PSA for folk using the Tiger & Bunny Wiki

Alongside the notice I put up on the front page, we are indeed moving. With all images on main (aka counted page count) pages except the main characters' removed - thanks to the Pages without images special page - we are just about ready to get that XML ready, we just need to remove the final images from the main character pages and remaining galleries. Initially, the were left up so users could still find reference images easily on both wiki and search results. But now with all other pages down for the count, it's time for the Protag (and Yuri) pages to join them, so grab any images off those pages and the remaining Gallery pages (Kotetsu's Barnaby's and Episode 1s with some repeating images between all 3 galleries) before they get nuked. After this, once we have the XML, we'll cease editing on the Fandom wiki and actually move, exciting times, yes?

It’s Fandom’s 20th anniversary, the site responsible for the many fan wikis and encyclopaedias of many different genres and media from books, to cartoons to games to anime to movies and etc! Despite the flaws and general controversies surrounding Fandom, it’s still something I hold dearly and love thanks to the many wikis of shows and franchises I love and I’ll never forget it too! Happy 20th Anniversary Fandom and thanks for the many memories of different fa made Wikipedias. :)

"Herbert Horror"

Wow, he really IS horrifying! I mean- look at him! it's a charecter design artists nightmare!

Anyways, he's an evil clone of Herbert Percival Bear Esquire [Wait wasn't Herbert already evil?] except his fur is purple [It looks like he has pink in his fur too, but the wiki says it's only purple so yeah...] he has three stars on his fur the stars positions are one on his upper chest and the other stars are on both of his thighs [Although it's a bit hard to see the stars, they're there] and and he has multi-colored stained glass wings consisting of the colors cyan, blue, and pink with a little bit of green near the starting point of the wings.

STATS:

His level is unknown but he has great "SURVIOR" skills [That's what the wiki literally said]

His health is unknown but very high.

He isn't dead, don't worry.. actually DO WORRY, WORRY ALOT ABOUT HIM BEING ALIVE.

His current location is at a gym training to rematch Garteam in the super arena.

His title is "Dastardly evil Herbert clone"

"Herbert Horror is in truth, an evil, superpowered Herbert clone. Herbert grew tired of the PSA constantly hassling him and foiling his plans to conquer Club Penguin and ruin their fun, so he turns to the one thing that relaxes him the most, his hobby; gardening. Herbert is a fantastic gardener who can plant many things, but because the plants he brought in weren't native to Club Penguin, they sadly turned brown and died. Herbert, infuriated by this, decides to find a plant that thrives off the cold. Looking through his old book on plants, he discovers a particular plant called the Doom Weed. [Don't worry, I'll explain what doom weed is in a future post -Blogger]

It is said whoever consumes this plant gains great power. Herbert, who needs this power to exact his "justice", travels underground in the Earthquake Driller, where the Doom Weed rests.

After finding the Doom Weed, Herbert uses its power to create a stronger, more evil clone of himself, which is now known as Herbert Horror.

His involvement in the Purple Team is that he simply hates penguins yelling and screaming about the Red and Blue team. Purple Penguin overheard Herbert Horror complaining to Klutzy about the Red and Blue teams, so he invites him into the Purple Team. Herbert Horror mistakes the team as a plan to destroy the Red and Blue teams, and causes many conflicts between them."

His OTHER involvement into something ELSE will be covered, in a future post... or it won't im not promising anything.

In my attempt to be the entire Quantum Leap reboot fandom apparently, I'm updating all the main character bios on the Wiki because it's CRIMINAL that nobody has already. Starting with Nanrisa Lee's beautiful Jenn Chou and Mason Alexander Park's stunning Dr. Ian Wright is next :D

Minecraft Wiki is independent again!!

Yahoo!!! No more FANDOM wiki!!! Find the new minecraft wiki at minecraft.wiki!!

I thought it would be good to make a little PSA post with summarised information on why they moved from FANDOM!

Why did they move?

FANDOM is notoriously a bad wiki for both readers and editors alike. This is due to the insane amount of ads, the site layout, the lag, the fact that FANDOM can just take your wiki from you, etc has made the minecraft wiki decide to move

Because of the lack of agency the minecraft wiki has over its own wiki, they had a long discussion and vote with the community on what wiki platform to move towards. You can view both discussions here and here

By moving to a more independent wiki, they can provide a much better and friendlier service.

What's improved with the new wiki?

New site look, lacking the ugly FANDOM yellow sidebar and removing all other unnecessary bloat! This also includes a dark mode option and other custom settings.

Faster load times! I have incredibly good internet, and even I notice the STARK difference between the load times of FANDOM and the official wiki!

Less ads! At the moment they have no ads, but they do intend to have at least one. The placement of which will be discussed with the community to ensure minimal disruption to the user.

Better search functionality! FANDOM's search is notoriously bad at giving you the answers you need. Now they can have a more robust search function that more accurately brings users to what they are looking for.

No age popups- Unlike FANDOM this wiki does not need to know if you're a child or adult.

Anonymous editing has returned! Users can now once again anonymously contribute to the site!

HOWEVER. THE MINECRAFT WIKI NEEDS YOUR HELP!

FANDOM refuses to close old wiki's that have moved away, and so they will continue to show up in search domains. The old domains such as minecraft.gamepedia.com and minecraftwiki.net are also permanently attached to the FANDOM wiki.

