We're flux buddies!
YAY F.LUX! I truly can't overstate how important a role that thing plays and has played in my daily life.
I turn it off for things like editing photos or if I'm playing a game in the darkness hours that is NOT a "sleepy" game (like in the winter where it gets dark at fucking 4 pm). If it's fully on and I turn it off I'm always like AAAAAAHHH MY EYES THE BRIGHTEST BLUEST LIGHT OF 500 SERAPHIM INSIDE AN APPLE STORE. And then I'm like how do I look at this all day long?? (Then I get used to it in like 30 seconds)
And then if for some reason I forget to put it back on, it'll be 2 in the morning and I'm suddenly like huh why am I wide the fuck awake reading wikipedia about Uzbekistan and not remotely sleepy? oh. whoops

I figured out what calculations to do to transfer animations from the Bugsnax player rig to an NPC rig, and put a few onto the Filbo model I modified into the Journalist, but I'm not sure what to do with it now. I've got their idle animation, their walking animation, their crouching animation, their crouching and walking animation, some jumping stuff, and their on fire animation, but maybe there's some others I can add? A lot of the tool using animations clip through their body, so they don't look as good from a third person perspective.
Their face almost never moves because the player doesn't have a face to animate, which is also a problem. I guess I could... learn to actually animate. Or steal another character's face animation, like I did with the default expression. This model can do expressions, but that's because expression animations are the same for every character, so I just used the ones from Filbo's animation file.
I think their shoulders are a bit janky still too. I should see if I can fix that. And I'm not totally happy with some of the eye colours.
Heheheh, look at 'em go. They don't know they're trapped in Blender for the foreseeable future.
#Bugsnax#Bugsnax Journalist#Definitely need to fix those yellow eyes#I thought it might be f.lux making them look bad here so I disabled it and...#It actually looked better with f.lux on#It took forever to get their head to swivel in the right way but I think I have it now#Stupid quaternions

lunch break upload! timelapse o’ a kujen <3 this digital pencils style was a bit of an experiment and the process was sooo much fun to refine. you can tell it’s digital because of how the white interacts with the black (or rather how it doesn’t) but i’m pretty pleased w/ how closely it matches the look of when i do it on real paper.
process notes:
i started by scanning in a paper sketch & a blank sheet of Strathmore toned gray paper (with the saturation on the gray paper turned to zero to remove the warm tone), & then started figuring out the outfit digitally
you can see me almost incorporate the ruffle from this Valentino 2023 minidress and then i took a break to think about it while drawing the cuff and decided i didn’t have room for it lmao
Three brushes: Artemis Big Boy pencil, Clip’s default “wet blotting ink”, and this Textured Blender. I try not to blend the edges of the wet ink too much, but where I do, a textured blender looks better than Clip’s defaults.
the only trick to the pencil part is that the pencil brush can get smaller/sharper, but you have to pick a maximum size and stick with it. big solid areas must be hatched or filled in with the ink brush and thicker lines must be constructed out of thinner lines, or it looks goofy and amateur. I had a couple false starts before I realized, well, duh, this is how pencils work in real life.
literally everything is either #000000 or #FFFFFF i didn’t touch the color wheel at all it was great
#no sound#art process#about an hour of work?#maybe two#in a black & white mood lately and also i need f.lux on a truly heinous shade of orange to do computer things atm#which. obviously. makes color kind of difficult. so this is perfect#i started at 2b/2c and i inch closer to 3a with every doodle

i've been playing honkai: star rail for the past few days and i love it so much
there's a few localisation issues (spoken lines say a different word from the subtitle; some lines are written awkwardly) but it's very charming overall & there's a lot of humour in it
march and dan heng are rly good 4-star beginner companions and for once in my hoyoverse life i'm actually using a shielder AND a healer
#keg wrecks#in genshin impact i have literally 1 main dps 2 sub dps and 1 support/crowd control that i also tbh use as sub dps#but h:sr is turn-based combat so i have to adapt to using shields & a healer#there's a lot of stuff you can do & it feels very rewarding in terms of like#the people that your character interacts with. you interact with a lot of npcs in quests & idle chat#and they have opinions on you & other characters in the area#im rly enjoying it so far LOL#however my motion sickness absolutely fucking hates me & im having to use f.lux#to lower the blue light and up the red light

