i am so tired of reading books where the main (girl) character is bullied but undescribed for awhile so i build this picture in my head of a fat girl with bad skin and glasses and not white and the ugly kind of thrift stores clothes and i love her...

and then we find out that um ACTUALLY she's skinny (but like... too skinny lol) and white (but like... too pale) and has raven black hair and the reason she's getting bullied is bc her bully is so so jealous of her pretty (but not TOO pretty) waifish looks and that the cool nerdy jock likes the main girl more than the "chubby" pugfaced mean bully who has to wear make up to trick people into thinking shes cute lol!!!1!!1

Una de mis películas favoritas. Muriel’s Wedding (La boda de Muriel) de una chica obsesionada con casarse y aspirando una vida que imita la vida de quien siempre la trató mal. En un momento de su edad adulta se re encuentra con una amiga de la preparatoria que también cargaba con el estigma de rareza y también era acosada por sus compañeras. Juntas pasan unas vacaciones que las sacan de su realidad y les da una felicidad que será momentánea, mientras la tragedia de la vida real las espera. Lo bonito de esta historia es que al final nos demuestra que la vida se compone de muchas tragedias pero también de muchos finales felices.

La primera película de Toni Collette. Estupenda. Todo el cast estupendo y el baile de Waterloo icónico. Por otro lado verdadera película homenaje a Abba.

Esta película habla de juventud, de trauma, salud mental, enfermedad debilitante, ser gordo, baja autoestima, amistad, suicidio, familia, música, ilusiones, mamá issues y papá issues. Por si alguno de esos temas les atrae o prefieren evitarlos.

La comedia australiana noventera más triste que existe.

every once in a while I think about how when my school did the addams family in high school and I played pugsley (a.... canonically fat character) they ordered out costumes and only got one pugsley costume for my very skinny understudy and I had to purchase my own at age 15..... like that was really fucked up I think maybe the teacher who organized costumes should have been summarily executed for that
