Aone:

He is SO blushy blushy 

I happen to headcanon Aone as someone who blushes easily so you can just imagine how red his face gets when he sees you wearing his jersey

Yes he gave it to you and yes he knows that you were obviously going to wear it but he wasn’t expecting at this practice match adlfdfh

The game hasn’t even started yet and he’s already out of breath LOLOL 

Futakuchi’s like ‘Aone you good????’

Aone straight up CRUSHES the opposing team in that game because the thought of you cheering him on (IN HIS SPARE JERSEY) makes him so much more focused and play so much better

Tendou:

Tendou is loud as hell about it

The minute you walk into the gym with his jersey on he spots you and he basically lets out a shriek

Everyone in the area thought a bird got stepped on or something

DASHES over to you and just starts gushing over you because you look so good??? In his jersey???? And you’re here to cheer him on??? Please give him a minute he’s so overwhelmed

The opposite of Aone in the game -- baby is so distracted that he doesn’t keep his eye on the ball the entire time

He’s too busy staring at you

After the practice match Semi advises you to maybe not wear the spare jersey to their actual games so the team can make it to nationals aksjdhfkjh

Bokuto:

A mix of the other two

VERY loud when he sees you at first but he doesn’t really shriek like Tendou, he’ll just keep yelling your name and pointing to the jersey you’re wearing

‘Y/N IS THAT MINE?? Y/N IT LOOKS SO GOOD HI Y/N OVER HERE OVER HERE AKAASHI LOOK IT’S Y/N’

Akaashi is like ‘Yes Bokuto-san I can see Y/N now come on the match is starting’

Similar to Aone, this man excels in the game suddenly

No more emo-mode, no more bad serves/recieves,  he is just simply thriving 

After the game Akaashi basically gives you the entire schedule for their future games so you can show up in his jersey and help his team win

#AFTER THE GAME || Aone Takanobu x gn!Reader || 1.2k words

Go! Go! Let’sGo! Let’s Go! Dateko!

The crowd from the bleachers chant.

If you were being honest, all this was kind of overwhelming. The crowd, the noise, the tension in the air, but being able to see Aone play volleyball made it all tolerable.

You two haven’t been together long, longer than a month but less than two. When he invited you to one of his games, you were ecstatic. There’s nothing more heartwarming than knowing your boyfriend was comfortable enough around you to let you into his world. Volleyball had always been his thing, you knew this. He never really talked about it when you two were together though, his attention was always focused on you and how your day went.

Sitting a few seats away from the Dateko cheer squad on the bleachers (mainly because your outfit didn’t match, no one gave you the memo),  you spectate the game going on in front of you. It was the second set against some school with a name you’d already forgotten. Dateko won the first set and is currently three points away from winning the second as well.

The next two points are won in a flash, with some very strong serves coming from Futakuchi. As the very last and most important serve of the game goes up, you hold your breath, silently hoping they don’t receive this one either.

As much as you hoped this would be another easy point, it’s received by the other team.

Nice receive! You hear one of them yell, followed by another Connect! Connect!

The opponents start passing the ball to the setter, preparing for an attack. Before you can even react to what’s happening Aone has already blocked the spike, shutting down the attack and earning the winning point of the game.

Your entire face brightens up with your smile. You’d never once doubted his abilities, the years of effort put into this hobby has really paid off at moments like this. Not to mention, his height. You’re not shallow, but you couldn’t help to gush over how tall he was when you first met him. The fact that he was just a big soft giant made you feel so safe around his presence.

Your gaze meets his as he turns to look at you up in the bleachers. Aone’s not a very expressive person, but you can tell the slight smirk creeping its way up his lips as you admire each other from afar. Tearing away from the eye contact, he starts to walk out the gym as his teammates continue to celebrate the victory.

Picking up all your belongings and running out the exit, you maneuver yourself through the halls of this unfamiliar school and try to find the doors he just left from.

To no one's surprise, the halls slowly all begin to look the same. Yep. You got lost, you sigh to yourself. Of course.

