There is just something about that one red carpet pic in particular, with how smol and vulnerable David looks. I do think it would be lovely if he had Michael on his arm, having him there to handle the photographers and be assertive in the way that David sometimes finds difficult to do himself. Plus David does look a bit cold in the late January chill, so he would probably more than welcome having Michael there to keep him warm. They just seem like they would make the loveliest couple walking the red carpet together...

The frame I made for the @unicornframes project! Check out the two versions and the individual frames here.

My contribution was a sliiiiiightly last minute one and as material I used all the lovely gifts I've received from various pirate pals over the last few years at cons or meets.

The background bandana, the two folded up bags and the row of five black-and-white buttons are from @feuerkindjana. The Rizzy button is from NeoPessimist. I don't remember who the various wristbands and other buttons are from.

But since the unicorn prosthetic was made by the crew using materials they had on hand, what better material for a frame than things I had on hand that came from fellow pirates? And obviously the note's in Dutch, we're an international crew :D

Radio silence from both Georgia and Anna with the occasional bs post from Anna about her “Mama’s Mabli Moo”. Wonder what they’ll do when the press tour begins. More specifically when Michael and David go on that show on Monday and everyone goes insane over them

Oh, so very much to unpack in such a brief period of time! Yes, we are finally getting Michael and David back together on a TV interview and I, for one, could not be more ecstatic.

To your points, Anons #1, I did notice that, apart from the Insta post you mentioned, Anna has also joined Threads. And now we also have the story that @phantomstars24 mentioned, and I just...

I do not at all believe it's a coincidence that she joined Threads when she did, just four days before Michael and David were to start doing interviews together. (Interestingly, Georgia does not appear to be on Threads, which is likely because she has other actual things to post about now that Staged has ended, whereas AL does not.) My supposition is further bolstered by AL's Insta story, which is a clear effort on her part to remain relevant, despite the fact that no one is going to be interested in this once tonight's One Show interview airs.

(Also, on what planet is any of the above "dirty talk"? Is this supposed to be a callback to/flat-out copy of Georgia's screencap of her text conversation with David about breakfast? Because it's not even close and the cringe is next level. At least we know she stayed in Wales this time...)

That said, whatever we are in store for on The One Show, it is most definitely going to be extraordinary, and the talk of social media. We know that Michael is going to be the champion of all things Ineffable Husbands and give us all sorts of feral, brain-breaking moments, but I have a feeling that it's David who is going to be the real revelation this time around. We've already gotten these eye-opening quotes from him in SFX magazine:

And given how vulnerable and open David has been lately, it would not be at all surprising to see him open up further around Michael. He and Michael are even closer now than when the first season was filmed, and we will no doubt see it reflected in their rapport, and in how happy and relaxed they are around each other. (Dare I also add "in love"? I don't think we can rule it out. And if there’s even a hint of that, it’s going to be plainly visible, and it won't just have to do with the characters...)

Which then brings us to the clipping that @feuerkindjana has helpfully shared, and that I think really sets the tone for today's interview. I recently talked on my blog about how Michael was saying four years ago that the lines between the character and real life were blurry for him, and now it's four years later and he's saying that is even more so the case than before.

"Everything that has happened in-between plays into coming back to these characters. I am sure it is all feeding into it."

This mirrors what I've felt for some time now, which is that the relationship between Michael and David has and did inform the relationship between Aziraphale and Crowley in season 1, and now that is doubly true for season 2. And Michael is telling us this, is blatantly saying that what we will see on screen this time around isn't just the characters--it's him and David, and what we're going to see absolutely would not be what it is if it weren't he and David together in these roles.

But it's the last sentence in the clipping above that really gets me:

"It's very difficult for us to know how that is informing the characters and their relationships."

"Very difficult for us." Us. Not him. That alone makes my heart ache, because it reinforces Michael's previous remarks about not seeing his role of Aziraphale as independent from David as Crowley. It's that he's speaking seemingly for David, as if he doesn't even have to think twice about this being the way David feels, because he absolutely knows it is.

It's also how the "us" evokes the feeling of what we will now see in season 2, with Aziraphale and Crowley being on their own side, and echoes what David said in the article quotes above. That they are relying on each other in a way neither of them expected, and more than they would care to admit. That, taken together with Michael's comments just completely and utterly wrecks me a little. (Or a lot…)

So yes, given all of the above, I think we are in for an incredible time on the One Show today. I've had folks DMing me about all the emotions that this day is bringing up, and I can't help but think that if the prospect of them being together again is making us weepy, how must it be affecting Michael and David. Truly, I have no doubt we will find out once the show airs, and I am beyond excited to watch...

THAT IS THE SEVERN BRIDGE!

