Book Review: 

November 9 by Colleen Hoover

I give this book 5 stars on goodreads. To start this off, I absolutely adore Colleen Hoover and although I’ve only read a total of 4 of her books she’s one of my favorite YA/NA contemporary authors. 

Reading this book at the beginning it gave me confidence in myself, it made me honestly question falling in love so early in my life and taking big steps so early. As the book went on my heart broke, I was shocked and I couldn’t seem to put it down. 

This book is wonderful for those of you that are in reading slumps-much like the rest of Colleen’s books. 

Non-spoiler review: 

November 9 is based around two characters, Fallon (Fallon the transient) a 18 year old girl who was burned in a house fire. Her right side of her face and down to her stomach is scarred from the third degree burns. Her father is an actor and she was an actress but the fire ruined her career at a young age. The other character is Ben (Ben the writer) who is also 18 years old and he is a writer, and in college. His father and mother are both dead. This story is about Fallon and Ben from the first November 9th they meet to when they’re 23 years old. Fallon and Ben have made a deal to meet up every year on November 9th at the same place until they’re 23. Fallon doesn’t want to fall in love with him, her mother had told her to find herself first before she gives herself to someone else. She believes nobody should settle down with the love of their life until they’ve reached at least 23 but rules are broken, secrets are spilled and hearts get broken. 

SPOILER:

I knew this book wasn’t going to be an easy ending love story but I really didn’t expect Ben to be the one who started the fire at Fallon’s dad’s house. At the same time I rolled my eyes when I read that because how obvious-you know? I loved the twist and my heart actually crumbled while reading Ben’s version of November 9. The quotes, the story the raw truth he spilled...I’m so happy the book ended how it did. So so happy.
