How to know where your Future Spouse was born with Astrology
Quick little story time to introduce this post: I was scrolling on instagram and suddenly I saw a reel about astrology. The astrologist on the reel was explaining how it was possible to see with the 10H where your Future Spouse was born/ come from, and explained in the reel. I'll give credits of course. But people in her comments seem to be confused still and she wasn't replying much. I thought of making a post about it and making it more clear! It is indeed a very interesting theory. In the reel she took the example of Angelina Jolie.
Credits of the theory goes to v.josa on Instagram.

°❀⋆.ೃ࿔*:・ Why the 10H?
ꕥ The 7H in astrology represents the Future Spouse. And in Numerology, the number 4 represents the home, foundation, productivity and sometimes wealth.
ꕥ So if we count from the 7H until the 10H, we find a gap of 4. So in this theory, the 10H will so represent where the Future Spouse of the native was born.
ꕥ This technique is to be used on Natal Charts only. I will explain the technique used in order for you to understand better. This technique is to be used to guess the country but also the key words of the city they were born in.
ꕥ This technique doesn't say where your FS lives right now! It is only a way to found out where your FS comes from.
°❀⋆.ೃ࿔*:・ The Technique
ʚïɞ In your 10H/MC, you will need to check the sign it is in. You will also check the degree of the house, but also the ruler, and what planets are in the 10H. We are only going to check planets! Sun to Pluto only!
ʚïɞ For the Ruler of your 10H, you will need to check where it is in your chart and under what sign.
ʚïɞ For the planets inside, it will tell us what kind of country and place your FS was born in. I'll give all the key words after the examples. For the planets, we will use the ones that are the closest to your MC! So if you have any planets that exactly conjuncts your MC it's perfect! Otherwise, just take the closest. The closest planets to take will need to be 10° apart maximum from the line of the MC!
ʚïɞ Unfortunately it is very hard to explain this technique just like that, so I will use different examples down below for you to understand better. I want to also add that everything is more about describing where your FS was born, and so everything will work with key words!
ʚïɞ Example: My MC is Cancer 23°. I will look at Cancer/ Moon keywords, Aquarius too because of the degree. I have Leo Sun and Cancer Mercury in 10H, so I'll look at Mercury & Leo/ Sun too.
°❀⋆.ೃ࿔*:・ Examples
ꕥ In the astrologer's example, she uses Angelina Jolie who has Aries MC in 17°. In her 10H, the planets closest to her MC are Jupiter (exactly conjunct her MC at 17° both) and Mars, which happens to be in the 9H. Aries MC is so ruled by Mars and the 17° is a Leo degree. She explains that Angelina's spouse would be born in a place related to royalty, fights could have happened there, and it can be a very known place too. Jupiter and the 9H (because Aries being ruled by Mars happens to be in the 9H) are both related to traveling, so many people could travel there, it's a very touristic place. Moreover, it can so mean marrying a foreigner. Her first husband, Jonny Lee Miller, was born in England, in a city named Kingston upon Thames. The country is indeed related to royalty and is very famous, but also the city. Originally, the city had another name which translated to "The King's Estate/ Manor". Jupiter is indeed a planet about optimism, success, luck, and generosity but it's also about abundance. Kingston upon Thames makes sense in this case, as it is the King's possession, abundance. Mars could also be so related to a man, it's also a planet about masculinity. The King marking his territory in this case, by calling this city "his" (happened a lot at that time) makes great sense.
ꕥ Jungkook has Libra MC 27°, ruled by Venus. In the 10H, he has Mars in it. But the planet which is the closest is Venus which is in his 9H. Jungkook's FS was born in a place that is related to femininity, anything related to beauty, art, beauty of the soul, sensuality, music, dancing, marriage too could be important in this culture, beauty, fashion, luxury too. The 27° could be related to a certain language, so this could be a place where people speak many different languages and have many different cultures. Many people could live there, and there could be a lot of moments in general. MC's ruler being in the 9H makes a lot more sense as to the fact his FS is a foreigner. Mars here could mean the place they were born in is full of movement, it could be a very active place, so perhaps his FS was born in a capital. Because of the Libra and Venus influence, his FS could be born in a place known for beauty, the way women dress, they way they do their make up, they way they move or act sensual, they could be from a country women are considered goddesses for example, or a place where there could be a lot of jewels for example, or a certain make up style, etc.
ꕥ My sister has Capricorn MC 10°, ruled by Saturn. In the 10H, she doesn't have much as planets, only asteroids. Otherwise, the Sun is very close to the MC and they actually conjunct each other. It seems like my sister's FS will be from a place people work hard, they can come from a wealthy place, a place people have a lot of belongings, though corruption can happen. They can come from a place where people are introvert, don't go talk to people, and they can come from a capital kind of city, big city, etc. An old country too. With the Sun being closed to the MC, the FS can come from a latin country, royalty, a place that is very popular, very visited, almost overrated. Since the ruler is Saturn, we need to look where it falls in her chart, and it falls in 4H in Cancer! And, as I was sure, they def come from the same country. FS comes from a country where traditions are important, and food may be part of it. FS could also come from a place near water, or the ocean, he could also come from the same city as her, or has been close to her this whole time, despite not knowing each other.
ꕥ In my case, I have Cancer MC 23°, ruled by Moon and Mercury being very closed to the MC. Indeed, my FS may not come from the same country as me, but the country he is from has a big interest in my country. His country is also known for being very traditional, and very close to their culture, they also are very into food and mostly their food, they hold a big pride into that. The 23° makes a lot of sense because he comes from a country that is known for being a futuristic place, a technology advanced kind of country, and with Mercury being close to the MC, they indeed have a very good and modernized transportation system. Oh and Cancer here could mean at some point I could have lived where he was born, because indeed that's what happened. This country also has a big idea about family and children in general (very traditional). The country isn't new but it's a recent touristic place, many people wanna go there now. Also it's a place where people are very into studying too. And I also wanna add, that the exact city he was born in is actually a place that is focused on new technology researches lmao. The MC is ruled by Moon, and my Moon is in my 8H in Gemini. I'll focus more on the 8H placement, indeed the country was hidden before, not very noticed until recently, and mostly it was a country that got a rebirth of some sort after war.

Pluto through zodiac signs in history ☄️
Hi my loves!💕 Today I bring something a litte bit different than usual, myfrustrated career was historian like my mum but end up being the witch of the family, so let's combine and explore today two of my favorite things: astrology and history. Pluto is now entering the sign of Aquarius after more than 200 years and we can see it's effects starting in society. Pluto takes between 12 to 32 years to transit a sign so it creates a generational and collective energy to deal with.
