Section 5: Tips for Raising Sexually Liberated Kid - Zahra Ala
This writing was a slightly different outlook from ‘Raising Sexually Liberated Kids’, which may have had more to do with the story revolving around somebody else’s children, and their advice used with those children. Although I don’t plan on having children myself, I plan on working with them as a Social Worker in the Child Welfare division. Many of these children are not taught boundaries or consent and may not even understand what happened to them was wrong, leading to increased cases of CSA where abuse or neglect is present. Though I want to educate these children about what is wrong for others to do, and how to treat themselves, I do not want to sound like a sexual predator or some sick-minded adult attempting to corrupt children, so hearing realistic and appropriate methods of sexual education was incredibly important. I’m going to take several of these tips into my private and professional lives:
Age appropriate and ongoing conversations about sex
Checking in with children about consent, and if anybody has touched them or acted inappropriately.
Celebrate their mind, body, and spirit
Being open and honest

A rare donation request.
Hey everyone! Many of you know that I’ve had a donation button on my tumblr for a long time. I am about to take competency exams for my PhD and could really benefit from help to feed myself / self care during them.
If you don’t know what competency exams are, for mine I will be taking them for 2 weeks with a week off in between each week. Each week I will get 2 broad questions about sociological theory / my specific research area and need to answer each question with a 16 - 20 double spaced page response. I’ve spent the last 6 months reading 80 articles (about 20 of those were books) for one reading list and then reading 45 other articles for the second week that is designed to turn into my dissertation topic.
In between each week I am going to an academic conference, driving there + staying at the cheapest places possible to afford it. Though, I’ve paid for most of it months ago. I am camping for $12 a night in northern Pennsylvania after the conference to recover a bit and prepare for week 2 of exams.
Basically, if you have been following this blog, support the work I do and want to support my continued work financially please donate so I can make this time a bit easier. I’m working hard to care for myself so my disability doesn’t make the time unbearable. Any donation will be directly going to self care and helps me work towards finishing my doctorate. It also helps me create amazing research that looks at the lived experience of fat people.
Donate here! ( If this link doesn’t work there is a donation button on my main blog page) (or send directly to fatbodypolitics at gmail)

hey do you have any suggestions for other fitness, food, or health blogs that are like yours? you're like the most positive force in that genre i've found but i want more lol
Thank you so much!
A lot of the positive fitness blogs that I used to follow have since become inactive, unfortunately. I feel like there used to be so many of us just a few years ago. But life gets busy, people move on, and I don’t know of too many other active blogs that support the same focus of content that I do right now.
A few of the wonderful folks that I can recommend are:
@putthatazztowork
@fatbodypolitics
@iliftheavyidoyoga
@bigfatscience
@accessibilityfails
@fitnessversusfibro
These are blogs that I actually follow and have followed for a while now, so I trust the content that they put out. While they’re not all straight-up fitness blogs, they all share information and experiences that I think are incredibly important.
If anyone else would like to recommend more, please add to the list! I think that we could all use some help getting away from weightloss-centered, harmful fitness advice.

