The majestic Punakha Dzong in all its glory - Bhutan As we drove on the winding roads, we saw this magnificent building hiding behind the purple clouds of jacaranda blossom. The dzong is located right at the confluence of 2 rivers - Po Chhu and Mo Chhu. The sight of Punakha dzong standing alongside a row of jacaranda trees in full purple bloom, against a clear blue sky, encircled by two sparkling rivers, and wrapped in the fragrance of incense, looked painstakingly beautiful. The Milky Way. Clicked at Padum, Zanskar, J&K, India. This was the first time that we were able to spot the Milky way with naked eye. We stood on the terrace of our hotel for a very long time to get to this final picture. Padum remains cut-off from the rest of the world for 7 months at a stretch when it snows heavily and the only road that connects it to Kargil closes down. We spent days on the road to reach to this remotest place of the Zanskar valley. Punakha valley with the meandering Mo Chhu River flowing zigzag, Bhutan After an hour hike we were awarded with this amazing view of Punakha valley from the top of the Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten, Punakha. The hike was an adventure in itself - we crossed a swaying suspension bridge, walked through the paddy fields and slowly ascended the hill full of pine trees and flowering plants. All the calories burnt were worth it when exposed to this view. I saw her through the evening waiting patiently to catch some fishes, probably dinner for her family.. And next day by the time we woke up, she was back.. We had camped for just one night on the beautiful Umngot river near Shnongpdeng village in the state of Meghalaya, and our eyes met couple of times from a distance, yet it felt like there was an unknown connection. Few fleeting glances felt like an age old bond. Since then we have travelled thousands of miles, yet I know tomorrow morning she will be back on her boat, looking for fishes to feed her family.