Defeated, you take a turn around the corner while looking down at the ground until your body collides with another.

“Sorry, that was my fault. I wasn’t-“ looking up at whoever you just bumped into, your heart skips a beat at the sight of your boyfriend.

“Nobu!” You yell, voice laced with admiration as you stand on your tippy toes and arms find their way to the top of his shoulders, around his neck. Every time he hears you speak it’s as if he’s become a new person.

Aone chuckles and hugs you back into a tight grip, slightly bringing you off the ground. He’s learned overtime (and through your constant reassurance) that he doesn’t have to handle you like glass. The first week of dating, you thought he didn’t like holding hands but the truth was he didn’t want to hurt you with his strength.

“That was a great game, I’m so proud of you,” you speak into his chest, voice muffled.

He lets you back onto your feet and you tilt your chin to look up at him, still holding onto each other.

He hasn’t showered yet, body and face covered in a thin layer of sweat, but you couldn’t care less about that right now. The way he’s looking at you, and you back at him, nothing could ruin this moment. It’s times like these that remind you of how lucky you are, the comfortable silence protecting you both from the world.

The tall middle blocker begins to dip his head down to meet yours, and you reciprocate the movement by standing on your tippy toes again. As your lips meet, he swears he’s never felt this way about anything before. Physical affection was something Aone was still working on. He didn’t hate it, he just wasn’t used to it. The first time you two held hands was the day he blushed so hard he thought he had a fever.

Pulling away from the sweet exchange, your moment was interrupted by a voice coming from behind your boyfriend.

“Aone?” As Aone turns around to the source of the sound, you lean your body to the side to see who it was as well. You thought it would be Futakuchi, or maybe Kogenagawa.

To your surprise, the entire rest of the team was there, and it’s pretty clear they just saw the intimate moment between you and their tallest player. Everyone’s jaws are on the floor, eyes almost popping out of their sockets.

“No way. AONE’S DATING SOMEONE?” Kogenagawa yells in disbelief.

You two have never actually told his team about the relationship. Not that you guys were hiding it from everyone, your close friends knew, but Aone never brought it up with his team. He didn’t see it as something they needed to know about; it just wasn’t their business.

Aone moves out of the way from in front of you to beside you, grabbing your hand and looking at his team.

“Hi,” you weakly say, “I’m Y/N.”

Futakuchi’s face lights up, “hey, I know you - you were in my language class. So, Aone huh?”

You hear Aone let out a quiet laugh, giving your hand a squeeze.

“Yup,” you chuckle, “been more than a month now,” you smile at the group of boys.

“All this time and you didn’t tell us Aone?” Kogenagawa says to your boyfriend, “I mean, I shouldn’t be that surprised actually. Good thing they talk more than you though, or we would’ve been standing in silence right now,” he laughs.

Aone gives the boy an annoyed look. “Anyways,” Obara interrupts,” good to know you found someone, Aone. Now if you can come back to the gym, we’re saying thank yous to the other team.”

Other team. He probably forgot their name too, you laugh to yourself. As Aone gives the rest of the team a nod, they make their way back to the gym.

Directing his attention back to you, he looks you straight in the face and gives you a soft smile. The same smile that caught your attention just a few months ago before you two got together. The one that makes your heart flutter and your cheeks turn rosy pink.

He gives your hand one last squeeze and reluctantly leaves the hallway to return back to his team.

Aone’s never been a man of words, but when it comes to him, words aren’t necessary. The special way he looks at you is enough to tell you everything you need to know.

He’s more likely to rest his head on top of yours or maybe pet your hair if he thinks you’ll like it

He would contemplate on taking a photo ..... but ends up not doing it because what if his phone suddenly makes a loud sound or something 

Will also stare at you like Aone hehe

Mostly because he doesn’t want to stop admiring you but also just to keep an eye on you because he do be feeling protective

It’s a whole ordeal just getting Aone to admit about his crush to Futakuchi

Futakushi can tell there’s something wrong, he’s learned to work with Aone in a team sport already, so of course he’d be able to sense that the tall middle blocker was just acting a little off lately

Doesn’t take him long to realize that Aone acts off around you

Aone’s gaze lingers on you a little longer than what could be considered normal, he focuses why more when you talk, brings your name up a lot in the very limited conversations that the two guys share with each other

Futakuchi’s the one to bring this up of course

‘So ....... Y/N huh?’ 

