Fic: when one door closes (another opens)

Borin in 2165, Brianna Thawne grew up always feeling under pressure from the family legacy. Although her parents and most of her immediate family weren't the ones to do so, it was difficult to really aspire to anything when there were so many high achievers in the bloodline - scientists, politicians, lawyers, inventors, heroes, and as such by the age of seventeen she felt like she was drifting with no real purpose in the world, travelling to various countries and unsure of her future.

So, when she got the opportunity to learn how to wield the Blue Flame, she jumped at the chance - magic was seen as a relic of the past but she'd always known better, and she excelled at her lessons, deciding to bring back a name from the past; Cobalt Blue, supposedly a mantle several of her ancestors had taken on. She joined a group of magic users and stayed with them for four years, battling various monsters and even befriending a Nephilim from another universe - Ruth Fremont of Earth-666- after defeating a Prince of Hell and saving Los Angeles from fiery destruction.

Her world changed again, though, when one such battle opened up a rift in the sky and she was struck by lightning - waking up four months later with super-speed. Feeling duty-bound to help Central and Keystone, she became part of her era's Team Flash and for another few years this was the main focus of her life and one she'd thought she'd be part of for some time to come...yet she was never quite comfortable in the role, not helped by the fact that some of the team insisted on either trying to explain away or ignore her Blue Flame powers. When she encountered the Legends for the first time, Sara Lance picked up on this, and though didn't call her out in this directly did offer her a place on her team, should she ever want it. Brianna, at the time, didn't...

But a month later, disaster struck when Team Flash failed to stop a metahuman's attack in time and thirty people were killed. Brianna was devastated and vowed that she would do better to stop this from happening again...but Kate Allen was determined that it should never have happened in the first place, and attempted to travel back in time to prevent it - something Brianna was prepared to overlook, except when she talked to Gideon she found out that such a major change would end up in even more deaths. When Kate Allen went ahead with the plan anyway, Brianna fought her and managed to drag her back to their present time by using the Blue Flame to temporarily drain her powers. This caused a tremendous row among Team Flash and Brianna eventually had to threaten to bring in all three time authorities to throw the book at them.

This got them to back down, but it split the Team down the middle and Brianna was effectively exiled, despite her attempts to fix things. After two months she could no longer bear it and took Sara up on her offer - it helps, of course, that they have a magic-user already on the ship in John Constantine, someone she already gets along with, and that the Legends themselves have plenty of experience themselves with making the hard choices.

All she hopes is that it's third time lucky in terms of being part of a team...

Tesarya — Tes — is a naboo-born force sensitive merchant and loner by choice. she has many acquaintances and hardly any friends. she grew up on coruscant and is quite scrappy, good at card tricks and tricking people in general. she comes across as deadpan and dispassionate but deep down she cares about things. just... very deep down. like, you might want to get out your shovel.

she trained with the jedi at a certain point but left of her own volition due to a disagreement with her master, master Indara. she's eventually going to be a ship for The Stranger (Qimir).

OC International Womens Day Challenge Day Two - Girls Love Each Other Like Animals

“We don’t guard ourselves like we do with boys”. Today is all about female relationships! Which women held your OC together in times of need? Who loved her when she needed it most? Was it, her mother, friends, partners? Or even a girl she met in the bathroom who fixed her makeup and told her not to get back with their ex.

It was the unlikeliest of friendships - a twenty-one-year-old newly minted speedster and a three-thousand-year-old Nephilim on a whole other Earth who also happened to be the niece of Lucifer Morningstar. But when Brianna Thawne's first major attempt at seeing just how far she could push her powers ended up landing her on Earth-666, not just on a different Earth but a different time, she ends up befriending Ruth Fremont, who is no stranger to interdimensional travellers (though the time travel, she admits, isn't something she's used to).

And this turned out to be a good thing, as a threat made itself known - Dagon, a Prince of Hell with ambitions for the throne who planned to destroy Los Angeles as the first major step. The two women team-up to bring him down and the crisis eventually ends when Brianna challenges him to single combat and beheads him, earning the fear of the lower demons, a favour from Lucifer (as of yet still not cashed in) - and eternal friendship from Ruth. They've kept in contact since, often visiting each others' worlds when they can, and they are as close as sisters, always prepared to help one another if needed and with a strong love for one another. Ruth, in particular, is protective of Brianna, and is prepared to defend her if she is let down by a third team (the Legends).

She's blind and has the ability to see and manipulate sound waves which allows her to see anything that soundwaves bounce off.

She can also make soundwaves stronger or weaker (louder or quieter basically) to fight and cause damage around her or mute people who annoy her.

haunted. maeve knew before she even reached for the old wooden door. her senses had called her there, tugged at her subconscious until her body responded without her knowledge, her feet leading her right where she now stood. the small house looked like a forgotten relic from another era, its windows-like eyes peering out from underneath the overgrown ivy, their panes twisted and broken from the passage of years. its roof bowed to a precarious angle, like weighted down by moss and memories. the old building sat in the cold, damp center of the forest, where shadows danced a silent waltz under the sliver of moonlight filtering through the trees, the whispers of the night breeze - and maybe the souls - echoing in the vastness of the forest. it was creepy. creepy and strangely beautiful. despite its dilapidated facade, there was an undeniable allure to the old house. it seemed to hold secrets and stories that had yet to be told between its crumbling walls, whispered tales of restless spirits lingering where they didn't belong anymore. the people in town had stories about this place, urban legends really, about it being haunted, about some evil witch living there decades prior, about tragic backstories of betrayal, murder and rituals. all fabricated bullshit for thrill-seekers and scared children. well.. except the first part. it was definitely haunted. as she finally grabbed the rusted doorknob, the air grew thick, a palpable tension that prickled at her skin, an all too familiar shiver running down her spine. she could walk away now, not put herself in danger again, not poke around where spirits clearly lingered, but she knew her subconscious would only drag her back until she had discovered what story needed to be told here. shit. finally maeve pushed the door open but just as she was about to pass the threshold, she snapped her head to look over her shoulder. a rustle of leaves, the sound - barely noticeable, trying to be discreet - of footsteps. not ghosts, not this time. ❝ who's there? ❞
