"I hope you come to see my show someday."

David tried to sound casual while also hiding all his regrets and his longing for the other man's attention.

"I hope to see a bullet hole between your eyes someday."

Dale in his drunken state had forced the words out and it felt almost painful. Actually every type of movement was kind of painful. What was Mr Crow putting in his drink?

The magician patted the other man's back.

"But first you need to sober up! I was literally dragging you through the entire hotel! Now tell me where your room key is."

Instead of an answer he received an angry look from the detective and David sighed. He started to check the detective's pockets in hopes of finding it before his arms get too tired of holding the shorter man.

Thankfully he found it inside Dale's left inner pocket and pulled it out.

David knew that the hotel room keys had tags with the room number attached to them but Dale's key had something else instead.

"Is that a rabbit foot?!"

Little something I'm working on. This is not the final version and will probably be edited after I finished the whole thing.

Context: Dale got drunk and David is helping him to his room.

(it's not a shippy fic since they are still at the beginning of barely tolerating each other (mostly on Dale's part) but this just means that this is the beginning of a very slow slow burn)
