NEGOTIATING OVER US (part five)

roman roy x fem reader

note: i know i said this before but don't forget english's not my first language lol i just don't y'all to be disappointed

also: i feel like these are a bit short, so sorry about that, my creativity only gets to a point lmao

summary: you catch roman inside your house, and reasonably get much angry at him, can't see his face any longer.

warning/content: just of what was left of part four, so basically no smut at all here; and some emotional angst on both of you

"what the fuck"

you said to yourself wondering what the hell was on the other side. So you rapidly, trying not to be afraid, put a towel around you and also tucking your head with some other towel too, and very fast you grabbed whatever there was in the bathroom that looked at least like a weapon; then slowly going over the door, putting your hand slightly on it, opening it gradually; as soon you see some humanly figure outside, you instantly tried to jump at him, screaming while having your hand up high about to throw the object/weapon you decided to grab.

"WOAH WAIT!" roman yelled trying to stop you from basically breaking his skull.

You stand completely still, catching your breath, very frustrated.

"ro- ROMAN?!" You couldn't believe what you was happening before your eyes.

Roman was starting to stutter, very afraid of the confrontation and what you would've done to him. "i- if you let me explain, wow um- this is... god". Roman laughs at himself by now having his guard down, taking his palms to his face. "i don't believe this is a laughing matter". You tell him very noticeably furious. "yeah yeah i know that" he says now trying to calm himself down, placing his hands over his waist. "i was, um, leaving your coat, i texted you and-" you interrupted him, your face didn't get to change that much of anger but there was some confusion. "you texted me? no... when?" you thought he was lying, then when he was about to answer your question, you remember the massages you decided to ignore earlier. "yeah the little texts you received like half an hour ago i think?". Anger consumes all over again. "oh, so you texted me? great, that incredibly justified your invasion to here". You still keep some distance from him. "your door, y/n, it was open, okay?"

You were now more confused than before, you peeked over where your door was. "it was, open?" Clearly you felt a bit scared, anyone, people like roman or even worse could've come in, and I wouldn't have noticed. You start to think, while slowly lowering your weapon and sitting on your couch, thinking to yourself and zoning out, pretty much still away from roman. "yeah, so, that's pretty dangerous, i mean, i did entered here" Roman did a terrible joke and instantly was aware of how stupid that was. "you don't get to joke around you little shit". You tell him in a serious tone.

"Okay, let me tell you what happened" You were tired enough to try anything so you let him to talk anyway. "okay so, i did actually wanted to come here, bring your coat, say sorry whatever, and then leave, so when-" you interrupt him. "I'm sorry, say sorry, whatever?, what the fuck is that supposed to mean, I'm letting you explain by the way and you still feel like puking for fucking apologizing to me? are you that scared of feelings?"

"woah.. ummm, shit yeah, no" he didn't know what to say after that. "continue your little story roman" very curious what he has to say next. "... yeah, so, i rang your bell, and so then knocked your door, and it opened-"

"so you said, oh! this is a great idea to jerk myself off! that sounds like you by the way" you mocked him. "no, i actually entered because I wanted to see if there was something wrong-" he isn't serious is he? "oh how sweet romey" You kept on teasing him. He looked at you but didn't care about your tease, he knew it was deserving. "... everything was fine, so i left your coat here (he points next to him where the coat is) and then um... i saw the steam over there, you know" He scratched his head, turning his head to avoid your judgy eyes. Your face changed all over again, although, somehow, you got to feel calmed, weren't much on your nerves apparently.

"honestly, roman, it doesn't surprise me you did what you did, that's usually you, disgusting you know... you're fucked, and since we're talking sincerely... i did, actually... like you, just so you know... but, once again, you fucked it up."

You both stood silently, then you get up from your seat to then go to your bedroom for you to get changed, while roman stayed still where he was, processing this whole thing. You came out of your room now fully clothed and much more comfortable, but of course very unhappy of everything.

You stood right outside your bedroom, leaning right next to your door frame. "so... do i need to call (you shrug) i don't know, the police?... daddy?... so that you can get the hell out of my house?" You said very confident over your own person, knowing that roman wasn't capable of doing anything.

When he turns around, you notice he's tearing up a little bit. "tears, really?." You were currently not trusting his behavior. "i had no idea roman roy was able to feel emotions." You slightly smile, crossed your arms over your chest, kept on mocking him; it's like, you wanted him to feel hurt" You see him lowering his head, feeling blue, he only watches the floor. "i get it, yeah, you're right, i am a fuck up (he laughs at himself again, in a way to cope with his nerves)... i made a mistake". He then straightly looks at you. "I'm going to leave now, so..." he doesn't say anything else, then does what he says, and leaves.

