actually I've been using mostly procreate for a while now, but I know there's equivalent ways to do the same stuff on photoshop (it used to be the only program I used for yeaaarsss)

besides that I usually just play with grain overlays/color gradients and adjust the opacity and layer styles!

You've probably heard by now, but from March 4th to 10th 2024, Help Gaza Children will be sending all their donations to families in northern Gaza, where food prices have skyrocketed even more than in the south. Their goal is $25K by the end of the week; at the time of writing this post, it's about halfway a quarter way there! Writing Workshop Master Post

What is it?

A writing workshop lasting approximately seven weeks (barring complications), where we go over and practice critiquing a work, and then you provide a piece that is 5,000 words or less for the entire group to give you feedback on.

Where is it?

I run it through a private Discord server.

How much does it cost?

It's free! I'm doing this to provide access to this service for people who want to improve their writing skills without spending a lot of money. I do ask that if you join the workshop and are in a financial position to do so, you consider contributing a suggested donation of $50 (or whatever you can spare) to my ko-fi after your workshop day has passed. (I want to make sure you get something useful out of it first, though!) However, if you aren't able to do that, I understand, and it's still perfectly fine for you to participate!

How long does it take, and when is it?

It takes approximately an hour and a half each time, and we are currently doing it on Sundays at noon MST. If the group would like to pick another date/time, I can likely accommodate it.

Who is allowed to participate?

Any adult who is fluent in reading and writing English is free to join. You do not need to be a native speaker. I have no desire to lock participation to English-speaking countries, but the topics covered in ESL classes are very different from those that I cover, and I don't feel qualified to teach that sort of curriculum. You do not need to be part of the Dragon Age or BW fandoms to join. If you are under the age of majority in the country where you live, please talk to me and we'll see if we can work something out. Some pieces submitted for critique may handle adult subject matter, so special accommodations/permissions may need to be arranged.

What information will you go over?

Close reading, providing helpful critique, how to give feedback to other people that is useful and well-received, how to line-edit a piece, how to write a critique letter, and some general writing tips.

How many people will be in each workshop?

I think I will stick with eight!

How do I sign up?

I will not start a new workshop until the current one is over, but if you know you want to participate, please contact me on Tumblr or ko-fi and I will reserve a spot for you in the next one. Other writing workshops cost a lot more money. Are they overcharging me?

NO. This is an extraordinary amount of work, and I have no desire to devalue the services that other people provide in this space. I am doing this for comparatively little because I have a deeply held belief that people should have access to education, regardless of their economic circumstances.

Do I have to come to every single session?

Ideally, you should attend every session. The first two are necessary to participate in the rest of the course; if you can't make it to one of those two for any reason, please contact me and I'll see if we can figure out a time to make it up. However, the strength of the workshop is in the participants and the community of writers; the more people are present to give their opinions, the better each critique will be. Please try to come to as many meetings as possible, so that everyone can have a useful and fun critique!

I want to emphasize that this workshop does involve actual critical feedback of your work, and the participants will provide suggestions for improvement. However, I also expect all participants to be respectful and polite to one another, and to offer their critique with the author's goals in mind. If anyone cannot follow these guidelines, they will be asked to leave.

Can you draw [beta versions, scrapped pokémon etc]?

Beta versions of pokémon might inspire my design process, so I don't think its worth separating beta versions vs canon versions. I won't be drawing scrapped pokémon as I already have a big challenge ahead of me with a 1000+ pokedex. if you wish to see one, you'll have to sponsor it, sadly.

Can you draw mega evolutions/gmaxes/pokemon forms?

The only forms I'm doing are of base pokémon, and only the most important ones, so no megas/gmaxes unless sponsored. Regional forms are included as they are their own pokémon. Small aesthetic changes such as alcremie, furfrou, vivillon will not be included, but can be sponsored. Only drastic gender forms will be included (oinkologne, basculegion, meowstic etc). I wouldn't accept other gender sponsors because... well its usually just 2 or 3 pixels of difference lol. Save ur money for something else, unless u just wanted me to draw that line again.

Are all pokémon available to sponsor?