Pluto is the planet of transformation and renewal, it brings destruction to the old and useless and he does it in an explossive and dramatic way, so if you take a look through history with the "astrologer glasses" you can see how pluto works in every sign and his impact in every generation.
If you want to know more about Pluto archetype I'll leave a link to my post about it here
Pluto in Pisces- From 1798 to 1823
The old empires were falling down opening the road for the Napoleonic empire, a complete opposite form of goverment than what there was before. People were open to accept other people outside of prejudices, well... it was still 19th century, at least they weren't cutting heads anymore so let's give them a chance 🤷♀️. Socialism was implanted in Europe through these decades and started the Romantic artistc movement too, there were also huge progress in medicine and the study of nature. Edgar Allan Poe was born with this placement.
Pluto in Aries - From 1821 to 1852
Well... If you know a little about astrology you might expect this. This Pluto transit is the generation of pioneers and revolucionaries, through these years is easy to see a lot of independence movements, mostly in America like the independence of Mexico from Spain the 24th of february of 1824. In this season, regions under the control of unfair leaders started fighting for their rights and their recognition, they were looking for freedom from their opressive politics, on Europe started the spring of nations giving way to a series of riots and revolutions . There was a massive industrial developmentn and as a random fact there were also brutal vocanic explossions.
Pluto in Taurus - From 1853 to 1884
This was a time for a process of unify and stabilize, the people from this transit started to explode the resources that the earth had to provide us, the famous "gold fever" was very strong through these decades. The new politic movements that started with Pluto in Aries begins to solidify and get a more stable structure, there was an amazing economical growth and many agrarial and industrial reforms. There were also a lot of earthquakes that left terrible consequences like the one that happened in Japan on November 11th. These times also promoted materialism and the personal enjoyment, self benefit over the common good.
Pluto in Gemini - From 1882 to 1914
This was a generation for the intellect, new ways of communication and travel began to see the light. In terms of knowledge people wanted to look deeper in the meaning of things, the was a lot of new discoveries and progress about science and psychology. We also had the beginings of the sufragist movement looking for the right of women for education. There was a rise on realism artistic movement over the previous romantisism. In 1888 we had the unfamous Jack the ripper on England and his creepy cards to the police, I see this like the worst face of Pluto in Gemini, that terrible man rejoicing himself in his destructive behaviors (Plutonian) through cards making fun of the police (I always associate writting to Gemini or air signs in general). In general, through this Pluto's transit peopple gave more importance to intellect and rational fact over emotions.
Pluto in Cancer - From 1914 to 1939
The right of women to vote in Luxemburg or the vote for the universal sufragge in Belgium in 1919 are good examples for me of this placement. Cncer is Divine Femenine energy and through these decades the role of women in society is forced to be recognized, not just by the feminist movement but because they are needed for working after the loss of many men that were in World War I. There were also a lot of pacific movements like Ghandi and his hunger strike in India ( I don't like this man but at least he did something important avoiding armed conflicts). This was a time where family roots and homeland had a lot of importance in society and this gives also importance to nationalist political movements. Have in mind that people from this transit had very difficult circumstances, WW1 started on 1914 and WW2 started on 1939, many dictatorships started to form through these years.
Pluto in Leo - From 1937 to 1958
Obviously this Pluto's transit brought up a lot of megalomaniac dictators, charismatic leaders that looked like the answer to the problems of the population and ended up being extremly dangerous, starving for power and dominance over the weak and minorities. I'm not going to talk about the man we all know from WW2, I'm going to talk about the Spanish one that was terrible too. In Spain was imposed franco regime, this man orchestrated a coup d`état (<-sorry that was what google translator told me) that led to a civil war where he told to kill a lot of people that were againts him through that war and when he was ruling the country (search about Federico Garcia Lorca, he was an incredible writer with an awesome future, he was killed by Franco´s order). He was the dictator of Spain for a lot of years, he heelped Mossolini and Hitler on some ocasions, as a random fact, some says that when Hitler met Franco he said he would do anything to never spend again a minute with Franco. To end up this transit right lets say that we also had a lot of iconic stars like Marilyn or Elvis, they are literal icons even today.
Pluto in Virgo - From 1956 to 1972
Like Virgo always does, Pluto in this sign tried to clean out the disasters of it's previous transit and put a little order to the chaos. On this transit appeared a lot of reforms and remodeling to clear up the situation and see what really works for population, after years of fear and chaos people were yearning for some social order and peace. The bad part about this... segregation and the start of cold war. Goverments tried to recollect information to use it againts other goverments, the race for the space and all the mechanichal improvements, but also there was a change in the population`s habits giving more importance to health and diet, recognizing that tools and resources that everybody used had toxic or harmful components, for many people with this placement bad aspected I've seen they have a weird but effective way of taking care of their body. Also there was a rise for careers related to health or mechanics through these years.
Pluto in Libra - From 1971 to 1984
This was a time for recognizing human rights and fight againts unjustice, society was involved in too many conflicts and this generation tried to redirect the focus to peace and diplomacy. New agreements related to marriage and divorce, in some countries divorce was illegal, so this also helped to break some toxic traits related to the expectations about marriage, in general there were new ways to understand realtionships. There was also a revalorization of art and recognition to some artist that were left aside. People started to unify as a collective to fight against the unfair and began to give more importance to equal rights, also to the beauty of nature like in Sempember of 1978, that year Quito, the capital of Ecuador became the first place to be into the World heritage.
Pluto in Scorpio - From 1983 to 1995
Our millennial generation! We have a lot to thank to this generation tbh. This Pluto transit appeared to break with many society taboos, making people emphathize with the ones who didn't had a voice before. In this transit people started to loose fear about death and sex, mostly for women who had been repressed the years before. Of course, there were sexual transmitions diseases but in this time people started to give it the proper importance to these kind of issues. Pluto is related to nuclear energy and in 1986 the world had to see Chernobyl and it's disastrous consequences, but remember too that many countries on those decades were making nuclear tests that also left terrible ressults for humanity. (if you like to there's a documentary on Netflix called 'dark tourist', in one of the episodes they go to a lake made out of an atomic explosion). As a random fact, through this transit appeared a lot of serial killers with sexual overtones.
