what i mean is that they used to come as complete pieces of art. you used to get the full album as it was intended to be heard on one album, you didn’t have this fragmented mess of needing this version to hear these tracks and that version to get this track, and never getting the full piece to appreciate because then she won’t be able to sell as many odds and ends. it has nothing to do with being a rEaL fAn, and frankly that’s a very childish thing to say like are you 12 lol??, and everything to do with the fact that this whole exclusive tracks and 10+ versions of her albums makes her work come off very scattered. still good songs, but it’s like looking at a puzzle that someone picked up and shattered on the floor

Here is my ranking of the deluxe versions of Taylor Swift’s albums with explanation that nobody asked for

1. Midnights (3 am editon)

7 new songs and they all hit you like a TRAIN. Not to mention that the purple CD is technically a deluxe version and it has HITS DIFFERENT? And I absolutely love that she decided to stick with the theme of midnights and name it 3 am edition instead of deluxe edition. And then proceeded to release it AT 3 AM. Peak Marketing. TOP of the pyramid.

2. 1989

All 3 new song on the deluxe are INCREDIBLE. You are in love is like the most underrated song ever. And, I’m a sucker for voice memos.

3. Fearless

5 new songs and a piano version of one of the best song on the album. And the Other Side of the Door is an absolute BANGER.

4. Red

I would’ve put this one lower if the 3 new songs didn’t slap so hard. Come Back… Be Here… is SO SICK. And I LOVE the voice memos, and the acoustic version of State of Grace is one of the best acoustic versions out there

5. Evermore

Everyone is SO MEAN to this album, and I didn’t memorize the lyrics of long story short for y’all to forget your manners. She deserves more attention. But It’s time to go is SO GOOD and I absolutely ADORE right where you left me

6. Folklore

It was hard for me to put this one this low because I love the lakes. My only problem is that it doesn’t have anything else on deluxe.

7. Speak Now

I like the 3 new songs, and the only reason it’s this low is because I don’t like the red dress on the deluxe cover. The songs didn’t stick out to me tho, if I’m being honest

Reputation, Lover, and Debut don’t have deluxe versions, so they automatically go at the bottom.

Mini memory unlock but I always hear about people talk about the song looping thing and didn’t realize that was me for a bit because no one mentioned the attachment to the loop. It had to be that song. If it wasn’t that song my day would be ruined. I would wake up excited to turn the song on again. I knew all the words to the song and would sing along very loudly. I drove my siblings, parents, and relatives up the wall to the point where now that I’m older I’m convinced they must have experienced a roller coaster of emotions when they turned the radio on and I got excited. And I switched just frequently enough that I would learn the words to enough songs that they couldn’t escape it. I once memorized an entire Taylor Swift album because my parents bought me the CD and I let the songs take turns being the loop song for whatever period of time they lasted until they were literally Engraved On My Mind.