All over again, there's nothing but silence and loneliness inside your flat, like always; but now there's only left, you and your thoughts trapped together.

You get to be yourself again, to feel sad and not seem intimidating in front of him. There was something about him when feeling miserable you didn't want to care about. You hated him, you don't want to empathize to his feelings... however, you couldn't help but to feel your heart ache a bit too strong after it. You didn't know what was good or bad anymore, just more loneliness feeding up on you, leading you to then sobbing uncontrollably, while laying on your bed.

Why him. Why me. I deserve better... but why do i have the necessity to be next to him?... was it really even that bad what he did? of course it was, but it is? He just... jerked off on another room in a distance... am i also a pervert by thinking it wasn't that bad? am i disgusting?... why do i wanted to hug him as well after seeing him like that...

what is wrong with me...

Confusing thoughts were consuming your mind, you couldn't escape them, you just tried to rest while bawling your eyes out, until you fell asleep with puffy eyes and dry tears covering your face.

Tomorrow you'll know better what to do.

honestly… all of them usually get chauffeured/driven places or live in populous areas where commuting via public transport is the norm.

sam + ali can drive. max can’t. frankie wants to.

max is a passenger princess because they can’t drive but they have an annoying trait of backseat driving like….. if you wanna drive get a license 😭 at least they’re pretty and pay for gas. also max chats a lot when they’re alone with their partner so… get ready to not have a moment of quiet.

ali prefers driving mostly because they can only relax when they’re in charge of the situation. also they like taking care of their partner. will judge your music taste and says that the driver’s decision on anything is final.

frankie is a passenger princess who is the best person to have next to you. they’ll feed you when you drive, do anything you ask, make a fire playlist for long journeys and help plan anything that happens along the way. 10/10 bf/gf.

sam is an interesting case of born to be a passenger princess but forced to drive 😔 drives like its an audition for fast and furious and doesn’t understand why no one wants them to drive. they will always get you where you want to be on time even if your hair is a little messed up. sam’ll give u a kiss and compliment your new hairstyle.

I love this story so much I had to draw my MC(Since I can't draw to save my live I used AI and I wasn't disappointed) and give his backstory. Semyon "Simon" Viktorovich Draken. As young boy he was happy as can be being raised by his father Viktor, uncle Luka and aunt Cara who he considered to be his mother as his biological mother couldn't be bothered by his existence alongside his best friend Ash and occasional visits to his grandparents in New York City. He was always a happy except occasionally at school when he was bullied by Ronald Whitaker and his goons but Ash would always make them pay big afterwards, she was very protective of Simon. (I'm going to skip ahead to the good stuff since we already know what's what) After the murder of his father Simon's heart grew cold and the light in his eyes turned to night and his small body filled with rage, no rage isn't the proper word WRATH that to his credit he hid very well so well no could tell he had any emotion at all except from those that knew him well they could see some short of metamorphosis had taken place in his soul. Although Simon still had five family members left the love they give him wasn't enough to fill the void left after his father's passing and at that he felt guilty at and at the fact he was to weak to save his father this was amplified after aunt Cara was murdered and he vowed to become stronger and take over the family business one day not only to protect those he loves but to kill those he hates. He scares his Grandpa at how good he'll be at running the family.

Poltergeist, calling this Simon's alter ego would be a gross understatement he is Simon's Wrath and the evil in his heart personified. Where Simon is cool, calm and collected Poltergeist is a Nightmare creature on meth, where Simon kills someone smoothly Poltergeist leaves them a unidentifiable smear on the sidewalk(only the bad guys of course) and when he finds the man with distorted voice he'll be less than a smear on the sidewalk. Poltergeist may help people sometimes in honor of his father but he is no hero infact he hates them cause they're all fame hungry attention whores and if he met one he'd probably knock them out and break their nose. No, Poltergeist is not a hero at all he's just monster that devours smaller weaker monsters.

Also, “…if he met one he’d probably knock them out and break their nose.” I hope that’s not the case for Skylar too 🥺

And Simon being able to knit is such a cute touch! I imagine whichever RO(s) he ends up with would be surprised by that (except maybe Ash).

How's character customization going to work, in terms of stats? Is the MC able to be somewhat good at a variety of skills or can we hyperspecialize? (Ready to be a combat himbo with zero social skills.) Is the MC really competent or more just 'regular person trying to survive'?

MC is definitely a "regular person trying to survive". I would love to think that if an alien invasion happened, I would turn into Dom Toretto from Fast and Furious and be a certified invincible badass for the sake of my family, but in reality I can't do a pushup and would get my shit rocked by aliens :/ but a girl can dream...

