anyway.
Genesis has over 500 Magia points. He has 100 in the fire attack, attack, defense, resistance, and HP stats then 10 each for the defense stat of all the elements.
Genesis’s Record Board was the first one I ever completed. His Hero Ability, Genesis Slash, was the first one I ever created.
Anyway, I wasn’t sure if using an off-element team was gonna work for the Behemoth King fight but I had to try. And honestly, I would love to use Genesis everywhere.
Sometimes, I wish he wasn’t locked to the fire element. I mean, I get why fire’s his element.
Still, I wish his Awakening gave him Awoken Spellblade Mode instead of Awoken Fire Mode so he can make use of the other elemental Spellblade abilities too.
Well, he can use them, but his relics don’t have synergy with these abilities unless they also have fire attached to them.
Even Genesis’s Hero Ability is pure fire. At the very least, I wish it could have included non-elemental or even just dual element or something.
What about dark? That fits too, right? Someday, I hope Genesis gets relics for other elements. Well, why not?
Other chars get (*cough* Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII * cough* Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy VII *cough*) multiple relics for different elements.
Hell, Cloud has Syncs and AASBs for the wind and dark elements. His Hero Ability is dual element and he keeps getting new relics even though he already has a ton. It’s not fair, is it?
I wish other chars (like Genesis) can get some more attention too, especially those who don’t even have a Sync yet or who only have a few relics so far.
At least Genesis already has a Sync, but I know there are other chars who don’t even have 1 whereas you have chars like Cloud who have 2 already and are set to get more. Like seriously, FFRK, give others a chance, please.
Balthier (Ffamran mied Bunansa) from Final Fantasy XII
Chain Soul Break 2 (CSB2), Incendiary Trap
AASB, Untouchable Hellfire
G+2, Scarlet Sky Fluke
Burst Soul Break 1 (BSB1), Gatling Gun
BSB2, Spark of Change
USB2, Edge of Treachery
Balthier has a really good physical fire Chain. This Chain buffs fire damage and increases the party’s attack. Balthier can also imperil the fire element.
Vincent Valentine from Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy VII
Vincent is my secondary DPS. Have a few of his relics, including his AASB and Sync.
Even have his fire Chain although I don’t use it for this team since it boosts magic instead of physical attack.
Tyro from Final Fantasy Record Keeper
AASB, Fantasy Grimoire Vol. I
Arcane Overstrike Soul Break 3 (AOSB3), Triple Phase
USB4, Arbiter’s Tome
USB3, Divine Veil Grimoire
USB1, Warder’s Apocrypha
Glint Soul Break (G), Purifying Grimoire
Burst Soul Break (BSB), Keeper’s Tome
Unique Soul Break 2, Sentinel’s Grimoire
Legend Materia Relic 1 (LMR1), Archival Secrets
Tyro’s here to Wrath and Entrust and support the party. He will cast his AASB then USB4 when he has enough bars to do so. The aforementioned Soul Breaks can increase the party’s critical hit chance.
Lenna Charlotte Tycoon from Final Fantasy V
Lenna served as my healer, support, and buffer. Have a few of her Soul Breaks, including both of her Awakenings and one or more of her Ultra Soul Breaks.
She can speed up the party. She can dance the Passionate Salsa to debuff enemies. She can even resurrect dead allies via her AASB1.
Behemoth King absorbs the earth element and resists all the other elements except earth so I had to stack imperil fire in order to deal damage.
Managed to make it work though. Even got sub-30 with the battle ending at 27.51 seconds. Nice.
As always, I’m extra pleased whenever I can bring Genesis to fights where he normally wouldn’t be brought and whenever I can make him work in these quests.
Conclusion
So what about you? Have you tried any of the 5-star Magicite fights yet? What do you think about these quests? Feel free to share your thoughts and opinions by leaving a comment below or by reblogging or replying to this post.

Final Fantasy Record Keeper Current Progress Part 6
Here’s a list of my current progress in the Final Fantasy Record Keeper (#ad) (FFRK) mobile game.
5-star Fire Magicite, Belias
Belias is the 5-star Fire Magicite who is weak to the water element and who takes reduced damage against physical attacks.
