Como queda Fest III - el regreso de un clásico

Como Queda Fest III, este viernes 17 en Tazu Under Bar.

La primera edición del Como Queda Fest fue en el año 2018, reuniendo en aquel entonces a cuatro bandas jóvenes sobre el escenario de BJ: Walkmans, De La Nada, Annie y Wildness. La experiencia se repitió en noviembre de 2019, esta vez en Tazú, donde los Walkmans compartieron line up con Salados, Noe Santana y Monos Casse. Finalmente - y luego del párate obligatorio de la Pandemia - el clásico tiene su esperado regreso a la cartelera montevideana. Para su tercera edición, Como Queda Fest invita a acercarse este viernes a Tazú Under Bar para escuchar a los Walkmans, Abril 28 y (desde Argentina) Fake Hppy. 

Para adelantarles la fecha, Arde conversó con las bandas en la previa del show. 

Ya la tercera edición del Como Queda Fest, ¿cuál dirían que es la esencia o el espíritu de la fecha?

Creemos que se transformó en una "fiesta de fin de año" donde nos damos el gusto de tocar descontracturados con bandas que nos gustan con el único fin de pasar bien la noche nosotros, y de paso entretener a nuestro público.

¿Cómo surge el lineup? ¿Hubo un acercamiento a raíz del tributo a blink-182 (que evidencia, por supuesto, influencias comunes entre los proyectos)?

En realidad el acercamiento se da desde antes del tributo a blink, las bandas ya nos conocíamos, ya nos gustábamos, y es por eso que terminamos coincidiendo en ese disco a una banda que amamos tanto. Lo que sí generó el disco tributo fue darnos cuenta lo parecido que trabajamos, y eso generó que queramos hacer más cosas juntos.

Sabemos que los Walkmans se han presentado en vivo varias veces durante este 2021, y además vienen de lanzar su álbum El Momento. ¿Cuál es su balance del año?

Para nosotros el año fue soñado. Pudimos tocar en vivo apoyando consignas que nos llaman, participamos de un tributo a una de nuestras bandas favoritas, y sacamos el disco en mejores condiciones de las que esperábamos. Cuando iniciamos el camino hacia #ElMomento no imaginábamos que íbamos a poder encontrar un nuevo sonido que nos termina de consolidar como grupo musical, ni pensábamos que íbamos a terminar contando con el apoyo de un sello (SONDOR), pero sin querer queriendo se dio, y básicamente fue gracias al grupo humano que nos ayudó a cerrar el álbum. Y poder llegar a todo eso siendo los mismos tres mejores amigos que hace unos cuantos años nos juntábamos a tocar la guitarra en la Plaza Seregni tomando chocolatada, no tiene precio.

  Abril 28 también está de estreno con el reciente lanzamiento del videoclip Sintiendo Culpa. ¿Hay un nuevo EP en camino?

Estamos terminando la producción de nuestro primer disco, a mediados de año tuvimos la oportunidad de firmar con el sello nacional Sondor el cual nos proporcionó más recursos de los que teníamos para poder producir las canciones del disco y si bien la idea era lanzarlo a fin de año, no dimos bien con los tiempos así que va a estar saliendo a principios del 2022.

  Es la primera vez de Fake Hppy en Montevideo, ¿qué expectativas tienen para la fecha?

Así es, va a ser la primera vez de FAKE HPPY en Montevideo y estoy muy contento por la oportunidad. Esperamos dar un show con mucha energía y con buenas vibras ya que ese mismo día lanzamos nuestro EP: OPORTUNCRISIS! así que va a ser un show más que especial para nosotros.

  Son tres bandas que invitan al agite con su música, ¿cómo adaptan el show a los protocolos actuales? ¿Se diseña una setlist más “tranquila” para no sufrir tanto la distribución en mesas?

La verdad apostamos a que las personas que vayan puedan contener el impulso de moverse y cumplir con los protocolos, porque sinceramente las tres bandas vamos a dar shows muy energéticos. Es el primer show en el que vamos a tocar con protocolo, ya que en las fechas anteriores siempre tocamos al aire libre, así que veremos como se siente.

¿Cómo han vivido estos años sin muchas presentaciones en vivo?

W: A nosotros nos agarró en plena producción del disco, por lo tanto nos ayudó mucho a concentrarnos en el mismo, y a su vez, al no tener idea de cuándo podríamos tocarlo en vivo, nos tomamos todo el tiempo del mundo para que quedara tal cual quedó. A28:Creo que la mayoría de las bandas se encontraron en la misma dicotomía, que hacer si no podemos tocar. La respuesta más directa era, trabajar en la música a nivel de producción o hacer live-streams, en el caso de Abril28 nos pareció que hacer live-streams no era tan redituable teniendo el disco pendiente así que nos enfocamos en producir la música para llevarla al mejor nivel posible. FH: Si hay algo que realmente me gusta es tocar en vivo, este es nuestro primer año como banda y solo tuvimos 4 presentaciones previas a Montevideo, me hubiese gustado que sean más shows pero a la vez soy consciente de todo lo que estamos pasando, tratamos de ser responsables al respecto. Espero que el 2022 nos reciba diferente y podamos volver a Uruguay.

