Okay so... Christoph and Catherine were classmates and friends back when Catherine went by Cassandra... And Christoph was a Good Big Bro who took his new little brother fishing and stuff and loved him Very Much... Could I get... Christoph talking to Catherine/Cassandra about how his dad just adopted this little thief and his siblings and he wants to get the kid to trust him?

When they first entered the Officers Academy, the pair was quick at becoming friends. First it was sparing partners so they could “see who was stronger” then it was a fishing contest because “I bet I can catch a bigger fish than you!” then eating together since “I know I can eat more than you!” And, well, you see where this is going. Every moment was spent together, whether or not they were competing. The pair was inseparable, and they knew everything about each other.

“Cassandra, do you have any siblings?”

Almost everything.

“Siblings? No I can’t say that I’ve got any. But haven’t I already told you this?” Christophe did tend to be a bit scatterbrained at times, so she simply assumed he’d forgotten.

“Well, yes, but, you know things can change. One moment you’re an only child, the next you’re a bro-” he cut himself off and cleared his throat before continuing, “you’ve got some baby sibling.”

Cassandra wasn’t going to just straight up tell him he was wrong, but his statement was just so strange. Since when did he even care about siblings, he hasn’t got any either! Curiosity got the better of her, she just had to know.

“Christophe, have you got some secret sibling you’ve been hiding from me? Cause if you have, that’s one hell of a secret to keep, ha! How have you been managing that!” She tried to keep her question light in tone, but even then it didn’t seem to calm his nerves. At her question, he rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly, avoiding her gaze.

“I mean... I wouldn’t say ‘hid him’ per say. Or I guess ‘hid them’- but ah, that’s not the point. Um, well you see-” Christophe’s attempts at explaining the situation were messy at best. It seems like he barely understood the situation himself. But by the Goddess, what was Lord Lonato thinking? Taking in some boy, a theif at that, into his family! He had nearly robbed him, and he decides its a good idea to keep him?

“Christophe, that’s dangerous! What if they boy robs you blind, or even killed your father!”

“No, no! He’s just a kid, I can’t imagine he’s any older than 9 or 10 years old. And his brother and sister are even younger than him! They looked to be in pretty bad shape too... I would rather he stole all our possession if it meant father didn’t kick him back onto the streets.”

Christophe really is kind to a fault. One of these days it’s going to get him killed. But, she supposed she was just going to have to make sure it never got to that point.

“Why’re you worried about all this anyways? You sound like you’re more than happy with him there, what’s the problem?”

“There isn’t really a problem more so that he’s,” he took a moment, slightly chewing on his nail from the nerves, “it’s just that he doesn’t seem to trust me. Or father really, despite us taking him in. And, honestly, I don’t know what to do.” Damn, this kid really has the Gaspard family wrapped about his finger, didn’t he? He’s only been in their home for a few days, and Christophe is already worried about him!

Cassandra let out a little chuckle that seemed to only heighten Christophe’s worries, “Cassandra please! I’m being serious for once, I really want him to like me. This kid has had it so hard, and I want to help him, but how can I when he won’t even talk to me?”

“It’s simple. You’re over thinking this way too much. You said that this little boy, Ashe right? You said that Ashe liked that book he tried to steal from you right? Well, he’s gotta think something of Knights right?”

“Well, I suppose so. How does that help-”

“Gods, do I have to spell everything out for you? You’re a knight! Just tell him about knighthood and teach him some combat techniques. He doesn’t have to talk for you to do that anyways.”

“Cassandra he’s 9!”

“And?”

“AND I won’t do that! Training him, that just seems kinda extreme.” It seemed even having that conversation taken a few years off his life. It was almost like he didn’t like her advice! After taking a moment to gather his thoughts, he continued, “Maybe I could take him fishing. Like you said, he doesn’t have to talk to go fishing, and I can show him the ropes. Plus, it’s not dangerous.”

His gaze looked so soft when he spoke about that boy. She hadn’t seen him look like that in so long... perhaps he’ll be good for Christophe.