They're going to Wales! (or go home from it)

I saw that Georgia posted that yesterday! Very interesting indeed, especially since Michael is currently filming in Monmouth, which is a town close to the Wales/England border and not at all far from this bridge. A bakery in Monmouth snapped a pic of him there yesterday as well:

So given this and Georgia's photo, it does make it seem more intriguingly plausible that David might have gotten to see Michael on/for his birthday, and what a lovely thought that is. I could so easily see them getting together for a little rendezvous: Dinner for two at one of their hotels, followed by a drink in private and Michael giving David a special birthday present (maybe not something fancy, but something he picked out specifically with David in mind).

After that, who knows...maybe they just sit together on a couch and watch telly, David's back pressed up against Michael's chest with one of Michael's arms wrapped around him. And on the coffee table in front of them is a cupcake Michael secretly got at the bakery that day (David's favorite flavor, of course) with one candle in it so Michael can sing to him:

Oh, yes, I could certainly see that happening, and how sweet it would be. But, I suppose we won't ever know for sure (though I suspect we will ultimately find out if David went to Wales for DW purposes). Still wonderful to imagine, though...

Occasional Midnight: RPF Fic

Few days were ever as hard as this. His beautiful girl standing without him by her side. It’s not so much for her, even though he knows she’ll be anxious, she’s strong and fearless but she is his rock. The one thing that completes him and his life.

He thinks back to two years before and her absence, it was discussed and decided that she wouldn’t attend but he regrets that decision now since he will be the one at home. He desperately wants to be there, to show his pride but theirs is not a life of reveals and revelations.

He honors her request and sends in his note to the Hollywood Chamber, he means every word, every syllable.

He tweets from Brick’s account, some cryptic message, showing how hard this is for him by way of a quote.

He wants to watch the ceremony but chooses to write instead. They can watch it together later so he won’t have to cry alone.

It’s late and she’s texted an hour ago saying she had just finished the fitting for her CCA dress and wanted to make a quick stop before she headed home.

Knowing her like he does, he assumes she’ll want to stop by her star in the dead of night and have a moment in quiet to reflect on its meaning.

A thought hits him and he rummages in the kitchen pantry for her stash before grabbing his keys on the way out the door.

He pulls up just after 11:45pm. The street is dark and the shops closed and he pulls slowly around the corner to park.

Before he gets out he texts her, ‘You almost home?’ He puts his phone in his pocket, grabs the bag in the passenger seat and gets out if the car. He pocket vibrates as he makes his way down the block.

He stops at his star and wipes the dust away with his hand, smiling at the memory of her silly but loving words. He takes a few steps further and stops to look at his phone. Her text alert waits for him. ‘Not yet just making a pit stop.’

Headlights shine at the end of the street and he shoves his phone in his pocket before reaching for the sack in his hand.

He drops several small chocolate candies on her star and steps into a restaurant doorway. His heart is pounding as the car passes and turns at the end of the block. 'Not her he thinks’ then sucks in a breath to calm himself. He’s not sure why he is so nervous but his hands are shaking.

He looks at her star for the first time, really looks and sighs to the wind, “God, Gill what would I do without you?”

“Well I hope you never have to find out but just in case you forgot we will now be together for eternity.”

She smiles at him and tilts her head to the side.

“And why are you here, how did you know?” She kneels and squeals in delight at the chocolates on the ground. “Look babe! They listened!”

It’s his turn to smile as he sits next to her on the sidewalk. I figured you didn’t get to savor it with everyone around and just wanted a minute to take it in, in private.”

“Of course you would know, I did wish you were there but this is nice too” she says as she sits next to him.

She picks up a candy a waves it at him. “These are from you?”

“Yes, I thought we could make a new midnight tradition.”

He bumps her shoulder and she ducks her head.

“When he read those words today, I almost lost it, you know. I knew you never would but I guess I thought you forgot after all these years.”

“Gill,” he clears his throat in dramatic fashion before he continues. “I love you and on the occasional midnight you have convinced me our love will last as long as starlight.”

It was inevitable, the push and pull between them. They both knew they would break each other’s hearts but couldn’t resist the temptation, the need really, to be together.

She puts a chocolate in her mouth and leans against his body as it melts on her tongue. She speaks into the darkness, drifting back to that night in her set trailer when he said those words to her. “I will never forget that night, you know. Even in our darkest times, I knew we loved each other more than we could ever love anyone else.”

They sit for a minute before a couple starts heading down the sidewalk looking at the stars at their feet.

He stands and takes her hand, helping her up. He brushes his lips to hers and takes a few steps towards his star, stopping just short. “You think Gracie would tolerate letting George rest between us?”

Her giggles fill the night air as they make their way around the corner.