There are some mons I won't accept as sponsors for personal reasons, and i'd rather work on them for free at my own time. If you wish to check, feel free to ask (off anon) or dm me. 98% of pokémon are fine, to be clear.

It hasn’t even been a long time since you’ve started “seeing” each other, too, and yet here he is, perfectly attuned to the worries in your mind, whatever they could even be about. (He does have inkling as to what it could be, though.)

And he knows you two aren’t official yet—that you’re not an actual “thing” right at this second, but Seunghan just can’t help but want to quickly erase the doubts in your mind. To ease the frown on your face, to be able to see you smile again. 

“...I got into a fight with Anton a few days ago,” you begin, slowly, gauging Seunghan’s reaction to your announcement. “Sunoo’s also mad at us for fighting in the groupchat, but I had to say what I had to say since he wouldn’t reply to my DMs. Which… kinda sounds stupid now, to be honest.” 

“Oh,” is the only thing Seunghan could muster up. Looks like he was right, then. “...What’d you guys even fight about?” 

You immediately deflate. 

“You don’t have to tell me,” he quickly adds. 

“No, I, ugh,” you groan, slouching on your chair before straightening up again. “It’s just—I guess you could say we fought about… you?”

Seunghan almost chokes on his drink. “What.”

After taking the napkin you kindly gave him, he gathered his wits to finally reply, but he could only say “oh” like the inarticulate fool he was currently being.

“Please say something else,” you plead, “ this�� is actually embarrassing, you know?” 

“No, yeah, I get that—” he reasons, looking back at you with judgment-free eyes. “But… Why me? Did I do something wrong? I don’t want to be the reason you guys aren’t friends anymore, although I’m sure Anton will eventually come around regardless of a fight. Just give it a couple more days, maybe?”

“Yeah,” you concur, although dejectedly. “He’s my best friend… I don’t want to lose him over a silly fight.” 

“Are you calling me silly?” Seunghan blandly asks. 

You snort. “Not like that, obviously.” 

Seunghan unknowingly smiles at the sight of your grin, albeit small, but at least it’s something.

“So… why were you guys fighting about me?” he continues, watching for any shifts of your expression. “Actually, instead of just about me, is it about—us?” 

Your glare is almost scathing. “Mind reader.” 

“I’m not a mind-reader!”

“I don’t know,” you thankfully digress, suddenly looking anxious, “it’s kind of hard to explain why we fought…” 

“How come?” Seunghan tilts his head. 

Something gets stuck inside your throat the moment Seunghan looks back at you with that earnest expression of his. The kind to make you wanna spill out everything inside your mind, but at the same not because what’s in your mind should really only be reserved for yourself, just as how it has always been for the last four years or so. 

Who knew being face-to-face with him, in this context, in this exact moment, would suddenly reduce you to the same girl who could only pine for him from far away? 

He’s so close—just a table’s distance away from you, really—and yet he’s so far away. 

You tried not to let Anton’s messages get to you last night, but you’d be lying if you said that you didn’t lose sleep that night. How could you simply go to sleep when your best friend, the one who knew of your feelings since forever ago, basically told you that your feelings were shallow? How could you not stay awake after that? It made you angry, sure, but you were more sad of how lightly he talked of your feelings. There is nothing wrong in trying to move on from liking someone—and even if it never came to be that way, who did Anton think he was in the first place? How could he decide for you just like that? It’s not like it’s any of his goddamn business—

“Y/N?” 

“Oh, my God,” you squeak out, “I can’t believe I’m doing this.” 

“Doing what?” Seunghan asks, looking too concerned for your well-being. That’s so cute. He’s so cute. 

No! Keep yourself together, Y/N! Now’s not the time! You can’t believe that you’re going to confess to him inside a cafe. You’ve completely disregarded your romantic scenarios from when you were in high school, and now you’re spilling out your true feelings in this situation? In this context? God, it’s like you’re just asking for the universe to strike you down with lightning at this point. 

But there’s no time to be dramatic now. Everything you’ve been asking for has culminated into this point—all the longing, the yearning, the embarrassing complaints to your friends in the groupchat about how you wished he would just look back at you for once—all of that doesn't matter in the face of today. No more thinking, no more doubting, the time is now. You can do this—what’s so hard about confessing to the guy you’ve liked for the past, almost four years anyway? 