Pluto in Sagittarius - From 1995 to 2008
How are you my fellows Sag Plutos? This transit came with massive existencial crisis where people stopped believing what others said it was good or bad, even more if that good or bad was written thousands of years ago. This generation learned to live life by their own philosophy instead of following religious beliefs, experience as a way of understanding. People from this generation are more open and prone to look for answers in different places because of the dissapointment with the previous beliefs systems. Through these years we can also see a decline in the main religions, people are not willing anymore to accept other's imposed truths without looking for the logic, but we have to say that it also brought religious radicalism. People from this generation are more open to new ways of experience spirituality and give human existence a meaning, this generation is open to things like meditation, astrology, chakras... The worst aspect of this transit would be that everyone wants to be heard but just a little are willing to listen.
Pluto in Capricorn - From 2008 to 2023
Well, this transit started hard with the global economical crisis of 2008, scandals about corruption in politics and banks, our sight of authority figures is not the same as before because all these scandals and the ones in the past, basicaly we don't fully trust our authority figures. People through this transit got a little obsessed about power, money and their social position but it also brought a lot of new jobs and ways of earning money and fame never seen before. Have you noticed how extremes has politics become lately? Also, public cancellations could have something to do with this transit? Like cancelling, somehow destroying (pluto) someone publicly ( Cap also rules our public image) Idk, let me know what you think about this because Capricorn is complex 🤔. Something curious about this placement is that people are trying to be their own bosses and work for themselves instead of working for others.
Pluto in Aquarius - From 1778 to 1798 (2023 to 2044 aprox)
Pluto is now on Aquarius, the last time it was there we had the French revolution, this year we have riots in France again. French revolution started because of unjustice and inequality, while the royalty were surrounded by luxury normal people were struggling to supply their basic needs, maybe a little like now?. Pluto also entered Aquarius in 2020 and we had a global crisis too. The good thing about this transit was that the century of the lights started with it, Pluto in Aquarius helped to develop critical sense and thinking, the circumstances made them focus on their unfair reality and how they could improve it for the common good. On 1791 Olympe de Gouges published the declaration of the rights of women as a response to the declaration of the right of men on 1789, defying the male supremacy of that time (she was a Taurus sun btw). We know what happened then, we'll see what it has for us now.
Please, feel free to add any other historic event and their pluto's transit, I would love to know what you think.
Let me know if you would like to know more about long transit planets and its impact in society through history.
Thank you

Book Blurb:
My name has only been whispered, heretofore…
England, 1591. Rose Rushe’s passion for life runs deep—she loves mead and music, meddles with astrology, and laughs at her mother’s warnings to guard her reputation. When Rose’s father dies and a noble accuses her and her dear friend Cecely of witchcraft, they flee to the household of respected alchemists in London. But as their bond deepens, their sanctuary begins to feel more like a cage. To escape, they turn to the occult, secretly casting charms and selling astrological advice in the hopes of building a life together. This thriving underground business leads Rose to fair young noble Henry and playwright Will Shakespeare, and so begins a brief, tempestuous, and powerful romance—one filled with secret longings and deep betrayals.
In this world of dazzling masques and decadent feasts, where the stars decide futures, Rose will write her own fate instead.
From the author of The Book of Gothel comes the lush, magical story behind Shakespeare's sonnets, as told by one of his most famous subjects—the incendiary and mysterious Dark Lady.
Review:
Being a woman in 1591 England is not easy, especially when you have a love of drink, music, and are being accused of witchcraft.... and end up in a relationship with William Shakespeare. Rose has always been a free spirit, someone who loves drinking and playing music, who enjoys meddling with astrology and not taking heed of her mother's warning. Yet when her father dies and a noble accuses Rose and her best friend Cecely of witchcraft they must both flee to London. Yet as they begin a new business in London selling astrological advice and casting secret charms.... Rose meets a noble named Henry and playwright named William Shakespeare and enters into a brief and powerful romance filled with betrayal. This started off really fun but kind of lost me by the end. I just found myself not as invested and drifting off while reading this. I initially was really excited about this but I guess it just didn't really hook me in the end and I would say that it was a case of "it's me not you". I do think if you like stories involving Shakespeare and a bit of alternative history or inspired by narratives, this could be for you!

Alchemy in the Bible.....
In this thy book, such will there nothing see, As in the Bible some can find out alchemy. - John Donne Opened magic book with space for copy text
A few months ago, I had written a popular article about Gnostic Bible Verses that many of you enjoyed. Some of you were not aware that there are many Gnostic teachings in the bible that we modern followers of Gnosis can utilize for our own benefit.
In this article, I would like to list some of the teachings on alchemy that I have found in the bible. Alchemy is the science of mastering the chemical energies of our minds and bodies in order to operate at the most effective optimum level as a human. A science, that can literally transform our entire bodies and energies. A science, that can not only prevent and cure disease, but also improve the quality and prolong our lives.
Alchemy and Jesus An example of alchemy in the bible, would be when Jesus fasted for forty days and nights in the Judaean Desert after being baptized . What Jesus was doing in the desert, was alchemy in the form of solitude, prayer, and fasting. By going into the desert for 40 days and 40 nights, Jesus was tempted by the devil, but he was successfully able to cleanse these impure thoughts, not only in his mind, but also impurities from his body. What this bible passage is describing, is the alchemical transformation of his whole chemical make up, into a new heavenly one made of the stars. The ascension of Jesus to heaven then occurs 40 days after the Resurrection (Acts 1:3). As Jesus had said In Revelation 22:16, he unmistakably identifies Himself as the morning star.
Comparing alchemy and the bible is nothing new, but a revival of the hidden biblical teachings that many people have interpreted since the early beginnings of Christianity and especially during the Renaissance. Much of the alchemical writings of these biblical scholars had went underground during the Renaissance, when the Church of England had banned many of these teachings.
One of the most famous interpreters of the bible during this time was Paracelsus. Paracelsus (born Philippus Aureolus Theophrastus Bombastus von Hohenheim, 11 November or 17 December 1493 – 24 September 1541) was a German-Swiss Renaissance physician, botanist, alchemist, astrologer, and general occultist. He founded the discipline of toxicology and modern psychology, that often also credits him for being the first to note that some diseases are rooted in psychological illness. Paracelsus had also used the teachings of the bible and science to help interpret some of his alchemical teachings.
Paracelsus was a true man of God, who was also a Gnostic that walked the walk, and talked the talk. He was known as a paracelsus fiercely independent thinker whose thoughts and teachings went against the status quo of the medical and religious establishments. Paracelsus was openly defiant against mainstream medicine because his ideas were very different from that of his medical colleagues. And we all know what happens when someone goes against the establishment... They are simply taken down and outcast from the mainstream, as it was in the case of Paracelsus.