Unfortunately, just like my ice tech, I’m also lacking in magical water relics so I had to take on this fight with a physical water team. To make matters worse, my physical water team was positively subpar when compared to my ice team or even my fire team. I don’t even have a water Sync, and I barely have any water-type AASBs. Yeah, it’s that bad. Still, I wanted to give it a try.
My Magicite deck was:
Famfrit (XII) - Dampen Fire Level 10 and Health Boon Level 5
Geosgaeno (X) - 2 Empower Water Level 15
Madeen (IX) - Healing Boon Level 15 and Health Boon Level 5
Madeen (IX) - 2 Attack Boon Level 20 - thanks to beating Typhon, I now have Attack Boon Level 20
Phoenix (VI) - Spell Ward Level 5 and Blade Ward Level 8
My team was:
Yuffie Kisaragi from Final Fantasy VII
partial Record Board - got her attack tiles and some of her defense, HP, and resistance tiles
100 Magia in attack stat and 93 in water attack stat
AASB1, Sublime Doom
AOSB1, Freewheeling Bloodfest
USB2, Freewheeling Gauntlet
G+1, Ebb and Flow
G1, Freewheeling Reflection
CSB, Smoke Shell
LMR, Finders Keepers
equipped with Azure Unending. Also ended up making Aquatic Weakness, an ability that imperils the water element
Mako Might Record Materia
Aeris or Aerith Gainsborough from Final Fantasy VII
complete Record Board
100 Magia in mind and HP stats, 50 Magia in defense and resistance stats
AASB, Star Pulse
USB1, Hidden Bloom
USB2, Innocent Cure
G+1, Refreshing Breeze
G+2, Star Whisper
Unique Soul Break, Planet Protector
LMR, Flower of the Slums
equipped with Dispel and Ultra Cure
Dr. Mog’s Teachings Record Materia
Tyro - Wrath, Entrust, and support as usual.
Tidus from Final Fantasy X
partial Record Board - didn’t get his Camaraderie tile
100 Magia in attack stat
Arcane Dyad Soul Break (ADSB) or True Arcane Soul Break (TASB), Apex Blitz Ace
USB1, Day to Remember
USB2, Quick Rush
CSB, A Fleeting Dream
G+, Sphere Form
equipped with Trinity Bombshell and Omega Drive
Scholar’s Boon Record Materia
Elarra - this time, I had her singing the Warrior’s Hymn and Ode to Victory.
Since I have Yuffie’s AASB, I initially had her as my main DPS. Had Tidus use his water Chain to support her. Her damage was laughably bad though, even under the effects of her Awakening. She wasn’t breaking the damage cap at all. I was disappointed. It’s been a while since I last used her, but I didn’t remember her being this bad.
I guess it’s also because this isn’t exactly the best water team. Tidus’s Chain wasn’t that good either. In fact, the whole time I was doing the fight, IIRC, no one was able to break the damage cap at all, so much so that I was surprised I actually managed to win.
For my next try, I decided to use Yuffie’s water Chain and have Tidus as my DPS instead. Tidus turned out to be much better than Yuffie thanks to his TASB and his USB2, both of which actually enabled him to break the damage cap a few times. Was pleased to see his ADSB dealing some pretty good numbers. With better support and better relics for him (wish I have his Syncs and his AASB), I think he’ll be able to hit much harder.
Magicite Passives List
Here’s a list of passives that can be obtained from 5-star Magicite fights. Not all passives are listed though. Didn’t bother to list the Empower Elements and the Dampen Elements since I already got those from the 4-star Magicites.
