"Thanks for meeting me today," he hugged you tightly as soon as you arrived. You've known him for years but you'll never get tired of his hugs. They feel as if they are a comfort blanket, never waiting to leave his arms.
"Of course! I tried rushing over as quick as I could as soon as I got your text." You mentioned when sitting down next to him on the bench.
He didn't say anything more, never seeing him this quiet. You worriedly turned your head to see his hung low while you tried figuring out what was wrong. On the way over you tried to decipher his text. All his message said was come to the bench you and him always meet at, where you both discuss problems.
"Everything okay?" You eyed him suspiciously.
You could see him tighten his grip on the bench, seeing the veins popping up. "I think she's cheating on me..." he said in almost a whisper but loud enough to hear.
Taken a bit back, you could feel a tiny bit of your heart crack for him. You've never like his girlfriend but didn't think she would ever cheat. "Your girlfriend? No way...there's no way anyone could cheat on you."
You could see the side of his lips smirk before turning serious again as he looked at you with heavy eyes. "That's nice of you to say but I saw the message..."
Your breath was hitched in your throat when he said that. "What do you mean?" Your right eyebrow raised out of curiosity.
He let out a deep sigh before explaining but he didn't even look at you, he just looked straight out to the world. "We were hanging out one night and her phone began to ring...when she quickly reached over and put it on silent. I asked who it was but she said it was spam. So I thought nothing of it," you couldn't help but catch a glimpse him biting his lower lip out of been anxious.
"When she went to the bathroom, her phone went off again. I asked her about it but she said it was nothing, turning her phone over on my night stand. Which she's never done before. Am I being paranoid?"
You hated how much she was making him hurt by this. She could have easily shown him who was calling but I don't want to hurt his heart more...I don't care how big of a crush I have on him. His happiness comes first. "Hmm, has she been doing anything else out of the ordinary?"
He nodded his head yes before turning his gaze onto you, making you sit up in your spot. Your body tensed, like you were the one in trouble. "Lately, she's been avoiding kissing me, having sex...she's even canceled a few of our dates."
"Chan, I don't think you're paranoid but maybe talk to her about this...about how you feel."
"But what do I say?" You searched his face, wondering what does he say to her. You wanted to be selfish and say she is cheating but your heart was too pure for that.
"Just mention your feelings, like you're doing with me. If she gets mad and turns it on you, that's all you need to know. If she brings out her phone and shows you, there is nothing to worry about."
His lips pierced tightly together as he listened to your helpful words. He was afraid to say anything to her, knowing how she gets but he was tired of feeling like he doesn't matter to her anymore. He saw the hearts in your eyes, looking up at him. "Thanks Y/n, I'll try my best to talk to her tonight."
"You can do it, I know you can," the words tasted sour, feeling a stinging pain in your heart. "Plus, she would be crazy to cheat on you. You're so amazing, the sweetest person I've ever met!" You smiled as he shared one in return, his dimples on display.
"Please, I'm okay at best," he stuck his tongue out slightly to the side as nudged you. "But oh, how did your date go last night, you never told me."
You rubbed the top of your left eye lid gently, trying not to smear any of your makeup while you thought back to the date you were dreading all day yesterday. "It went alright..."
"I'm assuming by that tone, you've never going to talk to him again?"
You couldn't help but chuckle as you played with the gold dainty daisy ring that sat on your right middle finger. "You know me too well."
"Of course I do, we've been friends since we were 10. But don't worry, we'll find you a great guy." He patted your back, making you fake smile as you looked up at him, wanting to just confess your feelings. I want to be with you, you thought to yourself. Your heart yelling at you to say it out loud.
Your eyes sat on his, while you gripped the hard bench yelling at yourself to just admit it already. "What's wrong?" He asked, seeing his facial expression changed from happy to worried.
Small air escaped your lips, shifting uncomfortably in your seat from his gaze locked on to you. Just say it. "I..." You began as he titled his head to the side, pulling his hand off your back to sit it right next to yours, making them touch.
You could feel your face become warm and a spark shoot through your body. "It's nothing." You shook out of his trance, looking down at your shoes that were touching together by how nervous you were.
"Hey, you can tell me anything. You know I don't judge." He placed his left hand on top of your right, making you look down with your eyes wide enough for them to fall out.
Titling your head up, trying to relax the body you said, "It's just..." A deep breath escaped making Chan know there is something your holding back. He can see it in your eyes that you have so much to tell him.
A tiny bit is hoping you confess how you feel about him. He's always pictured a moment like this. The crush he has on you would make him daydream about sitting on this exact bench, while you confess how much you like him.
"I...I think I'll never find anyone." You moved your head away from him, sighing in defeat.
His heart melted a bit but should have known not to get his hopes up, to think you would find him more than just a friend. "That's not true, look at me," he placed his hand on your shoulder, turning slowly to him where you didn't realize how close he got until your faces were inches apart. You thought he would move away but he didn't. "You're beautiful, funny, loves talking soccer, sweet, caring, any guy would be lucky to be with you."
His dimples showing again as he smiled while you accidently moved your eyes down to his lips then quickly back up to his sight. Your heart was turning, making you realize he will only ever be a friend. "Thanks."
You and him eventually got up and walked around the area, just talking and going over the plans for him tonight. You were laughing about something he said when his flannel slid down his arm a bit, revealing his toned shoulder. Showing off his arm that made you try you best to focus on him but you were losing the ability to.
You both kept walking around the place until it was time to go. Like the gentleman he is, walked you to your car. "Well, thanks for your help. I'll let you know how it goes tonight." He hugged you tightly as he didn't want to let go.
"I hope it goes well," A fake smile appeared on your face as you pulled away before getting into your car.
You waved goodbye as you drove off, immediately yelling at yourself for not say anything. "I'm so stupid, I should have just said it...fuck me. What is my problem??"
The second you walked into your apartment, you threw yourself on to the couch looking at your reflection in the TV. Disgusted by what you saw, you turned it on to find your favorite show to help cheer you up.
After changing, making dinner, you just hung around your house waiting for Chan to message. When watching TV, every five minutes you would pick up your phone to see if he sent anything but nothing. A couple times your phone would ding but it was just your other friends messaging you, disappointing you every time.
The later it got, you decided to go washes dishes before you went to bed. He's never going to text...they'll probably making up right now. You body shivered from that thought, rolling your eyes when you heard your phone go off. Setting down the dish, drying your hands, you rushed over to pick up your phone. Please let it be him, you hoped as it turned on to see it was in fact him.
You sat down on the couch, ready to face whatever he might say.
Tumblr media
Great... you thought as you through yourself back on the couch, turning around to lie flat on it while pinching the bridge of your nose. Well there goes that...Actually, I'm going to do it. Fuck it...what's the worse that can happen?
Your thumbs quickly began to dance on the phone screen, trying to hurry up before you second guess yourself.
You only read back the message once, to make sure there were no errors before you hit the send button. "Holy shit! I can't believe I did that!" You yelled out loud, getting up and walking all over your apartment, yelling 'holy fuck' every two seconds.
"Okay, that looks crooked, let's fix that!" You began to fix your pictures on the wall at midnight because there was no way you were going to sit still.

It's almost funny how quickly you and Chan become friends.
You hadn't really been looking forward to taking a technical writing class, but it's one of the requirements to get your degree and at least the lecture is large enough that you won't have to do any in-class participation. When the professor announces that one of the very first assignments is going to be completed in random pairs, you're instantly nervous. It’s only after meeting Chan, who is easygoing yet studious, that you feel better.
Although the group assignment only takes a couple weeks to finish, you find yourself hanging out more and more. Chan has a natural way of writing, he's intelligent and efficient with his wording without sacrificing clarity. While you can eventually write something that’s fairly clear and concise, it takes a lot of effort and a lot of time so you're grateful to be working with Chan who doesn't struggle with tight timelines like you do.
The two of you grow close together, especially once you realise that you have a similar sense of humour and taste in music. It doesn't take long before technical writing is your favourite class. Chan always saves you a seat beside him, even though he has quite a few friends that are also taking this course. You’re not used to it at first, but you grow comfortable with the way that he leans over to make quips about whatever the professor is saying or pointing out if someone in the lecture hall is falling asleep. You sometimes bring him snacks and in exchange he brings you a drink.
The more you learn about Chan, the more you're convinced that he's perfect.
Well, apart from one thing.
The worst thing about Chan is his girlfriend. Jung Hayoon absolutely hates you and, behind Chan's back, never fails to make sure you know it too. While the two of you have never shared any courses, she regularly meets Chan after class is over and you've been invited to join them and some other friends for a meal or to study so you've interacted with her more than you want to.
You’re not quite sure what you've done to earn Hayoon's ire, but you can only guess that it's your blossoming friendship with Chan as she’s never seemed to care about you before you met him. She takes every opportunity to make backhanded compliments, pointed comments about how much or what you're eating, or loudly exclaiming when you have something stuck in your teeth. You try not to let it get to you, but you're always been a bit too sensitive.
You start declining offers to hang out with Chan and the rest of his friends after class, trying to ignore Chan's disappointment and Hayoon's smug smile every time that you make excuses.
Of course, she's sickly sweet around Chan, constantly hanging off his arm, batting her eyes at him, and trying to hold his attention. You can't really stand her obviously fake behaviour, but she makes Chan happy so you don't say anything negative about her when Chan's around.
You aren’t the type to keep up with school gossip, but even you know that Hayoon's track record is far from pristine. In fact, you were surprised to hear that someone as genuine and kind as Chan was in a relationship with someone like Hayoon.
The library isn't your favourite place to study, but partway through midterm season you're desperate for a change in scenery. You spend the better part of the day completing practice exams for the course you're the most worried about until you finally feel more confident. Satisfied with your progress and excited at the prospect of eating a proper meal rather than the snacks that have kept you going so far, you quickly pack up.
There aren't too many people in the library since it’s so close to the weekend, a lot of students have either finished all of their exams for the week or just given up studying. Maybe that's why your attention seems so drawn to the couple that you pass on the way to the door.
You don't mean to do anything other than quickly glance at them, but the familiarity of the girl catches your eye. The carefully styled hair and slim figure is a common combination to see at your university, but after weeks of trying to avoid her, there’s no mistaking Jung Hayoon.
And it's not Chan that she’s currently kissing.
You stumble away from them, but not before Hayoon looks up and spots you. Instead of panicking or stopping, she continues making out with the boy, maintaining eye contact with you. She even has the audacity to wink. You stare at her for a second, stunned, then bolt out of the building.
You're so flustered that you don't know what to do or where to go. You end up walking to the nearest bench and sitting down heavily in it.
You knew that you didn't like Hayoon, that she was two-faced and had likely cheated on past partners, but you hadn't expected to ever catch her in the act, especially while she was dating Chan. You couldn't fathom why anybody would want anything else when they had him and you had never been able to understand cheating in the first place.
You have to tell Chan, you decide. As much as you hate difficult conversations and it kills you to be the bringer of bad news, you know that you'd never be able to sleep at night if you tried to hide this from him. If you were in his position, you would prefer to know as soon as possible.
You call him as you start heading in the direction of his dorm.
“Hey,” Chan picks up after only a few rings. “Is everything okay? You don't usually call.”
“Uhm-” You have no clue what to say, you didn't think this through enough before dialling. “Where are you? I- Can I come talk to you?”
“Y/n? What's wrong?” Chan's instantly concerned.
“Nothing, I just- I really need to talk to someone right now,” you say quickly. “I'm fine, I mean.”
“Okay. I'm at home right now, but I can come meet you if you need? Where are you?”
“Don't worry about it, I'll head over, if that's okay.”
“Sure,” Chan says, sounding extremely worried. “Be safe, Y/n. I'll see you soon.”
After you hang up, you don't quite run to Chan's place, but you're out of breath and sweaty by the time you make it. You take a moment to compose yourself before requesting access into the building, but you know you still look frazzled. Chan buzzes you in immediately and he’s waiting in the hallway when you step out of the elevator. He guides you into his room, but only after checking you over and making sure that you're physically okay.
“Y/n, you're scaring me,” he says after leading both of you to sit down at his tiny kitchen table. “Tell me what's got you so worked up.”
“Do you know where Hayoon is today?” you ask, probably sounding insane. Chan pauses for a moment, brow furrowed before he responds.
“I know that she has an exam tomorrow, so I assume that she's studying. Why, what's up?”
“She didn't say where or who she was going to be with today?”
“No, but it's not like I'm tracking her all the time. She's her own person, she's not obligated to constantly update me.”
“I saw her at the library.”
“Okay,” Chan says slowly.
“She was with someone else, a guy.”
“Why are you telling me this, Y/n?” Chan asks, starting to sound annoyed. His tone catches you off guard.  “This is why you called me, why you ran over to my place? If you think I'm that controlling-”
“They were kissing,” you interrupt. “She’s cheating on you, Chan.”
“Who was the guy?”
“I- I didn't see him well, his back was towards me so I couldn't recognize him,” you falter.
“Did you take a picture? Was there anyone else around?”
“No- but, I-”
“So I'm just supposed to believe you,” he says flatly.
“What? Why would I make this up?”
“I know that, for some reason, you don’t like Hayoon.” Chan's usually friendly voice is cold and his face is stony. “I can live with that. I mean, of course it would be nice if you were at least civil to her. But at the end of the day, you don’t have to, she’s my girlfriend and not yours.”
“Okay,” you say slowly, “but how would lying about this benefit me at all?”