Luego de esta fecha, ¿cuáles son sus proyectos a futuro? De la misma forma en que Fake Hppy cruzó el charco, ¿existe la idea de que las bandas uruguayas viajen a tocar a Argentina?

Lo primero que vamos a hacer es descansar un poco del año y disfrutar del verano, pero evidentemente tenemos ya varios proyectos para el 2022, y es verdad que uno de ellos es irnos los uruguayos a llevar nuestras tonadas al país hermano.

Dream Daddy: A Dad Dating Simulator

So this game has had a lot of criticism levelled at it since its release (or so I’ve seen) and I wanted to get m thoughts out cause it’s 2 am and I can’t sleep cause I keep thinking about it. I should preface this by saying that I am a lesbian and in no way wish to talk over mlm’s opinions of this as it is their’s to talk about. However the gay community is obviously something very very important to me. If there is gay representation whether it be guys gals or non-binary pals I am all over that because that is my community. I have not played this game all the way through, I have gotten 3 of the 7 endings and have been on most of the dates and smiled the whole way through cause this game makes me goddamn happy to see gay people being parents and having normal people problems and just generally being people and getting a happy fucking ending where no one goddamn dies. It is charming and sweet and cute and I just love it a lot.

Now, the first criticism I want to address is the issue of fetishization. The game itself as far as I can tell from my experience does not at all make gay relationships and mlm a fetish. It creates wonderful relationships, there is no explicit sex, it doesn’t make it out like that’s only what it’s about and there is only a healthy relationship with sex. In my opinion the game does a great job especially in a genre that as far as I can tell is usually entirely about sex and fetish stuff usually in the form of anime girls that are anatomically impossible and wear next to nothing and generally treated as sex objects. These are fleshed out characters with real people problems like marriage problems and young children being out of control and rebellious teenagers and sending kids off to collage and over-working yourself because you just want whats best for your children and all of these things that just makes these characters very real (and not stereotypes which honestly makes me so happy). Obviously the characters fit into certain tropes, but they are just character tropes not specifically gay tropes. I think they did a stunning job especially when you consider the genre they are working with which again, usually not one for in-depth characterisation. So for me the game itself did a wonderful job of not reducing mlm to a fetish. However, the problems probably arise from some who consume the media. There will be those who see this game and think it’s for them and it’s not. I am of course talking about those straight girls who think they’re such great ally’s cause they ship two men together and write about them shagging constantly, however when confronted with actual real gay people go running to the hills, the girls who want a gay best friend because they think gay men are such a massive stereotype and want essentially to make a gay man an accessory to their life (you know the type I mean). They will take these stories and makes them... less, taint them with an air of fake allyship. They will do what they always do an take representation that was not meant for them and make it entirely about them. This is not okay. 

Another criticism I saw was something about Joseph and a cult ending? I played through with Joseph because honestly I fell in love with him the moment after the re-introduction and saw nothing. Perhaps it was something that was an intial thought but they decided wasn’t right for the tone of the game? I don’t know honestly, I don’t really know what happened with this one so I won’t say much other than to say I didn’t see it.

The other criticism that I couldn’t stop thinking about was that this game was not okay because it didn’t address the struggles of mlm trying to have kids. The struggle of the gay community and trying to raise family has been well documented with the constant debate about whether gay parents are fit to be parents whether somehow being gay would in fact hurt the child, whether we should be allowed to adopt etc etc. We all know the story and it’s heartbreaking. It needs to be addressed and dealt with and we need to stop being treated like being gay is inherently harmful. However, it does not need to be addressed here. This game is purely fictional, it is a fantasy land where things are pretty happy go lucky and the people are charming and the sun is always shining. This is not the platform to have such an important debate, it would trivialise it. Also, why would you want it here? I constantly hear, and say myself, that I don’t want yet another piece of media documenting the ways in which it’s hard to be gay. I don’t want the suicide stories, and the awful coming outs and the shitty indy movies where everything is miserable as fuck. I want the romance and happiness, I want the happy endings. I already live in a world where being gay is a constant battle to be allowed and to be respected and just to be able to live without people debating what rights I... we, should have, why the fuck would I want to go and immerse myself in another one where being gay is hard? It is a constant struggle for representation, for good happy representation that doesn’t end in a woops they’re dead, this game is giving me that. I want to go and play around in a world where no one bats an eyelid and you can just have kids and it’s not a struggle and you can just go around being a dad telling awful dad jokes without having to have fought for 10 years just to have that child. I want it to be simple and easy and happy. For me it is a window to what I want, it is the happy ending we so often call for. It is the reason to keep fighting and the hppy escape when the fight gets too much. I love this game, I understand if you don’t, I’m not saying you should, I’m just saying I love this game. It shows me a glimpse of the kind of life I could one day hope to lead.
