thank you so much for the ask! I'm doing them for Fearghar Mercar since he's my Canon Rook (and because all of Geralt's answers would be alongs the line of "So, there was this time during my training as a Crow...")

🍀 Has Rook had any near-death experiences? What went through their mind during what they thought was going to be their final moments?

Nothing interesting pre-games, but Fearghar did canonically cheerful go "And now I die" at Weisshaupt firmly convinced he was going to die and all that went through his head was "one must die of something".

Fearghar is very idealistically driven, he joined the Shadow Dragons more on the The World Must Change principle than on the Tevinter Sucks Specifically principle and he saw it as his life not being anymore fully his but The Cause's. As long as he feels like his death has meaning, he's weirdly okay with it. He truly thought that once they took one God out, the rest of the team could take care of the rest. I think he only really regretted that he wouldn't be around to somehow have anyone BUT Davrin take out the Archdemon (look, HIS life is expendable, the lives of friends and loved ones are not).

On a lighter note, we can argue that all the time he, a warrior dwarf, had to do a very long jump over the abyss, he was like great, now I die in the stupidest way possible.

🪻 What is the most painful injury your Rook has received? How has it affected them once it healed/scarred?

Physically, he once broke his fucking hand during training as a wee lad and it still cramps up sometimes and he got a fucking ax in his leg during a job. He was with the Shadow Dragons by then so it was healed pretty well, but he got a tattoo over it because it feels weird that he saw his own bones and now there is nothing over it. Healing Magic is wild.

Emotionally, when attacking a group of slavers they weren't fast enough to stop the counterract - and he got hit hard on the chest, so he immediately hit back and ended up with a blood-magic controlled slave on his sword. He's going to remember seeing the light going out of their eyes because he reacted instinctively instead of fucking thinking until the day he dies.

also not going to lie the first time I played Veilguard and caught her writing steamy romances and then she said she had "a personal question" I was SO sure that's where it was going... and now I find out that yes, she does want to know? missed opportunity right here, bioware.

(althought my Prime Timeline Canon Worldstate Of Whatever it's a Lucanis romance and I suspect most people don't ask Lucanis because they can Sense he needs time to adjust to it first)

(also because objectively there is zero drama in that romance. "Oh I was in love with him and I gave him space to decide how to deal with that on his own terms. And now we spend a lot of time chatting in the kitchen" least compelling romance to turn into a serial of my whole worldstate. "Yeah he's possessed by a demon who turns out when he sleeps. Oh yeah it was difficult to explain that he needs to check that he has clothes on before leaving but he's got it now. He brings coffee to Neve a lot.")