“She warned me about this, you know. She said you were jealous. Of her. Of us. That you would do something to try and break us up.” Chan laughs, but the sound is empty. “I always defended you, which she hated. I don't know how many times I told her that you weren't like that, that there was nothing going on between us.”
“Well I can assure you that I’m not jealous. That I’m not trying to break you two up.”
“I know that there’s… chemistry between us,” Chan acknowledges. “I don't have that many close female friends and I didn't before I started dating Hayoon either, but I know that I like your company and that you're easy to talk to. But that's all. It's fine if you're interested in me, you can’t help your feelings, but accusing my girlfriend of cheating? That’s sick, Y/n.”
“Are you kidding me? There is nothing going on between us.” you say incredulously. “Listen Chan, I’m saying this, I'm here as a friend. You think I'm lying? You think I want to hurt you?”
“I think that maybe Hayoon had a point when she said you wouldn't be satisfied with just being friends.”
“That's what you think of me?” you ask, feeling hurt. “Even if I was interested, I wouldn't do that. I respect you as a friend, I respect you as a person, and I respect your relationship whether I like your partner or not. But if that’s how you see me, I’m not sure that we were ever really friends. I would never try to sabotage you or anybody that's happily in a relationship.” Chan's face drops at your words.
“Y/n-” he starts to say, but you've had enough of this conversation.
“Look- I came here because I knew I would feel terrible and guilty if I didn't, but I can't convince you of something you don't want to believe.” You shake your head and walk towards the door.
Chan doesn't try to stop you as you leave.
 —
The next day you get to class 15 minutes before it’s supposed to start. You're exhausted, have your eyes swollen from crying when you got back home last night, and most of all, feel hurt. You had been a little worried about how Chan would react to what you had to tell him, but you never expected that he would dismiss you without a thought. It's hard to reconcile with the upbeat and kind seatmate that you're used to.
Instead of your usual seat near the middle of the classroom, you opt for one off to the side that’s often emptier, not wanting to have to talk to or even see Chan. You pull up an assignment that you’ve been procrastinating working on and manage to ignore the rest of your classmates as they filter into the lecture hall. It’s only when someone slides into the seat right next to you that you look up, surprised anybody would approach you when you’re clearly being unsociable and look awful.
“Hyunjin.” You’re too shocked to even say hello.
“That’s my name,” Hyunjin replies, looking unimpressed by your greeting as he pulls out his laptop. “Good morning to you, too.”
“Sorry, good morning. You don’t usually sit with me.” You can’t help but point out the obvious.
In fact, Hyunjin usually doesn't sit with anyone. He's popular, it'd be hard not to be when you look as good as he does, but it's in a different way than Chan. While Chan seems to know practically everybody on campus, Hyunjin is almost untouchable.
While there are hoards of girls and guys that would love to have even a sliver of his attention, Hyunjin has a small circle of friends and is more interested in escaping the lecture hall to paint or dance than socialise. The only reason that you know him is because one of your closest childhood friends, Minho, is on the same dance crew as him and the three of you sometimes hang out. You wouldn't say that Hyunjin is more than an acquaintance though, he still intimidates you enough that you never would have tried to approach him first.
“And you don’t usually sit over here.” Hyunjin pretends to stretch and turns to look at your usual spot. “Avoiding someone?”
“Maybe.” You blush, embarrassed to be so easily seen through. “Is it that noticeable?”
“Nah, I just figured it was a matter of time before Hayoon got under your skin enough. I'm actually impressed you lasted this long, she really has it out for you.” While Hyunjin is surprisingly perceptive, you've also spent a fair bit of time ranting about Hayoon to Minho, and as a result, Hyunjin is kept up to speed on everything that Hayoon has done to antagonise you. You never realised that he actually paid enough attention to remember or that he agreed that Hayoon treated you like dirt.
“Actually, she’s not the one that I don’t want to talk to. Well, I never want to talk to her, but I’m not avoiding her.”
“No way,” Hyunjin crowds into your personal space, eyebrows raised dramatically. “Chan?”
You’ve had a pit in your stomach since last night’s argument and your mouth dries up at the thought of being so vulnerable, but something about the way that Hyunjin's eyes have widened to the size of dinner plates and his mouth has formed a little shocked ‘o’ is so disarming.
“We had a disagreement last night,” you admit.
“Hayoon cheated?” he guesses.
Now it's your turn for your mouth to drop open in shock.
“Don't say it so loud,” you hiss. “How did you know?”
“Well, as much as I usually like to give people the benefit of the doubt, especially for something this serious…” Hyunjin grimaces slightly. “I’ve been kind of expecting it. Hasn't she done the same on her past three or four boyfriends?”
“Oof, that bad? I've heard some things, but never really knew for sure.”
“At least,” Hyunjin confirms. “Honestly, I'd be more shocked if she didn't cheat at this point. I'm guessing Chan didn't take it so well if you're upset with him.”
“He's loyal to a fault, literally!” you complain. “In his eyes, Hayoon can’t do anything wrong, he's able to explain away everything she does. He didn’t believe that it was her that I saw.”
“So what are you going to do?” Hyunjin asks curiously.
“Nothing,” you say sullenly. “As much as I'd like to shake some sense into him, he's an adult. He can make his own decisions and if he wants to live in denial, that's up to him.”
“You're a good friend.” Hyunjin reaches out tentatively and after an awkward second, pats your shoulder. “Not everyone would be brave enough to have that kind of difficult conversation. Chan may be stubborn right now, but he'll appreciate it later.”
“Well based on yesterday, I don't think I'm his friend at all,” you huff. “Anyway, if it's okay with you, I don't think that I will make it through the rest of the term if I have to sit over there.”
“Be my guest.” Hyunjin grins and the sight of it makes the lecture a bit easier to sit through.
You don’t talk to Chan for the rest of the term. While you stopped outright avoiding him, you’re pretty sure that he’s purposely steering clear of you. Instead, you continue to sit with Hyunjin and pretend that Chan doesn’t exist.
It feels silly that you miss him or that you can’t seem to get over how things ended between the two of you. You had only been friends for two months, you shouldn’t be so hurt every time he purposely turns away from you or when his eyes seem to slide over you like you’re not there.
Hyunjin basically becomes your part-time therapist. Most of the time, it’s enough that he keeps you distracted. He shares all the latest campus gossip with you, allows you to work while he paints, and invites you to hang out with Minho and the rest of their dance crew more than a few times. On the rare occasion when you’re feeling more fragile than usual, he would be willing to spend an evening at your place and listen to you wallow.
“It’s fair that you’re still upset,” he had comforted you once. You had run into Hayoon in the bathroom that afternoon and she had gloated about how nothing and nobody would be able to break her and Chan apart. It had made you feel sick to the stomach. “There was never any resolution. Chan didn’t believe you, doesn’t believe you, even though you went to him with good intentions and it’s reasonable that you would feel hurt or frustrated.”
“I feel so stupid,” you had sniffled. “It’s not even like it was a break up. We were just friends.”
“That doesn’t make it any easier, you’re still missing someone who used to be in your life. It’ll get easier next term when you don’t share a class, I promise.” Somehow, that actually had made you feel better.
“Thanks, Hyunjin,” you had said with a watery smile.
The two of you work out well together, not just because you enjoy each other’s presence, but also because there’s no expectations or pressure. Hyunjin has slowly started to share with you stories about his previous relationships, how he’s hesitant to start dating again after having his heart broken so many times. Even though there are rumours swirling about the two of you, you know that neither of you are ready for it yet and that’s partly why it's so easy to hang out with him.
Tonight, the two of you are just hanging out in his art studio. You're mindlessly scrolling on your phone, you’ve just finished the exam that you've been dreading the most and don't have the brain capacity to even think about school. You know that Hyunjin is doing the same, you can see it out of the corner of your eye, but he's trying to pretend that he's working since his painting is due the next day.
He drops all pretences when he gasps loudly at something that he sees on his phone.
“Y/n,” he says gravely.
“What?” you ask, only slightly curious. By now, you've gotten used to the fact that Hyunjin would react the same way to seeing a cute puppy video as he would finding out about some terrible news.
“A friend just texted me,” he says, still in shock.
“Okay? What did they say?”
Hyunjin looks up at you for a moment, down at his phone, then back up at you.
“ChanandHayoonbrokeup,” he says in a rush, before wincing, clearly afraid of what your reaction is going to be.
“What?” You can't believe your ears.
“Chan and Hayoon, apparently they broke up this afternoon. Someone heard them shouting at each other.”
You put down your pencil slowly, not sure what to think.
“Do you know why?”
“Someone said that they heard that yesterday, Heeyeon and Yikyung broke up because Yikyung cheated on her. I think it must be related,” Hyunjin says quietly.
“Oh.”
“I think there's pictures or a video out there, I haven't seen anything yet though,” Hyunjin continues on, starting to get excited while typing away on his phone.
“Oh,” you say again, at a loss for actual words.
“Right before the holidays too, that's so-” Hyunjin cuts himself off when he looks up and sees you frozen in place. “Y/n, are you okay? Sorry, I'm sure it's a lot to process-”
“No, it's fine.” You force a smile. “I just- I think I have to go home now.”
“Y/n-”
“Really, it's okay. I just forgot that I have something to do. At home. Sorry.”
Hyunjin stares at you with eyes filled with something akin to pity, but doesn't say anything else. You try to ignore it as you hurriedly grab your things and leave.
A few days later you're packing up your bags in preparation to go home for the winter break when you hear a knock at your door. You weren't expecting anybody, but there's a few friends that you have that like to show up unannounced.
You're not prepared to open the door and find Chan standing behind it.
He looks terrible. He's wearing a huge hoodie and his hair is tucked away behind a beanie, but nothing can hide the way that his eyes are swollen and his skin is lacking its usual colour. You can only guess that he hasn't been able to eat or sleep much judging from the gauntness of his face and dark circles.
“Chan,” you say carefully. “What are you doing here?”
“I'm sorry,” he says with a hoarse voice. “I was wrong.”
“Ah, Hayoon.”
“You heard?” he asks, face crumpling a little at the mention of his ex.
“It's-” You pause for a moment, trying to figure out how to put it delicately. "Someone mentioned it to me.”
“You must hate me.” Chan laughs humourlessly. “I know that I do. I was such a fool for not trusting you. I just didn't want to believe that she would do that to me. Stupid, I know. I'm really sorry that I said all those things to you, that I avoided you as if that would change the truth.”
For months, you've been waiting, hoping that Chan would come back to you and apologise. But actually hearing it isn't as satisfying as you thought. In fact, you don't really feel anything at all.
“I want to make it up to you,” Chan says earnestly. “Are you free? We can go for a meal and catch up. I missed you.”
“Uhm,” you say, not quite sure how to respond. You don't want to say yes, but you're scared to lose this opportunity.
“Actually, she's busy,” Hyunjin says. He steps out from behind Chan and wraps an arm around your waist possessively, nudging you behind him in the process. “I think it would be best if you leave.”
Normally you hate it when other people talk for you, but right now you're grateful that Hyunjin appeared. You're not even sure why he's here, although you mentioned that this was your last day on campus, the two of you didn't have plans to hang out.
“Oh.” Chan falters. “Are you two… together?”
“And if we are?” Hyunjin asks challengingly. You've never seen him this defensive before. “Frankly, it's none of your business. I'm tired of listening to your half-hearted apologies that are months too late and I'm pretty sure that Y/n isn't interested in them either.”
“Y/n?” Chan pleads.
“Hyunjin's right, I think that you should go,” you say from where you're still hidden behind Hyunjin. You're glad that you don't have to look him in the eyes. “I can't- I'm heading home today. I have to pack before my train leaves this afternoon.”
“Right,” Chan says thickly. “Sorry. I- I'm sorry, Y/n.”
You lean into Hyunjin's back for support, squeezing your eyes shut as you hear Chan's footsteps trail away. You don't open them for a long time, even when you feel Hyunjin turn around and wrap his arms around you. Instead, you just focus on the steady thump of Hyunjin's heartbeat and try to remember how to breathe.

"Wonhee will be there!" you exclaimed as you tossed your phone away.
Both Hyunjin and Minho looked at you curiously. "Who?" Hyunjin asked.
Minho was quick to hit his arm, causing the man to wince at the touch. "You've met her before, don't act like you don't know who she is."
"I would but I genuinely have no idea."
"Y/N's sister," Chan informed as he joined the three of you with a clipboard in hands. "We saw her at the bar last time we went."
"Right," Hyunjin hummed with a frown.
"Alright," Chan continued. "Hyunjin, we still have the pictures with Lix to take and then your part will be over. Jisung?"
The assistant hurried to his boss and smiled. "Here."
"Could you and Changbin change the background?"
Your best friend let out a grunt. "Again?"
"Do you want me to forgive you or not?" you said with a glare and it was plenty to shut him off and make him join Jisung at the task.
Things were advancing well with the campaign. You had much more positive feedback, even if many still believed you had tried to poison your clientele. Nonetheless, people were loving seeing you and Chan interact in such ways that they would have never thought of seeing ever. Still, he remained very unpleasant towards you, but you weren't any better so it was a fair game.
"Hair and makeup done!" Felix cheered as he walked in the studio, his GoPro pointed towards himself. "Y/N has chosen beautiful colours as you can see," he showed his eye makeup. "And, of course, Chan's new cream was used for my skin."
"Do you ever stop filming?" Jisung rolled his eyes.
"And we have our beloved Jisung who seem to be pretty grumpy this afternoon."