Precise Strikes Level 10 - Increases the critical hit chance of all allies. Can be obtained from Behemoth King or Manticore
Fast Act Level 10 - Reduces the action delay of all allies. Can be obtained from Quetzalcoatl
Blade Ward Level 8 - Decreases physical damage taken by all allies. Can be obtained from Geosgaeno or Mateus
Spell Ward Level 8 - Decreases magic damage taken by all allies. Can be obtained from Famfrit
Deadly Strikes Level 10 - Increases the critical hit damage of all allies. Can be obtained from Belias
Health Boon Level 8 - Increases the HP of all allies, proportional to combined Magicite stats. Can be obtained from Phoenix
Attack Boon Level 20 - Increases the Attack of all allies, proportional to combined Magicite stats. Can be obtained from Typhon
Magic Boon Level 20 - Increases the Magic of all allies, proportional to combined Magicite stats. Can be obtained from Syldra
Defense Boon Level 20 - Increases the Defense of all allies, proportional to combined Magicite stats. Can be obtained from Adamantoise
Resistance Boon Level 20 - Increases the Resistance of all allies, proportional to combined Magicite stats. Can be obtained from Hecatoncheir
Healing Boon Level 15 - Increases the effect of healing on all allies. Can be obtained from Lakshmi
Mind Boon Level 20 - Increases the Mind of all allies, proportional to combined Magicite stats. Can be obtained from Ark
Final Fantasy I Dreams Dungeons Infernal
The Dreams Dungeons quests range from Ultimate (level 180) to Infernal (level 350). I’ve been able to do the level 180 quests on auto although haven’t had the time to finish all of them yet. I think I’ve only done a few of the Infernal quests so far since haven’t really had the time to get through all of these. What’s the rush anyway, right?
Well, I was content to ignore all these permanent content for as long as possible but then these limited time missions showed up. These missions include doing some of the Cardia Dungeons (Dreams are part of this) with at least 3 chars from the same realm.
One of these realms was Final Fantasy I. I don’t have a lot of Soul Breaks for the FF1 realm so I decided to try the Final Fantasy I Dreams fights with a modified version of my fire team. By that, I mean that I grabbed 3 chars from FF1 then 2 of the chars from my fire team then put them together then proceeded to auto all the FF1 Dreams quests. Surprisingly, it actually worked.
I brought my Level 120 Final Fantasy VII Historia Crystal to all these fights since my main DPS was from FF7. My team was:
Genesis Rhapsodos from Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII
Limit Break Overstrike (LBO), Light of Doom
Synchro Arcane Soul Break (SASB), Purgatorial Wave
Awakened Arcane Soul Break (AASB), Genesis Rhapsody
Arcane Overstrike Soul Break (AOSB), SOLDIER’s Epic
Ultra Soul Break (USB), Apocalypse Genesis
Glint+ Soul Break 1 (G+1), Epic of Creation
Glint+ Soul Break 2 (G+2), Epic of Heroism
Glint Soul Break (G), Epic of Destruction
Legend Materia Relic (LMR), Fierce Opposition
100 Magia in the fire attack, attack, defense, resistance, and HP stats then 10 each for the defense stat of all the elements
complete Record Board
equipped with his Hero Ability, Genesis Slash, and Inferno Assault
Twisted Creator Record Materia - deal much more physical damage when a sword is equipped
Yeah, Genesis is my most built char in this game. I'd bring him to all the battles if I could. That’s because Genesis is currently my most favorite Final Fantasy char. He’s the reason why I’m playing Final Fantasy Record Keeper.
Balthier (Ffamran mied Bunansa) from Final Fantasy XII
partial Record Board - got the attack and HP tiles and some of the defense and resistance tiles
has 107 Magia points but looks like I forgot to use them. Whoops
CSSB2, Incendiary Trap
AASB, Untouchable Hellfire
G+2, Scarlet Sky Fluke
BSB1, Gatling Gun
BSB2, Spark of Change
equipped with Burnt Offering and Flame Offering
Mako Might
I brought Balthier to support Genesis. He’s here to imperil the fire element and cast his fire Chain Soul Break to buff and increase Genesis’s damage.
Garland from Final Fantasy I
Unlocked his 3, 4, and 5-star Spheres but didn’t bother to get any of the tiles on his Record Board. I have his Chain Soul Break, but it’s for the dark element so didn’t even bother to equip it for this fight. He’s equipped with the Touched by Darkness and Demon’s Cross abilities as well as his Ultra Soul Break, Source of Hatred, not that any of this matters at all since he hit like a wet noodle and was only really here so I could get the limited rewards.
