Baldurians are stupid, but I don't think they'd let a teenager be a magistrate. Nah, Astation was a grown ass man when he died at 39 (he died young! Just not as a child). The only reason this misconception peeves me juust a little bit is because

even if elves did age at a slower rate than humans did in the realms (in actuality they reach adulthood at the same rate, but elves reach maturity at like 100), just going off of bg3 and nothing else: the only person who treats Astarion like he's a child is Cazador. It's just another power play by him to demean Astarion. Convincing Astarion that's he's nothing but a disobedient child on top of being enslaved exacerbates his perceived lack of agency. And it's convincing because Cazador truly believes Astarion is nothing without him, but in reality he's no wiser than Astarion just because he's older. He's just an ass. When astarion ascends 15 minutes later he just becomes cazador 2. Chalk up any emotional immaturity to being enslaved for 200 years