They continued to bicker in the background which made you chuckle as you moved on with sorting products out. You peeked at your checklist to make sure you had everything you needed and began to check the items. It wasn't long after that Chan leaned next to you on the table. With his rolled up sleeves of his black buttoned shirt, he perked an eyebrow as he watched you intensely. You did your best to ignore him but the man was not budging.
"Can't you see I'm busy?" you said between your teeth.
"Busy doing something totally unnecessary. Might I say, Y/N, I am disappointed," he said in a cheeky way.
"I prefer double-checking and being organized, is that so wrong?"
He shrugged. "I just think you're wasting time. Besides, the guys have the makeup on already. What's the point in checking?"
"In case we forgot, we can still put it– Why am I even bothering to explain this to you?" you groaned, dropping the list on the table and walking off.
This might have been the tenth encounter of this sort that you'd had with him today and knowing he was still going to be around until late at night, this was not encouraging in any way. Perhaps backing out and staying at home was a better option.
But having Wonhee as a sister meant she had to force you to come along, especially since you were the one to invite her technically. After you had went back home, washed up and changed, you were walking to the club with your arms linked. Jeongin was the one to change the destination, arguing that it would be more fun than a regular restaurant with alcohol on the side.
"So how many are we going to be exactly?" Wonhee questioned you as you were getting closer to your destination.
Your eyebrows furrowed as you counted in your mind. "Let's see... Well, Bin and Minho obviously so them plus us is four. Jeongin, that makes us five. Chan and his staff, so that's now eight... And with Hyunjin and Felix, that makes us ten," you smiled.
Your sister, however, looked at you doubtfully. "Chan's staff... Does it mean..?"
You chuckled. "Yes, Seungmin will be there."
She stopped on her tracks right away. "You didn't think of telling me that?"
"When I said everyone would be there, I thought it obviously implied Seungmin."
"Y/N, I can't meet him like this!" she shouted while looking down at her outfit.
"You look fine," you rolled your eyes.
Forcefully, you dragged her all the way to the club as she babbled about how ugly she looked — though she was very much adequately dressed for the occasion. As you walked in, it didn't take long for you to spot the tall Hyunjin who was chatting with the one you dreaded to see once again. Chan had, for once, decided to let go of his usual dark attires and wore a tight white shirt with oversized pants. His hair was slicked back and he adorned his ears with silver jewellery. You couldn't deny he looked fine as hell, especially with the lighting that emphasized the veins on his arms. The way he was leaning on the table and taking a few sips of his drink was insanely attractive.
"You're staring," Wonhee commented and you glared at her.
"I spotted Hyunjin, that's all."
She definitely did not believe you and was about to make another remark until her eyes fell upon Seungmin. Instantly, she froze on the spot with a gulp.
"Who's staring now?" you laughed and it was her turn to glare.
"And the Ko sisters have arrived!" Jeongin exclaimed as he came to join you along with Minho, engulfing you two into his embrace. "I managed to reserve a table for everyone."
He led you to where you had previously stared at and didn't let you say a thing before sitting you down next to Chan. You were about to get up and yell at your friend but a hand grabbed your wrist to pull you back down. Again, you were seated and Chan's grasp moved from your wrist to your shoulder.
"What-"
He put a finger on your mouth, shushing you. "There are people around, we're a couple right now."
As you scanned the club, you saw how some people had stopped to greet Hyunjin and Jeongin while others took pictures. Right, you were surrounded with well-known models. You hesitantly snuggled into his embrace before he placed a small peck on the top of your head. It took everything in you to not puke right there and then.
"Get a room," Felix joked as he sat on your other side. "Since when do you kiss her?"
Chan sighed. "It wasn't a kiss. Don't you have more important things to do instead of judging me?"
"I do, you're right. So? Who's paying tonight? I need to get myself something to drink."
Seungmin joined in and took his credit card out. "I don't mind paying this time."
This caused Wonhee's eyes to glow and she rushed to the man. "Seungminnie, could I get something too?"
"Of course," he said with a smirk.
You noticed Minho — who had watched the interaction with much displeasure — rolling his eyes with one hand in his pocket and the other holding his newly bought cocktail. Poor guy.
"Could you please order my drink as well, Felix?" you asked the man as he snatched Seungmin's card out of his hand.
"Yeah, what do you want?"
To this, Chan's eyes darkened at his friend. Before you could give your answer, he spoke for you. "I'll pay for her drink, you may go."
Felix gulped, getting slightly scared of his friend, but nodded before walking to the bar. You scoffed at your fake-lover and removed his arm that laid on your shoulder.
"You really are a pain in the ass," you grunted.
"I should be the one paying for you, don't you think?"
"I can pay for myself."
He scoffed. "You say that now but asked for Felix to get you something with Seungmin's card. You had no issue with that."
"It's Seungmin, not you."
With that, you stood up and headed towards where Minho was as he was the furthest away from the man you despised so much. As he saw you approaching with fuming ears, his eyes widened.
"Woah, don't be mad at me, I did nothing," he hurried to say with his hands up.
"Where's Changbin?"
"No idea, he disappeared when we arrived."
You groaned out of frustration. "Great, it's always when I need him that he disappears."
Minho faked being hurt. "Am I not a good enough? You really prefer Changbin over me?" he cried.
You deadpanned at him. "Shut up, I'm pissed and he's the only one who can calm down. Besides, you're pissed as well, you wouldn't be much help."
"I'm not pissed," he muttered under his breath.
"Yeah, right. Don't tell me seeing my sister all over Seungmin doesn't fill you with anger."
That shut him up real quick and he pouted while sipping on his alcohol. From afar, the two of you looked miserable. You watched people on the dancefloor with a bored stare. It took only a few minutes for Chan to find you again and you couldn’t help but groan again.
“I’m going to find Changbin.”
Minho nodded at your statement as to say “good luck” and you took off. It was hard to walk through the sweaty crowd but, eventually found your best friend discussing with a woman who had definitely drank more than she could handle. He was quick to meet eyes with you and abandon the lady upon seeing how displeased you looked.
“What did I miss?” he asked while you stole his beer, drinking it in one go. “Woah, take it easy!”
“I won’t when this bastard is up in my ass.”
He sighed. “You can’t be saying this here.”
“Why? Because we are in public? Weren’t you the first one to disagree with this?”
“I was but it doesn’t mean I don’t care about how a small thing can ruin you again.”
You scoffed. “I’m only speaking the truth. Now, where can I get a shot?”
Changbin didn’t want to comply to your demands as he knew you would get yourself so drunk to the point you wouldn’t be able to stand. At the same time, you were so stubborn that it was impossible to get in your way sometimes. Felling guilty already, he brought you to the nearest bar and ordered four shots for the two of you. You chugged them not even a second after getting a hold of them. Wincing at the strong liquor, you still ordered one more, and one more after.
“How many has she had?” Jeongin asked in a concerned voice, watching you dance clumsily with Changbin.
“Who?” Chan said as he hadn’t really been observing what was going on.
“Your girlfriend,” Wonhee laughed as she pulled her phone out to capture the moment in a video. “Oh, she’s so going to hate me for this.”
Chan’s head shot up from his nearly empty glass to try and find you. When he did, his eyes widened at the sight. With your rosy cheeks, you were smiling admirably to your best friend who was trying his best to keep you up on your feet. He was glad you were not alone but the way you were holding to one another didn’t look as if you were only friends. It bothered him. Only because of your arrangement, of course. Before he was thinking, his body got up from his seat and he walked towards you. Without saying a thing, he separated you from Changbin and took over with holding you. You were probably too drunk to even process the change of dance partner, but Changbin only removed himself silently. He wouldn’t bother with protesting anyway; Chan’s eyes were enough to make him want to pee himself right there and then.
“How many did you drink?” he said into your ear, and you shivered.
“I don’t know.”
“I think you had too much.”
You pouted at him. “It’s your fault.”
“Mine? You were the one storming off.”
“Because you were annoying,” you cried, which made him sigh.
He dragged you all the way back to the table where the others were drinking reasonably. He sat you next to your sister, but she wasn’t much of a help. If anything, she was only laughing at your physical state and taking pictures. Sighing again, he took it upon himself to get you water to sober up. You already seemed to be a little better.
“They’re selling cakes with sparklers if it’s your birthday!” Felix said enthusiastically while pointing at the corner of the club. “We should get some.”
At this, you pushed the glass of water away from you and clapped. “Oh, for sure!”
Chan mentally cursed at himself before glaring at Felix. “Do you really want to fake a birthday only to get some cheap sparklers?”
You slapped his chest and his eyes widened from the contact. “They’re pretty.”
“So am I and you have me for free.”
Felix and Seungmin held back a laugh while you simply shrugged. “I’m getting some whether you like it or not.”
Before he could stop you, you were off with Felix, Seungmin and Wonhee to get sparklers. Who the fuck were selling these things in a club anyway? It was bound to be a disaster. He wondered if he should at least follow to keep an eye on you but the decision was quickly made when he saw you stumble on your feet, almost falling.
You felt a pair of arms holding you and you frowned. "Why do you have to act like I can't do things on my own?" you whined.
"Y/N, you almost fell face first."
Grumbling disapprovals, you still grabbed onto him for safety until you were at the cake counter. Felix was the one to discuss with the girl in charge of the cakes and they argued a bit as she noticed it was none of you's birthday. As they keot on bickering, Chan rolled his eyes as he knew he had to step in.
"Excuse me?" he cleared his throat grabbing the woman's attention.
The moment she saw he had just spoken, her posture straightened. "Mr. Bang," she almost whispered. "What an honour to have you here!"
"I understand my friends do not fit into your criterias for the cakes but I swear they only really want to play with the sparklers."
"I'm sorry, sir, but sparklers in a club-"
"I'll take them outside for when we lit them up, I promise."
By magic, this did the trick and the woman gave you about thirty of them. Seungmin went to get the others and you all went outside to lit them up. You, Felix and Jeongin were the most excited about them while Chan and Changbin were the most worried. Nonetheless, you took Minho's lighter from him as soon as he took it out of his pocket and hurried yourself to lit your sparklers up.
You admired them for what seemed to be an eternity until you ran out of them. Hyunjin declared this was enough for the night as he still had work to do the following day. The rest ended up agreeing and you all walked home.
"I'll take her," Chan said to Changbin who was not willing to let you go.
"I'm the assigned person to take her home."
"It'll be weird if a man other than her lover does it."
Changbin, for once, didn't budge. "Listen, Bang. I get you two have this thing for publicity but she is in a vulnerable state right now. While I do get your point, you're not the one who has known her for eight years and been there when she needed someone the most. Don't think because you are supposedly her boyfriend that you get to take this from us."
And he left with you.
This might have come from a deeper place than simply getting you home but Changbin had had enough. He couldn't risk you getting hurt by this man. Especially not when he had noticed how you were warming up to him.

Fake Boyfriends & Melted Ice Cream
Tumblr media
Request: I’m super excited that you have requests open! 🥰 May I have either Yoongi or Bang Chan pretending to be your boyfriend to help you out of a tight spot, and if a second prompt is allowed, include the quote about needing to stop meeting like that. If only one, then just the pretending to be your boyfriend. Please, thank you, and wishing you all the best life has to offer! 😽
Prompt:
7) "We really need to stop meeting like this."
13) Your bias pretends to be your partner to get you out of a sticky situation.
Pairing: Stray Kids Bang Chan x Reader
Genre: Fluff
.
If there was a tenth circle of Hell, it would be the grocery store.
Your shoulders were bunched up nearly to your ears as you navigated your cart down one of the endless aisles in search of laundry detergent. Things were too expensive and there were entirely too many people clogging up the areas where you needed to be. Suddenly your clothes were too tight and the sounds were much too loud. This whole experience was a sensory disaster.
Finally eying your usual brand, you reached up on your tiptoes to grab it. Struggling for a moment, you heaved a sigh before giving a helpless little jump.
"Need some help?" an oddly familiar voice asked.
Turning around, you narrowed your eyes at the man dressed completely in black. He kept his hat pulled low over his face, causing you to pause for a moment and wrack your brain over where you had heard him before.
"Ah!" you gasped, the familiarity clicking. "Chris, how are you?"
He smirked before pushing his hat up a bit. "Good, good, just here grabbing ice cream for the kids."
You chuckled to yourself. If anyone else had been eavesdropping, they would have thought he meant his actual children, but you knew better. You had met Chan nearly a year ago when you had moved to Korea. Doing a few English tutoring stints with his company, you had bumped into him a dozen times. Of course he had never really needed your help with the language, but he was always one for kindness and small talk.
"Such a noble father," you grinned. Looking back up to your original task, you turned back toward him, and furrowed your brows. "No offense or anything, but-"
"Y/N," he said simply, placing his hand in a stop motion between you. "I may not be tall, but I am tall enough."
Smothering a giggle, you nodded as the man walked forward and concentrated on the laundry detergent in question. Looking around to make sure there were no store attendants to chastise him, he hopped up on the lowest shelf and leveraged the extra height. Reaching as far as he could, he finally snagged the container you needed and hopped down.
"Thank you," you hummed, plopping it into your shopping basket.
"No worries," he smiled easily. "We really need to stop meeting like this, yeah? We should go to a proper lunch some time."
"Oh," you squeaked, a bit dazed. In all of the one-off conversations you had with Chan, you never thought he would want to go anywhere beyond that. "Yeah, sure. That would be great."
