It had felt like it was going to be a good weekend. You finally had time to accompany Lando to a race and everything just went perfectly. You arrived in Qatar together and you finally had the chance to meet his teammate Oscar. He was the sweetest guy and you immediately clicked, joking around and laughing all the time, while Lando pretended to be annoyed, when he actually loved seeing his partner and his teammate having fun together.

Everything worked out, just the way you hoped it would. And after what McLaren had accomplished recently, You were as hopeful as ever that the weekend would go perfectly for the Boys.

That was until Qualifying came around…

You had to watch in horror how lap time after lap time got deleted, until Lando was left in 10th place. You wanted to talk to him, calm him down, anything that would make him feel better, but he was caught up in interviews. And your heart broke, as you heard how he talked about himself. How he talked about a lack of talent, when all you wanted to do was grab his face and tell him that it wasn't his fault. The track in Qatar was horrible and everyone knew it. But the FIA just liked the money too much, to cancel it.

You had tried to talk to Lando after he was done with the interviews, but he was nowhere to be found. It was like he was a Ghost.

Fortunately, you ran into Oscar while searching for Lando. You shared a few words with the Australian and gave him a hug for his lost place, before he told you that Lando went to his driver's room and that he had asked to be left alone. You gulped, as you heard those words. You quickly said your goodbyes to Oscar, before you made your way to Lando, practically sprinting towards his driver's room.

Your heart was beating frantically, as you arrived in front of the wooden Door. You were at least mildly concerned about what was behind it. In what condition Lando was. You took a deep breath before you gently knocked on the door, calling out for your beloved:”Lando, are you in there?”

There was a short silence in which you thought that he might have left again already, but then you heard his voice. It was quiet and he sounded like he really needed a shoulder to cry on right now:“Please just leave, Y/N.

Without saying another word, you pushed down the door handle. It wasn't locked. You quietly stepped inside and looked around for Lando. Your heart broke, as you saw him sitting on the floor in the corner, his head in his hands and his shoulders slumped. He didn't look up to you, but continued to stare at the floor.

Slowly, you walked over to where he was sitting and leaned down to his height.

“Lando, are you okay?”, you asked him, even though you knew nothing was okay.

He only shook his head at your question, before finally looking up to you. He looked so incredibly beat down. His eyes looked like he had lost all hope to ever win something again and even though it was barely seeable, you noticed the dried tears on his cheeks. 

“I'm a disappointment, Y/N. The team did so much for me and all I did was to disappoint them.”, he sniffled, looking back down.

You gently grabbed his wrist, pulling him closer:”You´re not a disappointment, Lando.”

But he only shook his head again and slightly shoved your hand away:”What else am I then, hm? Even Oscar managed to get to P3 and he's a Rookie. Even he's better than me!”

You didn't know what to say for a second. You didn't think that Lando actually believed that. It showed you once again, how ruthless this sport could be and how strong the Driver´s had to be.

“Lando.”, you said again. This time a bit more firmly. You lifted your hand to gently cup his face to make him look at you,”When I look at you, I don't see a Disappointment. I see an incredibly talented young man, who has achieved what most people could only dream of, a man who will achieve even more. I see a sweet and loving boyfriend, who never fails to make me smile. A Boy, who hates to eat fish and doesn´t understand the Australian accent, but a disappointment is really not what I would think of.”

The Boy in question only looked at you for a few seconds, before he pulled you in a tight hug. With the way he held onto you, you knew that he needed this hug. He needed you right then and there. So, you hugged him back just as tightly, drawing small circles on his back to calm him down. 

After a few minutes of just holding each other and enjoying each other's presence, You finally parted.

“Thank you,Y/N.”, Lando mumbled,”I really needed that.”

You smiled at the boy in front of you. His face had lit up a bit and after the hug, a few curls of his still slightly damp hair were dangling into his face. You raised your hand and gently pushed them out of his face:”Of course, Love.”

You leaned forward, softly kissing his forehead. You saw how he closed his eyes and took a deep breath in, just enjoying the moment.

“What do you say to a shower and something to eat before the Sprint, hm?”, You finally asked, standing up and holding your hands out to him.

