I’ve been hit with the idea of Faro and Ar’alani having definitely fallen for each other a little bit during Treason, but it’s not the time or place or even professional since they have ships to run and lives to save, and since both of them can hide their feelings, there’s so. much. damn. pining. between them.

Ar’alani can spot emotions but she’s also a woman who’s been hit with cupid’s metaphorical arrow, in addition to her primary attention being the safety of the Chiss and annoyance at Thrawn and dealing with the Navigators but she catches Faro staring at her for too long and thinks there probably is a root cause but she can’t do anything about it.

Faro sees Ar’alani warm up to her, trust in her relatively quickly (though she knows the Chiss are slow to trust outsiders). While she really only has Thrawn’s emotional depth to base her knowledge of how the species works, she can tell there’s a respect there, and while she knows this is a joint military operation and that she shouldn’t look too much into it, she wants to believe, in the corners of her mind between planning a Marg Sabl and running the Chimeara, that Ar’alani enjoys her presence.