"Cool," he said with a nod. "We'll sort that out then. I'll let you get back to it."
"Thanks again," you nodded, your brain in a bit of a fog. Bang Chan really just asked you for a lunch date. No, not a date, your brain halted. He asked you as a colleague to go to lunch with him in a totally platonic way because he apparently enjoyed your presence.
"That's still a pretty big win," you muttered to yourself, trying not to dive head first into delusions. Chan was objectively one of the most handsome people you had ever encountered. Disregarding the whole idol part, even without the makeup and hair, he was adorable. More importantly though, his personality was gold star. You had never met someone more open and caring to those he hardly even knew.
Enjoying the momentary high that came along with a positive interaction, you swerved toward the next aisle only to crash into someone doing the same.
"Hey!" a woman gasped, taking a step back. Shaking your head a bit, you did the same.
"I am so sorry, I wasn't paying atten-" you began, but finally made eye contact with the collision. Maybe it wasn't too late to commit a hit and run...
"Y/N," she purred, her voice turning sickeningly sweet. "It's been so long!"
"It has," you cringed, looking the girl up and down. Lynn had been one of your best friends when you had first moved to Korea ("had" being the key word in that sentence.) Just as you thought the two of you couldn't have grown any closer, she had decided it would be an appropriate time to start dating your boyfriend.
In and of itself, it was something that wasn't a huge deal. Or at least it wouldn't have been if she had waited for you to actually break up with him first. Nothing like a gut punch to your heart by two people you thought you had trusted to really make you feel alive.
"How have you been?" she asked. You took a deep breath before responding. You could humor her, it wouldn't kill you.
"I've been great," you hummed. "What about you?"
"Oh, amazing," she grinned disingenuously. You nodded, counting down the seconds until you could gracefully step away from the conversation.
"Oh, good," you said, trying not to to frown. "It was great seeing-"
"We just got engaged!" she gasped, throwing her hand in the air. "Isn't that great?"
"Of course you did," you grimaced. "That was quick. Congratulations, really."
"Jae's around here somewhere. I'm sure he would love to see you!" she smiled, glancing over her shoulder. The dread quickly began to pool in your stomach. You simply could not do this.
"Baby!" Lynn gasped, signaling over to a tall frame you were much too acquainted with. "Baby, Y/N is here!"
Snapping his head around immediately, his eyes locked on yours. Now would be a great time for the ground to open up and swallow you whole.
As he came closer, you could have sworn the temperature had changed.
"Y/N," Jae smiled. "How are you?"
"She's good!" Lynn said, wrapping nearly her whole body around his. It was very anaconda-esque and weirdly impressive. "I just told her we got engaged!"
Jae looked pained as he glanced from his new fiance to you. As he searched your face for any sort of reaction, you could almost see an embarrassed expression peak through.
"Y/N!" Lynn said, snapping you back to the conversation. "We should get dinner and catch up, don't you think?"
"Oh," Jae said, shaking his head immediately. "I'm sure Y/N is very busy."
"You would make time, wouldn't you?" Lynn asked innocently. "It could be a double date! Unless you don't have someone.."
Bitch.
You took a deep breath and tried to fortify your patience. You could get through this.
"Actually, I-"
"Lovie," a voice sounded from around the corner. Without looking, you felt an arm snake around your waist and tuck you into it's side. Trying to tap down the panic, you glanced to Chan who had suddenly appeared. Ice cream in hand, he sat it gingerly in your basket. "I told you to stay close!
Let me take this, it must be heavy," he hummed, taking the basket and placing it in the hand that wasn't preoccupied with holding you.
Glancing up in mock surprise, he looked back and forth between Jae and Lynn. "Who's this?"
"Oh, uh..." you trailed, your brain trying to catch up with the situation. Was Chan really taking the time to bail you out? "This is Lynn, and her fiance, Jae."
You could see Jae swallow hard after your explanation. He deserved to feel uncomfortable. Plus, how would you ever introduce him as your ex boyfriend?
"Nice to meet you both!" Chan grinned.
"Y/N," Lynn said, the smile slipping from her face as she sized up your "boyfriend." "Who's this?"
"Oh, sorry," you said quickly. "This is Chan."
"Channie," Lynn said, keeping her tone cool as she swallowed him with her eyes. "Is it okay if I call you that?"
"I would prefer if you wouldn't," Chan said, towing the line between a smile and a cringe.
Lynn immediately fell into silence, causing Jae to perk up. "I didn't know Y/N had started seeing someone new. How'd you two meet?"
Of course he wouldn't. It's not like the two of you were actually talking.
"Work," Chris chimed. "Y/N teaches English at the company I work for."
"What company is that?" Jae asked, quirking a brow.
"I work in the music industry," Chan said patiently. "Producing and a few other things."
Understatement of the year.
"Y/N and I used to be close!" Lynn pouted. "We definitely need to meet up now!"
Chan looked at you knowingly before pulling you closer. You were basically melted into his side at this point. You couldn't lie to yourself though, the contact felt good, especially coming from him. Your head swam as you attempted to grapple with the situation while simultaneously trying to calm your speeding heart rate. He tended to have that effect on you on a normal day, let alone when you were pretending to be together.
"I dunno," Chan said finally. "Y/N would you feel comfortable with that?'
You glanced up at him through your lashes. Popping your mouth open to answer, you weren't exactly sure what to say.
Chan chuckled before pressing a kiss into your hair. A KISS. INTO YOUR HAIR. You tried to quiet the mental screaming so you could hear him speak.
"My Y/N is pretty overwhelmed with their schedule these days," he said quietly. "I'm not sure if they would be able to shift things around for us to all meet."
"You would make time!" Lynn insisted. "There's so much we need to hear about you two! This is a total surprise."
"Lynn," Jae said sternly. It was interesting to see him issue the brat a warning.
"What!" she gasped. "I'm just terribly surprised! You never seemed like one to go out with someone like him!"
She appraised Chan again with greedy eyes. Apparently she didn't think you could pull someone successful or good looking...but then...
Jae looked down at Lynn in dismay. "She went out with me."
You looked to Chan who was eating up the scene in front of him. He gave a squeeze to your hip and attempted to choke off his laughter.
"I know, baby," Lynn whined. "Don't get defensive. I just meant-"
"Well, our ice cream seems to be melting," Chan hummed as he looked forlornly at the basket. "We better get going. It was nice meeting you!"
"Y/N! I'll text you!" Lynn insisted.
"I really hope you already have her blocked," Chan whispered into your ear as he steered you away.
"Everywhere," you nodded. "Even the Facebook she uses to recruit people into her multi-level marketing scheme."
"She seems like the type," he muttered, glancing over his shoulder at the couple now behind you. You could still hear them quietly bickering. "I really hope you don't mind me stepping in. I was coming by again to ask you something and may have accidentally eavesdropped a bit."
"Accidentally?"
"Alright, full on eavesdropped because I have never heard someone so..."
"So?"
"Absolutely fucking foul."
"Chris!" you gasped, trying not to laugh too loudly. Even though the two of you had gone toward the front of the grocery, he still had his arm protectively around you.
"Seriously!" he said, his eyes wide. "They're miserable!"
"I don't mind you stepping in at all," you laughed, allowing this moment to wash over you. It was nice to know that someone actually cared enough to save you in a less than ideal situation. Let alone that person being Bang Chan.
And had you daydreamed too close to the sun or did he actually kiss your head at one point?
"Okay," Chan nodded. "I never want to do anything that would make you feel uncomfortable, but at that point, I think I was the lesser of two evils."
You nodded as the two of you finally reached the register. "No, no evil at all. I very much appreciated it."
Chan smiled before pulling away from you. The sudden absence of contact immediately plunged you into reality. "What was your question by the way? That you were coming back to ask?"
"Oh," Chan hummed, rubbing the back of his neck. "I wasn't sure if it was too forward...but...how do you feel about caramel swirl ice cream?"
"I mean, not negatively," you laughed.
"I've got two spoons," he said, tilting his head to the side. "One of them could be yours."
If it were physically possible to have a sentence stop your heart, that one would be it.
"Sure," you nodded, not actually sure at all if you had even heard him correctly. "That sounds like fun."
"Great," Chan grinned. "Maybe if you ask nicely we can see where it tastes better, from the carton or my lips?"
Your eyes grew wide as you openly gaped at him. "What?"
"Kidding!" he laughed, throwing his hands into the air. "Unless you aren't in which case I'm totally serious."
You opened your mouth and immediately closed it. Giving the barest nod, you could see the tension relax from his shoulders.
"Good, good," he nodded, focusing more intently on getting his items on the conveyor belt. You could see the tips of his ears blazing bright red. "If I'm going to be your fake boyfriend, I just need some experience, that's all."
You continued to stare at him, only croaking out a laugh after a moment of silence.
"Good talk," he grinned sheepishly. "Remind me to bring it up again later."

Into the Chaos - Bang Chan
Tumblr media
The minute you were introduced to Stray Kids, you couldn't remember why you had been so nervous to meet them. Sure, it was a little chaotic, but that's what you were expecting. You'd heard enough stories from your boyfriend to have a rough idea what you were walking into. Knowing how much they meant to him made you so eager to get on with them but not once did you have to fake anything.
Felix was the first to greet you, striking up a nice normal conversation, but Seungmin was quick to ruin it when he walked in.
"Oh my God, you're real?!"
Beside you, Chan's head lowered, and you could just sense the exasperated eye-roll.
"The old man really got a girlfriend," he announced to the others as they appeared too.
You couldn't help but smile. It felt nice knowing that they were just being themselves around you.
Despite Han initially joining Seungmin in teasing their hyung, Chan was quickly ignored in favour of getting to know you. Not that he minded, it gave him the chance to just stand back and observe you interacting and bonding with the Kids. He'd told you plenty of times before that he was sure you'd get along with them, but now, actually seeing it, he felt his heart swell with happiness. He loved all of you, and the fact that you all got on meant he could bring you along to things he was doing with them, so he would get to see you even more. It was like this just confirmed that you were the right person for him. You were going to fit so perfectly into his life, even if it was a busy one.
After a moment lost in thought, the sound of your laughter pulled him back. Without making a conscious decision, his feet carried him towards you.
Suddenly, you felt his arms around your waist.
"Hey," he said in a soft sing-song voice.
"Hey," you replied, placing your hands over his. "You ok?"
"Just slightly worried I'm going to lose you to these idiots," he laughed, but you could tell he wasn't entirely joking.
"Don't be," you told him, bringing your hand up to poke at one of his dimples. "You're my man, not them."
"Thanks," he mumbled, pecking your cheek. "I told you you'd get on with them."
"And now you're complaining we get on too well!"
"Ew, PDA!" Hyunjin interrupted.
Chan let out a laugh and shook his head. You smiled too before reaching up and placing a hand on his cheek, guiding him to face you. You then quickly pressed your lips to his, earning many protests from the other members. There was a satisfied grin on your lips as you pulled away.
"If they're going to tease us, I can do it right back," you pointed out.
"Oh no, what have I done?" he replied, sarcastically. At least he knew you could hold your own when they pulled you into their shenanigans now.

Tumblr media
Word count: 2.8k
warnings: praise kink, pet names (baby, channie, sir, good girl) unprotected sex (be smart.), swearing, choking kink(chan), jealous chan, one sided enemies to lovers.
A/N: this took me so long to write omfg. let's all give a round of applause for me 💅
You didn't want to be at this party. And he could tell. From the way you sat nervously in the corner to the way you looked mortified when anyone you didn't know tried to start up small talk with you.
He knew he shouldn't be watching you. He just, wanted to make sure you were okay. It's not as though you would appreciate his efforts, though.
You hated him. You hated how one of his dimples was deeper then the other, how good his blond hair looked with his dark eyebrows, his Australian accent that made people swoon. All of it, It was all an act.
Some people wonder whether or not the devil is real. You think he is, and he was put on this earth in a mortal form. Taking over none other then Christopher fucking Bang. God, even his name is attractive.
It pissed you off immensely that girls were trying to flirt with him. And it pissed you off even more that he couldn't care less, as his eyes were glued to you.
You squinted while looking around the room for your roommate, Felix. You loved being his roomate. He would bake for you, invite you to spend holidays with his family, let you vent to him. All under one condition.
Once a week you would have to force yourself out into the world and go to a party hosted by one of his friends. Usually Jisung, who you have grown quite accustomed to. He called it your "Weekly dose of socialization."
He cared about you. It was sweet, really. But, you weren't a big fan of it. Yes his friends are nice but so is laying in bed and watching TV.
At least that's what you thought at first. That was before you met him. Christopher Bang, most people call him Chan, a few Chris. But everyone all has one thing in common. They adore him. Well, everyone except you. You knew behind that stupidly adorable laugh and that dumb smile he got on his face when he saw someone he knew, you knew that he was a liar.
And thats because you fell for his lies.
Around a year ago when you first moved in with Lix, his friends would come over often. At first you didn't interact with them except for a casual bow everytime, but one of them stood out to you. He would come into your room and start talking to you whenever he came over, inviting you to come join the group.
You shouldn't have fallen for it. No one as high on the social ladder as him would fall for someone as antisocial as you. It just doesn't work, you should've seen that. You can't blame him, if you think about it.
The girl you caught him with when you were on your way to surprise him was beautiful, You just wish he hadn't led you on. It would've hurt less if he had told you he wasn't interested instead of you catching him with his tongue down someone else's throat.