Here is an example of one of these incidents that Paracelsus had to face after he had actually cured a prominent ecclesiastic of gout; then when he demanded a fee for his services, he was accused of necromancy, sorcery, and drunkenness.
After Paracelsus had been lecturing in the University of Basel for about two years he was called to a prominent ecclesiastic who was suffering from the pangs of gout. Paracelsus agreed to cure the Bible into German. Priests and doctors before his sufferer for 100 florins, and produced immediate relief by the administration of "laudanum pills," probably similar to our laudanum. He then demanded his fee, which was refused by the prudent ecclesiastic, and the matter was finally taken into the courts.
The defendant not only declined to pay the bill, but publicly accused Paracelsus of necromancy, sorcery, and drunkenness. After hearing the case the court decided in favor of the priest, whereupon the professor issued a violent and abusive manifesto against the judge. This did not go well in the little republic of Switzerland, and led to the inauguration of steps to visit upon the offender condign punishment for contempt of court. The professor having got wind of this fled with great precipitation, and thus sacrificed his professorship and his position as city physician.
Isaac Newton had also written occult works that had explored chronology, alchemy, and Biblical interpretation (especially of the Apocalypse). As a Bible scholar, Newton was initially interested in the sacred geometry of Solomon's Temple, such as golden sections, conic sections, spirals, orthographic projection, and other harmonious constructions, but he also believed that the dimensions and proportions represented more. He noted that the temple's measurements given in the Bible are mathematical problems, related to solutions for \pi and the volume of a hemisphere, V = (2/3)\pi r^3, and in a larger sense that they were references to the size of the Earth and man's place and proportion to it. (Issac Newton Sourced from Wikipedia)
In 1675 Newton annotated a copy of Manna - a disquisition of the nature of alchemy, an anonymous treatise which had been given to him by his fellow scholar Ezekiel Foxcroft. In his annotation Newton reflected upon his reasons for examining Solomon's Temple by writing:This philosophy, both speculative and active, is not only to be found in the volume of nature, but also in the sacred scriptures, as in Genesis, Job, Psalms, Isaiah and others. In the knowledge of this philosophy, God made Solomon the greatest philosopher in the world.
Carl Jung Alchemist The infamous Swiss Gnostic, psychiatrist and psychotherapist, Carl Jung had written about these scientific connections between alchemy and Christianity. One such example, is when Jung had demonstrated that the philosopher's stone and the image of Christ had mirror like qualities between alchemy and Christianity themselves. He had said, "Alchemy stands in a compensatory relationship to mainstream Christianity, rather like a dream does to the conscious attitudes of the dreamer. The Stone of alchemy is in many respects the stone rejected by the builders of Christian culture, demanding recognition and reincorporation into the building itself".
Below are some examples of alchemy that can be found in the bible. The interpretation of each verse must be done by each one of us if we are able to tap into these secret mysteries of life.
Psalms 12:6 - The words of the LORD [are] pure words: [as] silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.
Proverbs 27:21 - [As] the fining pot for silver, and the furnace for gold; so [is] a man to his praise.
Revelation 3:18 - I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and [that] the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.
1 John 3:1-24 - Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
First Epistle John Chapter 5:21 Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.
Timothy Chapter 1:5 Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned: and 6 From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling;
Romans 12:1-21 - I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, [which is] your reasonable service.
Exodus 4:1-31 - And Moses answered and said, But, behold, they will not believe me, nor hearken unto my voice: for they will say, The LORD hath not appeared unto thee.
Genesis 2:22 - And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.
Genesis 2:7 - And the LORD God formed man [of] the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
Revelation 2:17 - He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth [it].
Matthew 4:1-25 - Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.
Psalms 106:22 - Wondrous works in the land of Ham, [and] terrible things by the Red sea.
Exodus 32:19-20 - And it came to pass, as soon as he came nigh unto the camp, that he saw the calf, and the dancing: and Moses' anger waxed hot, and he cast the tables out of his hands, and brake them beneath the mount.
Exodus 7:17 - Thus saith the LORD, In this thou shalt know that I [am] the LORD: behold, I will smite with the rod that [is] in mine hand upon the waters which [are] in the river, and they shall be turned to blood.
Mark 8:36 - For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

Thomas Barrow & Richard Ellis, and eclipses as a harbringer of change
Everything related to the moon is automatically related to Richard Ellis, right?
Eclipse is defined as an obscuring of the light from one celestial body by the passage of another between it and the observer or between it and its source of illumination. Here we will discuss lunar and solar eclipses with astrological meanings and real-life eclipses that happened closely to canon.
An eclipse of the sun happens when the moon moves between sun and earth, blocking out the sun's rays and casting a shadow on parts of earth. Total eclipse happens when the moon covers the sun completely. Lunar eclipses happen when earth positions itself between the sun and the moon, casting a shadow across the moon's surface.
For Barris Winter Fest's this week's theme, change and new beginnings ✨️ @barris-event-blog
The Sun & The Moon 🌙
Sun's path is the unifying symbol in astrology, since the other planets orbit around it. The sun is therefore related to what is ideal, fixed, relatively permanent and unchanging. It's also related to power, to kings and queens, to powerful or famous people, to rulership and governance. It also has been associated with ambition and purpose, and it represents clarity and direction.
In contrast to the symbolism of the sun, the moon has traditionally been more closely related to the realm of impermanence, as it is constantly waxing and waning. As servants, Thomas and Richard work in an industry of the past, but the world around them is changing constantly. Like Richard says it, "Fifty years ago, who'd have thought man could fly?".
The moon's method of illumination is more subtle, relying on reflected light. Indeed, the moon symbolizes things such as our inner feelings and desires, our shadow self, and things that we are yet to discover about ourselves. "When you're like me, Mr Carson, you have to read the signs as best you can because no one dares speak out" & "You just need to be a bit more circumspect in future, Mr Barrow".
Solar Eclipse 🌝
With all of this in mind – in an eclipse, the moon covers the sun. The moon, within all of its own symbolism, represents Thomas and Richard's relationship (the crescent fob as a promise of seeing each other again). The sun represents the status quo: Richard having a stable position requiring some kind of ambition to acquire and Thomas having his life center around serving the ruling class. But when they met, the moon covered the rational sun. Richard helped to sabotage the royal visit and Thomas slammed the door on an earl's face, both betraying the rich and famous. "It feels good to be two ordinary blokes".
