About Me

I've gotten a lot of new followers recent (hi hello, welcome!) so I just thought I'd do a brief little about me

So, I'm Sass. I'm known around here as the Queen of Killer and Healer (hence the username) because I am totally normal (lying) about this drama. I've also written over 150+ fics for the fandom so that's also where the name came from. I am also currently doing one of the biggest writing projects ever, which is my Killer and Healer rewrite. It's my baby and I hope y'all check it out (we're unfortunately not even close to being done, but I'm trying).

I do like to liveblog my dramas, so if you're into that, you'll have a good time. No dramas have really captured my interest at the moment, so liveblogs won't be happening for a while but hopefully something interests me so that I can get back into liveblogging cuz I do miss it.

I'm also known as your friendly neighborhood forensic science expert, as I have a bachelors in forensic biology, a masters in forensic investigative science (plus two graduate certificates in forensic investigative science and forensic psychology), and I also work as a crime scene technician. So, if you ever have any questions about crime scenes or death scenes (crime scenes i don't really have a lot of experience in, just textbook knowledge, but death scenes i do) or scenes in detective dramas/tv shows, feel free to drop by and ask me about them! I'm also currently in my F1 era (more like me fighting for Logan Sargeant's life because his fucking team principle is throwing him under the god damn fucking bus and I want to tear his throat out with my teeth. oh gosh. i'm not sure, but i know it definitely WILL affect their parenting... i think at first donnie will find himself just... deferring to his partner a LOT in almost any situation because he's afraid that he'll fuck it up, because he DOESN'T feel like he understands proper boundaries or what parenting is supposed to look like, etc etc etc, and he's afraid he'll mess up. he probably reads a TON of parenting books as well because RESEARCH and will often try to pull directly from them in any situation he can, and is confused when things don't go exactly the way they were described in the text... leo i think kind of tends to flounder between being overprotective and feeling the desire to protect his son from everything and anything and wanting to overcorrect this tendency by pulling back and trying to give him as much freedom and space as possible, which sometimes leads to some... inconsistencies. there's definitely a learning curve for both of them, but they both get the hang of it eventually. they both have lovely partners and a very loving and supportive family to help them and they'll figure it out with a bit of practice.

i like to imagine them all staying very close, especially coz i'm loosely planning on them all going through the kraang-apocalypse together (and then coming through to the other side!) so i can't imagine them ever drifting too far from each other, emotionally or geographically. there's a bit of a rocky start for a lot of them, but all of the siblings end up a very tight-knit bunch.

• First impression

Like I said in another one of these, RTGame's gameplay was my first time seeing this game in full, and Prisoner was the first princess him (and, by extension, I) met!! And if I were to play the game blind, I feel like I'd make very similar choices to him and end up getting Prisoner too. It just feels like the most natural route? You're unsure of everything, not quite trusting the Narrator, but he's also your only source of info, so might as well go in with the benefit of the doubt.

Prisoner, herself, also looks like the most natural progression to the Harsh princess. She's not too different in how she's drawn, how she acts… she's colder and more quiet than before, but it doesn't feel like such a drastic change.

I was enamored by her. Her flat face, her monotone and straightforward speech, I'm a sucker for this archetype, so she already had me by the heart.

The flat effect autism swag is everything to me, I love it when a non-expressive character is just let be and isn't treated like there's something wrong with them/like they need to be fixed.

Her quiet trust, the way she's hopeful despite her doubts and skepticism, how deep her hurt goes if you leave her to rot aaaaaaaaaahhhhh. She's everything to me.

When you chain yourself besides her.

Something about like.. how despite you two being trapped, your curious and inquisitive nature still brings about entropy, and because of that, you manage to get yourself free without any bloodshed. Also, smth smth, stagnancy while change happens around you.

For something non-Heathens related tho, I really like the idea of Prisoner in the outside world just going on a thrift shop and completely embracing goth fashion, just. going all out, she deserves it.

• Unpopular opnion

Already talked about my thoughts on the 'leave head behind' lead-up, and that's prolly about it, tbh, don't really have much 'unpopular opnions' on her. Uuuuuhhhh, kinda understated opnion tho, is how she's prolly one of the most trusting and hopeful of the vessels. Just because it manifests as a quiet understanding and not a bubbly and unwavering faith doesn't mean it isn't there.