“Hey, Toph?”

“Yea?”

“... You should take me with you. I’d like to meet the boy who’s made you such a sap!”

“Heh, so I’m a sap now? If you can beat me in a sparring match, then we’ll see! But I’ll make sure Ashe becomes such a great fisherman, you won’t even be able to combat him!”

“I’d like to see him try. You’re on!”

Fire Emblem Three Houses thoughts 100+ hours through (half way through New Game+)

Let's get the character stuff out of the way first:

Favorite characters: Dorothea, Mercedes, Petra, Claude, Sylvain, Marianne, Bernadetta, Raphael, Flayn

Least favorite characters: Lorenz, Ashe, Caspar, Leonie, Hubert, Ingrid

Character I thought I would hate but ended up loving: Sylvain. Far and away Sylvain. I can't stand the whole "guy that hits on any woman with a pulse" archetype, but Sylvain (who I ended up recruiting on accident in my first Golden Deer run) ends up such being a very deep character. He grew on me so much that I nearly cried with joy when (spoilers) in the paired ending I got for him w/Mercedes it said he ended up passing his legacy on to an heir without a crest.

Characters I married: Dorothea in my Golden Deer run (no natural gay options in GD for male and female Byleth, boo). I'm planning to marry Mercedes in my Blue Lion run, the scene she has with F!Byleth in the Goddess Tower is so adorable. Depending how much I like Edelgard I'll either marry her in my Black Eagle run, if not Dorothea again (because Manuela isn't a gay option, boooooo)

I also love Shamir and Cathrine as a tandem, they absolutely are married, I will fight you. Shamir is also super underrated in general.

Unexpectedly good supports: Shamir and Dedue is hilarious. Ignatz and Marianne was incredibly sweet. Petra and Dorothea was very gay. Mercedes and Slyvain hinted at some possible mlm/wlw solidarity with their relationship. Sylvain and Dorothea is explosive and excellent. Any support where Marianne or Bernie talk about their history with abuse and trauma and how it's affected them hits really close to home and meant a lot to me.

I will say the Hard mode is in fact more hard than Normal. Some of that comes from not being able to level/skill grind so you have to pick a group and their class-path early and commit with little wiggle room for adjustments or additions. I've actually straight up lost some maps because I still had a normal-mode mindset (Oil and Water comes to mind). I won't say the difficultly is up with the old school pre-3DS games, maybe with those new modes will help.

Overall this is an excellent game, and totally deserves a place in the top entries in the series. It has sort of echoes of a bunch of previous FE games (got lots of PoR vibes but mixed in with Geneology and Awakening) while adding in new mechanics and a great jobs system - even if it could use some rebalancing (no flying magic users, so few non-mounted Master classes, Job Points gained at slower rate than Skill points which is slower than EXP to the point of skipping some classes to the next, ect)

This is already my second most played Switch game, still about a 100 hours behind BoTW but it did just pass Wargroove and Dragon Quest Builder for me. I know I'll be playing and replaying this game for a long time.

Not to hijack from ships but (mostly) two-person Maddening run (no NG+ either) survivor here to put in my 2 cents using my fe-sideblog, lol. Though mine was Verdant Wind, Claude and Byleth. Full disclosure I say mostly because I ended up using 4 additional units outside of those two for a few choice annoying maps: Lysithea and Marianne for healing in a few early game chapters (plus Lysithia for one or two key Dark Spikes in ch 14), and Cathrine and Shamir specifically for that one Death Knight chapter you can’t use your lord in. Chapter 14 is the last map I used units other than my main two.

The first few chapters are a bit tedious but not too bad. Mid-early game gets you a groove, chapter 9 sucks, and 13/14 are murder. After that everything gets infinitely easier. I have more thorough posts on this particular blog about it if you feel like reading it, just make sure to scroll past the Cindered Shadows (that’s the DLC) post. Not that I think there’s really any actual spoilers in it probably don’t wanna take that chance.

