Time for me to post other things than Puter Wilds fanart!

I had this idea based on a reddit post (that I can't find anymore) of someone who photoshopped a shark in a spooky forest and called it their worst nightmare. And I thought "wouldn't that be fun if it was some evil witch familiar". So I drew this.

Someone asked me for the lore behind this, so here's what I imagined: She's a witch either eats human or animal flesh or uses it in rituals. She uses the lights and the fog to make the people lost in the forest believe that there is a safe village nearby, or to simply attract curious animals. She blinded the shark herself to make it more docile.

Also if you're curious: the skulls on the trees are of humans, rabbits, doe, wolf and bear.

Weretober 2024 - The Witches of Beast Fables

Since it's both Weretober AND Spooky season, I might as well share some bits of worldbuilding for my Beast Fables setting, Witches!

Witches in Urvara are practictioners of some of the oldest cultural and religious traditions in the setting, revering the Gift of transformation that all werefolk and certain animals share.

The goal was to give these witches a vibe that they are "normalized" in comparison to many fantasy settings, in which they are considered respected (by some nations) and vital, while not dabbling too much into classic "magic" elements. At most, dragon remains are the most magical items they do have.

The real conflict within the setting is actually that witches were, historically, antagonized by Alchemists, because they were seen as competition when it comes to studying the bones and remains of dragons.

And of course I followed a maiden mother and crone theme!

Heyyy remember that one witch art I made recently?

This drawing was from a sketch that was planned for that witch drawing. I decided to instead go for a front view, but I really like that side view, and wanted to keep it for something else...

So instead of an evil witch, why not a good witch, or a friendly spirit that rides a big Koi fish, guiding the lost people out of the forest? Here's the original sketch if you're curious:

I'm so glad I am done with this piece, because I somwhat hated the process. It was sooo hard to visualize the final result, and it felt wrong the whole time. But I am glad that it came out like this!