• Favorite relationship

Whatever she has going on with Skeptic is everything to me, despite not shipping it romantically, and I just. love how on the same wavelength they are, and how much faith they put in each other.

Also really interested in a potential Pris&Cold dynamic, since they're also pretty similar and have the same kinda 'flat effect autism' going on, which is why I put them together in my Swap AU that I still gotta properly go into here on Tumblr and post about lol

😭 okay attempt number two writing this because i accidentally closed the Tumblr app while in the middle of writing and lost my progress- I'M SO SAD

Mammon is desperately trying to convince them to not visit the record shop, even contradicting himself. Says they shouldn't be the first customers right at opening, that's rude. Or saying it's probably really busy and they should just hang out here. Goes as far as offering free stuff but only if they stay. None of this works.

I bet Belphie has the biggest grin on his face as they leave, with Mammon halfway through following them out the door to hold them back himself. But he can't leave his cafe unattended. He's so worried they'll embarrass him somehow.

Cue them arriving to the shop and I look up to say hi/welcome but I'm currently very occupied trying to make bracelets. And of course I don't recognize them from the cafe because eye contact? Who's she? I don't know her. I'm mostly better about it with people I know, but if I get embarrassed about something I can't hold it 😭 (No doubt Mammon and Solomon would totally do something like a chin grab.)

Anyway Belphie is having the time of his life looking through everything. Finds two CD's he swears he couldn't find anywhere online for anything less than $80. And some records he hasn't had time to order. This has become his new favorite place. Beel is happily carrying everything, very glad he researched beforehand.

They come up to pay and I very awkwardly make space on the counter, apologizing for the mess. Up close, Belphie confirms that he recognizes the bracelets. Even recognizes some lyrics/songs.

"You're going to the concert too?"

That one question gets me very excited and feel instantly less awkward. I start rambling about how it's gonna be my first concert, I'm so excited, it's my favorite band. Until I remember myself and cut myself off because wow I should not be talking two strangers ears off.

"It's okay. Our older brother is the same way with anime. We're used to it."

Beel saying that makes me feel even more embarrassed, but it's the thought that counts. I squint at him for a second because he looks familiar but I shrug it off. I ask if they're brothers too and Beel nods and confirms they're twins.

After checking them out, I offer them one of the bracelets I've already made. Belphie was already eyeing an infinity on high themed bracelet. Beel chooses Death Valley because it's one of the few songs he recognizes because it makes for good workout music. I end up giving them a pair of "Half-doomed/Semi-Sweet" bracelets because they said they were twins. They can have matching bracelets. (Belphie immediately hands the semi-sweet one to Beel).

Before they leave, Belphie catches sight of my "cursed" records display. He rolls his eyes and asks who would buy something like that. I shrug and say "You'd be surprised. I have someone who buys one every time he comes in."

It's only after they leave that I realize I didn't get their names, a contact, or anything. I may or may not yell into my hands because "I COULD'VE HAD KINDA FRIENDS TO GO WITH IF I'D ASKED THEM !! WHY DIDN'T I ASK?!" Now I'm still stuck going alone </3 (or so I think.)

I feel like Belphie would definitely show off his purchase to the family group chat. Beel shows off a photo of their hands next to each other with the new bracelets and says they made a new friend. Mammon is sending angry emojis.

"OI! Y'ALL BETTER NOT HAVE BOTHERED HER !! 🤬 I'LL KICK YOUR ASSES IF I HEAR ANYTHING!!"

Belphie will NOT be letting him live down his interest in this girl he was so desperate to keep them away from. Sending that message in the group chat was the worst idea actually because now EVERYONE is asking who he's talking about. Rip Mammon they're all questioning him.

46) How would you describe your style? (Character/emotion/action-driven, etc)

Oh boy, this one is tough for me. Generally, I'd say action-drive considering how quickly I try to get to the plot, followed by character. I like having big casts (if GoS and MoaH haven't given that away).