So, in terms of shippy-nes, how would you rate Dimitri's supports? From "muh OTP" to "naw, they just friends"? Elaborate as much as you want. ^^

Oh, man. I just know this is going to get VERY long. I'll just set the "keep reading" line now because I know I'm about to write way too much.

Please keep note, though, that this is purely based on how shippable I think they are based on supports, and not at all how good I think the support is (i.e. Gilbert and Dimitri ranking bottom tier despite having one of the best supports in the franchise in my opinion).

Literally married to someone else: Alois and Gilbert.

Not a lot of explanation needed here. Gilbert is old enough to be Dimitri's father, married, and is way to much of a mentor figure even if that was your kink. Alois is very, very happily married by the time he meets a teenage Dimitri and is still so throughout the entire game. It is funny, though, how these two are at opposite ends of Dimitri's fluff to serious in supports.

0 Romance: Raphael

I don't have to elaborate on this, do I? It's mostly a joke support that ends at B with someone Dimitri has no chemistry with.

Catherine: Catherine

Dimitri seems to have a cannon interest in getting railed by people who may actually be capable of it, but Catherine is way too much of a lesbian to me. There's just 0 chemistry here.

Like a sister: Annette

As shipable as Dimitri is, I just can't see him and Annette as anything but siblings. Nothing wrong with that, but not super shippable.

She just looks too young: Flayn

This support is actually ripe with shippableness. Both sides end up getting comforted by words from the other and share deep fears and secrets with each other. Flayn also seems pretty openly interested. But she looks like a child, and Dimitri's fairly big and tall. I hate ranking something so low based on aesthetics, but here we are.

Shame it ended at B: Ashe

The conversation ends on a pretty final note, establishing where they stand with each other. Despite Dimitri's wishes to be closer friends, Ashe sees Dimitri too much as a leader. There's a hint, there, with Dimitri giving Ashe a glimpse into his nonexistent self-esteem that could lead to something more, but, sadly, their support ended at B.

Even more of a shame it ended at B: Sylvain

Sylvain ranks higher than Ashe for two reasons: childhood friend angst and because their relationship seems less fraught. However, if you're looking for childhood angst, Felix, and even Ingrid, trumps Sylvain big time here. The less complicated bit gets a bit rocky in part 2 where we never really see Dimitri and Sylvain really talk. Again, another one cursed by ending at B.

Getting warm now: Ingrid

I like Ingrid and Dimitri's paired ending a lot, especially for Ingrid. I also love the childhood friends to lovers trope, and I think they'd fit each other well enough and have beautiful blond babies. I also just think they both have better options.

Lots going for it: Mercedes

Now we're getting into the territory where I actually ship it. Probably one of Dimitri's most underrated ships, tbh. I think they'd be very good for each other. Dimitri demands a lot of emotional attention, and Mercedes want to dote on someone. She gets all the awards for treating him like a friend in part 1, but that doesn't stop them from having serious discussions in part 2. All that's holding this back is wondering if she's almost too motherly at times? Either way, deserves to be more popular.

Held back by characterization: Byleth

This is an incredibly romantic ship. Part of AM seem built around betting the player will romance Dimitri. The hand holding stuff is adorable, and seeing them play out standard tropes but flipping the genders is pretty interesting. It's held back a bit by Byleth not being as compelling as other characters. Dimitri also seems a bit too dependent on Byleth too. To it's credit, though, it feels natural and it's a good breather that it leaves enough room for Byleth to play mentor rather than shoving it so hard it feels forced.

It's complicated: Felix

Holy hell this is a TOXIC relationship. But I'm weak, y'all. If you want angst, nothing, absolutely nothing tops these two morons. They're 100% that pairing I absolutely die for in fiction and can't get enough of in fanfiction, but good God in real life, no fucking way. Anyways, there is just so much to unpack here that I feel their relationship deserves its own write up. The fact Felix is the only character in the game who gets majorly different endings when he leaves his house and only ever is happy when Dimitri survives is just the tip of the iceberg. Even their paired ending is full of unresolved yearning. HOW. Only held back because I really would've liked an A+ support.

