The Bats Are Fighting (Distaff Edition)

some conflicts I enjoy:

Babs is pretty hostile/judgy toward Helena at first & is bitterly upset and hurt when Helena starts wearing a Bat costume - apparently a Batgirl costume - without asking her. Later on, Bruce chases Helena out of the costume, and Babs gives Cass the Batgirl costume with her explicit blessing. Helena and Cass never have a rivalry over this exactly, but I don't think they ever really get along, either

Babs and Helena eventually make up when Babs lets Helena join the Birds of Prey but it's rocky in the beginning - Babs dislikes Helena's methods and doesn't entirely trust her; Helena resents being kept on the outside

Steph is super-impressed by Cass and tries to get her to like her and they eventually get close, but Cass has a pretty low opinion of Steph-as-a-vigilante and doesn't hesitate to boss her around or knock her out, and she's super-hurt by Steph lying to her about what's going on during War Games (probably not unrelated: Cass is the only Bat to blame Steph instead of Bruce after Steph dies)

Babs and Cass get very close but also have tensions because Babs wants Cass to have the 'normal' life that Babs thinks she should've tried harder to have when she was younger, and Cass isn't entirely comfortable with this pressure, plus - this one I think is a bit more well-known - Babs spends a lot of time tutoring Cass and looking after her (awww), BUT ALSO in a tense moment she gets really nasty and harsh about Cass's reluctance to learn to read and calls her "stupid"

Dinah finds Steph REALLY annoying and wants her to stop tagging around after her... until she finds out about Steph's miserable home life, and then she appears like an avenging angel and kicks Steph's dad and his cronies out of the house

Babs decides to work with a guy who tortured Dinah because she thinks he's capable of redemption and Dinah is NOT HAPPY about it

Just generally, Steph and Helena are very much outsiders who don't get brought into the "core" Batfam and who aren't trusted with info like Bruce's secret identity. By contrast, Babs is an insider almost from Day 1 - she may have conflicts with Bruce, but she's also got his absolute trust - and Dinah is as insider as it gets, with a mom who was also Black Canary and a stint on the JLA

other general characterization notes that cause Conflict (TM):

Babs is pretty much a classic Bat - she's got a ton of control issues and she's an instinctively secretive workaholic

Helena is an adult who will kill people if she damn well feels it's necessary and she doesn't appreciate being lectured about it

Steph is a defensive teenage outsider with a bucketload of family problems - deadbeat evil dad! addict mom! - and when she's upset she's got a reckless self-destructive streak

Cass is very much like Bruce in that 1) she is wildly super mega good at fighting, 2) she's an instinctive loner who's comically bad at people AND YET she can nevertheless effortlessly manage to head off to a foreign country for a weekend and have a passionately-felt mutual love affair with some random criminal or something, and then that person dies & she goes home like nothing happened, 3) she cares about other people but completely sucks at communication & when in doubt will just go silent & take off or refuse to have conversations, 4) because she hates talking sometimes she'll just knock you out or hit you so that she won't have to do it, 5) she will spend an entire year planning to have a fight to the death with someone for Reasons and tell no one about it because why would she tell someone

anyway they're all terrible <3

Jianyu in any setting where there's someone who is problematic and a headache is him just going, "just kill them." That lady in the M.ist movie? Dead. He killed her day 2 and took over the store because no one could be trusted to look after themselves. An enemy making your life miserable? Kill them. Joker in D.C comics getting out of A.rkham over and over again and killing like 44324323 people each year? Kill him. Problem solved. Zombie apocolypse setting where the head of the group is questionable? Killed. Jianyu's boss now.

To no one's surprise probably kfjdshfss I am going to move Nanami over to my multi @guhamun. I just don't really feel as enthused about coming over here like I used to and every time I look at the browser I'm signed into I'm just, "guuuughhhh -zombie sounds-". Love Nanami, but haven't particularly felt the desire to linger and split my attention. I've had this blog for like 3 years so it's been a good run! Just had an insane few days and finally catching up with stuff!!! Plus I wanted to use this to have a little gender talk in regards to Tavi and my personal headcanons with viera from Golmore with this!!

I do use any pronouns in regards to Tavi because she's essentially genderless by default (insert "I'm probably nb but I'm wol so don't have time for that" meme.) So she doesn't care what pronouns you use, and she often gets pronouns for other's mixed up herself as in my personal lore Golmorran Viera don't even really use pronouns like we do as they don't even conceptualize gender nor the binary as the rest of the world does! I think she left that jungle and got assigned "her" due to her femme presenting nature and said "okay ¯\_(ツ)_/¯" bc what the fuck does it matter to her lol

And on the topic of pronouns with Golmore Viera I do believe they'd have a non binary pronoun that would be used for most due to the fact that they'd have no idea what sex they are until puberty. This is also why I believe their names aren't gendered either!!