54) What’s your favorite part about the fanfiction writing process?

I feel like this is a bit of a cheat, but honestly, the posting process. It is a bit of a double-edged sword, but getting to see y'all's reactions makes my day. And it always feels good to be part of fandom and folks who also enjoy this thing I enjoy.

I guess less cheat, the sandbox/worldbuilding process. Getting to take the parts of the setting and play with them. For example, in MoaH, I'm having so much fun with reimagining the lineages/races and how they exist in this setting unique from other moments in canon. Marela's Zora design really started a deep dive there (pun absolutely intended!) on the fun things fic can do when it's not constricted by hardware limitations.

56) What’s something about your writing that you pride yourself on?

I just got a compliment on my worldbuilding today, so I'll say that for one. Personally though, I'm gonna say my originality. I definitely can't say I came up with the idea of "original legends," but I have also never seen anyone tell stories how I tell stories. Things like how I divide chapters and the "..." chapter continuations. It's definitely my own style!

58) What part of the writing process do you enjoy the most? (Brainstorming, outlining, writing, editing, etc) 

Writing! Look, I'll get lost in worldbuilding, but the writing it part is way more fun. Is there anyone who genuinely said editing tho, because I don't understand you.

65) Tell us about what you’re most looking forward to writing – in your current project, or a future project

Since GoS is complete, I'll answer this for MoaH. Currently, in book 2, there's a gala coming up with very good Zelink interactions I'm looking forward to.

And, as a future project, in book 3, oh, in book 3. Well, let's just say I'm correcting a mistake I made in GoS in introducing a very important character so late. He shows up much sooner.

Since I was asked for both Goddess of Secrecy & Mark of a Hero, I will give you one of both.

For GoS, and this is a very late scene not yet imported to AO3, a tie between the boss fight in the Soul Temple and the final phase of the Ganondorf fight. Getting to bring so much of the cast back was an absolute blast, but also the emotional impact of the Soul Temple fight. Ah! It was so good. And what a twist! Setting that one up so the title didn't spoil it was a challenge and worth it.

For MoaH, oh boy. Where to start. 90% of the scenes I'm thinking about are Zelink bull y'all don't have yet and won't be out until like, at least October. If not later. The earliest one, oh...there's a scene in Overworld Chapter 34 that absolutely is going to get me comments for the tease of it.

Closer, there's a really good scene coming up in Overworld Chapter 25 that brings back someone from GoS in a way, and I love this interaction of them.

18. oh he was definitely a menace lol. i feel like he was the kind of kid who loved to play pranks on everyone (especially adults), and i think he was always the class clown type of kid.

20. idk if this is weird as much as sad (and it might be a stretch) but it's been on my mind lately: i feel like part of minoru's love for heroes might be bc of his parents' divorce. like hear me out...heroes solve problems and make everyone feel better, and having parents who divorce can be distressing for kids and it feels like they don't have any control in the situation. there's a chance that one of the first times minoru would've wanted to make problems go away and make everyone feel better was when his parents got divorced (and presumably were unhappily married and arguing before the divorce). again this could be a stretch and i've been known to make things more complicated than they are but i think it's an interesting idea idk

i think my first impression of him was that he was funny and that he'd probably be one of my favorite characters (and i was right dkdsjlsf)

i think i started to like him during the first few free actions you have with him?? bc he's such an asshole but he's so fuckin funny. but the moment he gained favorite-character status for me was during chapter 3 of my first playthrough bc not only was it clear how much he loved his mom but it was also obvious that he pushed people away bc he automatically assumed that they hated him and considered him burdensome. so at that point i was like "yeah i'd die for this mf." and then he fuckin died like 5 mins later and i cried for at least 20 mins bc i am Very Normal about him lol

13. probably not a surprise to anyone but it's minoru lol. the way they just seem to naturally understand each other is something i love about them (like when ryo recognizes that minoru's teasing is just him trying to cheer ryo up), and i love their banter. i think my favorite thing might be how despite all their bantering and teasing, it's clear that they care a lot about each other and will drop everything if the other needs help. and then they'll both be doing the most to pretend like they don't care That Much and that putting themself in potential danger just to help each other out just isn't a big deal lol. honorable mentions go to his friendships w/ takuma and saki tho!!