You never spoke to him again. Actually that's not true, you have, telling him to go fuck himself or eat a bag of dicks whenever you saw him. Mature, I know. Other then that you haven't explained what you saw or even let him try to save himself. Because it wasn't worth it.
You had more important things in life to deal with. Like the importance of watching TV with your cats, while eating Felix's brownies! Nothing can go wrong in the comfort of your bed. It's a safe haven.
You looked at Chan, making eye contact before grimacing and looking away. "Gross. Men." You whispered to no one in particular. Jisung basically bolted your direction when he saw you. "My favorite gremlin! How are you?" He said with his over enthusiastic voice. "I'm would be better if you stopped talking to me, British boy." You responded, smiling at him.
"You're so kind to me." He fake sniffles, laying down on the bench you were sat on, putting his head on your lap.
"You look bored." He states, looking up at you. "Wow, Really? Wouldn't have ever known if you hadn't told me." You started brushing through his hair with your fingers untangling it, completely unaware of Chan's huff of annoyance as he saw your actions.
"This is why you're my favorite! Anyway back to ME, I'm great thanks for asking, I might be a little itty bit drunk but I might not be. Who knows!" He closes his eyes, giggling slightly whenever you would pull at his hair.
"I didn't ask about you, nerd." You groaned in faux annoyance, trying not to smile as he looked up at you, offended.
"I'm hurt, Y/N. That was so rude, you're so annoying." He swat your hand away from his hair and sat up, turning the other direction.
"I know you think I'm annoying, but in reality I'm just hot and irresistible." You flip your hair and roll your as eyes as Han chuckles.
"You're such a idiot." He smiles, laying his head on your shoulder this time, to glare at everyone from the corner.
You smile as you see your friend, Yunjin walking towards you, dragging someone along with her. "This is Chaewon, my unofficial wife!" She stated enthusiastically, smiling at the two you. Jisung looks up, suddenly interested.
"Wait... WEREN'T YOU IN I*ZONE-" Jisung starts, you immediately cover his mouth to stop him from embarrassing you. "He meant it's nice to meet you." I smiled and bowed kindly. Grimacing when the demon you called your friend licked your hand, forcing you to remove it from his mouth.
"Yeah! I meant hi!" He smiles, giggling when you wipe your hand on his shirt, maybe you went over his abs on purpose, maybe you didn't.
Chan managed to excuse himself from the one sided conversation the lady in front of him was having, he stopped paying attention to what she was saying when he saw you.
He walked over, looking at you and smiling slightly before looking to Jisung, "Hey! How've you been man?" He plops down next to him, nodding at Chaewon and Yunjin. "I'm alright. Tired, but alright." Jisung smiled back at him, laying his head back on your shoulder.
He knew. He knew what he was doing, he had too. Why else was he making eye contact with Chan while you were messing around with his hair some more.
You looked at Jisung, then at Chan, hitting Jisung's forehead lightly. "I'm gonna go get something to drink." You muttered. Getting up, Yunjin getting up to follow you, dragging Chaewon along. "He's such a dick! He always comes over just to annoy you I swear! That man gets on my nerves." Yunjin said, looking back just to glare at Chan.
Chaewon nods, "I don't know what your relationship is with him, but he's been staring all night. Thought it was weird because you didn't seem interested.." She says, grabbing a cup and getting some coke.
"It's because I'm not. I was at one point, found out he's a player and now we're here." You stated, smiling when Chaewon handed you the cup.
"Did you ever tell him that you didn't want anything to do with him anymore? Maybe he's just oblivious to the obvious cold shoulder you've been giving him.. and because he's a man." Chaewon said as she handed Yunjin her drink before getting her own.
"Maybe. I just don't really owe him one." You responded, checking your phone once again.
"Dude you waiting for someone? You keep checking that phone like you are." Yunjin asked, suddenly interested in the conversation. "Nope. Checking the time, Felix said we could leave at 11:30." You stated, looking around the room for your roomate.
You sighed when you didn't see him, excusing yourself from Yunjin and Chaewon's argument about whether or not flaming hot cheetos are better than the original and walking to the door leading outside.
You unlocked your phone, seeing you missed a text from him. You groaned as you read the message.
lix :): I'm so so sorry Y/N but I'm leaving with someone and he's rlly cute and omg ufhdidjwbg *!&$>*$?×,!$* I'll call you a Uber if you want, otherwise you can ask Chan to drive you home !! :)
me: you owe me you stupid australian. your doing my laundry for a month, fuck head.
lix:): love you <33333
"Hi.." Said someone behind you, making you jump slightly before your eyes softened.
"I know you don't really owe me anything, but I really need a ride, Chan." You stated, avoiding as much small talk as you could.
"Uh, yeah I'll drive you." He smiled awkwardly, reaching in his back pocket to make sure he didn't leave anything before walking towards his car, you following behind him.
"You haven't had anything to drink right?" You asked nervously, you didn't want to get into a car with sober him let alone drunk him.
He shook his head, opening the passenger door when you two reached his car, smiling slightly when you got in.
"Thank you. You remember where I live right?" You asked, looking over at him."I think so. Just haven't been 'round in a while." He nodded to himself, starting to drive. The first few minutes were awkward, a joke every here and there, Chan looking at you when he thought you couldn't notice, you staring at him whenever he smiled at one of the shitty jokes you made.
That's when he asked the question.
"Why did you stop talking to me, Y/N? I really liked spending time with you, you know." He frowned slightly, looking over at you when you reached a red light.
You sighed, looking down at your lap.
"I saw you kissing someone else, Chan. We went on 2 dates, you flirted with me all the time, you asked me to be your girlfriend even! Then I came over to tell you I made my decision and that I wanted us to be official and I saw her. It sucked and I knew I would start crying if I tried to explain what I saw so I decided to ignore your existence." You said in one breath, inhaling once you were done. Damn you could be a rapper.
He looked back at the road, expressionless.
"Do you want me to explain myself? Because I will. I really like you, Y/N. And if I have to explain what happened then that's what I'll do." He stated, driving once the light turned green.
"An explanation wouldn't be horrible." You mumbled, fidgeting with your nails.
He looked over at you for a moment, before sighing. "She was a friend. She invited herself over because her boyfriend had just dumped her, I comforted her, she took that as an invitation I think? She kissed me and I assume that's what you saw. Afterwards I told her I wasn't interested and we promised each other never to speak about it again." He states, reaching your apartment complex, parking and then looking over at you.
"I would never purposely hurt you, Y/N." He added.
"I feel kinda stupid now." You joked, trying to lighten the mood. "I'm sorry I assumed you would do that, Chan. You don't really seem like that kind of person." You smiled, opening your door and getting out.He smiled, opening the apartment door for you and standing outside. Waiting for your next move.
"Do you uh- do you wanna come up?" You asked, avoiding eye contact in the embarrassing case he said no."Yeah. I would like that a lot." He reached his hand out towards you, signaling you to take it, giggling when you do.
"You still remember our apartment number? Creep." You smiled, walking up the stairs, you started swinging your hands back and forth.
"I came here a few times when you were ignoring me, I almost knocked on your door but I ended up backing out." He looked down at your intertwined hands, his ears and nose turning a light red. He looked up as he recognized you two were on your floor.
"Pussy." You said jokingly, reaching into your purse to grab your key, unlocking your door when you reached it."
"You're so rude. I can't belive I like you. My taste concerns me." He chuckles, face softening as you laugh.
You look at him, seeing hes looking back at you. "Can I kiss you, Chan?" You ask, a sudden seriousness in your tone.
"I don't really think you deserve it." He smiled teasingly, dropping a hand to your waist and pulling you his direction.
"Shut up." You said, cupping his cheek and kissing him. He immediately reciprocated, putting his hand on the nape of your neck to deepen the kiss.
You whimper into the kiss when he bites your lip, he reached down to your thigh squeezing it before tapping it, indicating you should jump. You did, wrapping your legs around his waist as he carried you to your bedroom, you reaching behind him to shut the door.
He placed you on the bed, starting to kiss down your neck as you grabbed his hair. He lifted for a second, "You're so pretty. So fucking pretty." He said, making you sit up so he could pull off your shirt. He sat back for a minute admiring you. He smirked at the way you shrunk under his gaze.
"I'm gonna fuck you so good, baby." He smiled up at you, pulling your pants down you legs and quickly taking off his shirt.
He immediately started kissing your stomach, slowly traling his way down to your thighs, biting them gently.
You traced your fingers up his arm, digging your nails into his bicep when he starts kissing your clothed cunt. "More. Sir, please..Fuck I need more!" You started moaning, not comprehending what you were saying.
He groaned against your cunt, starting to pull off your panties, as you reach up to unclasp your bra.
"Fuck call me that again." He said, immediately attaching his mouth to your neck, making his way down to your breasts. You moaned, intertwining your fingers in his hair and pulling when he got to your nipple, taking it into his mouth and sucking slightly.
You grabbed at his pants, attempting to pull them down, failing miserably because of the angle. He stopped you, taking down his pants and boxers in one.
You moaned when you saw him fully, cock already hard and leaking pre-cum. He smirked at you, kissing you before pulling back.
"Condoms?" He asked, you looked at him, mentally cursing yourself.
"I don't have any..." You frowned. This is what you get for being bitchless you guess.
"I can go raid Lixs' drawers. Hold on, baby." He said, starting to pull his boxers back up.
"Or you can just fuck me raw." You said, suprising yourself with the amount of confidence you had in your tone.
He groaned at your words, putting a hand against your throat."You really know just what to say, huh?" He started, "Oh wait, you can't answer." He chuckles, leaning down to kiss your jawline one more time.
"You're so fucking adorable. And you're all mine. I'm gonna fuck you everyday until the only person's name you remember is mine." He said, sudden seriousness in his voice. He started teasing your entrance with his cock, your arousal already acting as lubrication.
He moaned as he pushed inside you, "Fuck you're tight, baby. Feel so good." He said, rubbing your cheek with his thumb as he tightened his grip around your neck.
He started thrusting into you, grabbing your thighs and pushing them to your chest so he could hit your sweet spot, cooing mockingly when you let out a whimper.
"Poor baby.. Does it feel too good?" He asked in fake sympathy, smiling when you nodded vigorously.
"Such a good girl, My good girl." He groaned, lifting his hand from your waist to rub your clit. He picked up his pace, his breathing becoming more rapid.
"I've waited for this for so long baby. Im fucking obsessed with you." He grunted, looking at your face and seeing your eyes shut tight.
"Cum? Please?" You asked with what little voice you had. He smiled at you, letting go of your neck so he could hear you moan as you came.
"Whenever you want, Baby. Whenever you want." He said softly, he reached down and intertwined your hands, squeezing them reassuringly.
"Thank you! Fuck, Thank you, sir." You started stringing together your words, arching your back off the bed.
He moaned your name as you came, his high immediately following yours, rubbing your thighs to try and soothe you. He laid down next to you when both of your highs turned into sensitivity.
The second you came back to reality, you immediately started laughing, Chan looked over confused,
"What? Was it bad?" He asks, nervousness apparent on his face.
"I'm obsessed with you! Oh my god, Babygirl." You said jokingly biting your lip and trying not to laugh again.
"Oh, shut up! Ms. Cum, Please." He said smiling over at you, reaching his hand over to brush the hair out of your face.
"You were going all Darth vader on me. you got a choking kink, Channie?" You smiled, raising a eyebrow. He started getting out of bed and heading towards you kitchen.
"Wowwww. You really slept with me for my food. We live in a society-" Your words were cut off as he returned with a bottle of water for you.
"Oh. Nevermind. Thanks!"

MINORS DO NOT INTERACT. 18+ CONTENT WARNINGS: SMUT, CORRUPTION KINK, ENEMIES TO LOVERS TROPE, HATE(?)SEX, BULLYING, OVERALL JUST TOXIC BEHAVIOUR, QUICKIE IMPORTANT NOTE: I do not support nor romanticize bullying whatsoever, it's only for the plot of the story. I also do not actually think Chan would bully you, it is also for the plot.
READER IS THE 9TH MEMBER OF STRAY KIDS
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"What the fuck are you wearing Y/N." Chan said as you passed him. "None of your fucking beeswax Channie." You said with a fake tone. As you walked away from him you flipped him off causing a scoff to fall from his lips.
"Yeah, well you look like shit." He yelled.
"And you don't?"
Chan had bullied you since the first time he laid eyes on you when you were both trainees. You don't recall ever doing anything to piss him off, and you used to just take his insults but you recently started sticking up for yourself since you would be sharing a dorm with him.
At the moment, you were getting some choreography down in the dance studio. You had originally gone there to escape Chan and his salt on wound insults, but it seemed you weren't going to be getting that relief as he was walking through the dance studio doors. He had an apparent look of annoyance as he crossed the threshold of the door.
"What the hell are you doing here." Chan sneered.
You chose the best route and ignored him as you continued practicing. Once you got to a point where you were done you started packing up your stuff.
"You think you can call that good work? Shut the fuck up and come here." He demanded.
You were beyond confused but dropped your stuff and walked over. Chan suddenly grabbed your hips.
"When doing this move, make sure you roll your hips and snap it forward." He said as he performed the action with you. You begrudgingly thanked him and took off for the door. You went back to you and Chan's shared dorm room and took a shower to wash all the days hard work and sweat. When you got out of the shower and had gotten dressed, you laid down on your bed and scrolled through your phone.
You could just never escape Chan because just as you had laid down he entered your guy's room. You couldn't handle being around him so you got up and was about to make your way to Changbin's room and hangout with him. Almost instinctively, Chan reached his hand out to grab your wrist.