The sun is also sometimes seen as a ruler judging us from above, and shadows (outside their many negative meanings) are seen as protection. What happens in the shadows is Turton's and kisses hidden in plain sight.
Eclipses are known for being major harbingers of change and often align with exciting new beginnings and twists of fate. Total solar eclipses are a rare event, but sometimes all the celestial bodies are aligned for true love to happen, perhaps?
June 29th, 1927 🌌
On June 29th, 1927, a total solar eclipse was visible from the British mainland soil for the first time in 203 years. R.A. Marriott describes: It caused nationwide excitement which included mass population movement to the towns, villages, moorlands and offshore waters of Wales and the North of England, and severely tested the country’s transport and communication systems.
Blue line displays maximum eclipse path. In York, 99.40% of the sun was covered at 5:24 in the morning. Downton Abbey would have experienced almost a total eclipse.
Railway companies encouraged people to travel to experience the eclipse. Though anyone who travelled might have ended disappointed. Totality only lasted 23 seconds, and very few were lucky too see it because of the cloudy weather. Sylvia Seeley writes:
The narrow belt of totality, only about 28 miles wide, swept accross England in a line to include parts of North Wales, Lancashire and Yorkshire. Thousands upon thousands of spectators were gathered at various centres in the line of totality, from one side of England to another, only to be greeted on the great day with a drenching and hopeless dawn of impenetrable clouds.
The royal visit is set on July 20th–22nd, 1927*. So around a month before Thomas and Richard met, a rare cosmic event symbolising change and new beginnings took place. 💖 I would assume at least some of the residents of Downton Abbey got out of bed early enough to stand outside in dark and rain. Did Thomas bother, I don't know. Richard probably was still in London, experiencing much the same. Or maybe he was already on the Yorkshire tour, with some Giggleswick luck? The summer of 1927 is one of the rainiest on the record, by the way. Since it was perfectly sunny for the parade in Downton, I'd expect the clouds cleared everywhere the king step foot in.
Wet and depressing athmosphere also mentioned in the final page of Dorothy L. Sayers' 1927 novel Unnatural Death:
As the gate clanged open to let them out, they stepped into a wan and awful darkness. The June day had risen long ago, but only a pale and yellowish gleam lit the half-deserted streets. And it was bitterly cold and raining.
“What is the matter with the day?” said Wimsey. “Is the world coming to an end?”
“No,” said Parker, “it is the eclipse.”
*This is debatable, I think! The month July as far as I know comes from Edith's line about giving birth in March. It wouldn't be a big stretch to think the movie was actually set in June. I do like the eclipse better as an omen for a twist of fate, but if you'd like to think them going eclipse gazing right after the visit, it's technically possible!
Dancing Partners 🌔
If you had asked me just a few days ago, which one, Thomas or Richard, I would associate with the sun, I would've said Richard. But I've got it all wrong! Obviously the guy standing in a dark street talking about moonbeam fairies is the moon.
Some of the the Sun's traits, like positivity and confidence, I would hand over to Richard. But other than that, he reminds me of the moon. The moon is hidden, and then it isn't. Slowly we see more of it, one part coming out of the shadow after another, but then it starts disappearing again, and we doubt if we ever knew him at all. He can quite literally fool you with his voice, and seems different every time you look at him, adapting into every moment gracefully. As said before, the sun represents clarity. I wouldn't call Richard a lunatic, but his actions may seem... more on the side of the moon, sometimes.
Thomas might not always be the sense of reason either, but he has some of the sun's traits. (And he likes the sun!). In the movie, unlike the subtle moon, he says openly what he means with an expressive face. Mr Ellis – the Moon – is certainly more circumspect (or so he says!). The sun is symbolic of action and intesity, while the moon is of passivity and thought. Our Sun's slamming doors and dancing and getting upset about it, but both times Richard's been there to listen and mysteriously solve things.
Sun and moon being in love relies on the concept of opposites attracting, and I actually see Thomas and Richard as quite similar. And I do keep seeing Richard as the sun too. (With many moon-like qualities in Thomas as well). I'd love to hear your insights if you have them!
The sun and the moon being romantic partners is not my idea. Legend says that they have always been in love, but that they could never be together, because the moon rises at sunset and the sun just at dawn. Eclipse was created as proof that there is no impossible love. In 1844, Jean Jacques Grandville published a drawing of the sun and the moon kissing during an eclipse. A french film from 1907 with sexual themes shows a romantic encounter between the sun and the moon during an eclipse. Some have seen it as an early example as homosexuality in film.
And not to get too meta, but! The most important thing when we think of the relationship of sun and moon is that the moon reflects the light of the sun. We know only very little of Richard, and so many of our own headcanons rely on what we think would be fitting or interesting for Thomas. Thus we only see the moon in the sun's light.
Lunar Eclipse 🌚
In astrology, the moon is the banner bearer for things that come to be and pass away. Canonically speaking, Thomas' and Richard's relationship didn't last a very long time. It is sad, but I think something positive I got from the break-up it's maybe the thought that good things don't have to be forever. Like a total eclipse happens rarely and doesn't last a long time, it can be a life-changing moment.
While solar eclipses often bring new beginnings, lunar eclipses are more likely to bring about sudden endings, conclusions, or powerful changes of heart. That way we could think solar eclipse as a symbol for the start and a lunar eclipse as the end (or an unpermanent distruption) of their relationship.
Lunar eclipse is less of a spectacular event too. The moon either darkens or turns reddish or brown colour. They can be viewed by anyone on the night side of the earth and they can last nearly two hours, so they aren't as rare as solar eclipses. On average, a total lunar eclipse can be seen from any given location every 2.5 years.
Total lunar eclipses happened four times in a row on June 15th, 1927; December 8th, 1927; June 3rd, 1928 and November 27th, 1928. (Total lunar eclipses often happen in a row. Before this group, the latest was in 1924 and the next in 1931). Only the second one, December 8th, was visible from the UK, and it was a blood moon (the moon turns red).
Assuming The New Era takes place in '28, these happened around the start and end of Richard and Thomas' relationship. Eclipses are always about change. June 1927 – November 1928 is a period of huge change in Thomas' life, all about self-discovery and finding himself, which the moon is related to.
Until We Meet Again 🌜
A large partial solar eclipse was visible from Los Angeles in 1930. This newspaper article from California which I thought was funnily fitting.
And if that prompted to change his mind or if he never went, there were plenty of chances to go eclipse-gazing with Richard later. In York, June 30th, 1954, 80% of the sun was covered, October 2nd, 1959, 20% of the sun was covered, and February 15th, 1961, 90% of the sun was covered.

