A sigh escaped Shepherd, "I was afraid it was to do with the incident... I thought it was maybe an unfortunate combination of events but-", he held his head. "I know I should talk to her about it, none of us have. But if its' bothering her this much then... I don't want to risk upsetting her. She's a good employee and... a good friend of the family. I don't exactly know how to approach this though, it's-....". He stopped, for a moment, Shepherd seemed to hesitant to share this, but he figured he should mention this. "It's not exactly the first incident relating to her... but the first one, I don't think she knows about. She doesn't remember... but I did witness it".

Shepherd had come to visit this time... this seemed unlike him, especially solo. But here he was. And that look on his face, he had a mission in mind. He explored this 'Haven', until he found who he was looking for. "Excuse me, Iris, was it?", he approached the smaller hedgehog. "You're friends with Fae, aren't you? She's hasn't been acting right, and I know it might be non of my business but its' been going on for quite a while. Ever since Halloween, and I've just been concerned... has she said anything to you? Or given any indication to what's been bothering her? It's been fruitless from my side and none of us know what to do...". It was strange to see this usually serious, stoic man show genuine concern. He must be really worried...

Iris nearly jumped at the sight of Shepherd, half expecting it to be another tall fellow, but they were still pleasantly surprised by his visit, to them of all beings.

Their ears drooped at the mention of Fae’s behavior. They’ve talked before around halloween, but hearing that things were still bothering her just made Iris feel for their friend. 

“I can’t really say what might be bothering her in particular… but coming from a similar experience to her, she might be feeling overwhelmed. Maybe not so much from the work she does but… there’s just things beyond our control that can overwhelm us…”

Iris thought back to that night, how Fae came to find some escape in Haven because of that weird incident she believed she caused. Iris couldn’t help but relate to the discovery of their own powers, how massively destructive they could be, and how it made them feel. 

“Fae really has some respect for you, all of you, she really cares for your family and the last thing she’d ever want to do is hurt you even if unintentionally… I feel the same way about my own Guardians. I… Wasn’t born with my abilities so I’m still finding my path with it… and I can’t help but feel anxious that I might act besides myself and end up hurting those I care about…” Iris rubs the back of their neck pensively.

“Perhaps Fae shares in the same anxiety and worries about letting you and your family down...”

(Fae stood awkwardly at Spectres staring, being very intimidated by the cloaked echidna, but once Locke started to speak about the Chaos Energy, she listened intently... at least the best she could. It was a lot of words. She winced uncomfortably at the mention of Spectre's experience, shooting him a very concerned look before looking back to Locke as he continued) Fae: Wow... certainly sounds complicated aha- (she fidgets uncomfortably) and kinda scary. I'm still not entirely sure how the chaos energy works with our Guardians but Shepherd did briefly explain that depending on the person, they can do different things. Mostly depends on what they can manage to do, healing, teleportation, focused attacks, all that jazz. He also said it gave his family the uh... 'misfortune' as he says about 'immortality' thing... although he still thinks they're not un-killable, they just stop aging.

Fae: (she giggled awkwardly) This is all still kinda new to me, to be honest, I'm terrified to go near the emerald. Shepherd's only showed me the chamber once to try and explain the whole Guardian deal when I started the assistant job... I was WAY too nervous to go near it. I honestly thought I'd explode or something if I got too close to it... Shepherd said that wouldn't happen but still- aha... Fae: Although... it would be pretty cool to have powers. Just don't think I'd like to get it from a giant chaotic rock personally.

(Fae appears again, a sparkle of interest in her eyes) Can you guys tell me about your powers? The chaos energy sort of stuff? I wanna know if it's any different to my Guardians!

Grandfather don’t be like that! The gal’s just curious, besides she already works with some alternate version of Angel Island’s Guardians so none of this is too uncommon for her.

Oh please allow me to elaborate, since I’ve quite researched this matter a bit I might have some insight to share.

Our chaos manipulating powers mostly come from being attuned to the Master Emerald but it’s not quite as simple as that. Due to the nature of chaotic energy it can be a rather unstable energy to deal with, some individuals are more sensitive to these energies than others, and there’s really no telling how it could affect each individual on a biological sense or even ability wise. This is why even though we all have chaos abilities we are able to manipulate it in different ways and even have our on ways of channeling that energy. 

Grandfather Spectre for example, in his young adulthood he experienced an incident in which his body absorbed really high levels of chaos energy directly from the Master Emerald. 

As a result of this near death experience he noticed that his skin had darkened and had began producing clouds of his essence as well as becoming a lot more sensitive to chaos energy. This leads him to have near omniscience and a greater command of chaos force which allows him to do incredible things such as teleportation with the use of the chaos force. I’ll also add that our family lineage are a bit of an anomaly when it comes to us drawing energy from the Master Emerald in comparison to the rest of the populace. Since our family has years of research and exposure to these energies it’s a factor that is ingrained in our DNA, allowing us to have a greater discipline and sensitivity in channeling these energies more naturally than most.

 An unfortunate outcome of dealing with Chaos energies is that they can be quite unstable as chaos in an of itself is unpredictable, so while our lineage has done its part in making it a science there’s still variables that may be unknown to us or beyond our scope of comprehension.