"Why do you always leave when I'm around"
"Isn't it obvious Chan? I don't want to be around you. I don't need you telling me I dress like a slut who shops at goodwill, or that I will never amount to anything. How guy's just stare at my tits because they are the only decent looking thing on my whole body. I don't need any of that shit. I hate you." You yelled at him.
His eyes softened for a moment before his glare hardened.
"You don't mean that." He said agitatedly.
"Uh- Yeah I d-" he caught you off with a kiss.
"Y/N I never meant any of the things I said to you, I only ever said them because I was scared. i was scared that if I wasn't the just the most dickhead possible, that maybe you'd think I'm boring."
You stared at him dumbfounded. Because your bully for 7 years just suddenly kissed you and told you it was all an act. And you still had feelings for this douche.
"Don't answer now, just let me show you how I feel." With that he picked you up and laid you down on his bed and kissed you. You trailed your hands on every muscle you could find earning a low moan from him.
"Holy shit Y/N I need to fuck you." He moaned as he ground against you. It could have just been hormones. Or maybe you were lonely, but you got wet.
Well Y/n, fuck it, he's hot
You tore off his shirt from his sweaty body and started untying his sweats. He helped and took off his sweats. He grabbed your hand and palmed himself using your hand.
"Fuck, I have to be somewhere in 5 minutes. Think you can cum by then?" he smirked.
You scoffed, "Obviously, I don't know about you though."
He took that as a challenge and began to push it in.
"FUCK Y/N you feel to good, to good, I don't even have to move and I'm already leaking."
His words made you feel a sense of control as you ground against him begging for him to move.
"Yeah, yeah, hold on baby be patient, I'll move soon." He said with a fucked out expression even though you guys had just started. He eventually started moving and rammed into in an attempt to use up the last 3 minutes you guys had. "Fuck, babe. Mh Chan, yes, yes, yes!" You moaned. He was hitting at the most perfect angle rubbing your clit while hitting your G-spot. You released and squeezed around him cuing his realease. "Mhh Y/N, You're mine. You've been mine." He said as he rode out this high. He pulled out and glanced at his watch. He pressed a quick kiss onto your lips and forehead before rushing to get his clothes on as he ran out the door.
"You are now my girlfriend bye love you!" he scrambled as he ran down the hall.
"Sure, Channie." You whispered.
I'll have better Chan fics in the future. I was just writing down whatever came to mind.
Not even a goodbye - Bang Chan
Hi lovelies!
I finally finished the short Bang Chan story! If you are new here, welcome! I like to write short stories off the pictures Bang Chan post on Instagram.
Not going to lie....this one may or may not break your heart. I might do a part two...and as you might know, if you persuade me enough, I will write a part two. 😅 I hope you enjoy this story and don't hate me too much. I did write this in Chan's POV, so enjoy! 🥰
Paring: Bang Chan x reader, Bang Chan x Y/n, Bang Chan x She/her
Genre: Stray Kids fan fiction, Bang Chan fan fiction, Bang Chan POV
Warning: very little cussing, might make you sad
Tumblr media
The weather tonight is actually really nice out, I could wear a jacket without me dying from heat stroke. It was actually perfect...although, what was happening with my girlfriend was anything but that.
I sat down on the steps, waited and waited for her to show up to the park we always meet at, right by the river where we shared our first kiss. I remember being beyond nervous, shaking afraid I would bump my head against hers. But the second our lips touched these fireworks went off, feeling this tingle that shot through my entire body.
I would do anything to have that feeling with her again. But instead I'm now here, seeing if she shows up. We had a fight last week about something so dumb that it shouldn't have been a fight in the first place.
Her and I are alike, so our anger overtook our words, saying things we both shouldn't have. And because of it, she and I haven't talked since then. Although, I asked if she could meet me here so we could talk things over. She agreed right away but right now she's over an hour late.
I sat looking at the sun setting, the sky turning dark blue with purple tones and the city lights turning on, reflecting onto the river.
I couldn't take waiting anymore, so I moved my restless body towards the fence, gripping it tightly and checking my phone every five seconds.
I heard people laughing as they walked by, saw joggers running, enjoying the night air. But the thing that hurt most was seeing couples holding hands walking by with huge smiles.
I was envy, I missed that because right now my heart feels as if it's ready to jump out and crawl into a bush or jump into the water.
Pulling out my phone again...nothing...is she really not going to show even though she said she would? Is she that mad at me? I felt as if I was losing my mind, I had to text her but I was afraid to bother her.
I opened up her text, my fingers hovering above my screen, but there was something holding me back. If I text her I might push her away and she'll really not show up. But another part is saying you should, maybe she's stuck at work.
The last thought won and before I could stop myself I typed up my message and sent it to her.
Me: Hi, just checking up on you. I want to make sure that you're okay. If you don't want to meet tonight that's totally fine.
I wanted to desperately call her baby girl or my love, it hurt so much to not type it. It felt like holding in a sneeze but way worse.
I placed my phone back in my pocket and sat back down on the steps, contemplating everything. I took off my glasses and hung them on my shirt so I could rub my eyes. I can't believe we got into that stupid fight, we both let it go way too far. I should have stopped it but my big mouth just had to keep on going.
When I pulled my palms off my eyes, my vision was a bit blurred until they focused to the buildings all lit up. A cool breeze passed through as I leaned back on the steps, extending my legs out.
My stomach made this weird turning feel, knowing something is going to go wrong, something doesn't feel right.
I brought my phone back out and saw nothing still, making me sigh. Although, there were messages from my friends asking how the talk went but I couldn't message them back right now, I just didn't want to say anything in case she shows up.
I started to play with my bracelets, nervously fidgeting with them as I start to think the absolute worse with our relationship. But as I play with one of my bracelets, it's funny because it's from her. I received it on our one year anniversary. I remember I told her I couldn't accept it because of how expensive it might have been. I didn't want her to spend money on me like that, I'm not worth it. She insisted, telling me how much she loves me.
I could easily take it off but I haven't, she holds a special place in my heart. And before this stupid fight, I was going to ask her to move in with me...guess that's not happening anytime soon.
Another hour passed and I become antsy and ended up calling her. The good news is it didn't go straight to voicemail...so I wonder why she hasn't responded. "Hey y/n, I know that you might be busy. Just seeing if you were making it tonight. It's honestly okay if we need to meet another day. Just worried about you. Okay, bye."
I left the voicemail, hoping it didn't sound needy or clingy, I genuinely don't care if she shows up tonight, I just want to make sure she's okay now.
As the night was continuing on, the weather was dropping, it becoming chiller, shivering whenever the breeze hit my face. While the voice in my head was telling my that she wasn't coming, how this was a mistake.
I took out my phone and began to type...backspace, retype...I did this for another minute until I finally settled on a response:
Me: If you don't show up, I'm going to assume you don't want to be with me anymore.
I didn't want to type that but I just wanted to know if she's coming or not. If she wants to work on this relationship.
Time was passing too fast for my liking and she wasn't calling or texting back. A deep sigh escaped, wanting to scream loudly if it wasn't for all the people walking by. It was clear that she doesn't want to work on this.
Me: I got your message loud and clear. I'm sorry we had that fight. I really am. I wish I could change what I said but I can't. I wanted to meet you tonight so we could talk this out but clearly you don't want to and that's okay. It's your decision, I can't make you do anything you don't want to do. I'll drop your stuff by your place tomorrow. Thank you for an incredible two years. I love you so much.
I set my phone in my pocket, walking up to the fence, leaning against it with my back towards the water while I tried to keep the tears in. I feel so many emotions but mainly sad and frustrated.
If this is what she wants, I can't force her to stay with me. I love her and respect her decision even if it hurts like hell.
I walked to my car with my hands in my pocket, kicking a small rock along the way, feeling my heart break into tiny pieces. The second I through myself down onto the drivers seat, I pressed my head against the headrest while closing my eyes.
Fuck, I hate this....damn.....I rubbed my eyes again before I started the car, still waiting just in case she shows up. But after 30 minutes, I couldn't wait anymore. I'd be here all night, probably to morning if I didn't have to leave for my parents tomorrow.
"Bye, park...you hold a lot of wonderful memories," I waved goodbye as I drove away with a heart that no longer existed.
Stray Kids Fic Recs
Hello! Recently I have become a stray kids fan and have fallen into a rabbit hole of fanfiction. Various pairings bc I don't care what the pair is just that it's stray kids related lmao. Added a line break bc there's a lot. Also feel free to rec me skz fics please bc I'm always reading
the book of us; electricity: (Seungjin | 10/10 | 84,966 | teen and up)
HJ @hyunfortunately 5h ;-; i was at the store and this song was playing over the speakers and i tried to remember some lyrics so i could search it up later but i can’t find it this is TRAGIC HJ @hyunfortunately 5h it was in korean and it’s kind of got rock-pop-balladish vibes and the first line of it was “neoneun neo neoneun na” if anyone knows it PLEASE tell me Seungmin doesn’t like to interact with other people on Twitter, but the questions seems almost aimed to him. He hits reply and types, “Try Hi Hello by Day6.” [Seungmin falls for Hyunjin from 2000 miles away. He expected that it would be inconvenient. He didn't expect quite how much Hyunjin would change his life.]
Genuinely one of the best fics I've ever read. It reads like a love letter to high school in the best way possible.
so this is what love is by dwaekinz: (Seungjin | 4/4 | 43,743 | teen and up)
seungmong_22 Hi, Hyunjin! My name is Seungmin. I'm Felix's friend, I hope he's mentioned me before…? Ha. We met online two years ago. I know it's unexpected But I kind of need your help hyuntothejin Me??? After 2 years of online friendship, Seungmin has finally found the time and saved up enough money to visit Felix for his birthday. In order for the surprise to work, he recruits the help of Felix's brother, Hyunjin, and together they spend the next three months forging a plan as well as a friendship of their own— or maybe something more.
So cute and fluffy no notes
Endgame by Raesan (Minsung | 9/9 | 150,840 | Explicit)
Jisung didn’t mean to procrastinate, but he didn’t think that all the clubs would be full in just a week. He sighed, seeing that only one club still had availability. Too bad he didn’t know shit about chess. Or what happens when Jisung, captain of the college soccer team, meets Minho, the number 2 ranked chess player in the country.
This fic is genuinely SO GOOD lol I think about it every day
reply hazy, try again by mrehk (BinChan | 1/1 | 14,951 | Explicit)
Changbin’s calculus tutor is Bang Chan. Smile wide, eyes shining, curly hair wild around his head. He’s got his backpack slung over one arm, those fuck ass chino shorts with a five inch inseam that make Changbin’s mouth water— and, goddamn, he’s wearing a fucking cropped t-shirt. Jisung and Seungmin are going to string Changbin up and have their way with public humiliation when they hear about this. (OR: solving for the derivative of l+o+v+e)
Funny and cute, I love idiots in love and that's what this is
Also mrehk is a fantastic writer so if you like this fic there's way more where that came from
i will protect you (gothic font) by mrehk (Minsung | 1/1 | 16,661 | Explicit)
Seungmin ignores him, smacking the folder onto the desk, flipping it open without looking, sliding it across the surface towards Minho. “It doesn’t matter. This was in the lease. You signed, right—” he taps the bottom corner, Minho’s initials perfectly legible. “Here.” “Excuse me?” Minho leans forward. “Paragraph nineteen subsection C,” Seungmin says, not even looking down as he recites the document word for word. “Lease is not voidable in the case of suspected paranormal activity.” He pounds his finger on the period. Minho laughs. A short, barked thing, completely disbelieving. “You’re kidding me.” “I’m really not,” Seungmin’s face pinches up into the sort of fake, squinted smile someone gives when they’re being an asshole. No remorse. (OR: Minho has ghosts, Jisung hunts ghosts)
Another funny one by mrehk my beloved
one day to fall in love (countless ones to love you) by whatifidbeenthatauthor (Minsung | 1/1 | 22,018 | Mature)
Minho stopped in his tracks. He turned to face Han Jisung. He looked unbothered, still going on about his way. “You didn’t say Hi,” Minho said, forcing the voice to come out of his throat. “You always say hi, hyung.” Jisung turned to look at him, a smile playing on his lips. He looked amused. Minho’s mind wasn’t keeping up. “Today’s different, I guess,” Jisung shrugged. “I went with a variation.” Minho would have found him insufferable, but he didn’t have the mental capacity to process the frustrating sensation that usually accompanied Jisung’s presence. Minho blurted out something that might have him sent to a madhouse. “No. I’ve lived today six times. You- you always say hi, hyung.” He felt crazy. More than usual. Jisung laughed. “What the fuck,” he said, and Minho knew he sounded insane, but could this kid please not be so arrogant? “Me, too. I thought I was the only one,” he continued, and he changed Minho’s life. *** Minho's life is boring, predictable, borderline uneventful. Until he gets stuck in a time loop. And, with him, his friends' friend, Han Jisung, a crazy dude who's only into skating. And whom Minho doesn't necessarily like.