15 questions 15 mutuals
I was tagged by @bethanyactually ❤️
1. are you named after anyone
both my first name and middle name come from my grandmothers. I'm named for my maternal and paternal grandmothers in that order. my maternal grandmother is turkish, though, so her first name is actually emine, not aaminah, and she calls me emine when she sees me.
2. when was the last time you cried
I don't remember, actually. I think in my therapist's office a couple of weeks ago? I don't cry much outside of there these days.
3. do you have/ want kids
I don't have any and I don't want any, but I have a godson I love very much and five younger siblings I helped raise. I love kids, but I don't think being a parent would be compatible with my lifestyle. I'm happy to dote on other people's kids instead.
4. do you use sarcasm a lot?
me? use sarcasm? I would never do something like that.
5. what’s the first thing you notice about people?
depends. eyes, I think? also accents.
6. what’s your eye colour?
very dark brown, almost black. nearly everyone in my family has dark eyes, though I have an uncle whose eyes are hazel, and my mother has an aunt who's a redhead with blue eyes.
7. scary movie or happy ending?
definitely a happy ending. I don't like scary movies much, and I don't see the point of watching something that ends depressingly. I have the news for that.
8. any special talents?
I can read really fast, like really fast, and I have an excellent memory for things I've read. I can play music by ear and sing tenor. also, I can wiggle my ears, which greatly amuses children.
9. where were you born?
canberra, the australian capital. I haven't lived there in more than twenty years, but I still kind of think of it as home.
10. what are your hobbies?
reading, journalling, singing, playing the piano, writing, social media, videogames, theatre, beating my siblings at trivial pursuit.
11. do you have any pets?
I had cats when I was married. my fiancé has a dog. I like animals, but I'm allergic to dogs, so I prefer to appreciate them from a distance. I love cats, though.
12. what sports do you play/ have you played?
sports are very much not a special talent of mine, but I played basketball for a season at school and I guess I was less terrible at that than I am at most sports. I used to like cross-country running when I was at school, too. these days I get all my exercise on the bikes at the gym.
13. how tall are you?
5'9"/175cm. I'm taller than my mother and sisters, but my dad and all my brothers are taller than me.
14. favourite subject in school?
I was best at english, history, music and IT. of those, english and music were probably my favourites. I taught english after I left school, and I still play an instrument and sing.
15. dream job?
I don't know, actually! maybe travel writing or ad copywriting? but I'm in law school now and I'm looking forward to maybe practicing when I graduate.
I guess I tag @heroofthreefaces, @stavvers, @gaslightgallows, @wordybee, @rosslynpaladin, @tommybecausereasons, @dinaleblanc, @jurijurijurious, @jusdefruit, @poke-bon, @fatbodypolitics, @amycvdh, @kbox-in-the-box, @dreamofbecoming and @motherfuckingampersands. but do what you want - I'm not shirley, and shirley's not your mom!

wait i can almost explain the vhs cover - my jaw is asymmetrical like that!
There’s one (1) think in Disney’s Mulan that irks me.  The jaw line.  Mulan’s jaw line is drawn differently when she’s acting as Ping. No kidding: this is her “regular, Fa Mulan” face. In this version her jaw is even highlighted by the makeup. Look how round is it.
Tumblr media
and this is her Ping jaw. Square. Totally square.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
WHY?????  Isn’t consistency in the character base shapes like, an important thing??
Not to mention how she immediately regains her long lashes as soon as she is exposed. With her round jaw obviously.

I follow 192 tumblrs. On this one alone, I’ve blocked nearly 800. I do not suffer fools gladly.
What part of that looks like I hate follow anyone?  Saying that a critical opinion of your stances can only happen because someone hate follows you is akin to Trump calling journalists who challenge him fake news or saying that he only lost the popular vote because of fraudulent votes. It shows a startling lack of self awareness but also a certain amount of intellectual dishonesty.
You may not agree with my opinions concerning things you’ve actually said in the past, and that’s fine, but to dismiss them as trolling from someone who hate follows you is ignorant. It shows that you didn’t take into consideration where the opinion came from or the fact that you might actually be capable of saying something that was questionable. I don’t mean that I’m some beacon of information; I’ve admitted I’m no one in the scheme of things. But, when you’ve finally found the right way to search my blog for your username (and I hope it’s soon), you’ll see that nothing I’ve ever posted from/about you has been hateful.
The dog thing notwithstanding, obviously.
At the end of the day, dismiss me as trolling if you want. I can’t stop it. Just stop sending your followers here looking for information about you until you can all figure out how the “tagging” system works. I’m not hiding anything. Posts from and about you stretch back YEARS on this blog and you’ll find them dated that way and in context that way.
Also you’re stated opinions about dog safety contradict each other and are hypocritical.

candy--heart replied to your photo “kirythestitchwitch: fatbodypolitics: mixie-the-pan-trashcan: ...”
Given FBP's response to a "sport" where dogs are made to jump extreme heights, I don't really trust them when it comes to "dog safety" either. I find them more reactive due to dog ownership, if anything.
LOL. One where a dog was TOTALLY into the situation and excited about doing it versus another where the dog was forced to get into a situation it wanted nothing to do with.
TBH I don’t understand why you follow me in general, so enjoy the block.
**Today is not the day. Unfollow if you’re hate following.

It was helpful. So frustrating that there isn't anything that can be done about it either. The rep I spoke to on the phone didn't care.
