i'm natalie. i'm 29 and very much so into writing and musing txf. you'll see other things on my dash, but mostly it'll be mulder, scully, or txf things. i'm new to the fandom, but i have been writing for a long time. i'm interested in making friends, so feel free to hop into my messages at any given time and we'll just chit-chat and talk about anything, really!
i'm not outgoing at all, very introverted, love to read, love to write, but i hope to make some friends and get to know as many people as possible. i also hope you like my writing + stories!

21+. She/Her. Looking for 21+ writing partners for my five biggest fandom obsessions right now. 🐺
I write on Discord or through Tumblr messages. Third person, past tense and typically around 200-400 words. I work full-time during the week so I can't guarantee daily replies. I try to get them up as soon as I can, which may only be a day or could be closer to 3-5 days, so patience is a must. I don't expect perfect grammar but average to above average is what I tend to look for. I may ask for a writing sample, and you may ask me for the same.
I'm mainly looking for canon x canon pairings but canon x OC and OC x OC are on the table. MxM ships are my preference. I'm open to taking on a limited amount of MxF. As far as plots go, as long as it makes sense within the universe, I'll generally be okay with it. I'm okay with keeping things clean or writing NSFW/smut. Just let me know what you're looking for there.
I'll be listing my main muses for each fandom. I have my favorite ships for each, but I'm open to discussing plenty of others.
Baldur's Gate 3 (BG3):
Abdirak
Arvir (m!OC ; Tiefling ; Cleric of Bane)
Astarion
Elkantar (m!OC ; Durge ; Drow ; Sorcerer)
Gale Dekarios
Ketheric Thorm
Raphael
Rolan
Zevlor
Wyll Ravengard
Doctor Who (DW):
Dhawan!Master
Eleventh Doctor
Fifth Doctor
Rogue
Sixth Doctor
Interview with the Vampire (IWTV ; TV show only):
Armand
Lestat de Lioncourt
Louis de Pointe du Lac
Marvel/Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU):
Benjamin Poindexter
Billy Russo
Bucky Barnes
Loki Laufeyson
Nathan Summers
Andrew!Peter Parker
Ray Nadeem
Tony Stark
The X-Files (TXF):
Alex Krycek
CGB Spender/The Cigarette Smoking Man

Tag Game
I was tagged by @randomfoggytiger. Thanks for thinking about me!
Favourite painter: Oh, this is a tough one. I'm drawn to works from artists like Monet, Botticelli, Andrew Wyeth, Mucha, Van Gogh, Michelangelo. I'm all over the place. I'm not even going to try to list fandom artists. There are too many and I don't want to risk leaving anyone out.
Favourite writer: Again, more than one. Just off the top of my head: Stephen King, Justin Cronin, Chuck Windig, George R.R. Martin, Gillian Flynn. Generally writers who are really good at creating memorable characters who straddle the line dividing good and evil. As George put it so eloquently, stories that explore the human heart in conflict with itself. Bowing out on fanfic writers here, too. There are too many to list.
Favourite band: Now and for the last decade, Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit.
Favourite meal and drink: At this point in my life any food that anyone other than me cooks and sets in front of me. But I do enjoy farm to table that's not too fussy or complicated. Keep it simple and clean and flavorful. Add a glass of semi-dry wine and I'm good to go.
Favourite outfit aesthetic: I don't know that I have one. If I must be pinned down I'll go with boho/hippie. There's nothing I love more than simple blue jeans or leggings with a t-shirt or flowy blouse. But I refuse to wear dresses unless it's a wedding or a funeral. I don't have legs one would want to show off. Genetics gifted me with, as my mom once put it, "peasant legs". Also the 14 inch scar on my left leg from numerous surgeries isn't very aesthetically pleasing. I prefer to keep it covered.
Favourite singer: Another one I can't cull to just one. Jason Isbell, Van Morrison, Bob Seger, Beth Hart, Amos Lee, Ray LaMontagne, John Mayer, Stevie Nicks, Joy Oladakun. That's just a start. Unique voices, I guess.
Favourite item I own: Well, those of us who have pets are often referred to as pet *owners*, right? So I'll go with Levon the Cat, though I'm pretty sure he owns me and not the other way around.