Lando quickly took your hands with a small smile on his face:“That would sound like all I need right now.”

With a chuckle, you kissed his cheek one more time, before you led him out of the driver´s room.

“Are you gonna join me in the shower?”, Lando asked quietly, a bit of his cheekiness already returning.

“Don´t push your luck, Norris.”, You grinned. But both of you knew that you could never deny his requests to spend time with him.

Hey I just want to know something: am I the stupidest person on the planet or the f1 fandom is built differently?

Everytime I go on a social media to look up f1 content I see cute/horny (let's be honest) edits and everybody calling the drivers pookie or making memes. And that's alright, I guess.

I most definitely know that a bunch of (mostly white) men in a very competitive male-dominated sport rooted more than many others in capitalism are probably going to have scandals around them. I am not that dumb. I also know that because probably none of them is scandal-free and people who get crushes/hyperfixation on them just learn to live with them, but I didn't think they just...ignored them? Swept them under the rug? Let me explain.

When I so much as stumble on a TikTok with a song by The 1975 or McCafferty- or hell even Lovejoy recently- I see comments flooding with "bUt DoN't YoU kNoW tHeY'rE pRoBlEmAtIC?". Same happened with content about cinema or books. And on Tumblr happens less but still happens. As soon as you mention something that has ties with sexism, racism, homophobia, etc. people will soon point it out to you. Maybe because they're some of those people with the obsession of only consuming "morally pure" content, maybe they genuinely want to inform you, maybe they fucking hate that song/book/movie and want to give YOU a reason to dislike it.

But can someone tell me if I'm fucking dumb and I managed to stumble in the wrong part of instagram/tumblr/TikTok or NOBODY fucking talks about the shit some drivers have done? Because I am stumbling on a LOT of shit done by drivers I really liked lately even though I have been interested in F1 for a while now. Not too long, but enough that I think I would have heard some stuff.

Like, if I spent like 6 months on the hashtag of Guy Who Drives, why am I now finding out that they said something really discriminatory? I am just confused, I simply thought it would have popped out sooner, but apparently it was buried under 500+ posts about their abs? Like what?

I get that anyway it's not like you can cancel a driver, no matter what shit they say they'll probably still going to be racing the next weekend, but why people don't talk about it? Was my socials' fault for showing me horny posts everytime I simply looked up the name of a guy or do people don't talk about this stuff in the f1 community because "what are you gonna do anyway"?

I am leaning towards the second option because there are a few things that happened while I was already watching f1 (not in order: Lando's comments about, Trump, Hornergate, most drivers saying Hornergate was just noise) and at first people were talking about it but then they just...stopped? Like, I don't know, personally the words of disenterest many drivers expressed about Hornergate made me change my opinion about them at least a little and people seemed so outraged at first but now...it's like it never happened. Everybody back thirsting on main for Ricciardo, Norris, etc.

Genuine question, is the general response of the f1 community to these behaviours "forgive and forget in time of the next gp"? Am I missing something? I don't think they should be crucified but why I have not seen more people talking about this stuff? The "serious sport bunch" seems to be uninterested in "gossip" or whatever happens outsid the tracks, the good old fashioned fandom is writing fanfiction/making edits/funny posts, who keeps tracks of this stuff?

I have never been interested in a sport before. In the artistic world (cinema, literature, etc.) some scandals can get you out of a job and a long lasting hatred from the community. In motorsports, because the success of a driver does not depend from his fans' engagement but can be "objectively proved" by results and victories, do people just...make peace with the fact that some athletes are pieces of shit?

I want to specify it one more time, I am NOT saying LET'S CANCEL ALL THE DRIVERS AND BOO THEM BECAUSE THEY HAVE DONE SOMETHING QRONG AT SOME POINT, I am asking:

how do you deal when an athlete you cheer for does something really fucked up, and you know other athletes in the same field are no saints?

Max Verstappen x male!reader Request

Summary: Max had been away for three weeks. As he finally returns from his trip for Red Bull, you're more than exited

To say that I was exited was an Understatement. Max had been away for three weeks now, flying around the world, doing stuff and Promo for Red Bull, while the Winter break.