But thank you so much!! If Tavi being a "him" makes you happy hell yeah! Tavs is such a little freak that brings me so much joy so if she does for anyone else too I'm 🥺🥺🥺

Honestly, though, I have a tendency to get into writing or doing other things and forget anyone talked to me sometimes either way so--- 😭

Experience in RP — I've been rping since I was a kid back in forever ago before I even really knew what rping was. It all started on a chat site and I wasn't sure what was going on but I liked it LMFAO. I think it was probably about middle school-ish time for me. 6th grade I guess??? So a while.

Best experiences — AAAAA many! I think some of my best experiences rping was when I was doing things with my friends on Twitter and Deviantart. They always inspired me to draw and we were constantly designing characters / joining art rp groups back then which helped me improve drastically. Ughugh I miss doing things like that sometimes.

Pet peeves / dealbreakers — Godmodding. The quickest way to make me drop a thread is making Ozy do something or saying he did something without consulting with me. That's a pretty big dealbreaker for me as I've been put in really uncomfortable situations as a result of people doing this. Also instantly coming at me with ship ideas is a bit of a put off if we like...have literally done one thing / I barely even know you. I had that happen day one of me making Ozy and it almost made me want to leave before I even did anything. Only time I will shake you around and be like, "yeah let's gooooo!" is if we've known one another a long time / I'm comfortable enough to do that.

Muse preference ( fluff, angst, smut ) — That depends. I love writing things where it's deeply discussion based over beliefs, philosophies, and the like. Emotionally charged threads too since that gets my muse really going, but it doesn't need to quite be angst so IDK AAAAAA. Fluff is okay sometimes, although Ozy isn't exactly 'fluffy' most of the time and it's a 50/50 with him and his fickle moods. Smut is nice to write every now and then too because there can be a lot of characterization in intimate moments like this. I don't think I have any kind of definite preference when I think about it -rubs chin-

Plot or memes — Memes usually (or just throwing unprompted stuff in my inbox)! My attention span is absolutely terrible. I like plotting but I have a tendency to slowly lose interest if it goes on for a while as I like getting the barebones as to what we're going to do, have some discussion, then jumping straight into making a thread. Discussing things as we go along and have things already started is just more fascinating for me.

Long or short replies — I loooove long replies, but those tend to be done at a slower pace unless the muse is really gripping me by the throat. I remember the days when I wasn't working and I could get through like ten threads a day or something but thinking about that now has me like, "how did I even do this?" So a nice mixture of short and long is nice! That way I can pick and choose what I feel like replying to that day.

Best time to write — In the weeee hours of the night mainly -- and with music! ////

Are you like your muse — Not even remotely amg. Ozy's too much of everything. He's loud, he's arrogant, and his confidence levels are off the charts on a good day whereas I prefer to be left to my devices, avoiding conversation or faking it till I make it with people, and then dying when I get home because boy was that too much extroverted activity for me FKJSDFHKSDFDS

     once she was done with the annoying work emails, taking big bites of the sandwich in between, kaori realized she had a ton of content that needed to be edited for her youtube channel. breathing out a big sigh, the only thing that was keeping her going was the fact that her view was perfect. glancing at the cafe owner every now and then, but trying to be subtle about it all. after all, she still had those confusing type of thoughts swirling around in her mind. shaking off the thoughts so she can concentrate on her work, most of the morning consisted of editing, petting puppies, and glancing every now and then at naeun. it was like the hours just zoomed by, hearing her stomach grumbling was the only thing that pulled her out her trance. kaori's eyes look over at naeun who is still behind the counter. and so, she takes it upon herself and slides out of the booth, walking up to her with a rather shy smile. " um, i'm kind of hungry. are you hungry ? should we go grab something to eat ? " she asks, leaning against the counter with both hands. " that's only if, you're good to go, of course. "

thankfully, they were able to sneak away from her job. now sitting across the other female at the table of the sushi place. studying the menu, she had a hard time deciding with the multitude of choices that they had on display. " so, naeun ssi, what kind of sushi do you like ? are you more of a salmon or a tuna person ? " she knew it was only the start of her long list of questions that she wanted to ask, smiling up at her.

She could leave immediately but what's the point of going to a sushi restaurant when Kaori is enjoying her breakfast? "Just tell me when you're hungry, okay? We can leave then. Or when you need a break from your work." It's perfect, though. To have her there, doing her own thing, while she can also focus on her own work, and make sure the other customers are satisfied with their food and drinks as well.

Naeun watches the female interact with one of the staff members' puppies, causing the smile on her lips to get wider. She can only imagine how the other might interact with her dog... Stop! What is she thinking? Inhaling deeply, giving one glance at the female, Naeun tries to focus on her own work, but multiple thoughts in her head keep distracting her: Why is she thinking such things of Kaori? Why is she so distracting? Sure, she thinks women are attractive and she playfully flirts around with her friends, but the makeup artist? She seems to be on her mind on a different level and she doesn't know how to exactly feel about it. It's confusing her, that's for sure.
