I'm going to do something today I've never done on this blog before, but have been wanting to: share a line from a WIP other than my current one (My YA romantic thriller The Adored is technically current, too, I guess, it's just that it's much older and seemingly stuck permanently in editing. I'll get around to doing a WIP intro to it one of these days).

And to make it more fun for all of us, I chose a whumpy one (despite the fact that I wrote this long before I was fully aware whump was a thing!)

“Look.” He slammed his back against the wall beside me. Reached into his pocket for a cigarette. “You think it would make any difference if Deborah Reinholt knew my mom was a junkie? That she worked as a Wal-Mart cashier when she wasn’t getting high? Or that Alistair fished me out of prison? You know the truth and I know the truth, so why does it matter what anyone else thinks?” he asked. “It’s a game, Isley. Play them, or they’ll play you. And in my life, I’ve been played enough.”

He bent his head to light the Lucky, his long, ivory hands shaking a bit on the lighter. Below his sleeve was a narrow, scabbed-over gash where Fitch had ratcheted the cuffs as tight as they would go.

 And I knew there were more. Gashes. Cuts. Scars. Other people didn’t, but I did. And for as long as I knew him, that would be my blessing and my curse.

❤️ What is your favorite line that you’ve written in a fic?

Oof. That's hard. Not because I've written amazing one liners or anything but because I have a shitty memory. I just checked, and I've written 1.9 million words on Ao3 alone, not counting any other platform. I am sure if I could remember, there would be several to choose from as a favorite lol. But since I can't remember, I will just pick something that I wrote yesterday. It's part of the next chapter of The Dementors' Child that is unreleased. 👀
