FD3S Forever
The FD3S from Mazda is basically the best chassis they have produced for those not old enough to remember the early to mid 1990's held a Japanese car maker sports car war let's just stick to the two door's. TOYOTA Supra RZ (great Turbo engine for 1990's) NISSAN Skyline GTR (great Turbo engine for 1990's) HONDA NSX (Good N/A engine for 1990's) MITSUBISHI 3000 GTO (crazy complicated no more to say) MAZDA RX7 (high temps, unreliable debut twin scroll turbo Rotary)
The FD3S has - Good Brakes - Good Suspension Geometry - Good Aero/Drag - Good Steering - Front Mid Ship Packaging - Reasonable Interior and Dashboard - Light Weight Once you free it from it's turbo rotary shackles you will still have many years of stress free motoring in it. We think the K20 Turbo is the best fit for this car. A Supercharged K24 would also perform very well.

Turbo Rotary Engines this is my summary.
The 2002 Spirit R which was one of my old cars, had a claimed 206 fwkw and bone stock made about 165 rwkw before the tiny intercooler becomes overwhelmed heat soak kicks in and you would be lucky to make 150 rwkw. You can of course tune them and then tune them again after the motor pops. In 2014 with the youngest of these engines being 12 years old and the oldest being 24 they are getting tougher to defend as a good option.
To be fair to the Rotary engine it's a lot better when not twin sequential turbocharged but as a Naturally aspirated engine it's an even crueller joke so lets not go there.

It's not really a Mazda or a Car to be honest, but it will look like an FD3S if you squint and it will shame a V8 Supercar when it's running.
Nick win's the crazy keen and committed prize read all about it here.

this is a Serious think closer to $300,000 than $200,000 build they had their choice of almost any engine and the K of course is the winner.
