I feel like Brick just, knows Peppi-no isn't Peppino instinctually. Like his rat nose or something allows him to sniff him out, or he just somehow put everything together. Like the way he looked at Gustavo at the end just screams "took ya long enough." Idk, I just think it's funny.

Brick can smell that something changed about Peppino. While strange, this Peppino is not hurting anyone, so Brick doesn't do much about it. (What can you expect, it's a rat)

Peppi-no treats Brick with good amounts of respect. He often gives Brick leftover cheese, basically bribing her. He can't give Brick a reason to rat him out.