Super sweet: Marianne

They only have three support conversations and a paired ending, but not a moment of that is wasted. Some highlights include Dimitri NOT telling Marianne to just smile or be happy, Dimitri LISTENING when Marianne tells him to stay away, rescue romance (between C and B), mutual relief when they discover someone who feels the same way they do rather than just trying to change them to fit someone else's idea of normal, mutual healing together without being dependent on each other, seeing two sad characters who deserve the world get such a happy paired ending together. Did I mention that paired ending? I almost cried. They both deserve all the happiness and that the writers let them get it by pairing them together. Yes. Only held back because they literally only get three conversations and end ending, please fix this Three Hopes.

I literally cannot: Dedue

Everyone knew this would be number one. Someone once told me on here they thought Dedue got wrote out of part 2 so much because the writers saw what they created and went "oh, shit, how is he supposed to get Byleth?" Their co-dependency, difference in stations, complications given what Faerghus did to Duscur, and Dedue's refusal to be Dimitri's friend (in part 1), gives it some good angst, but there's sweetness to balance it that Felix/Dimitri doesn't have. Their A-support is mutual gushing, they're both just two big (terrifying) teddy bears, and Dimitri's reaction when Dedue returns in part 2 makes me cry. But, it's got that bit of spice I mentioned earlier to keep it from venturing into the too sweet area like Marianne and Dimitri could dip into. The backstory between them is so interesting, even outside of AM, these two don't separate. They get "moments" in every. single. fucking. route. Dedue broke Dimitri out of prison and just . . . there's just so much here. They also suit each other so well. Dedue even said he knew the real Dimitri all along and STILL LOVED HIM ANYWAYS. How can you not ship this? How often do you find the bodyguard with a crush/loyal knight when the guarded person is equally infatuated from the get go? So often these kinds of things seem lopsided, but not here, no way. Dimitri returns every inch of Dedue's loyalty in full. And I cannot just cannot with them. That the screenshots from Three Hopes confirms that's Dedue's hand on Dimitri's? Dead. I'm actually dead. Not seriously. But yes.

I saw NCTheater put on Newsies

And here’s some things that I noticed in Act 1

(I was going to do the whole show but this is too long, it’s late, and I am very tired. I might do Act 2 tomorrow in another post)

I’m trying to leave out things I’ve seen floating around in  posts before, like Davey’s costume character arc and Kath slapping Jack

Some other things that happened were mentioned in this lovely post from @poorguysheadisdoingwhatnow​

• They had two towers instead of three and the penthouse half tower

• For Santa Fe Prologue, you could see the other newsies sleeping in the towers and on the bottom of the penthouse

• Steve Raymond was more of the 92sies Crutchie than AKB and I am very okay with that becuase he KILLED IT

• Crutchie tries to refuse the picture, but Jack was havin NONE OF IT

• I don’t know how, but his chemistry with Jason Gotay (Jack) was just PHENOMINAL. To me, Jeremy Jordan and AKB were great at showing how Jack and Crutchie were great friends, but Jason and Steve really made me believe they were truly brothers

• Jack has a drawing of a horse that he pulls out on “We’ll hop a palimino!” and he gives it to Crutchie right before the morning bell

• Henry came out with a washtub and was washing up on stage left and Specs was in the tower towards stage right and had to point and yell “hey look it’s bath time at the zoo”

• Also Specs had something like a Russian/German accent. Finch and Jojo (I think?) had Irish accents. And Romeo was Italian as FUUUU

• Romeo did a full on, leggy out, waving hat, drop to the floor bow when Cathrine and Darcy came by

• Crutchie played up his “weather forecast” so much. He shook his leg so damn hard for “no rain, partly cloudy” and then just dropped it for “clear by evenin’”

• Irish Finch was a blessing to us all

• Crutchie grabbed his pantleg on his hurt leg and pulled his leg around in some circles for “it take a smile that spreads like butte’...” and it was so overly “flirty” and great

• Instead of a chalkboard, the headlines were put on these big boards that were hung up and taken down.

