It's December 23rd, 🥳 Festivus! This excuse to party is a relatively unknown phenomenon outside the 🗽 US, but since its debut in 1997, it's been steadily growing in popularity. Festivus was introduced during an episode of the hit 📺 TV show "Seinfeld" as a secular holiday – an alternative to the pressures and commercialization of 🎅 Christmas.

But just as Christmas has traditions, so does Festivus. Friends and family gather for a Festivus evening of food, fun, and entertainment. The usual tradition of 🎄 Christmas tree is replaced by a plain aluminum "Festivus Pole" with a very high strength-to-weight ratio. Instead of giving presents, participants are encouraged to donate 💰 money to "The Human Fund" – a thinly disguised fake charity where the donations end up in the head of the household's bank account. Throughout the evening, participants are also encouraged to point out 🙌 "Festivus Miracles" – easily explained events which, of course, aren't miracles at all.

The highlight of the evening comes when everybody gathers 'round the dining room table for a 🍽️ Festivus Dinner of meatloaf on a bed of lettuce and an 👺 "Airing of Grievances" – an opportunity for everybody to express how everybody else has disappointed them during the past year. The festivities then conclude with 🤼‍♂️ "Feats of Strength" – wrestling matches in which each dinner guest who doesn't have an excuse to leave because he or she has something better to do, attempts to pin the head of the household. 🎈 Happy Festivus, everybody!