Favourite possession: My carefully curated fandom items. Mostly my collection of BATB fanzines and TXF memorabilia. All of those, as well as the things I've been bequeathed or were given to me by family members/friends who are no longer with us. Knick-knacks, art and pieces of antique furniture from my mom and oldest brother; an unreleased album of songs written and performed by my bestest friend in the world - all of which were written with me serving as muse. Other things that I don't like to think about too much because it's painful. But all of them cherished.
Favourite perfume: Black Opium. It smells like all my favorite scents combined.
Tagging anyone who'd like to play!

So interesting staying a fan of something so long (I’ve been obsessed with txf for 15 years!) and only intermittently engaging with the fandom. Like I had my tumblr and DeviantArt days at the start and have been on twitter for the last few years before returning to tumblr. And tumblr (and DeviantArt rip in peace) probably facilitate the most discussion of the show’s meta and can reflect overarching fan focus and even fanon with the most nuance beyond photosets and quips.
All this to say I’ve been back on tumblr for a few weeks and have noticed the prevalence of Diana Fowley in the overarching conversation, like what is her place in the meta and the level of importance she plays for Mulder (and by extension Scully) and idk. That just wasn’t A Thing back in my early fandom times. It felt more like Fowley was contained in the little bubble of the episodes she featured in and everyone just kind of groaned about her presence. And sort of assumed Mulder’s feelings about her were that simple too.
And this new (to me) interpretation isn’t bad! Definitely not saying that, I think it adds way more depth to Mulder’s pre-pilot life. Just musing on how we collectively piece together and reimagine and reinterpret a show or piece of media with this much staying power and two such complex characters.

So anyway...
Today I have a whole load of anons in my inbox asking my opinion on this and that regarding David and Gillians private lives. All asking in a respectful manner with the exception of a couple.
So here's where I stand on this whole thing.
I honestly don't really spend too much time hypothesising as to exactly what is going on although I read others blogs with a certain interest whilst still being mindful that our interpretation of any given subject is not stone cold fact and shouldn't be treated as such.
I think there are people in this fandom who are intent on spreading discourse in any way they can and thrive on the attention they recieve as a result and while It's not for me to tell people how to behave, I don't have to like, agree, discuss or reblog their words, photos or videos.
I very much like to base my life on fact not theory and while it can offer short-term gratification, I don't see all the quick-fix dramatics as putting anyone in a particularly good place especially when you consider how unforgiving and quick to judge, this fandom can be.
I am here as a fan of the X-Files first and foremost and that's what I want to concentrate on for the next few months. I want to enjoy the speculation and bts pics, the interviews and articles, the fan fic, videos and art. I want to continue having great discussions with my mutuals and finding the positives rather than dwelling on the potential negatives.
I enjoy my Tumblr experience - I have made some great friends on here - and I'm not about to jeopardise my enjoyment with actions and events by people I cannot control. And for this reason I will leave questions about that very subject at the door where they belong.
The fandom experience is what each individual wants it to be and we all have the ability to choose how we want to tailor that experience and sometimes It's good to just take a step back, to take a pause and just see how things pan out.
And That's where I am right now. 😊

I'm so sorry you feel that way!!!!!!!!!!!! I think you are such an impressive writer ESPECIALLY at your age. You focus on all the losers, which I think the it fandom doesn't really... Actually actively do. Dgmw, Reddie is a gift from heaven periodt but also... If you're not 100% in reddie and producing reddie content people tend to be a little more. Quiet. I feel you😔 seriously. And I'm also here for you!!! I think you are quite amazing
aww thank you anon!! 💕💕 i dont mean to complain -- i've just had some complicated feelings as of late lol. i definitely do see a lack of focus on other losers, although theres a lot of fics that do explore them well; i've wondered if my decline in fic response was linked to the fact that i wrote more Loser centric stuff after midnights was done, but maybe that's just me. (i got a couple of comments/bookmark comments on midnights that said it was more of a losers club friendship fic than a richie/eddie fic and i... disagree but nbd.) i appreciate your support! i have a couple fics in the works that i might continue and might not -- i'm trying to play it by ear, and it's not like i've been overtly blocked for long, but who knows?

Old School X is a project interviewing X-Files fanfic authors who were posting fic during the original run of the show. New interviews are posted on Tuesdays.