In order to help the new wiki be successful, you can help out in the following way:

Spread the word!

Don't interact with FANDOM links. The less people interact with FANDOM, the more google knows that people are looking for the official wiki and not the FANDOM one!

Dont use the old links, again for the same reason as above!

And of course, improve the wiki :D! Since you don't need an account to make edits, see what you can contribute!

Please for the love of god, if you value whatever media or whatever you're creating a wiki for:

DO NOT USE FANDOM WIKIA

Not just because Fandom wiki is just straight up adware. But because they will happily take all your rights as a wiki owner away and give it to a corporation in the name of profits, like they did to the McDonald's wiki or y'know, completely destroy LGBTQ+ wikis on many identities (including removing nearly every aroacespec labels including demisexual, greyromantic, and many other labels, including many more I used!) all without the permission or consent of the admins of the wiki to "make LGBTQ+ identities easier to understand" and replaced the admins with their own chosen ones, of which iirc were very questionable in their behavior.

"What are alternatives then?"

Fandom Wikia runs off a FREE open-source software known as MediaWiki, it's the same thing Wikipedia, Bulbapedia, and many others use.

This means that you can host your own wiki, or use any other wiki farm such as Miraheze, which is what the wiki I help run uses.

The best part about WikiMedia is that something made on one wiki can be cross-compatible with another. We often use and base our templates off of other wikis, and it makes it somewhat easier to transfer from FANDOM if necessary.

Stop FANDOM's monopoly over wikis, they'll stab you in the back as soon as it's a choice between the user or profits.

imagine people going to a sherlock holmes wikia, opening a list of character pages for every person who has ever appeared in a sherlock holmes story, picking characters at random and reading what they did in chronological order, and doing that until they've gone through every character. and then arguing that sherlock holmes is badly written and makes no sense and has twists and asspulls out of nowhere with their whole chest until that's the default understanding of the series to outsiders

that's what people have been doing to the evillious chronicles for 10 years

If you're familiar with the South Park Archives, pretty much the only SP fansite still online - there's over eighteen years of history there, pages and renders for tons of characters and locations, thousands of screenshots, a pretty dedicated staff, transcripts of every episode, and so much more. When I made my start writing shitty fanfics, it was a super useful resource, and that was a small chunk of what it is today.

FANDOM has today unveiled a new Offensive Terms Policy which continues a trend in the last few years been suggested in events like Community Connect, where it has previously been suggested wikis avoid references to canonical sex. The avoidance of slurs is something I would be super supportive of generally -- we don't need to see that kind of stuff on Wookiepedia or like, a wiki for Bluey. It'll keep people from vandalizing children's wikis with adult content for kicks. I am generally in favor of content filtering, especially for family-friendly-oriented content.

...but, this is going to cause a lot of problems for the South Park Archives, a show with a major character who frequently uses slurs and is firmly anti-censorship. You don't need to be an editor to think about that. If you're a fan, you know what kind of show we're talking about.

This is a show with episodes called "The Biggest Douche in the Universe", "Major Boobage", "Reverse Cowgirl" and "Titties and Dragons". There are songs like "Fuck the Police" and "Jacking it in San Diego". There is a character called 'Retarded Fish'. The names of these songs and episodes, bear in mind, are legally registered copyrights, not our choices -- how do you change that? Move an article to Episode 1601? What about "Fuck the Police", which isn't even a South Park original song?

You can clean up a synopsis, and formalize language on a character page, I've done both of those things when I was an editor, but you can't undo all of this. How do you?

That's not even getting into the transcripts pages, which are intended to be 100% accurate to the actual dialogue, continuing the tradition from the good ol' South Park Scriptorium...

Within the day of the policy change, FANDOM has already started to make changes to remove slurs from the transcript pages that are unable to be modified as it is directly related to global policy. I don't know that the staff were communicated with about this personally either, but I'm not in the know like I used to be.

No doubt some of this move is prompted by advertisers - FANDOM previously cited advertiser feedback as a motivation for inserting all sorts of videos on top of wiki pages (similar to their later push to include AI-generated content) and understandably many advertisers may not want their brand name mere inches from a discussion of cartoon eight-year-olds using slurs. I mean, shoot, I wouldn't if I were in charge of a major company, and I get someone needs to keep the lights on, but...

I don't know man, it's a shitty position to be in. It's a well-intended policy that I'd support in almost any other context but literally this narrow exception, and I definitely hate the thought of looking like I'd be defending use of offensive terms, but like, how do you cover "everything" about South Park, an explicitly adult show that is so firmly anti-censorship, that builds entire episodes around these kinds of jokes, or even analyze it from a critical perspective, in such a family-friendly, sanitized way, without betraying its spirit and creative intent?

You can imagine how many staff members there are probably scratching their heads or bashing them into lamp posts, trying to figure out what to do or how to move forward after this. They could apply for an exception, but would it even be granted? What would the alternative be? Are restrictions like this worth it or do they render the whole thing moot? How much responsibility lies with FANDOM? Are advertisers forcing the whole internet down this road? There are so many questions in the air on this. I certainly don't have answers.

Reminder that a lot of FANDOM wikis can't move because Miraheze isn't super friendly if you have complicated templates and CSS and a lot of the people running fan wikis simply don't have the resources to be able to host their own website. Please, you can criticize FANDOM without shaming individual wikis which may not have the ability and resources to move. Use BreezeWiki and UBlock.