I love time loop/time travel fics if anyone wants a list of specifically those lmk lmao
(never) have your fill of me by lolainslackss (Minsung | 3/3 | 36,028 | Explicit)
“How often can he possibly be having sex that it’s disturbing you this much?” Hyunjin asks, disbelieving. “He has sex, like, every day. And then again at night, sometimes.” Jisung makes a noise of distress. He drags his hands down his face before balling them into fists beneath his chin. “It’s just . . . so distracting, Hyunjin.” “Distracting,” Hyunjin repeats, giving Jisung a meaningful smirk. “Oh, I bet it is.” “Aw,” Jisung whines. “Why’d you have to say it like that?” “Like what?” “Like you think I wish I were the one he were fucking, instead.” “Because you do, don’t you, or are we pretending we both don’t know that?” Hyunjin’s gaze flits over to Minho before it swiftly cuts back to Jisung, all-knowing. “You’d let him do anything to you. Am I wrong?” - In which PhD student Han Jisung unleashes a succubus from a magical book, winds up living with him, and then forms a sex pact with him.
I also have a lot of demon fic recs so lmk
36 Questions That May Lead to Love by bluecalicocat (Minsung | 1/1 | 17,282 | Teen and Up)
generic username @realhanjisung yo my friend wants to be a therapist, can someone pls fake date me so he can practice counseling couples? i have 3 cats @leeknow deal
This fic is so funny
Searching for My Heart in Yours by lk321 (minsung | 5/5 | 36,995 | General)
When Jisung moves to Miroh, a town in the middle of nowhere, all he’s looking for is some peace and quiet. Instead, what he finds is a prickly witch for a neighbor by the name of Minho, who accidentally spills a potion on Jisung and forms a psychic bond between them, opening Jisung to whole new world of magic. As Minho tries to find a cure for their predicament, Jisung finds himself pulled into Minho's lively and magical life. It's not the peace and quiet Jisung was looking for, but as Jisung gets to know the witch through the emotions they're forced to share, Jisung realizes that the answers he’s searching for in life might just lie here in Miroh, in places he least expects.
Feels like a warm hug
the long game by floraii (HyunSung | 1/1 | 16,045 | Teen and Up)
“Anyway,” he continues, voice still sultry, “I’ve been seeing you in class, and I was just wondering—” he moves his hand to curl around a strand of his hair. “Could I get your number?” Han Jisung’s big brown eyes blink again. His gaze darts to his lips, then to his notebook, then up to his eyes. “To study?” “Yeah,” Hyunjin blurts without thinking. What the fuck? Study? What is happening? Why is he agreeing?
Hyunjin has a type. It’s not usually shy boys in his Intro to Statistics class with big round eyes and glasses, but Han Jisung is different.
This fic was so funny I was actually laughing out loud
I have plenty more where that came from! So there will be more recs soon
3racha and juyeon
a/n: ship popularity is 1-8 with one being the most popular and 8 being the least! this is rated by stay interaction and not a representation of the member’s feelings toward one another.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
bang chan + kang juyeon ♡ bangju
ship popularity: 2/8
first to meet juyeon!!
met in a jyp dance class in june 2014 and slowly started hanging out. they would go spend the little money they had getting a snack after class and ended up seeing each other at least once a day
juyeon and chan eventually found out they were both making their own music quietly and started bouncing ideas off of each other and offering constructive criticism
she was the first to support 3racha when they began working together and single-handedly promoted them herself, sending their music in text chains to her family and friends
chan says she is the ‘racha’ in 3racha because she is the spice, but juyeon is not officially a part of 3racha. she has featured in a few of their songs, namely hoodie season, scene stealers, and 42.
juyeon certainly tends to be chan’s caretaker due to knowing him so well and knowing how stressful the leader position can be.
when it’s just the two of them juyeon forces him to speak in english so she can try to mimick his accent
definitely bros, although sometimes they’re a little flirty as they’re both venus signs (๑>◡<๑)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
seo changbin + kang juyeon (chu) ♡ binchu
ship popularity: 1/8
their first impressions were not great tbh
predebut, juyeon found changbin intimidating and unintentionally avoided talking to him, which made changbin think she didn’t like him
however, egged on by chan and jisung, changbin asked juyeon if she wanted to get dinner after practice one day, and he tried hard to show how friendly and warm he is
this plan certainly worked, as juyeon was able to see past the cold exterior and find the soft squishy aegyo on the inside that stays know well
funny enough, the pair found that their personalities were quite compatible once they became comfortable with one another. their temperaments compliment each other well in a opposite kind of way.
while changbin is energetic, outgoing, loud, confident, (leoism) juyeon is soft spoken, shy, and very chilled out at most times. when together, these traits mix, and you can often witness changbin calmer than usual and/or juyeon more excitable than she regularly is
in 2019 miroh era stays noticed a slight difference in their interactions and a dating scandal was endured by the two. however, jyp entertainment commented and denied the allegations, saying that “changbin and juyeon are good friends.”
the denial of the allegations didn’t disprove the theory though. stays consistently have watched their interactions since this point and have grown to believe that they are secretly dating or at the very least have some feelings toward each other. around 70% of stays who believe this don’t mind and support their happiness, while the remaining amount of stays have a known history of not liking juyeon.
typically seen together at most times, both on camera and off camera
bin is always trying to impress juyeon and juyeon is always impressed. it’s a never ending cycle.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
han jisung + kang juyeon ♡ yeonsung
ship popularity: 3/8
juyeon was really impressed by jisung when she first met him as he was only 16 at the time and was skilled in dancing, rapping, and singing
she really loved the tone of his voice and the versatility he was able to achieve, which she has always been a little envious about
however, baby jisung, who happened to be more scampish prior to debut, did not like juyeon! upon first meeting he found her soft spoken nature fake and was annoyed by her “over the top” aegyo. he felt that she was putting on an act and didn’t appreciate her dishonesty.
for a while after their initial meeting, jisung was pretty short with her and it was quite obvious he didn’t enjoy her presence. she noticed this and instead of backing off like she may have if it was changbin, juyeon used every opportunity she could to butter him up
it took a couple weeks - and a few rejections of her invitation to hang out - but juyeon finally took a step outside her comfort zone and told jisung that 1) she really liked his voice and made a beat for him based off of this, and 2) she feels that they got off on the wrong foot and would like a chance to try again
this interaction and her authenticity really touched jisung, and it was then that he realized how judge mental he was being. while she was soft spoken and radiated a naturally cute vibe, it wasn’t an act for attention from boys or a mask put on to conceal her real personality. she was really the way she presented herself. and she was good at what she did, too.
as we can see now, jisung and juyeon’s friendship significantly improved and are now very close friends.
jisung now looks up to juyeon as a role model for communication
she was also the one to scold him and hyunjin for beefing lol
besties now!
if chan ever needs a duo to create chaos and misfortune for the day, this is his go to pair.
Gone Away: Chapter 1
Tumblr media
This story (and this blog) is strictly +18 minors do not interact.
Lee Know x Female reader.
Ex Best friend to lovers trope.
TW: angst
Word Count:2.5k
Series Masterlist
General Masterlist
It was the year 2008, where everything smelled like Victoria`s secret perfumes and rhinestones blinging in your eyes. Everyone holding their bedazzled flip phones in their palms, texting each other and taking pictures with their digital cameras posting them on Myspace. Idolizing Paris Hilton and Britney Spears. Covering themselves with Juicy Couture, Brandy Melville, and fake Louis Vuitton bags. Everything smelled sickeningly sweet and artificial.
There you were, not exactly fitting in but covered in different colours and layer of clothing thinking it looked good, adapting to the fashion sense of the year. In your senior year in high school in your neighbourhood, in the suburbs from a high paid middle-class family. You were well of; you were able to afford anything you need but not able to afford anything luxury.
In your high school there was different friend groups like in any other high school. Yours were just your friends. Some of them were ``cool`` but you wouldn`t say that for yourself. You were pretty much invisible, not having any issues with anyone but not having too many friends outside of your group. Your friend group consisted of 6 people. You were 3 girls and 3 boys, basically all attached at your hips, doing everything together and never spending any day without each other. You were closest with Minho or as everyone called him Lee Know, he was your best friend since you moved into the neighbourhood and for years, he was your everything. Your best friend, your family, your confidant also your neighbour. You two lived few houses away from each other, you having to walk in front of his house whenever you had to leave your street. Since he became a part of the football team in your high school, he was almost always in his garden working out or practicing in some way, which means you always run into him. Your family seeing him as their own son as well.
The rest of your friend group consisted of your friends, Sakura and Ji-min, your girl best friends and Han and Hyunjin, the other boys in the group. You were close friends with all of them, having a great friendship with them, enjoying their company and their presence during your high school years.
Minho and Hyunjin were a part of the high school football team since their sophomore year and was really into the game itself. You tried to understand how football worked but you could not, you did attend their games regularly to support them. Han was not interested in sports, he mostly spent his time on his computer, gaming or to create music, he would always rap or sing stuff and he became one of your music and art teachers favourite student, giving him a role in any ceremony possible.
Han was very social and was friends with almost everyone in the high school, he mostly spent his time with your group and mostly Hyunjin but somehow always found time to be friends with everyone. Even sometimes against your friend groups requests.
Lee Know was a stubborn and Mr. Know-it-all person. When he started to get annoyed with someone, no one can turn that back. If he loved you, he loved you too much and protected you at all costs. But for some reason, he did not like other boys from his team. And he was annoyed with all of them but for the most part he would complain about three particular boys. They were very close friends with each other, almost being attached from their hips. Bang Chan, Felix and Changbin. They were typical jocks but were good at heart. Never bullied anyone and would just mind their business.
Lee Know would get annoyed whenever Han would talk about them or hang out with them, but it never stopped him. Han could be considered as the wild one in your group, and everyone knew that, even Minho, he somehow accepted that fact.
In the start of your senior year, Han decided to celebrate his birthday in an extravagant party. He was turning 18 and he told your group that he had to go ``all in`` which you all cringed at. Lee Know did not like crowded settings and told you in confidence that he does not want to go but he will since he is a very close friend of theirs.
You grew accustomed to your group and routine. Spending your days with Minho, doing everything you can possibly think of together. You even wait for him during his practice in the library so you two could make the short walk to your neighbourhood together and spend the rest of your day together. It felt natural to be with him, effortless and right. He was everything you dreamed in a person embodied. He was extremely passionate about everything he did, he cared about you, he was thoughtful, an amazing person with a heart of gold and extremely attractive. You knew everyone in your high school had a crush on him or Hyunjin. They were too good looking for their own good. But Lee Know had a different aura, he was like a paradox. Leaving you questioning everything.
You tried your best to not have a crush on him, you couldn`t afford to lose him. You learned how to live hiding your feelings, not make it obvious to anyone. It was the only secret you never told him, you couldn`t. You never know how he would react if you did. Would he get angry, or would he let you down gently? Although you hated not knowing things, you did not want to see how this plays out.
You and your friend group helped Han with his party, he invited almost the whole high school, and it was going to be huge. He told your group that, since you were his best friends, you should look your best and have the best time, to set an example. You spent almost a week with the girls trying to find the best outfit and you finally settled on a sparkling silver bodycon mini dress and shoes to go with it. You felt amazing in that outfit, and you kept it a secret from everyone except the girls until the party.
Before the party, you got ready with Ji-min and Sakura in Ji-min`s house and made it to the party with her car. When you finally were there, you saw Han and waved at him, who came running to hug you and complimented you a thousand times on how good you look. You saw Minho and Hyunjin making themselves a drink and thought about going to them, but Han dragged you next to the three boys your best friend despises the most. Felix, Bang Chan and Changbin making conversation with you making you feel like you were their friend for years and Han leaving as soon as he saw someone else, leaving you with them alone.
You chatted with them and in a few seconds Bang Chan and Changbin disappeared to get some drinks, leaving you alone with Felix.
Felix was attractive and nice. He complimented you and asked you for a dance, when you two made it to the dancefloor, he made you feel comfortable since he was an amazing dancer, leading you whilst dancing. You didn`t even notice Lee Know`s stares at you. You were amazed with Felix, his freckles, his cute smile, and his deep voice almost casting a spell on you, making you forget about your friend group who were also at the party.
After a while, you decided to get some fresh air and that is where Felix kissed you. Your first kiss, under the stars, surrounded by drunk teenagers and loud music but it was perfect. He confessed that he had feelings for you for a while and asked Han to play matchmaker in this situation since you never left Minho`s side. You were oblivious but you agreed to go on a date with him and that is how your relationship started with Felix.
Your relationship continued with the upcoming months and years. You attended your graduation prom, ceremony with Felix and your new circle that came with him. You spent more and more time with Bang Chan and Changbin as your relationship continued. Whenever you tried to hang out with your original group of friends you sensed the tension from Minho and Hyunjin. You knew that Hyunjin and Minho were close and that was the most probable reason of the tension. You felt uncomfortable and unwanted when you were with them. Feeling like they were just tolerating you for old times sake, they did not want to hang out with you. Except Han, he regularly strung along with your new friends. You had amazing time with them, they were fun to be around and protective of you like a sibling and it was easy to be with them. You choose to stay with them as well.
Felix and your relationship were great as well, he respected you and treated you well. It was not the most exciting relationship, but it was a part of you now. You both gave each other the space you needed as well as the care. You were in a relationship, but you had a sense of self. You could explore your hobbies and new friends and focus on your education, but he would always be there when you needed him.
The three years you spent with Felix was great, when you mentioned an opportunity for studying abroad, he encouraged you to pursue it since he knew you could be very successful. You applied and got accepted for it. You were going to continue your education in another country, far away from yours. You know that the money situation was not the best for you, you knew that you would have to find a job to stay there. You decided to give it a try anyways. Since you were living with Felix, you decided to help him find a new roommate and he found a guy from your college, he was okay, very quiet and kept to himself, but it was appreciated from Felix since he enjoyed the quite as well.