Introducing Signe Hawklord
Basics:
Full Name: Signe Liv Hawklord
Spoken Name: Signe
Name Meaning: Signe, old norse meaning new victory. Liv old norse name meaning life
Age: 23
Pronouns: She/Her
Gender: Woman
Nationality: Swedish, mother from England, currently lives in Jorvik
Starsign: Gemini
Background:
Born in Sweden as the third child in the rocky marriage of famous swedish rockstar Erik Strömson and british entreprenour Bridget Hawklord. Signe grew up in Stockholm city getting anything her child mind could think of wanting. But not from her parents, her father spent more time on tour and in the arms of whichever current girlfriend he was cheating on her mother with. Bridget on the other hand spent nearly every waking moment away from home, her very successful tech company taking up most of her time. This meant that Signe grew up worshipping her two older brothers, Thomas and Robert, whey where the only two people in the world, that she felt cared about her. But her childhood was not all gray and gloom, summer and winter breaks would be spent in at her maternal grandparents grand house on the english countryside. Here she learned how to ride and care for horses on her grandfathers thoroughbred stud farm. The moment Signe finished the Swedish gymnasium she broke out and moved to New york, to get as far away from her now very strained relationship with her parents as possible. There, she was supposed to study physics and astrology, which she did, but she also spent every weekend drunk out of her mind in a club bathroom.
Eventually, Signes childhood rebel was satiated. She went on to graduate university with a liver more damaged than when she arrived and more than a few life lessons learned. Her passion for horses, which had been nearly forgotten in her years in the New york youths high society, rekindeled when she returned to work at her grandparents farm for a year, until she one day received a job offer, from the AAE. The astronomical and archaeological society offered her a spot as one of their scientists studying the sudden increase of curious astronomical events currently happening over the small island of Jorvik. Suprised by the offer, she accepted and four months later she was unpacking boxes in her appartement by Aideens plaza.
Ariving on Jorvik, Signe easily setteled into the islands rythm. Work was brilliant and the celestial events, unlike anything she ever seen before and facinating to study. Soon she found a horse unlike any other she’d ever met before. The stallion Cass, a great bronze-coloured andalusian, called to her soul from Jorvik stables. Unbeknownst to her, four other horses called out to their soulriders at the same time. About a year after her relocation to Jorvik, when the stars had calmed down, she one night woke up, with strange symbols blazing out white light on her back and and a tiny blue squirrel perching on her windowsill.
If you made it this far, thank you! This is the backstory of my oc Signe Hawklord and turned out to be way longer than i expected haha. She has in some way or other been marinating in my brain since i started playing the game about 10(!) years ago and now here she is! I might make a shorter bulletpoint post later, but for now i’m happy to introduce her like this!

Alien Sightings 101: A History of Unexplained Encounters
Embark on an otherworldly journey as you explore the captivating history of unexplained encounters with extraterrestrial beings in "Alien Sightings: A History of Unexplained Encounters." From the enigma of Area 51 to the mysterious phenomenon of crop circles, this article delves into the depths of our fascination with the unexplained. With evidence ranging from eyewitness testimony to declassified government files, you'll uncover the secrets of unidentified spacecraft, interstellar communication, and possible alien infiltration. Brace yourself for an expedition into the unknown as we unravel the truth behind these extraordinary encounters. Alien Sightings: A History of Unexplained Encounters Discover the App That's Got Everyone Talking Pre-Modern Era Throughout history, there have been numerous accounts of encounters with beings from outer space. These encounters and sightings can be traced back to ancient texts and mythology. In these texts, there are mentions of celestial beings and otherworldly creatures, sparking curiosity and fascination among believers and skeptics alike. In the Medieval period, there were also accounts of strange occurrences and encounters with unidentified flying objects. These accounts often blended with religious and supernatural beliefs, making them a subject of mystery and speculation. The Modern UFO Era The modern era of UFO sightings can be considered to have begun with the infamous Roswell Incident in 1947. In this incident, an unidentified craft crashed in Roswell, New Mexico, sparking widespread interest in the possibility of extraterrestrial life. Despite the official explanation being a weather balloon, many eyewitnesses and conspiracy theorists maintain that it was an alien spacecraft. Following Roswell, there were a series of sightings reported by civilians and military personnel, including the Kenneth Arnold sightings. Arnold, a pilot, claimed to have witnessed a formation of nine crescent-shaped objects flying over Mount Rainier in 1947. This sighting, along with many others, fueled the growing interest in UFOs and led to the establishment of Project Blue Book by the United States Air Force in 1952. This image is property of pixabay.com. See Why The Biorhythm is Better Than Your Average Astrology Guide Notable Encounters Among the many alien encounters reported, there are a few that stand out due to their extraordinary circumstances and the credibility of the witnesses. One such encounter is the Barney and Betty Hill abduction in 1961. The Hills claimed to have been abducted by extraterrestrial beings while driving through New Hampshire. Their detailed accounts of the abduction and the subsequent hypnosis sessions have made this case one of the most famous in UFO history. Another notable incident is the Phoenix Lights incident in 1997. Thousands of witnesses reported seeing a formation of lights in a V-shape moving across the night sky in Phoenix, Arizona. The lights were described as massive and silent, captivating the attention of both believers and skeptics. In 1980, the Rendlesham Forest incident took place in Suffolk, England. This incident involved multiple military personnel who witnessed the landing of a craft in the forest. The encounter was accompanied by strange lights and radiation readings, leaving witnesses puzzled and drawing international attention. Government Involvement Government involvement and secrecy have always been a subject of debate when it comes to UFO sightings and encounters. One of the most notorious places associated with extraterrestrial activity is Area 51 in Nevada. This highly classified military base has long been the center of conspiracy theories and speculation regarding the existence and testing of advanced alien technology. Over the years, declassified documents have shed some light on the government's interest and investigation into UFO sightings. In 2017, the United States government released previously classified documents related to the investigation of unidentified aerial phenomena. These documents provided a glimpse into the government's efforts to determine the nature and origin of these sightings. However, the release of documents and government involvement has also been met with accusations of cover-ups and censorship, further fueling the belief in a larger conspiracy to conceal the truth about extraterrestrial encounters. This image is property of pixabay.com. How This App is Changing The Way We Predict The Future Scientific Perspectives Scientists have long been intrigued by the possibility of extraterrestrial life. The Drake Equation, proposed by Dr. Frank Drake in 1961, attempts to estimate the number of technologically advanced civilizations in the galaxy. By considering factors such as the rate of star formation and the likelihood of planets capable of supporting life, the equation indicates that there may indeed be a significant number of alien civilizations in the universe. However, the Fermi Paradox poses a thought-provoking question: if there are so many possible