«My dear friend, my sweet Florentin,

Enough time has passed since your last letter, but I still could not find good words with which I could respond. Forgive me, my friend, for waiting.

I received your gift, everything arrived intact and so beautiful that I didn’t immediately understand whether I was dreaming or whether I was really honored to see your fruitful works. Florentin, you are not just a master, but a man with a capital “M.” It is impossible for me to express in words and even difficult to write all the emotions that I feel looking at your gift. I blow away every speck of dust and forget to take a breath, looking with admiration at every little pattern, every fingerprint that remains, like the signature of the author, the Creator! Thank you for this!

I'm also very happy to hear that things are going well for you! The woman you wrote to me about seems to me to be a good person. Don't miss your chance to become happier and share this feeling with her, my friend! I know you, you are not one of those who will run away from people in fear, and it seems to me that by the time this letter arrives, you will have already taken this step. And if not, then you should hurry up while time is still on your side!

But thoughts still torment me... Maybe I'm crazy, but sometimes I think about whether we could have been just as happy in a different time? Imagine as if our lives are somewhere else, maybe through the looking glass or in other people’s dreams, or maybe under the cover of a gentle night and a loving Moon... Sometimes my dreams go far and it’s as if I’m not here, but in a completely different world. This is a strange confession, my dear Florrie, but no matter what world I was born into, you were there, and everything became good. And the worlds seemed friendlier, and people were no longer as scary as before. It was as if people didn’t exist, they disappeared, only we remained, our good old house and gardens. Our lives also continue, rushing like a river under a bridge, but in these worlds I have never been a stone in your flow, my Florrie. And I would like not to be in this one either. But unfortunately, I can’t turn back all the arrows, and if I did, would we be here then?

The Fruits Of Passion (1983) ‘A Surrealish Thing’ written and directed by Russell Senior. Performed by The Wicker Players: Jarvis Cocker, Magnus Doyle, Tim Allcard, Ellie Ford and Steve Faben. Included musical interludes performed by Russell, Jarvis and Magnus.

"It was kind of Zurich 1919 revolutionary, very much inspired by Dada," says Russell. "The idea was that people would either walk out in disgust or stay to the end and think it was really cool, and the people who'd stay would be the people who we'd start the socialist revolution with . . . "

The Fruits of Passion Extract from Truth & Beauty: The Story of Pulp by Mark Sturdy.

Direction and identity certainly weren't lacking when, his initial plan of producing it with the Crucible Youth Theatre having fallen through, Russell decided to employ the largely idle remnants of Pulp to present his "Dadaist piece of agit-prop", The Fruits of Passion, to the public. For the project, Russell, Jarvis, Magnus and Tim dubbed themselves The Wicker Players (after named after the somewhat insalubrious area of Sheffield that housed the former silk factory where Magnus lived, and of which Tim was the caretaker), roping in a couple of friends, Steven Faben and Ellie Ford, to act in the play, and Magnus' flatmate Peter 'Manners' Mansell to help out behind the scenes.

Dig Vis Drill vocalist Ogy McGrath was also asked to be in it, "but I'd written a play at the time called Friendship House, and after Russell read that I think he kind of went off the idea of me being in it! The Fruits of Passion had characters like First Authoritarian and Second Authoritarian, and I wasn't sure which authoritarian to play. Russell goes 'There's no difference'. 'But I need to get into my character, do you want me to be low authoritarian, high authoritarian or what?' Great sense of humour, Russell. One day they'll find it and give it him back. I liked him back then though - I think I was the only one in Sheffield who did, so I was ahead of my time in that sense . . . "

The raison d'être of the play, which ran for four performances at various venues in Sheffield during December 1983, was the provocation of its audiences. "It was kind of Zurich 1919 revolutionary, very much inspired by Dada," says Russell. "The idea was that people would either walk out in disgust or stay to the end and think it was really cool, and the people who'd stay would be the people who we'd start the socialist revolution with . . . "

The action was interspersed with musical interludes from Jarvis, Russell and Magnus. "The stage directions were something like 'Put vacuum cleaner on stage. Switch it on. Leave it on until audience becomes restless'," remembers Jarvis with amusement. "The climatic scene was me eating a plate of fake shit at a job interview. I remember the last performance we did, at the Crucible, it looked really real. I looked at Russell and he had this look in his eyes, and I thought 'I hope you aren't testing me out here'. It turned out he'd employed a new recipe, which I think was peanut butter and chocolate. But it looked very realistic."

"It was very intense," says Russell of The Fruits of Passion. "After getting about half the people walking out of this thing and the other half thinking it was really cool, we decided to continue things and make a bit of music."

The Wicker Players (1983-1985)

Various open mic / ‘cabaret’ events organised by Russell Senior at the Hallamshire Hotel, mostly toward the end of 1983. Participants included Jarvis, Magnus Doyle, Saskia Cocker, Michael Paramore and Tim Allcard.