(A lot, you soon realize.)

You lock gazes with the seemingly clueless Seunghan, determination bursting forth within your eyes. You’ve been seeing each other for a couple weeks now, and, sure, this isn’t exactly the most normal of all situations to be in with the guy you like, but it’s something entirely unique to your own. You’ve gotten to know Seunghan more personally this year than you ever did throughout high school, and you had a lot of classes with him during that time! You know how he acts during certain situations (like that time with Wonbin), you know his hobbies (nerd shit like collecting pokemons), and you know his struggles—at least the ones he willingly shares with you during your late night calls. And the same goes for him, too. There is absolutely nothing regular about your relationship with him at this point, and it’s time to accept that you’re not just friends anymore. Perhaps you never had been. 

You can do this. Nothing can stop you now—

But all it takes is for Seunghan to merely tilt his head to the side, flash you a sweet, yet confused smile, and your mouth immediately clamps shut. 

He quickly looks concerned. “Are you really oka—” 

“I’ve liked you since tenth grade,” you cut him off, your words flying out of your mouth so fast you didn’t even have a moment to think before they started flowing out like a broken dam. “I’ve liked you the whole time ever since we got partnered up for that project in history class, and I still liked you even when you had a girlfriend but I never told you because we weren’t even close and I obviously didn’t wanna make a move when you were already taken with someone who was obviously so much better than me in every metric of society. I always thought that I’d never have a chance with you, but then Anton set us up together and I started having second thoughts because this is all so completely unfamiliar to me and the fact that you guys just broke up like a couple months ago made me insecure.” 

“But then after that time when you joined me in Calculus I realized I still liked you, because you’re just that… that captivating to me and I realized we get along pretty well, or maybe I could just be imagining all that, I don’t know anymore. I’m, uh, actually so smitten with you it’s not even funny anymore, but—” you pull away your sleeve to check at your nonexistent watch, “—oh, would you look at the time! It’s almost time for my next class, haha. I’ll just go now before I embarrass myself in front of you any further. Um, see you later. Maybe never. Say hi to Sungchan for me.”

You quickly pack your things, avoiding Seunghan’s awestruck gaze, before you’re zooting straight out of the cafe without looking back.

Cool. Cool. Cool. Cool. It’s all cool. It’s not like you just basically spilled out your whole heart out in public or something, with people probably listening in on the dumpster fire otherwise known as Y/N, aka you, aka the idiot who decided that it was the perfect time to confess to her crush. Is this the karma you get for never having once moved on? For liking the same person all this time? Instead of going to class, all you want to do right now is cry. 

You make it half the block with your sanity intact before Seunghan starts chasing after you, having finally snapped out of his unnecessary stupor. 

“Wait, Y/N!”

A few heads turn, but otherwise pay no mind to the watered-down K-Drama moment about to commence in broad daylight. 

You don’t turn around, too busy repeating your humiliating speech inside your head like a broken record. What are you gonna do now? There’s no way you can face him again after saying all that! It’s so over, he definitely thinks you’re a total weirdo for liking him all this time. You even brought up his ex! Now he definitely thinks you’ve been plotting to get with him since the very beginning, and then he’ll call things off with you and you’ll be alone and miserable and—and—

A hand lands on your shoulder. You shriek. 

“Holy fuck!” Seunghan practically jumps away from you as if you’ve burnt him. “I did not expect you to scream like that… my bad.”

You gape at him. “S…Seunghan? Um, why are you…?” 

“I…” he starts, the pink on his cheeks almost being mistaken for blush when really he was just a little out of breath. You try not to get your hopes up, though it’s admittedly hard not to. 

Seunghan blinks owlishly. “Woah, this is hard.” 

Asshole. You shove him impatiently. “Just say it! I feel like I’m gonna die! God!” 

“Fine! I like you too!” Seunghan finally admits, landing both hands on your shoulder to steady you. Or himself. Blood might be rushing to his ears from all the excitement, and he doesn’t know if that’s a good thing or not. Probably both. Nothing matters anymore. 

You pause, staring up at him like he did at you earlier: awestruck and at a complete loss of words. He—what? 

