this looks like a lot of information but hopefully it's not TOO much- modern satyr/human fashion standards :)
basically post-cataclysm satyrs and humans live mostly side-by-side, even more so than other humanoids, and as such their fashion metrics have meshed together into a near-inseperable single unit. I used a human model because fuck them creature legs, but all of this goes for satyrs as well.
- wrapped tops have satyr origins, it's easier on the layer of fur they have around the neck and shoulders
- likewise buttons and ties/laces are of human origin
- both now use both
- satyrs have since adopted a pretty widespread idea that you should cover your bottom half in public, even though theyve got the creature legs and so it's less a deal. its generally looked down upon, though, unless in familiar company
- if wearing a two-layer outfit, the underlayer is wrapped opposite the outerlayer. so if your underclothes fold right, your outerclothes fold left. to fold them the same way is slut behavior.
- there are slight differences in men's and women's clothes: men tie at the waist, women at just below the chest. men's hems are below the knee, women's are at it (with some margin). men's coats hang at the hip and have shorter sleeves (half to 3/4 length), women's hang mid-thigh and are full-length.
- layered skirts are women's clothes, the number of layers varies with formality and with age (more layers = more respectable) (older also usually equals more respectable)
- accessory cloth is a holdover from pre-cataclysm satyrs in which a family crest or city-state emblem is worn to dictate fealty and display homeland. some may still use it as smaller-scale loyalty or to advertise their trade, to others it is purely decorative.
- wide sleeves are traditionally human, and have since been both adopted by satyrs and modified into false sleeves or more satyr-like, thinner sleeves.
- leather belts and corset-ish structures are more common in southern reaches, but fabric ties and sashes are also around
#original#worldbuilding#uhhhhhhhh idk. its fake history its false fashion standards. humans and satyrs wear clothes#ipotanes do too but theyre more distinct from these two and so i need to do them on their own#fauns and nightlings (and merfolk) are NAKED#alas