The only known dates are: 18 December 1983 - ‘Wicker Players Christmas Panto’, Hallamshire Hotel, Sheffield 26 February 1985 - ‘Wicker Players Mystery Event’, Hallamshire Hotel, Sheffield

Saskia has a vague recollection of performing in one of Russell’s plays at one of these events: "It was about a night out on the town. Jarvis was supposed to be chatting me up at a bar. He was supposed to ask me what I wanted to drink, and I say 'Oh, I'll have a Pina Colada please.' And he thought I'd said 'peanuts and lager', so he put some peanuts in a glass of lager, and I threw it over him."

Promised to tell about yesterday's

ADVENTURE.

Day started well, if early, to take advantage of the morning cool. Had a water haul. It was my longest one, of course. Takes three and a half to four hours if all goes well, which it did not.

Got to the water meters place. A contractor was using the standpipe that I needed - - to fill a 3000 gallon truck! Looking things over, I found that I had a trailer tire that was deader than a Dodo. Picked up not one, but two nails. One in a spot that makes it not repairable. At least it is on a warranty.

At least I had a spare in the truck. Got off four of the six wheel nuts. The other two did not want to come off. Grump. Went to a local used tire place. Oly applied pro tools and got my tire swapped. Cost a few bucks but he earned it.

Back to the water meter place. Contractor was ALMOST done. Still wondering why he didn't use the big commercial job standpipes.

Filled up the trailer and hit the road. The pull was mostly routine. Just that the cruise control would not kick in for some reason.

Got to the place and filling her tank and a shallow pool were routine. Hitch was, that she usually gets along with her ex. But not today. He was in El Paso and loaned her his car because hers is presently Kaput. While she was out there, umpteen miles from nowhere, he reported his car as stolen!

She needed to get back to town but could not take his car without risking getting arrested with her kid on board! She parked his car and I gave her a ride.

First to my place to drop off the trailer and some groceries I'd gotten.

She wanted to go to Fabens to meet up with a friend coming out from El Paso to get her. Offered to take her and her kid right on into El Paso to Discount Tire where I am getting the replacement trailer tire. While on the way in, she gets a call from her ex. He has retracted the stolen report and she can drive his car back to his place! Seems he is semi screwed without it.

She sweetly informs him that she is nearly into El Paso and his car is umpteen miles out in the desert and SHE has the only keys for it! If his foot hurts, it is because he shot it himself. If he had not tried to play games on her, he'd have his car!

We got to Discount Tire and their place is being remodeled. Get to wait under a sunshade. Her ride shows and she takes off. All good, I guess.

While I am waiting, the shop employees come around with actually cold bottled water. Then an elderly man shows up with a hand push cart that has a dry ice box full of ice creams. The Mexican sort. Every flavor under the sun except the ordinary ones that we are used to. I got a coconut one first and then a genuine lemon flavor.

They were free. Discount Tire paid for them for all the folks waiting for tires in the heat.

Got my tire and had one replaced on the truck too. It was worn out. In my twenty years out here, that was only the fourth tire that I had to buy. Road Hazard warranties are wonderful.

Bought a sit down dinner and headed home. Got there about eight thirty or nine. Worn to a fraz. Had a cold ice tea out of the fridge and went to bed.

And got UP!! ANTS!! Sprayed down the bed and bedding and actually got to sleep.

If you do get ants almost anywhere, sprays containing DEET work very well to stop the little buggers dead. Not as poison as, say Raid or that ilk. Just don't put it on any fresh food nor use it around pet birds.

[…] Quella che segue è l’analisi di Roberta Bruzzone, classe 1973, psicologa forense e criminologa, volto televisivo molto noto.

La genesi del delitto compiuto da Filippo Turetta si spiega nel rapporto, durante l’infanzia, con la madre?

«Io, in lui, ravviso tratti caratteristici del disturbo narcisistico di personalità nella sua versione più subdola, quella passivo-aggressiva, o covert. Questo tipo di disturbo della personalità si sviluppa nei primi tre anni di vita. Lui ha sviluppato un io molto fragile, con una teoria disfunzionale della mente degli altri. Non dico sia colpa della madre ma probabilmente questo ragazzo, per sviluppare una personalità così disturbata, nei primi tre anni di vita non ha ricevuto modelli di attaccamento adeguati».

Pensando al complesso edipico, in una famiglia tradizionale la madre sbaglia a essere troppo affettiva e condiscendente nei confronti del figlio o dei figli maschi?

«Anche nelle famiglie apparentemente funzionali, molte madri tendono a riservare ai figli maschi un trattamento privilegiato, preservandoli, ad esempio, da una serie d’incombenze domestiche. Ancor oggi, molte madri sono predisposte a non responsabilizzarli nell’abitazione, come se fossero badanti, le donne delle pulizie dei propri figli. Questo modello è più subdolo di quanto si creda.