“I want to be your boyfriend!” 

“Huh?”

“Who the hell do you think you are, man?” Seunghan continues, aggressively shaking you back and forth. “You were spilling out a whole congressional speech in front of me, and you didn’t even give me a second to respond to you! You think you’re the only one who has something to say? I’ve been waiting for the right moment to ask you out!” 

After a couple more shakes, he finally relents after realizing that you’re probably losing brain cells to fully comprehend his confession. Which seems like the perfect revenge after you left him hanging back at the cafe, but Seunghan realizes that he’d rather have you functioning properly now than letting time waste by any further. He hasn’t felt this exhilarated about a confession since, well, he was a sophomore in high school, but it was a feeling he nonetheless welcomed wholeheartedly.

“You… you were?” you ask, dumbly. “But I thought… I thought that you weren’t really into me…” 

He looks at you, incredulous. “Why not? Y/N, you’re amazing. You’re funny. I like talking to you, I like hanging out with you—heck, all I want is to keep listening to you talk about plants even though you clearly don’t do enough research on how to properly care for them because I think you’re cute!” 

“What?!” you exclaimed, offended. “You think I’m killing my plants?” 

“Um, I also think you’re cute, but yeah, focus on that I guess.” 

“I’m slowly killing my plants, and you didn’t even think to intervene?” you wailed, shrugging away from him. “I don’t think this relationship can work out…” 

Seunghan stares at you sternly. “Y/N, I’m being serious.” 

You gulp. “I—I am, too. I’m really serious!” 

He slowly takes your hand in his, and your breath hitches at the contact. This new side to him has you admittedly all flustered. Seunghan gingerly looks you in the eye, the previous dramatics in his tone completely erased when he repeats, “I want to be your boyfriend. Can I be your boyfriend, Y/N?” 

Sure, Seunghan might have been a little unsure at the start when he found out about his friends being fed up about him lamenting over the loss of his high school ex-girlfriend, and it was true that he felt iffy when he had that date with Shin Yuna at Kwangya Cafe set up by his meddlesome friends, but what Seunghan knows is that he has never been as sure as he is right now when it comes to you. Because you’re different from his ex-girlfriend, from Shin Yuna, or from any other girl out there in the world—and Seunghan is different now, too. 

And you know what? Fuck Taylor Swift’s “All Too Well (10 Minute Version)”, because he never cared about Princeton in the first place anyway. He was more of a Harvard guy, even though he’s currently attending SMU. 

You close your eyes. 

A couple seconds pass, before Seunghan awkwardly speaks up. “Um, what are you doing?”

You blink them open, looking at him confusedly. “What? I’m waiting for you to kiss me.” 

Seunghan stares at you blankly, before a smile breaks out on his face and then he throws his head back with a huge guffaw. You gawk at him indignantly, wandering what’s so funny about your actions—that was a perfectly normal response to his confession, wasn’t it? You’re technically dating now, right? What the—

“You silly,” Seunghan says, his shoulders mildly shaking. You pout at him, and he pats your head affectionately. “You have to say yes first. We’re not a couple in my eyes until you give me your verbal permission.” 

You roll your eyes. “You’re such a green flag. Yes, Hong Seunghan, you can be my boyfriend.” 

“You say that like it’s a bad thing,” he says, his eyes twinkling. “Thank you for accepting me as your boyfriend. Now close your eyes.” 

Your heart skips, but you nonetheless oblige. Seunghan leans over, slowly capturing your lips in his. 

And suddenly everything feels right. It was just a soft, fleeting moment that didn't even last for more than a second, and maybe it was closer to a peck than a full-blown kiss, but you grab it and you take it with you anyway. It’s like freshly blown bubbles swimming in the air, a cloud-shaped cotton candy, or the feeling of catching a rare pokemon after looking around for so long—the feeling of having every problem in the past dissolve into nothing, but the lingering taste of sweet memories remain. 

It feels unbelievably just like Hong Seunghan. 

And maybe that’s all you ever needed.

No, I don't think it's just you, as I've actually talked to a few folks over DM who have noticed it as well...

