Hi all!

I hope this is the last post we need to make about this. Please do not turn our appreciation event into a battleground to fight other shippers. We will not be responding to any more posts on the matter, nor will we be reblogging/interacting/tolerating negativity toward people who ship things we do not. That is antithetical to our community of eluciens who want to enjoy shipping Elain and Lucien without needlessly fighting.

If some folks want to host a longer event, they are welcome to do so- there is no rule that says we can only have one elucien week. But this event, which has historically hosted every elucien week since the inception of the ship, will not be doing a longer event, nor will we do so simply to "bombard" other shippers with content. We create out of love, not dislike, and I hope I am not the only person who believes this.

Please block tags if they offend you and otherwise remember that other shippers host events for the same reason we do- they love their pairing and want to get together as a community to celebrate that. We will continue to be supportive of our larger ACOTAR community.

May I entice the masses with the concept of a Will Wood Jukebox Musical?

Around a month ago me and a good friend of mine were listening to Will Wood’s discography and they offhandedly threw “Wouldn’t it be cool if someone made a Mama Mia equivalent with his songs?” into the air.

This thought stuck with me for a while until I found myself incredibly bored during a 3 hour-long road trip and decided to kill some time.

Preface aside, I present…

A young couple attempt to escape the hardships of life by moving to a far-off picture-perfect town known by locals as ‘Suburbia’. Despite it’s shining appearance, the couple are troubled by unsettling peculiarities bursting at the suburb’s seams- but what’s a village without a little cooky culture?

Character Breakdown:

• James Campbell - An alcohol-dependent horror writer down on his publishing luck.

• Dai Lu Lee - A doctor specialising in the care of farm animals with an unfortunate talent for disappointing her parents.

• Cassie Logan - James & Dai Lu’s next door neighbour with an unsettling sense of humour.

• Morgan Logan - Cassie’s reserved wife working as a forensic investigator for the local PD with a predisposition to bad first impressions.

Act Synopses:

[Act 1]

James and Dai Lu, freshly engaged and already exhausted from life’s baggage, strike a ‘too-good-to-be-true’ deal on a down payment for a quaint home in the unmarked town of Suburbia. After being warmly welcomed by the ever so charming Mayor and their next door neighbours Cassie and Morgan, the couple begin to unwillingly face some of their fatal flaws as Dai Lu is forced to stare her regretful decision making right in its ugly face.

[Act 2]

James may recognise his now hard-to-hide attachment to alcohol, but he is far from apologetic about it. Frequenting a newly discovered bar on the outskirts of town results in his fiancée finding herself in a rather unusual predicament. Forced to work for a sleazy underground cabaret bar, she preforms a number detailing The Mayor’s dark and unfortunate past. All the while, The Mayor himself is trying to seduce her partner into a life overflowing with sin and dubious spiritual ties. Upon being reunited through the brilliant detective work of Morgan, the couple have yet another handful of complicated feelings to sort through.

[Act 3]

Decades of pious work from The Mayor’s hands finally come to a head as he no longer attempts to hide his servitude to a being he was never quite sure how to please. The town descends into uncertain insanity as every individual is consumed by their corrosive and abandoned insecurities. Dai Lu never quite moves past her disagreements with her parents, James never quite makes peace with being an utterly unremarkable writer and Morgan never quite solves the case that’s been scratching at the back of her mind for years. All those lives are, however, lost in vain as The Mayor misinterprets his Patron’s asks. The town of Suburbia stands desolate, bare, and belonging to a man who’s greatest desire is to be rid of it’s burden.

Standing face to face with the men who kidnapped their sons was bone-chilling, to say the least. Jodie stood there, ears plugged on account of Erin’s warning to their group, unable to hear anything of what was being said from the purple robes in front of them. 

Jodie and Henry watched the muffled back-and-forth between Darryl, Ron and the robed figures, until Paeden turned to the two of them, flicking his ears in a gesture of take out your earplugs. 