Fun DGRP interest trivia for those who wanna know:

Ultra Despair Girls is my favorite of the games, though that is definitely a subjective take and bc of some of the shit that goes on in there, I completely understand those who may dislike the game.

Trigger Happy Havoc (DR1) is probably my favorite of the main 3 games. The cast just clicks with me more and also it features my girlsssss Toko and Syo.

Still don't personally understand a lot of the hype around SDR2 I'M SORRY it just doesn't click with me as much. It's still super fun I'm just an outlier in it not being my favorite.

World's strongest Tokosyomaru soldier though I'm kinda on break rn with the fixation not being as hard. Fukawa system defender though I also fucking hate how they were written so I am defending them from the devs as well.

Favorite characters include Komaru Naegi, Toko and Syo Fukawa (those feel like "duh"s to me LOL), Makoto Naegi, Kyoko Kirigiri, Chihiro Fujisaki, Kazuichi Soda. Aaand I really liked Maki/ Tenko from nDRV3 but I'm going to be real it's been so long since I've thought about that since the ending of the game made me feel super sour so I'm going to have to get back to y'all on that one.

I also really enjoy seeing Naegiri, Sakuraoi, and Tenmiko stuff. Not super into much aside from my affinity for Tokosyomaru, though I appreciate p much any ship in this series as long as it's not the Fukawas and Byakuya (I'm a lot more chill abt that nowadays though it makes me super uncomf still, sorry).

Despite my interest in this series being pretty dormant, feel free to send me asks abt it!! I'd love to chat a bit even if it's not the current active interest. :)

Gonna try to use this tumblr a bit more to post thoughts and such. Twitter is imploding and so many people are jumping ship, so I might move back to using this as my "main" (kind of)

I don't have an interest in getting a bluesky or whatever (maybe will get a cohost eventually but not any time soon) but I AM hoping to dedicate a lot more time to my neocities! I like most of us on Tumblr have read a variety of things, and while they may catch my interest I might now have the skill or stomach to write them. That being said, there are some things I will not write. Also, I'm a fast writer, but be patient! I have a full time job, so sometimes things will get to y'all a bit slower!

29. Favorite line/passage you wrote this year [2022]?

oh, fuck there are so many. I think the opening sequence of like you could (love me) is a very clever one and I believe I managed to convey a lot of worldbuilding in just a few sentences, so I thought it was very neat. Also, in 2022 I finally got to write scenes I have been planning in my head since the previous year, so when they turned out good enough, it was a joy. I'm particularly proud of two passages from by any means necessary, basically the opening and the ending sequences and I also think the smut was very hot, if I may say so (and it inspired a stunning piece of artwork). Now, if I have to specify one passage only, I'm picking this from they have not sinned:

(CW: it mentions the burial of a stillborn)

He only realised he had not brought anything to dig a hole when he felt the dry earth crack under his fingernails. It stung and Yusuf bit down on his tongue so he would not curse in front of his dead child. As he felt the cuts open on his raw skin, Yusuf smelled fresh copper and he thought it was only fitting he should bleed for his child as well, as Nicolò had.

30. Biggest surprise while writing this year [2022]?

Hmmm, probably something in the AU department? I always struggle writing AUs, because though I love reading them, I find coming up with a new world/background for such beloved characters a challenge, so I'm always pleasantly astonished when people are interested in those. In this case, If we slow dance was a nice surprise because of all the lovely feedback it got (thank y'all, I'm writing more!) and also because I never really thought I'd write a Football AU (even if the football in it is just in the background). Still speaking of AUs, for obvious reasons, of course, a garden didn't get much feedback, but since it was something I never really thought I'd write for this fandom (it's quite dark), I enjoyed the result a lot and it also inspired people to make such great art for it, which is always a wonderful bonus.

What is this blog?

Primarily, this blog is me liveblogging my reread of the Asylum Series by Madeline Roux. I'm hoping to post one chapter a day, and each chapter's liveblog is going to one uninterrupted post. You can read about why I'm doing this here.
