                Tallahassee was rarely speechless, but now he found himself struggling to form words into a comprehensible sentence. His thoughts go to his only son, Buck, and how he hadn’t made it to be there with him right now. The little blonde boy that he loved more than life itself. Tallahassee had sudden flashes of those early mornings when Buck would run into his room and jump onto his bed to wake him up, eager to get the day started. He would always ask him for pancakes... those were his favorites. A smile twitched onto his face when remembered the sticky mess he would be afterwards. 

                Maggie didn’t know about any of that. She didn’t know that he had had a son before the outbreak, because he hadn’t told her. Knowing the brunette’s name was already more than enough to make him uncomfortable with the familiarity. Everyone was just going to die, eventually, right?

                “If you wanna believe that way, then go right on ahead, knock yourself out.” He knew that sounded harsh, but he didn’t mean for it to come out that way, so he added. “I try not to get too attached to anybody. Don’t take it personally.” He had been a loner ever since everything that had happened with Buck, and after that, he didn’t see much of a point in getting attached to anyone else... It’d probably hurt too much to care about someone else like that. “Haven’t you ever worried about getting too attached to anyone?”