Interview with Gwinne
Gwinne has 16 stories at Gossamer, most of which you can also find at AO3 along with some later, revival-era fics. If you haven’t read her fics, you are in for a treat. Her Scully is particularly endearing in many fics dealing with her pregnancy or William in some way. Big thanks to Gwinne for doing this interview.
Does it surprise you that people are still interested in reading your X-Files fanfics and others that were posted during the original run of the show (1993-2002)?
I will say I was surprised by the phenomenon of all the reboot TV shows in general, and the revival of TXF specifically.  But, no, it doesn’t surprise me that late 90s/00s fanfic is still being read with the resurrection of those shows.  I am curious—though I know little about—the relationship between the fics posted during the original run and more recently.  To what extent are the authors from back then involved in fandom now?  This interview project is exciting to me for that reason as a way to bridge generations of writers.  I think reposting older stories on AO3 is another way to do that work.  Social media didn't really exist during the show's original run. How were you most involved with the X-Files online (atxc, message board, email mailing list, etc.)? I remember finding an early fanfic right after Fight the Future, in the summer of 1998.  It was a piece about Diana Fowley that was otherwise unremarkable.  I honestly don’t know how/where I stumbled across it, as I hadn’t heard of the term ‘fan fiction’ until then (I also realized I’d written fan fiction even as a kid, based on Little House on the Prairie!)  But shortly thereafter, I found an X-files yahoo group and then Scullyfic (later “E-muse”), as well as the Ephemeral and Gossamer sites.  Those were the primary ways in which I interacted with other fans and fanfiction.  At some point I started reading academic writing about fan culture, like Henry Jenkins’ work.
What did you take away from your experience with X-Files fic or with the fandom in general? Scullyfic provided a community of like-minded women for me during a tumultuous time in my life, as I was finishing up graduate school, applying for jobs, and contemplating my own path toward motherhood; Scullyfic was friendly but also highly analytical, with weekly prompts and posts about episodes (around season 7 and 8).  After years of needing to go to campus to check email, I had just gotten dial up internet in my apartment and I remember reading the Scullyfic listserv almost daily.  Some friendships migrated from that space to email, IM, and even “real life,” though I’ve subsequently lost touch with almost everyone from that time.
In that era (say, 2000-2002) I read voluminous amounts of fanfic.  It was my major source of reading for pleasure.  I’m a writer by training but didn’t have much experience in fiction; writing fic helped develop that skill set in a relatively ‘safe’ (because anonymous) space. What was it that got you hooked on the X-Files as a show?
The one word answer:  Scully!
The longer answer:  I came to The X-Files midway through the original run.  I was a senior in college when the series began, and my roommate had turned on the pilot; I remember watching the opening sequence and the show feeling like some bad “based on real life” thing I had no interest in.  But I started watching regularly during the cancer arc in Season 4, with some friends from my graduate program who got together for dinner and an episode on Sunday nights.  One of the first episodes I watched was “Leonard Betts,” which exemplified the best of the episodes in which a MOTW and character-driven episode come together.  Local TV stations also aired reruns at various times, and some of the VHS compilations were available at Blockbuster (wow, haven’t thought about that in a while!), so my early viewings were out of order and mixed up.  (The myth arc is even more confusing that way.)  Eventually (late 2000?) I got a DVD player and the DVDs (which, yes, I still have) and watched in order.  I think I’m an atypical fan in many ways, but I much prefer seasons 4-7 to the earlier ones, probably because that was my point of entry.    What is your relationship like now to X-Files fandom?  Do you ever still watch The X-Files or think about Mulder and Scully? I’ve circled back to The X-Files at a couple moments since the original run.  When I Want to Believe came out, I read (and started working on) some fanfic again.  Same with the reboot.  I found some new writers via AO3 and Tumblr (though I don’t have my own Tumblr account).  I wrote something I intended to be part of a series and gave up on it.  I just don’t have the luxury of time that I once did to immerse myself in the experience; the writing I do is largely professional now.  I’ve rewatched episodes periodically, mostly old favorites (“Bad Blood,” “Postmodern Prometheus,” much of Season 7) but haven’t gotten back into the show in any serious way since then.  I tried a rewatch at the beginning of the pandemic and gave up on it; I still love Scully but the show feels very dated to me now. Were you involved with any fandoms after the X-Files? If so, what was it like compared to X-Files? No. Do you ever still read X-Files fic? Do you have any favorite X-Files fanfic stories or authors? As I mentioned above, I do dip in and out of fanfic, although it’s been a few years since I read anything longer; I have notifications set up on AO3 so if an author I like posts something it goes to my email.  Otherwise, I’m not looking for fic; my non-pseudonymous self doesn’t read a lot of fiction in general, though when I do it’s a big third person novel.  (I just read The Plot and highly recommend.) Yes, I have favorites!  The work I was drawn to as an early reader was what I’d call “well written” on a sentence level but also created a particular world I liked.  I rarely got into any fic written in the first person.  I rarely liked what would be considered real AUs (like, Mulder and Scully meeting in high school, or in 1860 or something).  Did not read smut for smut’s sake.  I’m sure there’s some other quality that unifies “work I like” but I’d have to think more about it.