The tallest robe steps forward towards the dads, “You are going to answer yes or no to the following question: you will let us raise your children, in exchange we will help you leave the Forgotten Realms today. And not only that…”

The shortest one approaches Jodie, producing a small cellphone from the depths of their robe. Jodie takes a step back, hand inching towards his firearm on his holster. 

“I believe you have a call.”

… A call?

The only people capable of producing phone calls in this dimension were themselves to their wives, and Scam Likely - and seeing how the latter recently met his demise, Jodie doubts either option. 

Jodie gingerly takes the cellphone from the hooded figure and puts it to his ear.

“... Hello?”

“Hey man! How’s it hangin’?”

The phone almost slips from his hand. That can’t be him- he’s dead, he’s been dead- He steadies his breathing as he can feel himself about to choke up. 

“... Glenn? Is that- is that you?”

“Yeah dawg, did you lose my number already? I’ve been gone for, what, a month now? I woulda hoped you’d wait a bit longer than that, at least two.”

“No, no, no, no - I didn’t- What I meant was.. you’ve- I-”

“Relax dude, I was joking. Anyways, I’m calling to tell you that I’m on my way back! Dad and I are gonna be in town for a couple days and I wanted to see if you were down to hang out. I’m thinkin’ McDonalds?”

“.... What year is it?” Jodie can feel himself beginning to hyperventilate. Out of all things, a call from his late brother was the last thing he was expecting to deal with since coming into this realm and losing his kid. The thought crossed his mind when they were faced with the whole Terry Senior situation, but once all the Dads agreed that they were indeed not dead, Jodie tried not to give it any more thought. His brother’s been dead for at least a decade now, he can’t afford to spiral down that theory again. Not now. Not here, not when he was so close to getting his son back. 

“...Dude, are you okay? Don’t tell me you went through my shit, dammit. It’s like 1 in the afternoon! Did you eat anything? If it was the gummies on my desk- ”

“Glenn, answer the question - please.” 

“It's 1996. Joe, listen to me, man. You’re gonna be alright, just hang in there. Put on a movie, sit your ass down on the couch - I’ll be home in about 2 hours. Is mom home?”

“I- uhh…”

“Alright, forget about that. Just relax, you’ll be fine. Try to enjoy it! I’ll see you later.”

I've been thinking about trying to write(/actually post) more one-shot written things about my AUs, like the one I wrote here for fossil AU. I already have one that's technically post-ready quality for Reflection AU, but I'm curious if any of you have any particular AUs you'd be curious in hearing more about.

I also have some much, much older writing for Combee AU and 2D AU, but I'm not sure how much editing I would need to do because I wrote those years ago and I don't remember if they make sense out of context.

Thoughts? I'm still working on STDNW Chapter 2, which is substantially closer to being finished than it was two months ago, and I don't want to pull my main focus away from that for too long :squint: but maybe some smaller prompts for that would be better instead of worse. I dunno. Hard to say. I also don't really want to do any smaller/shorter writing for Coupled (Uncoupled) yet either because that's something I wanna make a Main Fic out of, but I don't want to start writing it until steady tracks chapter 2 is finally done. I dunno. It feels like a bad idea to have two potentially long fics fighting for my attention. I don't wanna procrastinating steady tracks by working on coupled (uncoupled) Other than that, door's wide open. Lemme know what you guys might be interested in, I want to try and post more writing publicly (because god knows I have so much of it that i just keep to myself) I'm not super great at writing anything under 3k words long so. I suppose this is also me trying to break out of my chronic longfic habits. I mean for jirachi's sake look at the length of this post

the player, diluc thinks, is an incredibly endearing being.

he's come a long way from the curt and wary attitude he used to put on around the traveler (and by extension, you), and today is one of those days where he finds himself privately thanking whatever powers there may be that allowed your paths to cross, with him staring at the reflection of you hidden deep within the traveler's eyes in the wake of his fight with the abyss that fateful night in mondstadt.