extraterrestrial civilizations, why have we not detected or made contact with any of them? This paradox highlights the gap between the potential existence of alien life and the absence of conclusive evidence. UFO Hoaxes and Misinterpretations While many sightings and encounters have genuine and unexplained origins, there have also been instances of hoaxes and misinterpretations. Crop circles, for example, have often been attributed to extraterrestrial activity. However, extensive research and investigations have revealed that many crop circles are man-made, created as elaborate pranks or artistic expressions. During World War II, pilots reported seeing unusual phenomena called "foo fighters." These glowing balls of light were initially thought to be enemy aircraft or secret weapons. However, further investigation revealed that they were likely misidentified natural phenomena such as ball lightning or St. Elmo's fire. This image is property of pixabay.com. Extraterrestrial Life and Communication The Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) has been actively scanning the skies for signals that may indicate the presence of intelligent extraterrestrial life. This scientific endeavor utilizes advanced technology, including radio telescopes, in the hopes of detecting radio signals from alien civilizations. Various theories exist on how aliens might communicate with us if they were attempting to make contact. One theory suggests that they may use a form of communication we have yet to decipher, such as advanced mathematics or other non-verbal means. Telepathy and the exchange of information through energy or consciousness are also proposed as potential methods of communication. Alien Abduction Phenomenon The phenomenon of alien abductions has captured the imagination of believers and skeptics alike. Famous cases such as the Barney and Betty Hill abduction have fueled speculation about the motives and methods of extraterrestrial beings. Theories range from scientific explanations involving sleep paralysis and false memories to more supernatural interpretations involving hybridization programs and interdimensional beings. Contemporary Sightings and Evidence With the widespread use of smartphones and the advancements in technology, there has been a surge in photographic and video evidence claiming to capture UFO sightings. While skeptics argue that most of this evidence can be easily explained as misidentified aircraft or natural phenomena, believers argue that the sheer quantity of sightings cannot be dismissed entirely. Eyewitness testimonies also continue to play a significant role in the study of UFOs. These personal accounts, often accompanied by detailed descriptions and emotional experiences, add a human element to the phenomenon and highlight the impact of these encounters on individuals. Furthermore, there have been various initiatives calling for government disclosure of classified information related to UFOs. Believers hope that such initiatives will lead to a greater understanding of the phenomenon and potentially confirm the existence of extraterrestrial visitations. The Future of Alien Sightings As technology and research continue to advance, there is hope that we may witness groundbreaking discoveries and revelations in the field of alien sightings. Advancements in telescopes and space exploration may provide us with unprecedented opportunities to study and understand the universe. Possible discoveries could include the detection of microbial life on other planets or the identification of intelligent signals from distant star systems. 𝓫𝓲𝓸𝓰𝓻𝓪𝓹𝓱𝔂
being the first born daughter of francesca albrecht, the editor in chief of vogue, and sebastian hawker, an american business magnate, computer scientist and internet entrepreneur, brooke grew up being the absolute apple of her mother's eye.
despite their upper class status, brooke and her siblings grew up fairly normal, their parents always wanting to keep them humble and grounded and most importantly, hard working. they weren’t just handed the money they made, they earned it, and they wanted their children to do the same.
unlike her other siblings who went in different directions, brooke had always been glued to their mother’s side. from a little girl she was obsessed with the fashion world, often seen strolling hand and hand with francesca into the british vogue offices dressed to the nines while francesca worked on various projects as their creative director.
even as a little girl, she was known for being even more brutal than her mother, making sure her opinions were heard loud and clear and that everything was nothing short of perfection. and while most around the office found the demanding little girl funny, francesca realized that her daughter had true talent and an eye for fashion.
she attended private school and when college came around, she attended a year at central saint martins college of art and design, the most famous fashion school in the uk, and majored in fashion communications.
however, after a year there, her mother was offered the editor in chief position at vogue and when the opportunity to move to the states arose, brooke followed along with her family.
just because her mother was the editor of vogue, however, didn’t mean that brooke was simply going to be handed a career on a silver platter. her mother encouraged her to continue her studies and brooke made her headquarters in new york city, attending the fashion institute of technology.
living on her own in new york city thrust brooke into a new spotlight that she had never been in before. her family was famously private, but brooke began hanging out in the new york social scene of the fashion world - partying with models, photographers, designers and more and eventually, she became new york city’s biggest it-girl, much to the dismay of her father and especially, her mother.
however, brooke saw this as an opportunity. the world was obsessed with everything she was wearing, where she was eating, where she was partying, quite literally every aspect of her life, so, at just 20 years old, she headed to the mtv headquarters in new york city and pitched them an idea for a show, inspired by the life of her and her friends in new york city.
thus, in 2009, ‘soho’ premiered. (basically the new york version of ‘the hills’) and brooke and her friendd catapulted into stardom - the world becoming obsessed with the groups fights, make-ups and break-ups and the way they lived their life every day in new york city. (there’s a bunch of wcs on my wanted page for her that goes more into the dynamics of her friends!!)
for five years, her life revolved around the show and after five seasons, she was absolutely mentally drained - sick and tired of everything she said and did being under a microscope. so, she left the show, that only lasted for one more season without her,, and moved to los angeles where her family was.
from 2012-2017, she lived pretty off the radar (very mary kate and ashley kind of vibes) and started her very own fashion brand called ‘the echelon’ and poured all of her energy into making that a success. she hired the best designers in the world and the most sought after team of creatives and after years of hard work and dedication, it became one of the most sought after brands in the industry.
however, in 2017, her world got shaken up when her father was under fbi investigation, which caused the split of her parents, and her sister, lily was in a career changing car accident.
she spent the next couple of years taking a step back from her line and focusing on being there for her sister and mother, angry with her father for doing this to the family.
her and her mother had been on the outs for years, francesca being completely against the reality tv direction that her daughter had gone into, but seeing how she stepped up for the family truly mended that gap between them and in 2020, francesca named brooke the creative director of vogue.
she’s come a long way from that party girl in new york city and brooke takes her role and her job incredibly seriously. she sold her fashion brand to lvhm for ten billion dollars, which was a record acquisition, and now eat, sleeps and breathes vogue.
she, like she was as a child, is once again glued to her mother’s side, walking into the vogue offices each day dressed to the nines.

