Author note: I’ve been playing fallout new Vegas (got a new laptop to download mods more easily too lmao) and it recently became my comfort game (I always side with NCR I can’t do a legion run) anyways wanted to write this headcanon because I love the companions and platonically I think they come to care for Six too.

Fallout New Vegas companions reaction when you tell them you’re pregnant (Platonic)

You were starting to feel nauseous one day while you were traveling with them, at first you thought it might’ve been because of the heat of the Mojave but it started to become more frequent especially when it came to eating squirrel bites or gecko meat.

You paid a visit to Dr. Usanagi one day without your companion, but when she gave you the news about why you were starting to feel sick you wished you did bring them along. Now you had to figure out a way to tell your travel companion about it…

Arcade:

Arcade could always tell when you were hiding something, you would avoid any eye contact with him or completely change the subject whenever he asked about you feeling sick. It wasn’t until you both settled down for the night that you finally told him.

“So… what do you think?”

“What do I think?! Six you shouldn’t even be traveling right now!”

“I know! But I had to tell you somehow without the others being around!” You sighed as you pinched the bridge of your nose.

Arcade didn’t know what to say as a friend he was happy for you, but he was worried for you now especially with you being on bad terms with the legion. “First thing tomorrow we head back to freeside, whatever tasks NCR needs you to do they can handle it themselves.” Arcade is going to be telling you what healthy foods to eat to help with your immune system and keep the baby away from radioactive foods.

Boone:

You literally almost give him a heart attack when you told him you were pregnant, his thoughts raced back to what happened with his wife and their unborn child.

“Six you can’t be out here, we need to head back to freeside.”

“The suns already setting…”

Boone sighed he would give you a proper congratulation back at freeside, but for now he would stay awake and watch out for any danger. His mind kept racing back to Carla and he was determined that it wouldn’t happen to you, he couldn’t allow it to happen again. Boone is most likely always going to be by your side, he knows the others can protect you but it just makes him feel better to see you safe.

Lily:

“Aw Pumpkin! Grandma is happy for you! But you shouldn’t be out here.” You snorted “I doubt anyone would mess with me while you’re with me Lily… do you think I’ll make a good mother?” You asked as you start unpacking your bag “of course dearie, grandma will do her best to help you out.”

You smiled warmly at her.

“Thank you Lily.. we can head back to freeside the moment the sun is up again.”

Lily would be giving you advice on what to do for morning sickness and helping you gather maternity items.

Raul:

He whistled “who’s the father?”

“RAUL!”

“Kidding, but seriously boss the wasteland is no place for you especially not right now with everything going down with the legion.”

He was right, you doubt the legion would show you any mercy if they knew you were pregnant… you shivered at the thought if Caesar ever found out.

“Boss you know I’ll protect you right?” Raul’s voice brought you away from the negative thoughts you were currently having.

“I know, I just wanted to tell you that you were going to be an uncle.” You said nudging his shoulder. Raul is just like Boone he’s going to be defensive and protective of you during your pregnancy.

Cassidy:

She smirked, “can I ask who the father is?”You remained stoic but she could tell how nervous you were getting “just tugging at your leg Six, you don’t have to tell me but please tell me you won’t be doing any courier or assignments for NCR.” You titled your head to the side almost debating it, but you nodded “I won’t, I have caps saved up but I do have to tell ambassador Crocker about this…” Cassidy hummed “I’ll come with you in case he decides to say something snarky.” She’s acts aloof about your pregnancy but deep down she cares about you and your little one.

Veronica:

“I’m going to be an aunt?!” She shouted happily, you giggled “y’know I was really nervous on telling you first, but I’m glad I did.” Veronica is quick to wrap her arms around you before quickly releasing you, “whoa I should be more careful while doing that right? But Six… did you have to tell me when we’re far away from Freeside?” You shrugged.

“Isn’t the bunker nearby? Last time I remember Elder McNamara loves me!” Veronica is so loving anything baby related she finds out in the wasteland she brings back to you.

ED-E:

The poor little bot beeped curious before scanning your stomach, ED-E looked back at you confused. You giggled and gently placed your hand on top of him “you won’t get to see them until well… they’re out of me ED-E.” He beeped curiously again, he wouldn’t understand until he saw your body start to change.

ED-E had a feeling he remembered something like this from his past but couldn’t exactly pinpoint it. ED-E would be by your side through morning sickness and restless nights often playing soft music next to you, for your little one to listen to if they start to kick around too much.

Rex:

When Rex saw you come through the doors to greet the king he tilted his head to the side, something was different about you or at least your smell was different. He leaned into your touch as you gently petted his ears before sitting down next to the king, he watched as the two of you spoke.

Rex saw how the king’s smile grew before gently patting Six’s shoulder, something in Rex felt protective of Six too.

He let out a whine before placing his head on Six’s lap.

You giggled before scratching his ear, Rex remembered this smell he knew what it meant.

He would follow you everywhere and if you would fall asleep up in suites of the Lucky 38, Rex would position himself in front of the door guarding you even from your companions.

The only design note I feel obligated to share rn is that I’m choosing to put Veronica in the lightweight metal armor bc I like it but I do draw her in her regular scribe robes 👍

I might do another “honorary companions” or dlc companions post but don’t hold me to it

Most unrealistic part of Fallout New Vegas companions is that they all just disperse from you once the story is complete. Like you fought a war with and/or for me, a REVOLUTION, and you just fuck off after all that???

In my mind they all just sit in the Lucky 38 having Always Sunny-esque conversations with each other and the Courier until they venture out to get shot at for fun.
