Anticipated Q&A:
Q. Where's Doug and Hera (Wolf 359)?
A. We both know that wouldn't be fair. Too powerful.
Q. What about [] and [] (The Magnus Archives)?
A. TMA is too powerful for poll inclusion. Also there's too many potential options without any that stand out, you know?
Q. In previous versions you included Clara and Dan (Archive 81). Why not this one?
A. I wanted to, but after they actually did this with Dan and Melody? Mm.
Q. I think you're missing someone else important!
A. Oh? Tell me who!
Q. I don't know any of these!
A. Pick one and go listen!
Q. But what if I ship them romantically?
A. The purpose of this poll is not to criticize. I am simply an enjoyer of friendship and lists.

more erraticus when 🥺🥺🥺
This is a fair question, and not an easy one to answer. We are definitely in an indefinite hiatus due to...well, life.
While the future of Erraticus is uncertain, Newton has spent the hiatus working on a series of novels that is very much written in the same spirit as Erraticus (eg, a trio of law-flaunting misfits traveling through hostile environs on a peculiar ship). If we find that we can no longer continue our story with Fern, Guy, and the Innominate, hopefully she can mitigate some of the disappointment by offering a new story, albeit in a different medium.
We are so grateful for all of our listeners and everyone who's sent a kind word our way.
Thank you.

Recently got back into podcasts with @erraticuspodcast and I am Screaming this is so fun. I want to argue with The Anominate. Also am I imagining how similar the names Moss and Fern are or is naming your kids after plants a cultural thing in Erraticus-verse🤔🤔

you don't know how much the developing friendship between Fern and the Sentient Being means to me, I like seing them fight for stupid reasons but it's also nice to see all that bickering turn into something a tad more genuine
don't get me wrong, I absolutely love her being sassy and a pain in the ass, but those kind of little moments are also good for my heart
so yes, the whales!!
#the thing about fern#(to us at least)#is that she's ALWAYS looking for a fight#she'd fight with god if given the chance#(🫢)#but the other thing about fern#(and again YMMV)#Is that she has a protective streak the size of the Inner Sphere and once you army craw past her vitriolic defenses#nothing will stop her from protecting you#and the [Spoiler Name]/Sentient Being?#they will never NOT be fueled by vitriol and sarcasm#so they and Fern make for an explosive duo#(and then there’s Guy who is fluent in belligerence#vitriol#and sarcasm but who chooses to be take the hard road and remain as open and genuine as he can)#anyway these are our character interpretations and by no means Formal Canon™️#death of the author#erraticus podcast#erraticus#audio drama#fern finch#[spoiler name] aka Sentient Being#guy de la croix santee

Anticipated questions:
I don't know any of these but I want to see? Pick one and go listen! They're all pretty good.
But I ship them? That's okay! The criteria is just for inclusion in the poll.
Where's Eiffel & Hera? Too well known, too powerful. We all know this.
Where's-? There's only 10 slots. Wouldn't fit. But you're so welcome to tell me in the notes, maybe I'll have a new show to appreciate.
Why are you repeating this poll? I was in spaghetti purgatory the first time and multiple people expressed not seeing it and being unable to vote. Also because I like them and I like that this medium has so many meaningful friendships.

There is a greater than zero chance that Episode 9: Mindless Brute Force will be released tomorrow! So, to celebrate--and because we need a break from working on Episode 12--we made some memes!

Time for a Vague Novel post!
While not THE inspiration for the story Newton is currently drafting, one of the biggest perks is that it answers the question, “What if Fern Finch was allowed to say, ‘fuck’?”
#fern-core#vague-posting#to be clear the novel does not take place in the Erraticus universe and the characters are different#but if Newton is going to write a story you can bet your bottom she’s going to feature a Fern-like female character

Deleted line from Erraticus Hospital AU
Guy: Okay, so we’ll screen people’s temperature and isolate anyone whose temperature is over 100 degrees.
Fern: Cool. But, question: is that Fahrenheit or Celsius?
#this is followed by roughly 2.4 minutes of absolute cricket-chirping silence as Guy just stares blankly at Fern#anyway this scene idea made our writer giggle when it popped into her head#and it won't ever end up in the actual show (probably)#so we'll inflict it on our Tumblr followers#(you're welcome 😇)#erraticus

Fern Finch, ADHD icon.
#erraticus#possibly I am projecting this but also she radiates powerful (unmedicated) ADHD-C energy#also I adore her#fern finch#and yes I am relistening again#frankly I don't think any of the main cast are neurotypical and this is 100% a compliment

Anticipated Q&A under the cut
Q. Where's Doug and Hera?
A. You know that wouldn't be fair.
Q. Where's-
A. There's only 10 slots. Sorry :(
Q. What if I ship them romantically though?
A. That's fine! I just like making lists with oddly specific criteria

Georgie Crusoe (Wooden Overcoats) - She's great at everything. She is the mold. I want to be her.
Fern Finch (Erraticus) - What even is going on with her. I'm obsessed with the mess. I am rotating her in my brain.
Dr. Erica Mori (The Department of Variance of Somewhere, Ohio) - I'm biased because I voiced her. But. She knows everything about the paranormal. She uses morbid humor to cope. She has an axe and she's not afraid to use it.
Dr. Faye Underwood (The Vesta Clinic) - It takes a special person to do her job. And she is. She's special to me. I want to be her friend.
Coconut Silver (Ophiuchus Radio) - You'd think she would be the straight man for all of Blue's nonsense, but no, she's also weird as hell, and I love her for that.
I see many a post about people's favourite little fiction podcast guys. But who's everyone's favourite fiction podcast gals? I would like very much to hear about your blorbos.

Oh I absolutely did not realize that there's a tumblr for Erraticus, but honestly I can't complain because the absolute shock of seeing the episode in my "new episodes" list on Spotify was so pleasant. But I thought you might like to know that 1) I keep finches and 2) I have a tradition of naming them after podcast characters so! Meet Fern and Guy the society finches, because the pun was too perfect to pass up.
The new episode is absolutely wonderful, I love the dynamic between these characters so much, and I'm so excited to learn more about the ways the Heliosphere and the Oort opperate!
You? Named finches after our characters???!!! Oh my gosh, this is beyond anything we ever hoped to achieve with our story!!! We love these little buddies and must say they are exquisite!
We're also so glad you liked the episode and hope that we can continue living up to this standard! The next episode will be out in a couple of days, so keep an eye on your Spotify list!
Lastly, but most importantly, THANK YOU for this kind post!

We’re not very good at promoting our tiny little indie production here at Erraticus, but...HYPOTHETICALLY, one might want to refresh themselves as to how Part One ended because there’s a CHANCE that we’re also pretty bad at remembering to include a “Last time on...” intro to any POTENTIAL Part Two premiere episodes. We MIGHT tend to just, y’know, launch into the story.
THEORETICALLY, of course.
(BUT, between Fern’s big mouth and Guy’s big brain, there might be enough context spilled out that an intrepid listener will remember as any PUTATIVE episodes come out. 🙃)