Review by Kelly Jarvis: A Rose By Any Other Name by Mary McMyne
Mary McMyne’s phenomenal new release, A Rose By Any Other Name, tells the story of Rose Rushe, the mysterious “Dark Lady” of William Shakespeare’s sonnets. In the prologue to Rose’s narrative, she describes herself as the “daughter of an ill-starred astrologer and a witch who refused to hide her Catholicism,” and casts the bard’s famous sonnets as “the bitter spew of a jealous lover.” By the end of the first page, I was prepared for a tumultuous journey through the dazzling world of Elizabethan England, and A Rose By Any Other Name did not disappoint!
McMyne’s book begins with Rose dreaming of a life beyond the confines of her country home. She has learned much from the crafts of her parents, but she also sings and plays music, and her deepest desire is to travel to London with her childhood friend Cecely and secure a position as a musician in Queen Elizabeth’s court. When her father passes away, Rose’s unconventional plans are thwarted by her need to protect her mother and her little brother. Chased out of town by accusations of witchcraft, Cecely, Rose, and her family flee to the London home of her father’s good friend, an alchemist seeking to turn base metals into gold. Although Rose is trapped into marrying to secure her family’s welfare, she never stops reaching for her independence, using both ingenuity and duplicity to locate her mother’s estranged relatives and to earn money by singing in brothels, composing music for the theatre, and dabbling in astrology for powerful and wealthy clients who pay handsomely for her discretion.
Rose’s complex relationship with her mother, Katarina, is on full display throughout the narrative. Katarina has spells and potions at her disposal, using them indiscriminately to further the security of her family, sometimes at the cost of her own daughter’s freedom. Rose has inherited much of her mother’s shrewdness, and although she has spent her youth dallying with boys’ affections and enjoys a physical relationship with Will Shakespeare, she is a woman who knows what she wants out of life, and she will stop at nothing to get it. Like Rose and her mother, Shakespeare himself is presented as a complex character, both brilliant and insecure, both intimate and distant. Will’s wit draws Rose into his world of ink and paper, but when he brings her into contact with Henry, the Earl of Southampton, whose mother has hired the poet to write sonnets convincing him to marry, Rose is able to peer beneath the surfaces of the men’s desires because she is so clear in knowing her own.
McMyne’s greatest strength as a writer comes from her ability to create engaging narrators who are not as fully in control of their stories as they seem. Like Haelewise, the narrator of McMyne’s “Rapunzel” retelling The Book of Gothel, Rose is a multidimensional character whose writing reveals more than the story she reports. Rose writes, in part, to vilify Will Shakespeare, claiming that after their ordeal, she took little interest in his work though he filled his plays and poems with references to her and their romance. Careful readers of Rose’s narrative, however, will spot nods to the bard’s work in her chosen language, revealing that while her relationship with Shakespeare may have been a small part of her life, it had a lasting impact on her and the way that she understands the world. McMyne skillfully gives the dark lady a powerful new voice while simultaneously binding her to the poet who first immortalized her in verse, and the effect is breathtaking.
“Sometimes the music just comes,” Rose says to Will upon reading his beautiful sonnet which compares the Earl of Southampton to a summer’s day, and in A Rose By Any Other Name, the music has come to Mary McMyne. Passionate, mysterious, and achingly beautiful, this book offers readers a new take one of the world’s greatest literary mysteries. It is a must read for all those interested in complex family dynamics, sapphic romances, and the pull between societal duty and individual desire. McMyne’s stunning combination of scholarly research and engaging fiction will transform the way audiences understand women, witches, and William Shakespeare. I loved it!

CHEIRO – THE FATHER OF MODERN PALMISTRY
Cheiro, (pronounced K’i-ro) born William John Warner (November 1, 1866 – October 8, 1936) was the father of modern palmistry. He was also known professionally as Count Louis Hamon. Cheiro was without any doubt an unusually gifted astrologer and palmist and provided modern-day palmists with an amazing body of reference work.
Cheiro was an Irish astrologer and a well-known figure in the budding occult world of the early 20th century. He was born to William and Margaret Warner in a village outside Dublin. Throughout his professional life, he maintained several pseudonyms including Count Louis Hamon, Count Leigh de Hamong, and most famous name, Cheiro. As you might have figured out, the name Cheiro is derived from the word cheiromancy, which means palmistry. He was a clairvoyant who taught palmistry, astrology, and Chaldean numerology. During his career, he circulated in the circle of very famous people worldwide. His divination skills were heralded and he was known to make impactful predictions connected to his clients.
As a young man, Cheiro traveled to Bombay, India. There he met Guru Chitpavan Brahmin, who allowed him to study ancient texts about palmistry. He spent two years immersed in developing his own skills as a palmist. He then returned to Europe, but not to his homeland, instead setting up a palm reading practice in London, England. His first client was Arthur Balfour, who was a member of the new Society for Psychical Research. This group was researching all types of psychic activity throughout England. Mr. Balfour was quite impressed with his reading, so much that he told all his friends, who were quite influential at the time. Word of mouth brought Cherio fame and fortune, especially with the upper classes. He quickly became known as one of the most popular and influential seers of his time across Europe and in America. The accuracy of his predictions was the key reason that many famous celebrities and members of royalty consulted him on a wide variety of topics.
The Hands of Celebrities
Cheiro read the palms of Sir Austen Chamberlain, Mark Twain, Dame Nellie Melba, Oscar Wilde, Grover Cleveland, Thomas Edison, Sarah Bernhardt, Mata Hari and the Prince of Wales to name a few. Not only did he read the palms of famous individuals, but he also documented those sessions and made palm prints of their hands. As part of the overall experience, he kept a journal in which he would ask patrons to write personal thoughts on their experience with their readings. Mark Twain agreed to sit for a reading, even though he was skeptical of palmistry. He was so impressed with the accuracy of his reading, he made use of palmistry in one of his stories called, ‘Pudd’n Head Wilson’. He wrote a wonderful statement in Cherio’s journal stating how moved he was by the experience.
He correctly predicted that the Jews would return to Palestine and the country would again be called Israel. He also predicted the date of Queen Victoria’s death, the year and month when King Edward VII would die, and the assassination of Italy’s King Humbert. These are just a few of the accurate predictions that he made about world leaders. He became so popular that he stayed in America, Hollywood specifically, and saw over a dozen client per day until his death in 1936 following a heart attack.
Written Works
Cheiro amassed a great fortune writing books on palmistry, astrology, numerology and the occult. Many of his works are still in print today and they have been vital to palmists still today.