The thing is, I don't think it's just this picture. It felt like David's entire appearance on the One Show was "off" somehow. There could be any number of reasons for it--he's been busy filming GO 3, flying to and from the set, doing rehearsals and press for the BAFTAs, or just because the One Show tends to be very hit and miss in general (a big miss was David and Michael's unfortunately straight-washed appearance in 2023). But as I watched a few clips from the show tonight, there seemed to be something about his demeanor that just wasn't like usual.

It was most noticeable (at least in my opinion) at this moment, when David was answering a question about celebrating the British film industry:

The most likely explanation is that David was tired, but I think something to consider is that there are different kinds of tired. We've seen David give interviews while tired before, but he is still always upbeat in those, despite being tired. Take, for example, the BAFTA promo video from just the other day. David clearly looks tired in this video and his eyes are red (likely from just getting over being sick during the Macbeth run last Fall, which is when that promo was filmed). Despite that, however, he is still cheerful and sparkly (and funny!) in his responses, in the way that we've all come to know and love.

But in the clip from the One Show here, that's exactly what is missing. David's responses seem far more muted and subdued, which is very unlike him. For this particular question, you can tell that he knows he should be enthusiastic in answering, which is what makes it so much more noticeable that he can't quite muster it up. So that makes me feel like what we're seeing here is David being tired in the mental/emotional sense, rather than physical. It's a feeling of weariness mixed with preoccupation--as if his mind is somewhere else other than in that interview--and I can only guess as to what or who is causing it.

As I said above, there's a good chance this is all tied into the hectic schedule David must have right now, and that once the BAFTAs are over, he'll feel a lot better. I just feel sad for him more than anything else, and hope that he can soon be free from whatever is weighing on his mind...

Hi Besties! 

I know I sort of just... disappeared, and I’m very sorry for worrying you.

To everyone who sent me an ask or dm checking on me: I really appreciate you. I'm not going to publish them, because I don’t think you sent them to me so that I would publish them, but thank you so much for caring about me and taking the time to send me a note of love and support. 

It means a lot to me to know that so many of you think about me and notice when I'm not around. I think we can all agree that that’s a really nice feeling. It says a lot about who you are as people and confirms the fact that we have built such a lovely little corner of the internet together. I'm a firm believer in the fact tumblr, and any other fan space or social media website, should always bring joy and positivity to your life. And if it's not, you should do something else. 

Nobody is getting paid to be here. We all choose to spend our free time here to relax, and unwind, and share a laugh with other people who share our weird little interests. I'm so grateful that my blog, and everyone who follows and interacts with me, has always kept it a light-hearted, supportive place. I know a lot of other big blogs can’t say the same thing, and they are constantly receiving hate and rude people in their inboxes. So thank you for helping me keep this a safe space where we can giggle and gossip and support each other.

Let’s address the elephant in the room. 

I disappeared from the internet for a lot of reasons, but mostly because... I am feeling very guilty and overwhelmed about my lack of writing. It's easier for me to disappear and avoid it altogether than to feel like I’m disappointing anyone. 

But let me be clear: these feelings are totally and 100% my own. Nobody is making me feel this way. Nobody is sending me anon hate, or demanding updates, or telling me that I've let them down. This is an expectation and standard I have put on myself, and I feel like I am failing myself when it comes to writing.

And that’s just something I have to deal with. 

Writing fanfiction has been a major part of my life since I was 12 years old (albeit, very bad fanfiction at 12 years old.) It’s a hobby that I will never move on from. And honestly, the older I get, the more I fall in love with it. I think fanfiction gets a lot of hate from people who don’t understand it or have never read it, but fanfiction is an important part of fan culture and brings so many people together. 

Some of the most powerful, impacting, and lasting words I’ve ever read were all from fanfiction. The words that haunt me, or that I think about over and over again are all from fanfiction. And I think that’s why I put so much pressure on myself when it comes to writing. 

I don’t want to publish something that is not my best work. I don’t want to update something just to update it; I want it to be exactly the way I envisioned it, if not better. I want it to mean something to you. I want you to love it, or laugh at it, or cry to it, or whatever that fic or that chapter is supposed to bring out of you. 

I haven’t opened my google docs for more than 5 minutes in... months. 