I was no question, that I was exited to see him again.

I was walking up and down in the hallway of our apartment. I had been waiting for his arrival for the whole day, but half an hour ago, Max had texted me, that he arrived on the airport and was now in a cab on his way home.

My thoughts were racing, as I heard how the dorr to our apartment opened. Keys were thrown away and Shoes were discarded and only seconds later, I saw Max standing in the doorway. He looked rushed and his breathing was going heavy. But the moment our eyes met, a grin appeard on his face.

"I missed you.", He mumbled.

I couldn't help but laugh. I was so happy to see him again, as I finally walked over to him. 

"I missed you too, my Champion", I said as I wrapped my arms around his middle.

Max giggled at my nickname for him and I felt how he softly kissed my neck. We parted a little , so that he could plant a kiss on my cheek, before pecking my lips.

I just looked at him for a second. HIs blue eyes that observed me so intently, his strong arms that were wrapped around me, the disshelved hair and his light stuble.

He was perfect in my eyes. There is nothing more that I would want in a Partner. He was all, I would ever need.

"Let's put your stuff away", I finally muttered and we were actually able to part, so that we could grab Max'suitcases. 

"How was your trip by the way?", I asked, as we sorted through his clothes in the bedroom.

"I mean", Max eexplained,"It was fun i guess, but it would've been much better if you were with me."

I smiled at his words:"Next time, I promise."

"yeah sure, Captain.", Max laughed.

"Oh come on!", I complained and threw a T-Shirt at him. He had invented that nickname, since I started coaching a little athletics group here in Monaco. Which was exactly the reason, why I didn't join him on his trip. The kids took part in a tournament and what kind of Coach would I be if I left them behind?

"Did your Team at least win?", Max asked as he helped me stand up again.

"No", I mumbled and let myself fall down on the king sized bed,"But we got second place."

"You'll win next year.", Max encouraged me, as he let himslef fall down next to me.

"Oh I'm not upset", I smiled, as I turned around to face him,"the Kids had fun adn that's all that matters."

"You're right", Max agreed, as he inched closer. He raised his hand to softly caress my face.

"I truly missed you, Captain."He mumbled.

"I missed you too, Champion", I gtinned and leaned down to kiss him. For a second, I really felt at home, but then my eyes widened,as I felt how Max pulled me on top of him.

"What are you doing?!", I yelped, but before he could answer, my heaad hit his chest and I was fully lying on top of Max. I saw how he pulled a blanket over us.

"Let's just rest for a while", He explained with a smile on his lips.

"It's the middle of the day,.", I chuckled.

But Max was already closing his eyes, as he pulled me closer to him:"I don't care. I want to spend time with you"

"Yeah, you're probably right.",I agreed and laid my head down on his chest. I felt how Max breath grew calmer by the second.

"Max?", I mumbled before I closed my eyes too.

"Mmh?", he hummed.

"I love you.", I said softly and wrapped my arms around him a little tighter.

"I love you too, Captain.", Max mumbled before the two of us finally drifted of to sleep.

Characters? Formula 1 drivers are babies compared to the psychos on the MotoGP grid. The problem, though, is that Dorna sucks at marketing them. They don't sell their product well, and it's hard to find content about MotoGP outside of their social channels. They constantly block other people who try to make edits, videos, etc. How are you supposed to market something when you don't let the product be shown outside of your small sphere of influence?

Like the dumb decision to put their after-season reality show only on their site and make people wait months before finally releasing it for everyone. Their pricing on their site is also not competitive. They don't adjust their prices to what different regions can afford. On top of that, they keep focusing everything on just two or three riders. The other riders, who also have great personalities, barely get shown in the races, in the media, or on their socials. Formula 1 has done a great job of making people care about more than just the top three guys. They make people like the underdogs, the guys at the back of the field, etc. Dorna doesn't care about that, and the press doesn't help either. They focus everything on just one guy, and everyone else is portrayed as less interesting, so we barely hear or see anything about them. Like It's not that the MotoGP product is worse — it's not. It has better racing, compelling characters, etc. The problem is that Dorna just hasn't marketed it properly