You and Felix had a ``talk`` few days before you left about your relationship. He was honest with you, he told you he would always care about you but he couldn`t do the long-distance relationship and told you it would be best if you stayed as friends and he promised you he was not out of your life, your relationship turned into more of a friendship. You agreed, you spent three years together and it was great times, but you knew that going to the other side of the world and trying to keep the relationship was not going to be easy and it would be better for both of you if you stayed as friends.
He took you to the airport with Han, Changbin and Bang Chan, all of them almost crying to see you go and promising you that they will keep the regular contact. You promised them as well, wishing you could promise the same for your old friends. You missed them, you saw them hanging out on social media regularly and posting it. You were first envious, but you made peace with it, some people grow apart. But it seems like you were always the one getting left out.
You tried to focus on your new life in a new country. You made friends, they were not close, but they were there. You found a job and was very successful in your education and the outside. Landing an amazing paying job as soon as you graduated. You had a more stable life now. You kept in regular contact with your friends back in your home country as well as your new ones. When your company approached you with the idea of transferring to your home city in a higher paying position, you jumped to the opportunity. You wanted to be closer to your family and your friends and the pay was amazing. You couldn`t possibly say no to it. Although it has been years since you went back, you were happy to start a new chapter in your hometown. Only letting your newfound friend group known that you will be back to stay, and you found yourself an apartment near your workplace, excited for a new beginning.
Bang Chan, Changbin, Han and Felix welcome you at the airport, with huge signs and claps, making you embarrassed and they basically tackle you to the ground hugging you and taking your luggage away. You haven`t felt this much attention in a while so you are happy, feeling of home and embrace surrounding you both mentally and physically.
You stay with your family for a few nights, your house getting ready for you. You feel content being back. Feeling like finally you can breathe. You feel familiar and good for your new position in a well-known fashion magazine.
You know that it was a huge responsibility, but you were ready for it.
You have kept in somewhat touch with your old friend group, following them on social media except Lee Know. He never accepted your requests and never reached out to you. Even though you wanted to reach out for a while, you thought maybe you can, since you were back. But you were not hopeful. When you went back to your family’s house, you visited his family, but he was not there. They told you he was busy with his work and had long hours but never gave you any specifics, they never asked you what happened or why did you two had a fall out, but you were sure that they knew because he told them.
It was a quick visit, you went back to your family’s house and left for your new apartment. It was perfect. Small but perfect. It had two rooms, one was your bedroom and the other was your study room, you a great living room, it was comfortable but modern at the same time. Your kitchen was on the smaller side, but it had everything you needed.
You spent your first night in your new apartment, excited for your new job and new beginning.
You got up before then you had your alarm and took a relaxing shower and got ready for your first day. You wore a matching skirt and blazer combination in neutral colour and wore a white shirt, deciding to go basic for your first day. You took your bag and wore your shoes and made your way outside of your apartment to call an uber. You didn`t have a chance to get your company issued car yet and expecting it in few days but you didn`t mind it.
You were excited as you went to your workplace in your uber and when you arrived at the building, they made sure they welcomed you. You made your walk to your office and settled your bag there and after your new assistant gave you a tour of the workplace.
You entered the photoshoot room and your assistant started to introduce you to everyone and when your eyes land on the photographer you were stunned. It was none other than Lee Minho.
New Chapter—Departing from This Account
hey guys… its ella aka youn9racha here
i’m back on here to regretfully to tell you all that i’ll be leaving the stayblr fic community. i’ve had so much fun being on here and i never regretted anything that came out of this account. it had been a wonderful one-two years being on here, and if i could, i’d relive this moment over and over again.
i cherish the people i’ve met here, the ones that got close enough to have my socials and the ones i’ve casually talked, whether through comments, reblogs and dms. y’all are wonderful and made my experience on here so special to me. words can’t describe how much this account means to me.
there are many factors on why i’ll be leaving, one of them being my university taking up most of my time, but the other factor that kinda hurts to admit is that i’m not as interested and invested in stray kids as i used to before. i still love my eight boys, in fact they’re the only kpop group i follow on my socials and i don’t intend on removing them anytime soon, and i still very much love bang chan. but i’m just not as obsessed with them to the point of writing stuff surrounding them anymore. I’ve been too preoccupied with life that it slowly drove me away from them, even to the point of me denying.
i’ve also developed new interests and hyperfixations, namely one piece, as being pretty evident as my recent posts about the live action series, so that also drove me away from writing for stray kids.
but all in all, it really has been fun being on here and writing for these eight men that have impacted my life from late high school till now in the best way possible. its crazy to think that i’ve been loving these boys from senior year of high school when i was 18 and now i’m a senior in college, truly i cannot thank them enough on how much they mean to this day. but i have to leave this part of my life behind. who knows, maybe i’ll start being obsessed with them again? only time will tell if that were to happen.
as for this account? i don’t intend on deactivating this account because i still cherish this account and i don’t think i’m ready to deactivate it yet. and besides i know some people like to read my stories even though i still haven’t fixed my masterlist—i promise once i have the free time i’ll fix it i swear! so why should i take that away?
anyhow, its been fun. i’m gonna miss writing her…
c ya !!!! 🫶🫶
p.s. if any of my mutuals on here wants to still interact with me, just dm me and i’ll give you my socials (i am technically an anonymous person, and i do go by a fake name so i’m not gonna give it out to anyone)
p.p.s i’ll still watch skz’s new cb
The Epitome of Okay
Tumblr media
Request: can i get a christopher bang and #12. thank yooou!
Prompt:
12) Your bias needs a fake partner for a family event. Are you up for the task?
Prompt list can be found HERE.
Pairing: Stray Kids Chan x Reader
Genre: Fluff
.
"Your sister hates me," you muttered, trying to adjust yourself in Chan's bed.
"My sister doesn't haaate you," he hummed from his pallet on the floor beside you. "She just takes awhile to warm up to people."
"She knows, Chris," you grumbled, flopping over moodily so you could face where he was laying. "I don't know how, but she does."
Your stomach felt hollow as you replayed the afternoon's events and how exactly the two of you had landed in this situation. It was nearly a month ago now that Chan had casually asked you over coffee if you wanted to visit home with him for his brother's graduation. After you had kindly declined, he went on to list the reasons why this was such an important thing.
Namely, that he had told his parents that he had a partner in order for them to get off his case about it.
"They feel like I work too much," he grumbled.
"You do," you had agreed knowingly.
Chan shot you a dirty look. "And getting into a relationship would help me take a step back and enjoy myself, but I enjoy myself just fine!"
"Oh yeah, sleeping three hours a night and being in chronic pain is a blast," you muttered, stirring your coffee with a straw.
"So you agree with them," he had smiled. "And therefore, you volunteer?"
And you had. During the ten hour flight, you tried not to think too hard about what you were actually doing, but Chan had made it difficult. Sitting beside you, he rattled off facts and memories of his family that he thought may come up in conversation that you should know. Granted, you were friends, so you had always had at least a surface level understanding of how his family dynamic worked, but now you'd really be put to the test.
It seemed as if as soon as you had set foot on Australian soil, the nightmare had began. Of course his parents were overzealous with excitement that they got to meet you, but his siblings? Not so much. His brother stayed pretty detached, while his sister could only look at you warily. You weren't sure where you went wrong. You had sucked it up and allowed Chan to hold your hand, let him put his hand on your lower back, and even kissed him on the cheek once. All things considered, you should've gotten an Oscar for your performance. It didn't matter if the simple skin to skin contact had repeatedly sent shivers across your body and caused your face to warm. You wouldn't examine that part too closely.
"Maybe we're not laying it on thick enough," you whispered more to yourself than to Chan.
"And how do you suggest we do that?" he chuckled. He rolled over to look up at you from his floor-bed. "More skinship is only going to make her make fun of us, Y/N."
"I'm not talking about skinship..." you said slowly, trying to gather your thoughts. "I'm talking about familiarity."
From the dim lighting of the mood lamps behind the bed, you could see Chan's face contort with confusion. "We are familiar with each other."
Taking a deep breath, you leaned over the edge of the bed to look at him more directly. "Physical familiarity, Chris."
"Why do those two words together make me blush?" he laughed nervously.
You rolled your eyes. "I mean, we don't act fluidly together. We're not used to cuddling, or holding each other's hands, or knowing how to act completely comfortable around one another."
"I get what you're saying," he nodded. "We don't know how to interact when we're sharing the same space."
"Exactly," you said, relieved he had caught up. "What did you think I meant?"
"It would be better if I didn't say it out loud."
You laughed, trying to maintain your courage. "Would you be okay with sharing the bed with me?"
"When you say it like thaaaat," he sang. "I'm not too sure if my first thought was entirely off base."
"I'm not trying to corrupt you!" you gasped. "Not like you need any help in that."
"I am the picture of innocence and purity, thank you very much." You didn't have to look at him to know he was grinning.
"Did those words burn as they were leaving your mouth?"
"Okay, first, rude," he said, finally sitting up. "And two, why am I getting into bed with you then?"
"I, uh," you said quietly. "Want to try something."
"Sounds not suspicious at all," he sighed. Throwing off his covers, he got to his feet, and moved slowly around the bed. Crawling under the blankets, he lay flat on his back, eying you skeptically. "Now what?"
"Umm..." you hummed, totally winging it as you went. "Roll onto your side?"
"Rolling," he confirmed as he faced you. Your bodies were so close at this point, it made the next action easier. Scooting forward, you nestled your body into his.
"Is this okay?" you whispered, refusing to look up. Your eyes remained level with his collarbones and you were going to keep it that way until you could tell your heart to calm down.
"Yep," he said a bit too loud. "Totally fine. Why wouldn't it be?"
You attempted to keep your breathing even, but it was difficult when he was breathing erratically himself.
"I...uh...I don't know what to do with my hands." His voice was a bit more rough than it had been previously.
"Do we cuddle? I assume you've cuddled before?"
"Of course I have!" he said quickly. "And I've had no complaints!"
"Then maybe, you know, we should try doing it?" you winced. You could practically hear Chan's gears spinning as he tried to sort things out.
Swallowing loud enough for you to hear, Chan wrapped his arm around your lower back and pulled you close, eliminating what little space there had been between your bodies.
Your face was now tucked into the crook of his shoulder, and god, did he smell good. Something musky with an undertone of vanilla mingled so well on his skin that you couldn't stop sniffing.
"Are you comfortable?" he asked quietly.
You were more than comfortable. You didn't know if you had ever felt this safe in your entire life. Chan had always been a protective friend who you admired greatly for his work ethic and morality. You had always kept any romantic thoughts at bay because of that. He was your friend, Chan. Not this wildly hot and respectful gentleman, Chris. You could never even fantasize about that side of him because it would never happen like that between the two of you...right?
"Very," you finally answered.
"I can see your point," he continued, his voice barely above a breath.
"My point?" you asked. Your head was swimming with every inappropriate thought you could imagine, not how the two of you had gotten there.
"How realistic can we be if we've never actually been this close? How can I act like I know how your skin feels on mine without actually holding you?"
"Right," you croaked. "This. Totally great idea by me. You're welcome."
You could feel the laugh rumble through Chan's chest. "Are you sure you're okay? If you're uncomfortable, we can-"
"Chris," you whispered. "I am irrationally comfortable right now."
"Oh," he said quietly. His fingers had began to move in small circles on the section of your lower back where your shirt had ridden up. "I was thinking..."
"I didn't see the smoke coming out of your ears," you chuckled.
"You'd have to look at me first," he said, a bit more seriously than you had expected.
Blinking up at him in surprise, you tilted your head back so you could actually hold eye contact.
"Much better," he managed. His voice was more gravelly than you had ever heard it before. "I was thinking maybe I could try something? But I need to make sure you're okay with it first."
"I told you-"
"No," he said finitely. "This is different."
The words you were going to say evaporated from your throat immediately. "Okay."
"Okay?"
"Okay," you confirmed.
"Okay," he repeated.
Tilting his head slowly down, the realization hit you. He was going to kiss you, and you were far more excited than you should be.
Moving your face forward as well, your eyes fluttered closed, waiting for the inevitable contact...until you felt the smallest kiss...
On the tip of your nose.
Letting out a surprise laugh, you opened your eyes again to find him grinning at you.
"I just wanted to see if you were really okay," he laughed.
"You absolute tease!" you groaned, embarrassment flooding you at his small trick.
"Can I try again?" he asked, biting his lip. You could see the amusement and hope bright in his eyes.
"If you must," you nodded.
This time, Chan moved much less slowly as his lips finally met yours. Catching your mouth and tilting your face upward just by the pressure of the kiss, you were surprised to hear a small groan slip from the back of your throat. Seeming to give him the boost of approval that he needed, Chan's hand moved from your waist to your neck. His fingers were a whisper against your skin as he chose that time to deepen the kiss. Pulling your bottom lip between his teeth, it was his turn to groan as he roughly let go and caught your mouth again. You had never been kissed like this. It wasn't casual and it wasn't fevered, but something more certain. Chan wanted you to know what this meant. He wanted to you to realize that if you were going to do this, you really would be. No more pretending. He was staking his claim here and now.
Trading kisses for what could have easily been ten minutes or an hour, you couldn't be sure, Chan finally kissed the corner of your mouth before withdrawing his face from yours.
"So maybe," he hummed, his voice the embodiment of positivity. "We don't have to fake it anymore."
