i met our landlord three seperate times and each time he looked different (once he had a whole medical boot on which he didn’t mention or explain). i don’t know if it’s my memory or not but i swear he was a slightly different height each time and, while the boot may have helped, i think he might have been three different men. london landlords are another plane of reality. we never got a co detector or a smoke alarm and whenever we called him there was traffic noise

when and why did you start your blog?

WAY BACK WHEN in ye olde 2009 i ditched good old mibba for this place, even though nothing about tumblr screamed “creative writing/fan fiction site,” BUT my friends all came here so i followed. and i’m p sure i’m the only one out of my gang who is still here on this godforsaken website l o l

ideal weather conditions?

chilly with clear skies!!!! a few fluffy clouds are permissible, encouraged even

i just love simultaneously feeling cold air and sunshine on my skin, i like to have it both ways

favorite flavors of ice cream?

cookie dough is my usual go-to but i recently tried a new bluebell flavor called “bride’s cake” that’s like, almond and amaretto with little cake pieces and it was. my fave. i also really like birthday cake flavor?? basically anything with chunks of cake or dough... im sorry if that’s disgusting lmao

a language you wish you could speak?

like..... so many. i wish i spoke spanish, rather than only being able to read and write in it... i wish i could learn german, and korean, and greek.. i’d even learn latin if i ever had the energy

how do you relax?

usually under my covers, on my side, my laptop propped up sideways against my knee, watching something funny like Golden Girls. sometimes a form of dessert or pizza is involved

three places you want to travel to?

IDK if this really counts but i would give anything to be able to travel back to britain and just. chill there for a long time. i miss it a lot

but!! aside from that i’ve always wanted to visit east asia, especially japan and korea... i’d love to visit greece, or egypt, or jerusalem... i’ve always wanted to visit lithuania too bc that’s where the largest chunk of my ancestry comes from. i’d love to go pm anywhere and everywhere, though

Are you a social or an antisocial person?I’m….neither?  And both?  I’m an outgoing introvert, and I can fake it to make it if I have to.  I would say I’m very sociable rather than social, but with anti-social tendencies. Sometimes I just need to not with people, even though I need them in my life. This. was a non-answer, woops.

34. If you had to delete one year of your life completely, which would it be?That’s tough.  In the past I would say 1998 because that’s the year my parents got divorced and it fucked me up real bad.  In recent memory though I would say….2016.  It was so rough on me, I came out of it broken, tired and less mentally healthy than I was before.  Honestly I would rather delete months and chunks of years than whole years, there’s never been a year that’s been 100% bad. 2015, 2016 and 1998 were pretty shit though.

42. Is your life anything like it was two years ago?Ahahahaha no.  It was better two years ago, even if the year itself treated me like garbage.  I had a job that paid enough for me to survive on even if it was in retail, a place to live that I really liked, I had a community of friends and was working towards being a person I really liked who did cool things with cool people.  Now I have a masters degree and fuck all else.

@faantine hdgahdkkdg it's this story about a time this lady went to see the original performances of richard iii with richard burbage and liked it so much she invited burbage to her rooms afterwards but only if he was in character (weird as fuck tbh). but shakespeare got wind of it and went earlier and was let in. when he was in there (presumably doing his thing) burbage came along and was pissed off but shakespeare apparently popped his head out of the window and told him to leave because 'william the conqueror had reigned before richard iii'

I’m tentatively reading ‘A Clockwork Orange,’ which I’m finding kind of hard going, but I’m getting there!!

4: What was the last book you added to your tbr?

I just added a TON of random children’s fantasy from Goodreads suggestions (Are you sensing a theme here)

5: Which book did you last re-read? 

I’m trying not to re-read at the moment because I have SO MUCH to read already, but I listen to at least a couple of the Harry Potter audiobooks every year or so, I just finished Order of the Phoenix.

8: Paperback or hardcover? Why?

I’m a sucker for a fancy hardback, but I’m a paperback gal at heart.

35: Name a book you consider to be terribly underrated 

I LOVE ‘Vernon God Little,’ which won the Man Booker then kind of fell off the radar, I think? But it’s an INCREDIBLE book, it’s grimy and funny and fast-paced and just THE BEST, read it!!

Ditto ‘Skin Lane,’ which I picked up at random in a bookshop in Hay on Wye and fell in love with, it’s a slow burner about a middle aged man who becomes obssessed with a teenage boy and its heart-breaking.

36: Name a book you consider to be terribly overrated

I already answered this but then I remembered how much I hate ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’

47: What do you do to get out of a reading slump?

Audiobooks and plays are great because they’re really satisfying but there’s also a level of instant gratification which is GREAT when you’ve lost motivation to get through big novels