Aone just acts clueless because he thought he was being so lowkey about his crush

Futakuchi eventually breaks it to Aone that he was being VERY obvious and that it was honestly weird that you haven’t figured it out yet

Aone doesn’t even need to ask for advice, Futakuchi’s just like ‘don’t worry buddy I’ll help you’ and Aone is just like ???? uh .... sure

Aone wasn’t even planning to confess to you because he just thought he’d never have a chance but Futakuchi’s there to push him past his comfort zone and really get out there

Eventually they settled on a little confession gift, something that Aone knows you’ve been keeping an eye on every time you walk past that one store on your way home.

He basically gets the present the very next day and then starts making this lil card for you basically just confessing

Futakuchi told him to actually hand it to you but Aone’s still working on the whole confrontational thing so he insists that he just put it somewhere he knows you’ll find it

And you do find it !! You see the gift and the note and your heart melts and you look at who signed it and ITS AONE THE LOVE OF OUR LIFE ADHFKJDHFHH AHHHHHHHHH

My bad lost myself there um -- so you find out it’s him yeah and just instant blush instantly flustered 

OBVIOUSLY YOU’RE GOING TO ACCEPT HIS CONFESSION BECAUSE LITERALLY WHO WOULDN’T

Aone’s still kind of in shock till this day every since you’ve expressed mutual feelings

And Futakuchi just walks around with the biggest ego because he was able to successfully set up his best friend with someone

valentine’s day disasters

I was literally trying to do homework but then this popped into my head so here are some valentine’s day disasters brought to you by some haikyuu boys !!

characters: aone, tendou, osamu, iwaizumi, kenma, daichi

aone -- forgot the box of chocolates on the train. baby went to school early because he wanted to set everything up on your desk so you’ll see it first thing in the morning but he got too excited that when he arrived at his stop he dashed out the train and forgot your gifts on the seat beside him :( made it up for you by bringing you to the store after school though, he let you pick out whichever ones you wanted 

tendou -- tried to make you some home-made chocolates and he wanted to make it extra special so he tried this new recipe for the very first time. literally nothing worked out and the chocolates tasted so bad in the end but you were still thankful for the good intentions behind it :)

osamu -- ate the sweets that were meant for you. when he went out to go buy them for valentine’s day he bought some extra snacks for himself to indulge in but as he was writing you a card he realized that he was eating the food meant for you. Had to go back to the store and ran the entire way there to buy them right before closing time. 

iwaizumi -- gripped the gift too hard adhfjhdf he was nervous !! had a card in one hand and some gifts in the other. he was so nervous he didn’t realize that the poor card was crumbling in his hand. when he gave it to you it was already in a ball of paper and you could not have been more confused

kenma -- prepared some kind of suprise digitally because he thoguht you’d like it, and you totally would have !! if only the file didn’t crash the night before valentine’s day :( it’s fine though, he still had some chocolates prepared for you 

daichi -- HIS MOM FOUND THE CHOCOLATES AND THOUGHT IT WAS FOR HER SO SHE ATE IT SKJDHHD Daichi bought the chocolates like MONTHS before it was even vday, he just couldn’t wait !! but he forgot to tell his mom who those were for so she thought daichi bought it for himself and ‘borrowed’ some from him :))

SOFT AONE HOURS YOU SAY? Just imagine laying in bed with Aone, your head on his chest as you listen to his heart beat lulling you to sleep while he runs his fingers through your hair. Just before you completely give in to sleep, you'll hear a faint whisper of "Goodnight, love. I'll be here when you wake up. I love you," followed by a gentle kiss on the forehead 🥺