Warrior of Light from Final Fantasy I
The same could be said for the Warrior of Light although I actually have a few more of his relics, including his AASB, Oversoul. He also hits like a wet noodle though, likely because I didn’t get his Record Board and didn’t even give him a 6-star ability.
Sarah from Final Fantasy I
Sarah served as my healer although, obviously, if I had the choice, I’d bring someone else. I only have 2 relics for her - USB2, Crystal's Gleam, and G1, Love of Cornelia. Didn’t bother to bring the G1 since it doesn’t even heal. I don’t have her G+ that grants the party Protect, Shell, and Haste, and I don’t want to spend Lenses to get it, so I had to equip her with the Hastega ability. Her second slot has Curada. She worked well enough. Too bad I don’t have more of her relics.
Final Fantasy V Dreams Dungeons Infernal
Also managed to do the Final Fantasy V Dreams Dungeons Infernal quest. Of course, I brought Genesis as my main DPS again with Balthier to support him. The rest of the team was:
Gilgamesh from Final Fantasy V - have his fire Chain Soul Break. Used to use him before I got Balthier. His Chain isn’t that bad, but he can’t equip the Machinist abilities that imperil fire so I prefer Balthier.
Bartz Klauser from Final Fantasy V - have his wind Sync and one of his Glints but didn’t bother to get his Record Board. He’s equipped with Snowspell Strike but he hits like a wet noodle even under the effects of his Sync.
Lenna Charlotte Tycoon from Final Fantasy V - actually happen to have a near complete Lenna (the relics I’m missing for her can be bought from the The Record Lab), including both of her Awakenings and her Sync as well as her so-called “best” USB so I got most of her Record Board. She’s equipped with Passionate Salsa and Curada.
Final Fantasy X Dreams Dungeons Infernal
For this fight, the chars from Final Fantasy X that I brought were:
Jecht - have his AASB1, not that it matters since he ended up hitting like a wet noodle even when equipped with 6-star abilities.
Auron - have his Sync, AASB, 2 of his Ultras, his Glint+, and 1 of his Burst Soul Breaks (BSB). Auron is actually my secondary fire DPS. He’s part of my fire team alongside Genesis and Balthier. I use him often though nowadays I also sometimes use Vincent Valentine (from Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy VII) instead of him.
Yuna - served as the party’s healer. I have her holy Chain, but of course it didn’t get equipped for this fight. Have her AOSB although since she’s more of a support than an attacker and she was here to heal, didn’t bother to equip this either. She’s equipped with the only Ultra Soul Break I have for her. This is her bad USB since it doesn’t activate instantly. At least it grants Haste though so I didn’t need to slot in Hastega.
Final Fantasy I D450 Torment Dungeon
There are also time limited rewards for bringing at least 3 Final Fantasy I chars and clearing the FF1 D450 Torment Dungeon. Didn’t think I could auto this, at least not if I’m also bringing 2 off-realm chars (there's a penalty if you bring off-realm chars to the fight. The more in-realm chars you bring, the better). So had to do the fight manually.
Tried the same team that I used to take on the FFI Dreams Dungeon, and it worked out well enough, but clearly improvements could still be made since the fight ended well after 30 seconds. Since we had to do the fight several times to get all the rewards, I tried again and kept tweaking my setup and team.
Ended up dropping Garland and replacing him with Wol. I have his Awakening and one of his Bursts, but it didn’t matter for this fight since that wasn’t the reason why I brought him. I chose him over Garland because Wol can equip the Wrath and Entrust abilities. So he acted as my support, giving gauges to Sarah, Balthier and Genesis.
Due to the penalty for bringing 2 off-realm chars to this quest, I needed Balthier to not just use his Chain, but also his Burst Soul Break so he could stack imperil fire. This meant he needed a lot of gauges so Wol mostly Entrusted to him and occasionally to Sarah so she could keep up with the healing. Borrowed the healing Roaming Warrior too since I wasn’t gonna use the FF1 Realm Chain anyway.
Had Genesis equipped with Omega Drive so he could build more gauges on his own. The Warrior of Light’s Ultra grants allies a barrier that reflects a portion of the damage they take back to the attackers and it can also remove delay from all allies’ actions for one turn so I had him spam that. Sarah focused on healing, casting Hastega on her first turn then spamming Ultra Cure (would have brought Curada since it’s better but this boss likes to debuff so I needed the Esuna from Ultra Cure) until she had enough bars to activate her USB.
