I know there's a lot of debate about the Stans' age, and personally I've calculated it as 62, so Shermie would have had to have His Son(Dip+Mab Dad) at 16 and then the twins were born when their parents were 18 or vice versa. To me, I like the thought that Shermie didn't escape Filbrick's bad parenting and got a girl pregnant as a teenager and his son only managed to be slightly better and married the mother of his children only for their marriage to not work out. Thinking about this line from the Transformers Annual. Instead of saying “me!” or being defensive, Bumblebee says “nice people”—even though perhaps back in the time Optimus and Pyra were talking about, Bumblebee was likely being genuine. However this line denotes that at least at this point in time, saying things like that is a conscious decision to be “nice”. It’s a conscious facade, and part of why Bumblebee works so well with Starscream in phase 2–they’re both stuck between who other people perceive them as, and who they are and become as they heal post war. As they do their best to unite neutrals, autobots, and decepticons, or colonists and cybertronians. Part of why they both end up failing to lead is BECAUSE their reputations precede them in such a way, but that doesn’t mean they can’t still push towards their wish to see Cybertronian become home once more, and being able to be themselves and rest with each other. Bumblebee and Starscream are a lot more alike than many people—both within and outside of canon—think.

I’m interested to hear how people play Henry in regards to sex and romance. Since there’s so much choice in this, and everyone can shape their Henry a bit differently.

Of course in kcd1 he starts off with Bianca, though I always interpreted that as early young flirtations that didn’t have time to develop into anything deeper. But if Skalitz hadn’t happened like it did, and Henry listened to his Pa, then I could see them staying together as a small town romance, settling down etc but Henry would always be restless.

In the first game, I always played Henry as someone who kind of fell into romantic entanglements without really putting much thought into it. With Lady Stephanie he was flustered by receiving such attention from a noblewoman, that he was just kind of swept away in it, he didn’t think much about it. Same with any other short term sexual encounters in kcd1.

Theresa is different, in that it was sweet and fun and they’re friends in addition to it all. After they sleep together Henry can bring up marriage immediately, which she kind of shoots down a bit. I think they were close, but the distance from Henry’s occupation frays their relationship, while it never had time to develop into something as strong as he eventually has with Hans, it was sweet and enjoyable and was built from a strong foundation. For my Henry at least, it just doesn’t stand the time and distance and everything that Henry goes through when he leaves Rattay. Even in the first game, he’s away more and more.

When it comes to kcd2, I tried to play it as Henry is no longer stumbling into sex but he doesn’t really know why. He slept with the girl at the wedding, all the bitter feelings resurfacing from his interactions with Hans just beforehand, and the wedding sex was bad (she says so herself ahaha). Then after that, he’s not really feeling the interest that he used to, maybe he attributes it to the stress of the situation he’s in, but his heart is no longer in it.

I don’t think my Henry realises the way he feels towards Hans falls under the romantic and sexual attraction umbrella until much later on, but it makes something click inside his head when he does. Maybe this happens when Hans kisses him. But he’s suddenly understanding why he’s been less interested in casual sex, and why the attention of pretty women doesn’t quite feel the same as it used to. Because so much of his world already revolves around Hans, it’s difficult to see the depths and complexities of those feelings until they’re spelled out clearly in front of him.

Interested to hear how other people play it though, because dedicated to Hans Henry is also great, as is a Henry who sleeps with everyone he can lmao

(spoilers for Harumasa's agent story!)

Does anyone ever think about how Harumasa purposefully acts in a carefree way about his own illness and hides how serious it is to the people he cares about? How he makes everyone think he's slacking off on purpose, and it's not because of his terminal illness, chronic conditions, or sleepless nights?

A part of it is that he doesn't want to worry other people, and another part of it is that he's afraid of being rejected. His birth parents already left him because of his illness. Harumasa feels alienated, and is afraid of his potential for monstrosity: he could turn into an Ethereal and lose himself, but his spinal fluid was also used for dangerous, experimental drugs. The one person he did care about, his mentor, was taking advantage of him. And when Harumasa learned that there was some element of affection in his mentor's actions, he also learned his mentor was killed precisely because he cared about Harumasa too much.

Despite it all, Harumasa loves people. He loves humanity. He loves Section Six. But there's a part of him that's afraid of being vulnerable and honest. I think he's both afraid of being hurt and hurting others, so he keeps them at a slight distance. For his sake, and for theirs.

I'm gnawing on Timothy rn. He's not a poor meow meow. He can be selfish. He can be mean. He has attachment issues. If it's just due to mask of Jack - who cares. He tries to separate from the man, and he's the one who makes the choices.

Tim can be awkward. He can be anxious, happy, sad. But he will shoot you. He'll laugh at your project if he doesn't like him. He can be assertive.

Tim isn't good or bad. Tim is a person, and like the universe he's in - he shows it off. Guilt only comes from confrontation. And that's something Jack done a few times too.

Thinking about the episode where Nessie Jr hatches and how Colonel Baird assumes that Ezekiel is goofing off so she gives him a job to do and he keeps trying to get that job out of the way as fast as he can so he can go back to the very important job he was doing.

There's so much to be said about that part of the episode!

The way colonel baird assumes he's goofing off, the way he doesn't even try to defend himself until after he's already finished the thing she was stopping him from doing, the way he only explains why he was on his phone after she's already scolded him multiple times, the way he HACKED a GOVERNMENT SATALITE from his CELL PHONE, the way he genuinely cares about the egg despite it being dumped on him because of the assumption that he isn't working on something worthwhile, the way he's genuinely upset that he almost killed the egg by accident, the way he doesn't realise a bunsen burner will kill the baby but knows how to HACK a SATALITE from his CELL PHONE, the way he doesn't really care that Baird kept him away from his important work because of an assumption, the way he never tries to curb her assumption, the way he's only annoyed and really only mildly scolds her for making him take longer to figure out the other's were in big trouble, the way that this episode deeply effects how Baird sees Ezekiel, there's just so much to be said
