MY VALENTINE
Hello Friends,
Tomorrow is 14th February, a very special called ‘ Valentine Day’. Happy Valentine Day to all of you. I welcome you all to be a member of my club.
We all know that Valentine’s Day is named after a famous Saint. It started in Europe and is now celebrated throughout the world. Before February 14, a whole week starting from February 7 is devoted to different days such as Teddy Day, Rose Day, Chocolate Day, and others to keep the spirit of love going. Actually this day is a special day to celebrate love, friendship, and admiration.
It so happened that in the 1st week of February, my younger sister Bhavani was telling my mother that February 14th is Valentine Day and was of the view that the most important thing in life is loving oneself so she was planning to offer some beauty treatment programs to all beautiful women. she was to make some special videos for women. Since she is a nutritionist her perspective was that she will introduce some Valentine's Day offers so that ladies can pamper themselves and love themselves when they will see themselves becoming more beautiful. She had a wonderful concept and executed it well, we enjoyed, skincare and home facials for all types of skin to pamper ourselves physically through cream and internally through juices, for the special Valentine's Day.
Being tech-savvy my younger sister, Bhavani suggested our amma make videos and post them in Youtube. Amma was hesitant initially, but we all suggested that this is a nice idea of expressing self. Last year amma fell sick and was with us for quite some time. It has always been that whenever she is sick she is brought to Mumbai and stays with us till she becomes fine, then she wants to return to her sweet home, i.e. Nagpur. Bhavani also told amma that making videos will keep amma busy. The best thing about amma is that she is always ready to experiment. Bhavani taught her to make videos and now she makes and sends them to Bhavani regularly and Bhavani posts them on youtube. She has posted 26 videos so far and has 24 subscribers. What an incredible achievement at the age of 75+.

We told her to record a video for Valentine's Day. Her immediate response was that it is a Foreign concept. We said we want a video from you. She has recorded her video and according to her. Valentine's love can be for any sort of relationship i.e. husband-wife, mother-child, student-teacher, relatives, love should be there in all relationships, mother being a patriot she connected this feeling of love with love for the nation. Being a music lover ( Bollywood songs) this entire concept of valentine day was accompanied by a song…. Chaleja chaleja chaleja jahan pyar mile. We feel very lucky to have such an enterprising mother. We don’t have to go out for motivation and inspiration.

And now, I come to my takeaway on Valentine’s Day. I personally agree with Bhavani and feel that everything starts with ‘SELF’. We have to first love ourselves and accept ourselves, with all our strengths and weakness and then move on in life .
I strongly feel that though we may many relatives, friends, but the first thing we should do is to become our own friend. We always look out for relationships, but we need to look within. The only person who is going to stay with us till our last breadth is ‘SELF.’ Hence, we need to focus more on our inner self.
I want to ask myself on Valentine Day 2022 ……..
Let’s all join a club and be always happy and when we do this, every day will be a Valentine’s day for us.

There just seems to be something about eating cloned food that is “wrong”. Isn’t there somewhere down the line when these cloned animals and their byproducts may be found to cause some sort of health issue in the creatures that consume them (us?).

*know your food* We all know sugar is bad. But which is its healthiest alternative? Let’s dive in. Brown Sugar: Which is basically white sugar + molasses! Nutritionally, it’s almost identical to sugar. Has a similar GI shock and is just as calorie dense. So next time you want to add brown sugar to your coffee thinking it’s the healthier alternative, please remember that nothing is fundamentally different except for their taste/textures. Honey: If we keep the conversation limited to calories and GI, honey isn’t much better either. Sure it’s slightly less calorie dense because honey has water. But given its ‘healthy’ halo, many of us tend to over-indulge in it, and that quickly negates any benefits. But honey is famous more for its medicinal benefits. From better digestion to treating a cough, it is believed to relieve many problems. And scientifically speaking, it’s true, honey does have some micro-nutrients. But they are in such trace amounts, that to truly reap the benefits, one would have to consume it in large amounts. And doing so would defeat your fitness goals! Jaggery: By now you know the pattern. If it tastes like sugar, it has the calories of it. And, in this case, the GI too. However, nutritionally, jaggery takes the lead! If you replace all your sugar intake with jaggery (20-25gm/ day…lets say), you’re looking at 8% of your Magnesium and Potassium, and about 15% of your Iron requirements. That’s significant. Now remember, we are NOT suggesting you make jaggery your go-to medium to get magnesium and iron. Please. Have spinach. You can also opt for 14-hour fasting or 13-hour fasting and still get results.