Genesis was able to deal good damage once everything was setup. Really glad that I was able to get the win although couldn’t do it within 30 seconds. I’m off by like 5 seconds. Eh, it’s fine. I’ll revisit this later on. Only kept trying until I was able to get all the time limited rewards. I can go back to sub-30 some other time. Maybe I’ll have more FF1 relics by then.
Final Fantasy V D450 Torment Dungeon
For my first clear, I brought the same team as before except I dropped Gilgamesh for Faris Scherwiz (Sarisa Scherwil Tycoon) because she can use Wrath and Entrust. Since I had Bartz’s Sync, I wanted him to act as my secondary DPS except his damage was so meh.
On subsequent tries, I just dropped him since he wasn’t really contributing to this team anyway. I brought back Gilgamesh, mostly because he can use the Banishing Strike ability which dispels an enemy.
The boss here likes to buff himself, and I really need to dispel that. Lenna can equip the dispel ability but that would mean having to drop Passionate Salsa since I also need Ultra Cure for the status effects. It was a bit of a dilemma until I decided to just drop Bartz. Now Gilgamesh can dispel the enemy while Lenna can dance the Salsa and esuna the status effects.
Once again, stacking imperil fire was the name of the game. Needed to get everything setup before having Genesis activate his Soul Breaks so he could basically solo the entire fight with support from his team mates. Got the win, but no sub-30 again. Ah, well. That’s okay. I’m more than pleased that I was able to use Genesis against these kinds of fights where you’re practically required to bring a full realm team to make things easier for you.
Final Fantasy IV Dreams Dungeons Infernal
Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to try the Final Fantasy X D450 Torment Dungeon before the time limited missions for those ended. Ran out of time. Whoops. It’s fine though. Now there are new time limited missions, and this time they’re all about Final Fantasy IV.
The FF4 chars I brought to the Infernal Dreams fight were:
Edward Chris von Muir - don’t have any of his relics but he can sing the Warrior’s Hymn and Ode to Victory so I brought him to buff my fave Genesis’s stats.
Paladin Cecil Harvey - have one of his USBs and BSBs. Since he can equip Ultra Cure, had him act as my secondary healer.
Rosa Joanna Farrell - she was my main healer. Actually have her AASB and one of her Ultras. Equipped her with Holyja so she’d spam that under her AASB and heal the party with her follow-ups.
Final Fantasy VII Realm Banner
Just got a Realm/Elemental x11 ticket and decided to use it on the Final Fantasy VII Realm banner. Got 3 disco orbs, but Dr. Mog didn’t show up, and ended up getting 2 dupes. One was a dupe of Cloud’s wind Awakening. Meh. Wish that had been his Sync or his dark Awakening instead.
Didn’t bother to take notes since this pull was really quite disappointing but it looks like the new relic I got belongs to Tifa Lockhart. It might be her Overstrike Soul Break (OSB).
The other dupe I got was Genesis’s Ultra Soul Break. That was really the only reason why I bothered to screenshot this pull. It’s always nice to see his relics, but I already have all of them so it’s hard not to be disappointed with the results of this draw. It felt like a waste of a ticket.
If I was gonna get dupes of Genesis’s relics, I wish it had been his AOSB or his Awakening instead since at least those can be ranked up, and I’ve yet to max out either. Too bad his Ultra can’t be ranked up.
Also, his Ultra comes from his Dirge of Cerberus outfit while his Arcane Overstrike Soul Break comes from his Crisis Core outfit. I prefer the latter. But it seems like I keep getting his USB.
Final Fantasy II Dreams Dungeons Infernal
Time limited missions for the Final Fantasy II Cardia Dungeons have just shown up so once again I brought Genesis, Balthier and 3 chars from FFII to auto these fights. The 3 FFII chars I ended up going with were:
Firion - have his Awakening but haven’t really invested in him, so, unsurprisingly, he hit like a wet noodle.