as one of the first people to have their constellations manifest in the sky of teyvat, diluc is more than aware that the fact that you still choose to ask for his company in your (or, well, the traveler's) journey is a gift he must treasure deeply. he knows that it is your presence in this world that gives vision bearers a chance to become something greater than they presently are. he also knows that he is no longer as impressive of a companion in battle as he used to be from back when the sky wasn't as bright as it is now (when the world you knew was smaller and he was still a figure that you could look to and proudly call "your main").

but you always come back to him. when he least expects it, you invite him back to your party and diluc can't help but privately think, privately wish, that it's because you're as fond of him as he is of you.

standing in silent prayer while you bestow upon him artifacts that thrum with divine power is an experience he can never tire of. the claymores you give him, the food he eats, all the materials he needs to reach a breakthrough in his capabilities... he understands that you aren't teyvat's creator, but this world and everything in it seems to exist just for you. you, the provider, the sustainer, the beloved of all. sometimes, diluc feels that everything he has and ever worked for have all been for the sake of one day meeting you.

he's not a religious man by principle, and he loathes people of absolute power. the only exception to this, however, is you. he's not foolish enough to believe you're some omnipotent, omniscient being that lords above all. no, you're not like that. he knows this because the longer he journeys with the traveler and feels their bond strengthen, the faint whispers he used to strain himself to hear grow clearer and clearer until finally, one day, he hears you.

you're both nothing and everything he thought you'd be. you view the world of teyvat with so much awe and joy that it's infectious, and he finds himself smiling more often than not to the privilege of finally hearing you. the traveler always looks at him with an understanding smile when diluc slows down in their travels to listen to you. he lives for the moments when you talk to yourself or to someone else (a companion of your own, maybe? from your place beyond the stars?) because this is how he learns. your favorite food, your favorite nations, your favorite "characters" and more. he holds every morsel of information you unknowingly give close to his chest where all his affections and wishes hide. he likes to think that this way, he can be closer and better for you.

but he knows he's not the only one who hears you, and it is the traveler that is closest to you out of all them. even so, diluc harbors no ill will to the avatar you chose to see and travel the world through. you're so fond of the traveler, and how could he ever come to loathe anything graced by your love?

he knows how to play nice. it helps that most of your other chosen are people he can find himself enjoying the company of as well. diluc understands that as much as he wants to be the sole holder of your attention, the world does not function that way. he's willing to extend an olive branch so long as they can all work together to keep you present in teyvat. he can worry about his more aggressive competition later when they aren't at risk of being caught in such an unsightly state by you — all that matters to him, right now, is how to keep your gaze on him for just a little longer and keep you from leaving him again.

it's a daunting thing to be so close to your grace. you take diluc to lands he'd never thought he'd visit again, to ruins of civilizations long past, domains with unimaginable horrors and have him run, claymore and vision burning at his hip, into fight after fight at your command. it's tiring at best and painful at worst, but you always take care to heal him and his companions before leaving, and you always lead them somewhere safe to rest until teyvat brightens and you come again.

his current companions (his "supports", he inwardly preens) rest and talk amongst themselves once they feel your presence leave. it used to be something they, your chosen, would panic over, but now that they've gotten more used to you and all the signs that pointed that yes, this is your will, they've grown to be able to tolerate the harrowing chill that comes when your warmth leaves them. diluc leans back on his chair in front of good hunter to observe them. they're all people he's come to grow fond of in time: diona was prickly, yes, but ha become pleasant to be around once they grew past their misunderstandings. the young master of the feiyun commerce guild, xingqiu, was also a reliable companion both in and outside of battle, and for all his faults, venti has proven himself to be a devout believer, unwilling to be a burden to you or the party you've guided him towards.

under normal circumstances, he never would've met and forged such strong bonds with these people. if not for your own interference, he never would've bothered getting to know any of them at all. though he may have his own gripes and complaints at times of how their dynamic works when you're not around, diluc is still fond of them. he's grateful for the opportunity to grow close to people again, and traveling the world alongside them and the traveler has become one of the few things he's begun to look forward to outside of his duties as "diluc, master of dawn winery." when the day is done and he can sit and relax with them in the tables in front of good hunter, he can rest in the company of others who understand the near-maddening pull in his chest that draws him to try and get closer, closer, to you.

it's days like these where diluc quietly thanks whatever it is brought you to them, and prays that one day, he will no longer have to search through the traveler's eyes to see you.

