Best known for her penetrating, emotionally-charged magazine work, the Russian-born, Munich-based photographer was educated as a clinical psychologist. Only in her thirties, Porodina has produced a body of work that manages to provoke both delight and mystery, curiosity and discomfort. T magazine editor Coco Romack calls Porodina’s work melancholy and eerie. The "twist of beauty’s familiar forms into the uncanny is a trademark for Porodina," Romack writes.