Just thinking about it overwhelms me because I feel like I’ve backed myself into a corner that I don’t want to be in. It’s silly and not as dramatic as I’m making it seem, but I wish I could go back and delete a few paragraphs at the end of the last chapter of the mastermind fic, so that the next chapter could be something... different. 

And I know that I technically could do that, but that doesn’t seem right either, because it would be confusing to everyone who is current with the fic and especially those who have read it multiple times and are expecting the next chapter to be something. 

Silly, right? 

But I feel very trapped by my wip right now.

When I wrote my other long fics like Long Live or Vapor, I didn’t post them as wips and I could go back and completely change the course of the story if I wanted to. But you can’t really do that with a wip. (Again, I know I technically could, but it would be very confusing.) I had this entire story mapped out in a timeline of how I wanted things to go, and so far have followed that, but I’m feeling very... trapped by it now. That’s the only word I can think of to describe it. 

I’m going to find a way out of this writing slump I’m in. I promise you will. I have to. The fic, the characters, you, and I deserve this fic to continue and to grow into what I know they should be. I’m just struggling a lot with the idea of writing this next chapter because I wish it could be something different. 

I’m not sure any of that makes sense, but maybe you get it. 

I’m sorry I disappeared. 

When my fight or flight kicks in, I always choose flight.

I’m going to try and be better.

i did this last year. really simple concept. you give me a few characters you like and i will draw a silly little doodle for you and send you an ask (or dm or tag you in a post with if i can’t send it in an ask for whatever reason) on christmas day!! i will have this post queued to go up multiple times a day so hopefully people don’t miss it sorry if it gets annoying fast LMAO

some answers to potential questions and clarifications here:

-you are not required to give me a doodle in return, you can if you want but you do not have to!! there is no pressure to!!! if you do want to make a return gift though then characters i like i’ll list them at the bottom

I’m curious how you think Gale would handle his beloved Tav who has epilepsy? It’s something I’ve struggled with for about 8 years now, and it’s a disability now often recognized.

Do you think he’d make some sort of potion to stop the seizures? Or maybe he’d enchanted a piece of jewelry to stop them? Idk, whatever you think!

For me my seizures typically happen within an hour of waking up, and are trigger by flashing lights and sleep deprivation. My seizures are always grand Mal seizures, which basically means I violently convulse and lose consciousness for a short period of time. If you have any questions or anything, feel free to DM me! @nerbyrobotics, I’m so sorry that you have to deal with such a severe condition, but I’m happy to answer your question because I can’t think of a better or more loving partner for someone struggling with epilepsy than Gale.

You know, one of the reasons I think Gale would be absolutely amazing at caring for a partner with health issues isn’t just because of his loving heart and kind nature—both of which are still very important qualities!—but because he knows what it is like to have a debilitating condition. One where he was wholly dependent on others helping him and offering him assistance during his flare-ups. After experiencing such a condition and the stress and anxiety that goes along with it, Gale would be completely empathetic to his beloved’s struggle and would go out of his way to do whatever he could to ease their burden.

Of course, I think if there were any possibility of Gale curing Tav completely, he would go for it—even if doing so had a fair chance of danger (to him, not Tav). If a cure wasn’t possible, then the next option he would try would be exactly what you said: potions or enchanted jewelry to prevent the seizures entirely—and you’d best believe he’d stay on top of keeping those potions filled and that jewel enchanted at all times.

If prevention was not possible, then Gale would set up some sort of means of proactive protection—for example, enchanted jewelry for both Tav and Gale that would give an alert that a seizure was imminent so they could prepare for it. There would be pillows enchanted to always protect Tav’s head during an episode, and Gale’s mirror image on standby to assist Tav if needed, whether ‘real’ Gale was present at the time or not.

In short, Tav would never be left with the anxiety of being alone, or unprepared, or feeling like a burden in dealing with their health—because Gale would know how awful that feels, and would do everything in his power to give his beloved the security and confidence to live their life to the fullest, while still being fully prepared to help them overcome any obstacles arising from their epilepsy.

Op, I sincerely hope you have someone like Gale in your life to offer you loving support through your health journey, and I wish you nothing but the best in your future. 💜