On the post about your dad, while I'm aware of the issues around the choice of words, I myself have NPD and pwNPD can ABSOLUTELY be abusive if we're not self aware or otherwise trying to change our behaviours. I do my best to steer away from being emotionally abusive towards my partners but there have been times where they had to tell me to back the hell off. Not just that, I have an uncle who is the DSM textbook version of a narcissist. I'm aware I might get bashed for this, but I don't really care.

yeah like the thing is that I don't believe that narcissist traits are inherently abusive, but in this specific instance they very much are. While narcissism has negative connotations, I see it as a neutral characteristic that people are just like...naturally prone to do. The reason why NPD is a disorder is because that trait becomes overexaggerated to the point of it being maladaptive to the person who's got it, but that doesn't mean that they're inherently dangerous or abusive. However, if they're allowed to go unchecked then they very much can be abusive. In the case of my father, they are. It's not 'he's abusive BECAUSE he's a narcissist', its 'his abusive behaviors are all derived from the fact that he think that he's the only person who knows how anything in this world works, and he becomes violent if he perceives that he's being contradicted or disrespected'. Like, he's flown into an outright violent rage before over me saying 'hi' to my birds when I got home from school instead of him. Doesn't matter that I saw them first while he was somewhere upstairs doing god knows what, it still ended with him screaming about how I'm a rude, disrespectful, ungrateful piece of shit and how he should kill them or sell them off so that I would 'prioritize my family', and any attempts at telling him he was way overblowing that just made him angrier. I couldn't give less of a lick of a shit if he felt that way but kept it down/backed off after I clarified, but he never did. Even gentle attempts at trying to explain that he was over the top was seen as disrespecting him and could trigger another rage. I know bc that's how most of our fights go lmfao

idk, I just don't believe that disallowing people to say anything negative about a stigmatized trait isn't actually helpful to dismissing that stigma in the first place. A good example that I can think of where I'm qualified to speak on it would be OCD intrusive thoughts. People woobified the shit outta them as being shit like 'jump off this cliff' instead of 'this person who you just met is going to rape you and you need to be prepared to gouge out his eyes to get away/ you can crush this infant's skull so easily, here let's go through a step-by-step- playthrough of how that would feel and sound and smell as you cradle them', and now when people with actual OCD go around talking about or depicting those intrusive thoughts through art or writing, we're labeled as dangerous psychopaths. When in reality, as long as nobody is going through with any of that shit, there's nothing actually dangerous or wrong about having them. It's the severity of the person's actions that matter over everything else.

I’ve been wanting to reopen commissions soon but I rly need to make new examples, maybe try to figure out what ppl are most interested in (I think my most commissioned items are always icons, so? Those will be included) and what I can do…I also want to refigure my prices. Like I do want them to be affordable, and I do love drawing for ppl, but I also want to make sure I have the bandwidth + time for them and also feel like I’m being compensated properly since I do have a job now so they would be the Side Thing aaa TwT

but I’m finally at a place where I feel like. Not burnt out after every week and I’m in a nice routine now and pretty used to my job, so I feel like I can handle more on the side. Very excited abt that. Not excited abt making new examples or figuring out what I wanna offer etc tho I hate the logistics of commissions. Part of me wants to do a pay what u want thing with a set minimum and maybe start exclusively offering them thru kofi since it’s so easy, but we’ll see!!