Josef - surprised to find I actually have one of his Ultras. It imperils ice but at least it also grants everyone a damage reduction barrier.
Hilda - my healer. Only had her Glint+ which grants the party Protect, Shell, and Haste. That allowed me to forego having to bring Hastega. But I did have to buy her Ultra from the The Record Lab. It seems like she could be pretty good if I have more relics for her since she can sing and dance like Elarra. So apart from keeping everyone alive, she also buffed their attack and debuffed enemies.
Final Fantasy IV D450 Torment Dungeon
Managed to do the Final Fantasy IV D450 Torment Dungeon on manual using the same team I used to auto the FFIV Dreams Dungeon. Couldn’t get the sub-30 yet though.
5-star Fire Magicite, Phoenix
Phoenix is the 5-star Fire Magicite who is weak to the water element and who takes reduced damage against magic and ninjutsu attacks. For this fight, I brought the same team that I used to take on Belias. Well, it wasn’t like I had much of a choice anyway. As aforementioned, my water tech is sorely lacking.
Surprisingly, managed to win this fight within 30 seconds. Got the win at 27.47 seconds. I suppose it really helped that Phoenix is actually weak to physical water attacks so Yuffie and Tidus were able to deal pretty decent damage, especially once Tyro, Elarra and Aerith buffed them as much as possible.
5-star Water Magicite, Famfrit
Famfrit is the 5-star Water Magicite who is weak to the lightning element and who takes reduced damage against magic and ninjutsu attacks.
If my water-type relics are sorely lacking, then my lightning tech is basically nonexistent. I don’t even have a lightning Chain or Sync. I think I have like 1 or 2 lightning Awakenings. So, yeah, there was no way I could field a lightning team against Famfrit.
Thankfully, my fire team was able to get the victory. I brought Genesis, Vincent, Balthier, Tyro, and Elarra and even managed to get sub-30, winning the fight at 26.84 seconds.
Had Tyro and Elarra buff Genesis’s attack and increase his critical hit chance and critical hit damage. Balthier was there for his fire Chain. He also imperiled fire for Genesis. Vincent can also help imperil fire with his Sync command 1. And even he dealt pretty good damage once everything was set up.

Final Fantasy Record Keeper Manticore Magicite Fight
The fights in the 5-star Magicite Dungeons in the Final Fantasy Record Keeper (FFRK) mobile game are quest level 400.
Manticore is the 5-star Ice Magicite boss that takes reduced damage against physical attacks. He’s weak to the fire element, so you’re encouraged to beat him using a team made up of magical fire attackers.
Fire is my strongest element because that’s Genesis Rhapsodos’s (from Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII) main element.
Currently, Genesis Rhapsodos is my absolute, most favorite Final Fantasy VII (#ad) char. He’s the reason why I’m playing Final Fantasy Record Keeper.
Genesis is a physical attacker, and most of my fire relics deal physical damage, so I can’t field a magical fire team against Manticore.
So I decided to try taking on Manticore with my physical fire team. Prior to this, the only 5-star Magicite I’ve beaten was Mateus.
He’s the opposite of Manticore in that he’s also weak to fire but he takes reduced damage against magic and ninjutsu attacks.
Was able to auto the fight against Mateus, but I didn’t think that’d be possible for this fight, at least not if I’m bringing a physical team.
When I fought against Mateus, I used the Final Fantasy VII Historia Crystal since I didn’t have a decent 5-star Magicite deck back then.
IIRC, my FFVII Historia Crystal was still only at level 99 before since it wasn’t possible yet to increase its level to the max of 120. That was also back before new Books of Trials missions showed up.
Completing some of the missions in these Books will give you a few copies of all the 4-star Magicites and 1 copy of each 5-star Magicite, all at the max level of 99.
If you beat a 5-star Magicite, then you also get a level 99 copy of it. This let me put together a decent enough 5-star Magicite deck.
I still needed to farm a bit if I wanted to optimize said deck but it was serviceable enough for now, so I wanted to try using it for the Manticore fight.
