although i dont care much for gg ships i am of the opinion that faustemkin COULD work if it was just given the chance… both potemkin and faust use their skills to help others who are in need (and both of them are often grouped together in official and fan made works, but thats a discussion for another day).

although i think potemkin would disapprove of faust’s crimes, he would be able to see faust’s genuine efforts to rectify his sins and support faust’s growth. its clear that faust in strive is so self sacrificial it’s literally killing him. he’s very different from his first iteration and i think the rest of the gg cast can tell. what faust needs is someone to look out for him, and potemkin seems like a good candidate! under his exterior, potemkin is very kind and patient, and he would admire faust’s incredible medical talents. he would treat faust with the love and care that he deserves while faust recovers from the strive main story incident. maybe faust sees sacrificing his health as necessary and something he deserves, but potemkin talks him out of it by telling faust he can’t help anyone else if he dies in the process. also theyre both so silly… i just want them to be happy man… i hope that made sense. my final message goodbye… 🫡

(also ik faust’s moveset is mostly “random bullshit go!” but why does he have a doll of potemkin on his person in ggxx? do you have something you want to share with the class, faust?)

I feel like I'm in the minority of Faust fans that doesn't really ship him with any of the canon characters.

I've seen people create cool fanart/fanfics of the semi-popular ships with him (i.e. Faustemkin, Fauslayer, Fauszappa, etc.) or come up with the crackships for him, like I've seen some shipping him with Crow, Raven and Happy Chaos.

But honestly, I'm like meh on them. Aside from like one which is Faust and Elphelt, I'm like Shania Twain where I'm like, it doesn't impress me much. No hate to the shippers, I respect you guys, I just don't feel the vibe.

I'm just more into the oc x canon side when it comes to him.

honestly the structure of the guilty gear fandom as a fighting game that only brings back characters that are popular and liked means that there isnt much character bashing unless the character is already popular and people are sick of seeimg them everywhere (bridget, elphelt, aba,etc) otherwise it’s mostly just…character ignoring bc of how obscure they are (izuna, answer, judgement, etc)

closest thing I can say is like,,, the conclave? nobody likes the conclave and neither do i. however. i do think they have narrative potential. they just need to stop being annoying in the xrd arcade mode segments im so sick of hearing the same lines over and over when i am trying to scrape lore tidbits