The stat checks won't be all that difficult, but you can't be good at everything. It's better to be really good at 2 or 3 skills rather than mediocre at 5. (at least in terms of stat checks!)

The stats, personality, and traits are pretty straightforward. Depending on your choices, you'll get + or - a number of points.

I mentioned this in another ask, but you can have a low friendship with 2 romance options while still romancing them. For C, you need a high friendship to romance them because they are demisexual.

An example of how stats in Contra Spem Spiro work:

MC will have a health status between 0 and 100. Try not to get to 0, I beg. The MC can also receive permanent injuries when applicable. Just try not to do a backflip off a rooftop with a low combat skill, okay?

Xandin marches through the village like a storm from hell. What happened to you was unacceptable, and a major failing on his part. This should not have even had the chance to happen. Your unconscious form floats next to him, in stasis and held up by a telekinesis spell. Being in a magical stasis is largely unpleasant, he will apologize later, and he will make sure there is a later, Goddess of death be damned. The slam of the clinic door rings out like thunder throughout the village, The door is locked and the curtains are drawn. He orders Sterling to fetch his tools.

He will not lose you. ------------------------------------------------------------- Yuuki is no stranger to injury, to pain. Part of him shrivels a little inside at how familiar this feels, the metallic, choking scent of blood, the weight on his back as he carries you, holding his breath and staying deathly still as he checks to feel the weak rise and fall of your chest against his back. He hates this familiarity, this instinct. The sharp edges of guilt start to claw at him for not protecting you, for not being there sooner, but he stamps it down. Not now.

He has to save you. ------------------------------------------------------------- Andrew's brow is furrowed and his eyes as sharp as daggers, a stray vein on his temple making itself known. His jaw is set, clenching so hard it threatens to break his molars.

She stares for a long time, -trusting Diego to watch the road for her- making sure the weak rise and fall of your chest doesn't stutter or stop.

You'll make it through this. You have to. ------------------------------------------------------------- Cy curses at themself as they run down the darkened alleys as fast as they can while holding you up by the shoulders, half dragging you down the streets.

It all went to shit and now you're bleeding out.

Absolutely nothing went to plan and you ended up taking a hit that was meant for them. Idiot. Stupid. Fucking dumbass.

They begin to slow their pace, pricking their ears for the sound of any pursuit. After a long, long while of waiting, they slowly -so slowly- set you down and prop you up against the alley wall. They don't have shit to treat this. They lift your shirt to check the wound. They need to stop the bleeding and they are not a fucking healer. Their jaw clenches as they eye the bleeding wound, and they summon fire from their hand.

God, you're gonna hate them for this.

A gasp escaped Cora’s mouth when Rosamund stepped out of the changing room. She was wearing a creme white strapless jumpsuit. The top was a silky fabric that was draped in layers.

Rosamund turned around. “Do you like it?” She asked.

“You look amazing in it. Marmaduke will be in awe as soon as he sees you.”

“That is what I am aiming for. Mama will be furious when she sees my choice.” Rosamund winked. “Now let’s see how your bridesmaid dress looks on you.”

“Oh Rosamund, this is your day. I wasn’t expecting to go dress shopping for me.” Cora protested.

“Cora I have already some dresses hanging aside for you. Please try them on.”

Cora smiled. “When you are sure. Oke let me see your picks.”

Rosamund had picked four dresses. Cora stepped out in the last one. The first three were not it and Cora did not like this one either. “Maybe, I should follow your example and not go for a dress. I bet they have suits or jumpsuits for bridesmaids too?” She looked at the shop assistant.

“We most definitely have that.” The shop assistant answered.

“Cora, Mama and Papa are going to get a heart attack when we both do not appear in a dress.”

“Isn’t that their problem and not yours?” Cora said carefully.

Rosamund laughed softly. “You are right, but what would Robert say?”

“I am going to sound harsh, but I do not care what he thinks. Your opinion and Marmaduke’s matter on this day. No one else’s.”

“Oh Cora, I love you. Thank you for being my friend.” Rosamund wrapped her arms around Cora and held her tight. “I am glad you are making sure this will be my day.”

“Rosamund, is there something bothering you?” When Rosamund hugged her, she felt it was more intense than usual.

With a deep sigh, Rosamund lowered her eyes and sat down.

“Ros?” Cora now said with worry in her voice. “What is wrong, can you tell me? Do you want to tell me?”

“We would not tell anybody before the wedding.”

“You worry me, Rosamund.”

“Marmaduke is ill.”

Cora slowly sat down on the sofa. “How bad is it?”

Rosamund was wringing her hands in her lap. “Cancer, it is cancer.”

Cora stretched her hand and took Rosamund’s.”When will they start with the treatment?”

Now Rosamund looked up, and Cora saw the desperate look in her eyes.

