QUEEN!!! ❤️❤️❤️ Carrying with just her voice and charisma (and excellent backup dancers)! You continue to be robbed with staging but we love you Mimicat ❤️❤️❤️

Festival da Canção:
I’m happy with the winner, Mimicat. She was on my top favourites this year. Her song is theatrical, has colour and power. It’s also different. I have no idea if it will be successful out there or not, but I’m not ashamed of this one.

I made a lil recap design based on the animated Eurovision hearts I posted last month and wanted to play around with it, so here's a top 20 of this year's entries! Honestly, despite this covering over half of this year's entries, I still love all these songs and can't wait to see them on the Liverpool stage. Thoughts on both the design and how much you hate my music taste are super appreciated.

Ik, ik we don’t like when we send english songs to eurovision, BUT LISTEN! Neon Soho’s vocalist is Ana Vieira. Do you know who she is? On of our best dubbers in portugal and one hell of an amazing singer (SHE MADE MY CHILDHOOD AND THE CHILDHOOD OF MANY MORE)
Ik, i’m biased, but I’m rooting for Ana

So, my thoughts on the Portugal's first semifinal for the national selection.
Overall I didn't really like it.
Only two songs really stand out
Cláudia Pascoal (Nasci Maria)
Tumblr media
I mean, seriously? This girl.is crazy, but like genius crazy. She comes From my District, so it's quite fun to see her incorporating a lot of our folklore into her song, with a modern edge. The lyrics use a couple of words typical for us (most portuguese folks from other Districts don't even know what it means and have to Google them) and I find that hilariouss, because most countries now send English songs to eurovision só everyone can understand them and this girl writes a song with words that only a small portion of her own country recognizes. The folklore dance moves incorporated are also awesome. I'm digging this.
MIMICAT (Aí coração)
This was actually my favorite song prior to watching them on stage. (Not so sure, now, but I still love it)
Tumblr media
Mimicat's voice is awesome. Like AWESOME. That last high note?? I mean, come on. No one else on this competition can do that, so points for her.
The song is super fun, the lyrics are cheeky, and I love the whole mediterranian vibe.
Not so sure on the flamenco dancers, or we'll be mistaken for Spain, once again. (Yes, we are an independent country, thank you very much.)
Most of the other songs were completely forgetable or the performances were lacking something.
A few other notable ones:
- April Ivy had a nice song. Too bad she can't sing or dance for that matter. I'm ok with a Singer who doesn't dance, but then choose a different music genre maybe? Almost hoped Cláudia Pascoal could sing her song instead.
- SAL was pretty good. Not Eurovision level, but still a nice surprise, and actually the best staging IMO.
Looking forward for the second semi final.

For Festival da Canção my favs are Mimicat, Cláudia Pascoal and Bárbara Tinoco, but since so many countries are sending songs in their mother tongue I'd prefer if Mimicat or Cláudia won.
I'm curious about how they do live