• Apparently Race’s line is “Five-to-one Jack skunks him” instead of “stomps”??? Or they just changed it for whatever reason???

• Crutchie was ready to FIGHT Morris before he got shoved back

• Before Jack runs away from the Delancey’s, he throws the crutch back towards Crutchie so the poor boy can actually walk

• Idk why but Wiesel just seemed kinda hungover? Not like the actor was hungover, but like Wiesel the character went too hard on the booze last night and now he’s gotta deal with these little shits

• Davey and Les got in line behind Race, but Davey got distracted and leaned down to talk to Les and Crutchie just cut in front of them with this look of “this is MY spot bitches”

• Eddie Olmo’s Race was the love child of Max Casella’s Race and Tommy Bracco’s Spot Conlon

• Crutchie never paid for his papers. They made a big show jack, race, and the others putting their money down, but Crutchie didn’t even try to pretend

• LES WAS A SARCASTIC LITTLE SHIT AND IT WAS GREAT

• Pulitzer spent the first 3 minutes on stage sitting in his chair with his back to the audience and just looked and sounded like such a villain and it was great

• Snyder initially comes in on stage left and spends the entire scene just slowly stalking over to stage right, until he’s literally standing right behind Jack when Les asks “Is that the fella’ your meetin’?”

• Yolanda Rabun is a queen an inspiration and if I could have a fraction of her ability I would forever be blessed

• She is also a head shorter than Jason (Jack) and it just made their pseudo mother/son relationship even more adorable

• When Medda said “...but I do” a group of stage hands and the Bowery Beauties started giggling like crazy

• Instead of drawing on a newspaper, Jack takes a sign advertising Medda’s show and draws Kath on the back of it

• After Crutchie nominates Jack as president, every newsie raises their hand and says “aye” all at once and it was great

• Jack, Crutchie, and Race walk into the World together, and Les runs in after them.  Davey tried to run after Les but gets the door slammed in his face

• Davey caught Race when they were thrown out, and Les helped Jack get up after telling at the security guard

• “But that Spot Conlon gets me a weEE bit jittery”

• When Kath comes into Jacobi’s, she uses this sorta fast-talking reporter voice when asking her questions and it just kinda overwhelms everyone.  She directed her questions at specific newsies and they kinda tried to move away from her if she got too close

• When Romeo said the “Your out of your league” bit, KAth and Jack were having a stare down and when Kath responded, she didn’t break eye contact and just sorta leaned back towards Romeo to say her line

• Romeo was absolutely SHOOK when he asked Finch (Or Jojo or Elmer honestly they were really similar looking) “how does she know my name???”

• During the scene change after Jacobi’s, the newsies are all kinda running around and Kath tries to interview them as they pass by

•  There’s a newsie that tries to run away (elmer?) but the others stop him, until Davey and Jack sing the line “your still our brothers/and we will fight for you” After that, he just books it off stage

• Runner newsie comes back as a scab and is the last one to throw down his papers (”What the hell. My father’s gonna kill me anyway”)

• Oscar was so short that when the Delancey’s came out to fight, I kept losing track of him because he blended in with the newsies

• After the police officer punched Romeo, he basically threw him by the back of his shirt off stage into the wings

• Jack seemed like he was trying to get Crutchie out of the fight after the cops came, but got intercepted by Synder and just ran away, trying to make sure Crutchie was with him, but as he said later, “dumb kid’s just too damn slow”

In all seriousness, there is no reason Edlegard is romancable for Fe!Byleth, but neither of the other two house leaders, Claude and Dimitri, are romancable for M!Byleth, especially considering how flirty Claude is and Dimitri's... intimate relationship with Dedue.

Leonie absolutely should have been bi, no question, especially because there is no gay female option in Golden Deer unless you recruit outside your house (which I did so I could romance Dorothea).

Also, Shamir and Cathrine are married and you can't convince me otherwise. Manuela should have been bi, too, I was surprised she wasn't an option.