“Rosamund? Is this why the wedding day is this fast?”

Rosamund nodded her head.

The shop assistant came back with a colourful suit and a jumpsuit for Cora to try on.

“Hey, I was not expecting to find you in my kitchen tonight.” Robert said surprised when he got home and saw Cora in his apartment. He stepped closer and kissed her neck. “I thought you would go out for dinner with Ros. Did she find a dress?”

Cora nodded. “She did.”

“Cora?” Robert put his hand on her shoulders and turned her around. “What is the matter?”

“She asked me not to tell you.” Cora looked at the ground, and quickly looked up into his eyes. Suddenly she wrapped her arms around him and pressed her body close to his. Her hand moved to his hair.

Robert put his hands around her and kept her close as long as she needed. “You do not need to tell me. It is alright.”

When Cora looked up at him again he saw tears in her eyes, one rolled down over her cheek. Softly he brushed it away, gentle he pressed his lips on Cora’s. “Tell me about her dress.”

Cora kissed him back. “That will be a surprise. Did you already plan Marmaduke’s stag do?”

“I am thinking about it, but it is a bit early is it not?”

Cora turned back towards the stove. “Maybe you could arrange it earlier.”

He pressed another kiss in her neck. “I do not know what happened and what is wrong, but I will start planning his party. Is there time for me to take a quick shower? It is so incredibly hot outside and we went on a lunch walk. Papa said it would be good for me.”

Cora leaned her head back and smiled at him. “It is good for you, you still need to make sure you walk enough to get that last bit of healing done. Dinner will be ready in about fifteen minutes.

She sighed when Robert left the kitchen, maybe it was not the best idea to go to Robert’s house after this afternoon. Rosamund asked not to tell the family about Marmaduke’s condition. But she could have known that Robert would see it on her face. She was glad he did not press her to tell him, even though she thought he should know. It was his sister. She was glad at least Rosamund had told her, this way she could be there for her and support her.

She heard the shower running, dinner was ready. She put it on a low heat and quickly got some writing paper out of Robert’s office. Slowly her stuff was also appearing in this house, but not her stationery things. They were still at home. She preferred her apartment over Robert’s. His apartment had an incredible view over the city, but it was always busy outside. Hers was looking over the Thames River and when she went for a stroll it was quiet outside.

The shower was still running, she could finish this before he got out and went back into the kitchen.

‘Dear Harold,

Hope you are doing well. How is Mama doing? And the company?

My life here has changed a lot, as you probably realised. Robert’s proposal was the most romantic thing that ever happened to me. But I will not bore you again with that story. I cannot thank you enough for allowing me to marry him. Or at least to get married to him.

Well, that is not why I am writing this letter. I need to talk to somebody about this, and I cannot tell Robert. It has to do with Rosamund his sister and her fiancée Marmaduke. Marmaduke is ill, very ill. They are going to get married this Autumn, the wedding is arranged very quickly. Today I learned that Marmaduke has pancreatic cancer, stage four. It has already spread to his liver and lungs. Rosamund told me this afternoon that he will probably not make it till the end of this year. She asked me not to tell her family, they wanted to prepare for the wedding without everybody worrying about him. I am not sure if that is wise, but I do not have a choice and will need to keep my lips sealed. I do hope you will not tell Mama or anybody about this letter.

I am quite scared of what is going to happen. Rosamund is my friend, and I do not want to see her unhappy. And as long as nobody knows about this, I cannot do anything.

Dear brother, I am sending you a big hug with this letter and a kiss for Mama. I will wrap Robert a bit closer in my arms tonight and thank God he is still with me.

Ps. He told me that he wants children. Oh, Harold, he wants children! Can you imagine me with a little one? Because I cannot wait for Robert to be a proud daddy. Let us hope it is in the stars for us.

Cora smelled Robert’s pineapple and cedarwood eau de cologne. She looked up and saw him enter the kitchen. His hair was still wet and he was wearing light beige pants with a dark blue polo shirt. That was something she loved so much about him. He was always dressed niceley. She folded the letter in half and put it in the envelope.

“You look refreshed.” She said smiling, while she got up to serve dinner.

Robert took a couple of big steps to reach her. “I feel refreshed. I am happy you are here, I think I forgot to tell you that when I got home.”

Cora raked with her fingers through his hair. “I am happy to be here too. We should do that more often.”

Robert kissed her neck and softly bit her earlobe. “Where do you want to live?”

“I heard you had a large house somewhere?” Cora leaned her full body weight against Robert.

“I heard you are going to rebuild a large house.” He moved his hands over her stomach and pressed her against his body.

“It is an option, but let us first eat.” Cora kissed him tenderly.