My deck consisted of:
Belias (XII) with triple Empower Fire Level 15 and 1 Deadly Strikes Level 10
Madeen (IX) with Empower Holy Level 15, Surging Power Level 15, Healing Boon Level 15, and Health Boon Level 5
Madeen (IX) - Empower Holy Level 15, Surging Power Level 15, and 2 Attack Boon Level 16
Phoenix (VI) with Dampen Blizzard Level 10, Health Boon Level 8, Spell Ward Level 5, and Blade Ward Level 8
Behemoth King (XIII) with triple Empower Lightning Level 15 and 1 Precise Strikes Level 10
Yeah, I know, a lot of these passives are useless for this particular fight. Like I said, still working on my Magicite deck.
My physical fire team usually consisted of Genesis, Auron (from Final Fantasy X), Balthier (Ffamran mied Bunansa from Final Fantasy XII), Tyro (from Final Fantasy Record Keeper), and Elarra (from Final Fantasy Record Keeper).
Sometimes, I’d bring Aeris or Aerith Gainsborough (from Final Fantasy VII) in place of Elarra or I’d drop Tyro and bring both Elarra and Aerith.
Genesis was my main DPS with Auron acting as my secondary one. Balthier was my physical fire Chain holder. I do have his Awakening so he can be a DPS too but his main focus is on casting the fire Chain and imperiling the fire element.
Elarra heals and buffs the party’s attack. She also provides hi fastcast and critical hit damage up while Tyro Wraths and Entrusts and increases the party’s critical hit chance.
For the Manticore fight, I decided to drop Auron so I could try out Vincent Valentine (from Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy VII).
I completed Vincent’s Record Board, and I was debating on whether to get his Hero Ability or not. Couldn’t decide though. For now, I opted to just get him the Trinity Bombshell ability.
Brought the Fabula Raider Roaming Warrior since it temporarily raises the party’s attack.
Had Elarra use her Glint+ Soul Break, Magika Amuletum, for the instant Protect, Shell, and Haste for the entire party then she spammed Warrior’s Hymn with the occasional Passionate Salsa.
Used her USB1, Magika Album, whenever she can for the hi fastcast, heal, and Regenga. Ideally, while my DPS are already attacking, she should use her USB2, Magika Orare, for the critical hit damage up.
Tyro Wrath and Entrusted mostly to Balthier and Elarra. Ideally, he should cast his AASB at around the same time that Elarra’s using her Magika Orare while my DPS have their Syncs active and the fire Chain is up.
The effects of Fabula Raider should be up and active at around this time too. It doesn’t always work out due to mistakes being made such as tapping the wrong thing or being too slow to input commands, but when it works, the damage is absolutely amazing.
Balthier spams Burnt Offering to imperil fire. I have him cast his Chain Soul Break around the time that Genesis is activating his Sync.
If Balthier has the gauge to spare, then I get him to use his Awakening so he can contribute to the DPS although he doesn’t always get to hit that hard.
Vincent spammed Trinity Bombshell. He also has the Meltdown ability equipped, and I sometimes ended up tapping on that instead.
As soon as he could, had him activate his Sync then spammed his Sync Command 1, which imperils fire. Had it linked to Trinity Bombshell.
Once all the buffs are up and running, then Vincent hits pretty hard, being able to break the damage cap with his Sync Command 1 followed by Trinity Bombshell.
Had Genesis build up his gauge by spamming Omega Drive. Once he had 2 bars, then I had him activate his Glint+1 Soul Break and Glint+2 Soul Break followed by his Sync.
Then I had him use his Sync Command 2 once followed by his Sync Command 1 twice. Kept repeating the rotation until his Sync effect ran out.
Sometimes, I also opted to cast his Limit Break Overstrike (LBO) already if there are 3 limit gauges and the Chain was about to end.
If timed properly, Genesis can cast his LBO right before the Chain ends and it deals 99999x5 damage, which really takes off huge chunks of the enemy’s health. If the boss had low enough HP by then, this would sometimes end the fight already.
Super pleased that I was able to win with this team. Even managed to sub-30 the fight although Balthier ended up dying.
Was really impressed with Vincent too. He did very well. Now I’m tempted to get his Hero Ability.
As always, Genesis did very well. I really love seeing him being able to deal so much damage.
Conclusion
