Dice el editor Felipe Ehrenberg, fundador junto a Martha Hellion de un proyecto editorial hermoso como fue la Beau Geste Press, que artistas como Ulises Carrión pertenecieron a una generación valientemente intuitiva "que no aceptaba ya la actitud cortesana y palaciega" que investía a lxs artistas, que en parte se debe al mercado del arte, a que dialogasen con la galería o con la editorial y no con el público. Decidieron erradicar al intermediario para poder establecer un diálogo directo con un público no especializado. La Beau Geste Press invitaba a lxs artistas a autoeditarse aprendiendo a usar las máquinas que ellxs ponían a su disposición. La materialización del texto concebida como parte constitutiva de la obra, a cargo de las mismas personas. El taller era al mismo tiempo una comunidad de impresorxs, donde editar no era entendido como un negocio sino como una forma de vida. En actividad entre 1970 y 1976, produjeron ediciones limitadas completamente artesanales, libros objeto, panfletos, revistas y flyers experimentando con técnicas gráficas de diseño que incluían inserts, stencil, collages, fotografía,etc. 1. Felipe Ehrenberg (b. Mexico City, June 27, 1943) is a Mexican painter.

Felipe says.... To most people, a file is merely a collection of objects, mostly papers, stuck into folders and saved in cases, ordered and stored in such a manner that one may consult them at will. A file, of course, is that and then much more. Files have existed for a very long time and in many shapes, and if you stop to think about it, you’ll notice that we humans still use most of the devices for storing and remembering that we’ve invented through the ages: mnemonic rote and chant, carved wood and monoliths, clay tablets, knotted ropes, papyrus, parchment and paper, and now, with the advent of computers, electrical impulses.