A Domenica in, un’inviata, donna evoluta e con strumenti, ha detto: “Ora Elena, la sorella di Giulia, è rimasta la sola donna di casa e dovrà prendersi cura del fratello e del padre”. Una frase che dice tutto di ciò che ancora c’è nella testa della gente. Nel 2023 è preoccupante pensare che solo una donna si debba prender cura degli altri».

Oggi, una famiglia è in grado di educare i figli e le figlie a reagire adeguatamente a possibili traumi sentimentali?

«È difficile generalizzare, però la madre italiana media tende a fare del figlio una sorta di “piccolo Buddha”, perché aver avuto un maschio è come se la riscattasse dalla sua condizione di femmina. Siamo un Paese in cui, ridendo e scherzando, quando ti sposi, si dice ancora “Auguri e figli maschi”.

La stessa Giulia Cecchettin probabilmente, per un certo periodo, ha scambiato l’estrema presenza, l’assedio di Filippo, che non le consentiva di fare nulla da sola, come segnale di grande interesse, ma quando ha sentito che l’aria le mancava, ha cominciato a capirne, senza coglierla fino in fondo, la pericolosità. Lui l’ha manipolata, come fanno i covert, anche attraverso continue minacce di suicidio».

Il narcisismo maligno, tuttavia, può caratterizzare anche la personalità di una donna?

«Certo, il narcisismo è una modalità di funzionamento. Non ci sono copyright di genere. Sicuramente ci sono in giro molte narcisiste in grado di fare dei danni. Ma è difficile, anche se non impossibile, che la componente femminile arrivi a esiti violenti».

[…] Qual è l’approccio educativo più efficace, nelle famiglie, nei confronti di figli e figlie, per intraprendere una futura relazione di coppia?

«La miglior prevenzione è educarli in maniera tale che pensino di non aver bisogno di qualcuno da controllare, per stare al mondo. Tutti gli esseri umani di questa Terra dovrebbero essere autonomi: possono incontrarsi, stare insieme, separarsi. In un perimetro di autonomia, anche la fine di una storia diventa gestibile perché tu, comunque, sai di poter contare su te stesso e di poter vivere anche senza quella persona».

[…] Tornando all’assassinio della povera Giulia, il suo partner era molto competitivo nei confronti della ragazza.

«Era una competizione viscerale, sotterranea, ma terribile da parte di lui. La situazione è precipitata proprio a ridosso della laurea, un traguardo che non avrebbe tagliato con lei».

In una coppia sana e che funziona, è normale che vi sia competizione?

«Normale non lo è. In una coppia dovrebbe esserci una condizione sinergica. Ognuno collabora con le proprie forze per gestire al meglio la situazione. Le dinamiche competitive, di solito, tradiscono nella coppia la presenza di una personalità narcisistica».

[…] Esiste anche una casistica di coppie con uomini innamorati, fedeli, non violenti e persino servizievoli, che finiscono schiavizzati. Che consiglia a un uomo alle prese con una tale relazione tossica?

«Abbiamo a che fare con soggetti che hanno tratti dipendenti di personalità o addirittura un disturbo dipendente di personalità, che ti porta a pensare che l’unico modo per sentirti adeguato è che sei disposto a fare, per amore, anche le peggiori cose, a sacrificarti in ogni modo e a subire umiliazioni. Se hanno una personalità dipendente, l’unico modo per cercare di uscirne è fare un percorso psicoterapico. Difficilmente ne escono diversamente».

In una relazione sentimentale, quali sono i problemi prevalenti delle donne di oggi? «Moltissime ragazze e donne di ogni età hanno un fortissimo bisogno di avere un uomo a fianco per sentirsi convalidate in quanto donne, come se l’assenza di un uomo le facesse risultare incomplete e inadeguate. Hanno bisogno di un punto di riferimento nella figura maschile e, pur di tenerselo, si accontentano, abbastanza facilmente, anche di uomini terribili». […]

Lilli Gruber ha accusato Giorgia Meloni di sostenere una cultura patriarcale. Ma c’è anche chi ha dato della femminista al premier. Come la mettiamo?

«Io credo che la Meloni sia un esempio di rottura con la cultura patriarcale e ritengo che abbia sfondato un tetto di cemento armato. Come prima donna a occupare il ruolo di premier in Italia, si rapporta con i grandi del mondo senza fare un passo indietro. Secondo me è un modello molto potente di porsi, sotto il profilo femminile. Temo che molte donne, sotto la cultura patriarcale, possano vederla come un termine di paragone molto scomodo».

Hier eine Übersicht der angefertigten Inszenierungen.

Auffällig ist es, dass bei allen einen hohen Anteil von Braun zu sehen ist. Leider fast zu extrem, weshalb ich dies auch ändern will.

Am Besten gefällt mir bis jetzt die dritte Inszenierung, das grösste der drei Bilder, da der unterschiedliche Farbanteil höher ist. Wie ich schon im vorhergegangen Post geschrieben habe, werde ich die Faben mehr der Einrichtung anpassen.

Ausserdem werde ich auch mit anderen Farbkombinationen arbeiten, welche ich bis jetzt noch nicht habe.