Most of the writers I liked and connected with I met via Scullyfic, including Bonetree and Alanna.  Fialka’s “Swings and Roundabouts” (I think that’s the name?) and her “Arizona Highways” [part 1, part 2] is one of my absolute favorite longer fics.  Prufrock’s Love’s work always hits the right tone for me; their more recent “Dr. Scully’s School for Exceptional Boys” is really great.  And Dasha K….I don’t remember the title but she has a post-FTF piece that includes eating mushroom pasta that I would really like to find again. [Lilydale note: I think this fic is The Trick is to Keep Breathing.] In my revival-era reading, I found DarlaBlack (@sigritandtheelves), whose work I really like for the way that it engages motherhood and reproductive trauma.  There are many others I’m forgetting.  What is your favorite of your own fics, X-Files and/or otherwise?
Hmmm.  Most of my work was set in the post-Requiem timeline and grappled with seasons 8 and 9.  I was dealing with my own infertility, so writing was a way for me both to grapple with my own experiences and try to make sense of canon, which made no sense.  (Like, when exactly was Scully doing IVF?)  I haven’t thought about my own work since I posted it to AO3 in 2018 or so but “Hypothetical” is one of the most meaningful for me. Do you think you'll ever write another X-Files story? Or dust off and post an oldie that for whatever reason never made it online?
I have a file on my computer called “Dana Scully Does IVF” that’s a more complete engagement of the above but I don’t imagine I’ll finish it.  I wouldn’t rule it out, though, particularly if there’s ever another movie.  The end of the reboot really made me mad….so I’d be dealing with that.  I did write a couple post-season 11 fics I intended to be part of a series but I gave up. What's the story behind your pen name? I honestly don’t remember, though I still use the yahoo email I created in that era and if anyone finds me from this interview please do reach out! Is there a place online (tumblr, twitter, AO3, etc.) where people can find you and/or your stories now? A long lost friend from that time had hosted a website with my work for a time; I couldn’t tell you where to find it. [Lilydale note: It’s here via Wayback.] But most of my work is still available at Gossamer (as far as I know) and I reposted at AO3 as a way to archive it.  There are a couple very short newer works there that I posted in the aftermath of season 11.

20 Fanfic Questions
Thanks to @randomfoggytiger for tagging me again. This was fun!
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
72. But not all of them are mine. I've been transcribing and posting some fics under a pseud, from Beauty and the Beast 4th Season hardcopy zines written by folks who've since passed on, just so that part of the fandom's history doesn't get lost.
2. What's your total AO3 words count?
1,133,574, but half of those are fics posted under my pseud. Nan Dibble was a writing fiend when it came to her Acquainted With the Night series. 💕
3. What fandoms do you write for?
The X-Files, Beauty and the Beast 1987, A Song of Ice and Fire.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Huh, interesting. They’re all ASOIAF/SanSan fics. In descending order: These Scars We Wear, The Calling, Beggar’s Banquet, Blessed Be (The Third Night) and Pas de Deux.
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Yes, as often as I can. I feel bad if I don’t. If you can take the time to leave a comment, I can take the time to thank you for it.
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Probably Pass You By and Incomplete, both in TXF ‘verse.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
I have a few. The Possibility of Being, LifeSongs and Upsidaisium (BATB 1987) and These Scars We Wear and The Calling (ASOIAF). Both these ‘verses seem to lend themselves to happier endings than TXF.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Nope.
