atticus was early for their first of many of the divorce proceedings with his soon to be ex wife. he was standing at his side of the table with his partner beside him when the blonde walked in, her own lawyer in tow. “you can stop right there and just hand me the house keys.” he said once he saw who was behind her. a cocky smile spread across his lips, if anything he knew exactly how to delay all the paperwork enough to drive them both crazy. he had faced them in court before and won - - twice. “nice dress though, you know that’s one of my favorites.”

          breeze was just looking for a quiet night to herself. maybe the local bar wasn’t the best place to do that since men kept attempting to flock to her but she made it abundantly clear that she was not interested in their mediocre attempts. breeze was classy; she didn’t want beer nor a vodka red bull but instead a nice glass of red wine. she felt eyes on her, staring holes into her. she looks over and notices a rather... attractive man sizing her up.      ❛      i know. what is this blonde chick doing drinking red wine in a place like this ? well listen, i can drink whatever i damn well please wherever. so stop giving me that look. i get that enough from the bartender      ❜    she defends herself. she’s on edge, clearly. she was looking for a break but instead couldn’t let go of the hostility in her; not even for a single night.

clara wasn’t one for profanities, but if any situation would make think ‘oh fuck’ it was the one she’d just created. it was meant to be a nice brunch with her boyfriend, one for him to ‘apologise’ for how he’d been treating her. it was the same old routine they went through whenever she found the courage to break up with him, and then he inevitably talked her back down. what was also part of their routine, was him inviting his friends along - wanting her to simply be something pretty on his arm while he spoke with his friends. something complicated this time with the fact she’d certainly crossed a line with his friend. shifting uncomfortably in her seat, she waited until her boyfriend had to take a call before turning to the other. “if you could... not mention anything about last night to him, it... it would be appreciated.”

‘‘I can’t believe we’re having this conversation right now.’‘ austin said as a laughed left his lips. it was a bizarre conversation to have - especially in a bar. was it 3:30 pm on the dot and nobody was there? yes. it didn’t change the fact however that both of them were experiencing some really strong feelings in regards to the topic. ‘‘i also can’t believe you’re shitting on my favorite christmas song like this. like, i get it, he’s not everyone’s cup of tea but, he’s honestly the goat. it’s upbeat, it’s fun.’‘ it was certainly distracting him from the fact that he was supposed to be hanging out with his miserable family right about now - yet here he was. his family was probably fighting over what meal to have and whatnot. hell, he didn’t even like christmas all that much. or perhaps, it had something to do with his family he also didn’t even like all that much. ‘‘look, shouldn’t you be doing your job and getting me another beer? that’d be absolutely helpful.’‘

          “It’s a very important conversation, especially this time of year, and the bar being empty and nothing else for me to do.” Which was very true, not a lot of patrons this close to Christmas, most trying to pretend they wanted to be with their families rather than here, drinking away until they felt numb and free. It wasn’t even worth singing, really, though she donned on her Santa dress and hat atop of her head just in case she felt like singing to herself on stage. A gig was a gig, as well as a job, and if that meant one more experience of singing on stage, well... A laugh, soft, let out at that. “I’m not shitting on it, like it’s a good song, but, I just feel more for Last Christmas. I’ll belt that out the whole year, but it means something during Christmas, it just does. No offense to Sir Paul, I guess.” Though, definitely not her cup of tea, if she was honest. She scoffed at him, though, holding her hands up in offense, “Oh, we had to go to the do your job route, huh? That’s such a Karen move and you know it. Unfortunately, just so we’re clear, the manager isn’t in today, it’s all me. Seeing as it’s usually dead right now.” Taking his glass, replacing it with a nice frosted one and filled it with the beer on tap, she placed it in front of him. “Y’know, for someone that loves a song about having a wonderful christmas time, doesn’t seem like you are. It’s getting late, or at least close to being dark, don’t you... I don’t know... Have some Christmas Spirit to spread around to loved ones and all that?”