9. Do you write smut. If so what kind?
I used to. I got bored with it. And when it started to feel as though it were expected of me, I lost interest. I still write steamy stuff, just not explicitly anymore. I'd rather you use your imagination instead of mine. 😉
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
Nope.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Yeah. Someone plagiarized one of my TXF fics back in the day and reposted it for The Nanny fandom. Who knew?
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Several, mostly the ASOIAF fics.
13. Have you ever cowritten a fic before?
Yes, once. I collaborated with Alanna Baker on a TXF fic called Doors.
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
Can’t narrow it down to one and you can’t make me. But the Big 3 are Mulder and Scully, Vincent and Diana, Sandor and Sansa. I do love me some big, tortured and damaged men in romantic relationships with stubborn redheaded women. What can I say? It's my kink.
Tumblr media
15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
The case file I started for TXF many, many moons ago. Sticks and Stones. It’s dead in the water.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Dialogue is the big one. I think my pacing is pretty good, and I have a feel for knowing what POV should be used when and where – and how to stick to that (I can't tolerate wandering POVs). I think I'm good at showing body language and tone in a way that's in-character and doesn't hit you over the head. Is it a strength to know when and how to ignore “common” writing rules? If so, I think I’m pretty good at that, too.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I tend to overthink things, which leads to too much exposition. I try to cut out as much of that as I can when doing final edits. The danger there lies in cutting too much, though. It’s a fine line I’m still learning to navigate. I generally suck at plotting anything unless the muse steps in and demands to take over. Now that I think about it, most of the very favorites of my fics are long and plot heavy, which makes no sense. I’m also not so great at beginnings, but my middles and ends are usually shiny. Is it a weakness to be The World's Slowest Writer? (On second thought, I think GRRM would beat me at that.) But yeah, takes me forever to get anything done. So that, as well.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I have, but I do it sparingly. I added a few short sentences in Italian for The Possibility of Being. Thank you Google.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Beauty and the Beast. 1990-ish or so. I've been at this for a while.
20. Favourite fic you've ever written?
Nope. Can’t do it. That’s like asking me to pick a favorite child. I love them all, for various reasons particular to each one.

5!
send me these questions please.
5. what’s your favorite muse of all time to play?
oh god. that’s such a hard question. at the time that i played them, each muse was my favorite? they were all my favorite when i played them for different reasons, too. morgan was the first character i ever played on a forum. i was probably about sixteen at the time. i played elle back then too.
but emily i only took up on this blog for the first time, and she’s ... obviously my favorite of this blog. i love her because of how many writing partners that writing her has brought me. also, getting to write a gay woman? good. i’ve had gay characters before, and bi characters, but this was the first blog that i ever really like, ... had a gay character in relationships and that’s been incredible. i never had romantic writing partners before for my lesbian characters.
annie smith? i love writing her because she makes people happy.
and kono. oh my god, kono. i had her on her own blog around three or four years ago, and writing her was incredible. it still is, but particularly around that time? i had a group of people i wrote with - the white collar fandom basically adopted kono - and she ended up being best friends with my friend ronan’s neal caffrey which was so much fun.
now. that leads me into one of the strongest muses i’ve ever, ever had. i could never write him unless i was able to hear every word he says. some other muses aren’t like that, but unless i deeply understood every single word peter burke from white collar said i couldn’t write him. but god, i adore him. writing him was just. something? magical? there was like, an aura to writing in that fandom. so shoutout to phoe, christina, and ronan for being the real mvps.
( and a brief shoutout as well to ronan in general for one of my other favorite muses, which is sara pezzini, but that was never in indie and just me and him writing, but sara? so good. )
i wrote clint barton back in 2012 too, but let’s ... not talk about 2012, thanks. A STRANGE, STRANGE TIME TO BE AN RP-ER.
right now i’m loving writing john doggett and cry over him on the daily, and i love my little cryptid msr child william scully. they’re definitely my favorites at the moment, and just. writing in the x-files fandom ( which is because of over here, writing with txf characters over here is what got me back into that fandom ) but like - @ taylor and emily, thank you for like, existing.
so of all time? i’d honestly have to say emily, sara, and peter. but right this second? definitely will and john.