this is an ANCIENT post that i found while perusing the gorrik tag but i want to mention one possible explanation! the Inquest Technician mob type actually has a few different variants, one of which uses dual twin fangs!
you'll notice the "stuns - bouncing projectile - enhances allies" up there as well, which is also the skill text for inquest technicians
its possible that for spaghetti code reasons, they had to make gorrik & ankka use data from a mob type or something, and so they kind of 'inherited' those from that mob type. it could also be a fun little easter egg indicating they were ranked as technicians in the inquest at the time :-) which i like the idea of!
so have you noticed these two in the dormitory hallway of the Thaumanova Reactor fractal? let’s read into the details
first up, gotta acknowledge how gorrik’s curled up on the floor and majorly freaking out, while ankka’s just sitting there calmly while the reactor goes critical and their coworker’s limp body stares them down from across the room. neat to see that their personalities have stayed fairly consistent since they were young, despite… everything!
they’re both dual-wielding the Twin Sisters swords! pricy, and great for a power build. i don’t think i’ve noticed many inquest members with those (and honestly, the inquest would too stingy to hand them out to interns). maybe gorrik and ankka acquired the swords while working on a project together? crafted them? stole them? is the fact the swords are Sisters intentional on a meta level?
incidentally, neither engineers nor necromancers can dual wield swords. maybe they dabbled in different professions while working with the inquest? or maybe they just woke up to blaring alarms and screams, and just grabbed the nearest weapons they could find. why would there be swords in their dormitory? maybe they were another intern’s experiment. maybe they’re infused with “chaos magic” themselves. this speculation is getting tangential and i am moving on now.
it’s hard to tell in the screenshot, but young gorrik doesn’t have glasses! i wonder if his vision was damaged due to his proximity to the reactor incident. although knowing gorrik, maybe he just stuck his face into a plate of beetles one day, for science.
if the reactor explosion IS the cause of gorrik’s poor vision, it’d be likely ankka was affected in some way too. chaos magic does wild stuff. and being disabled is hard, even with an “invisible” disability. i could go on to ramble about how this could have shaped the trajectory of her life, but this post is long enough whoops

Hi there ! I absolutely love your photos (I only just realized that a bunch of studyblr photos I've recently fallen in love with were yours!)
I was curious if you had any tips for taking good photos/editing them? I find that my photos don't seem to quite have the same good lighting as others' and would truly appreciate any advice you might have on the matter.
Thank you and have a great day!!!!
Thank you!! 🤩 (have to say, I’m a big fan of your blog)
I actually don’t edit my photos that much! Sometimes I might blur or crop out identifying information, but I rarely mess with the colors or shadows of a pic, and if I do, it’s just with the limited tools in the Apple Photos editor. I mostly curate my posts really heavily — for every posted picture, there are 24+ blurry bad ones that didn’t make the cut. Besides that, I do have a couple of general tips:
Prioritize light colored notebooks, papers, pens, etc. since they reflect more light and make an image seem brighter. Select matte over shiny. Photographing shiny black objects is very hard!
Pay attention to shadow and contrast. Hard, flat light (like full sun at an acute angle) in the warm spectrum photographs really well. Most of my favorite pics have been taken between 7-10 am or 4-7 pm. It can be helpful to haunt a handful of study spaces so that you can predict how the light will behave.

It really is about what you’re photographing. I like the way that paper, ceramic, leather, and glass refract light so I tend to have more of those objects around. I have a hard time photographing cloth, so I don’t do bed-spreads or carpet/floor layouts.
Be careful with blue light! Snapping pics of computer screens sucks because it adds a hard, blue square to an image that can be really jarring. Put f.lux or some other color filter on your laptop and take the pic from an angle to limit the amount of blue. Likewise, I try to avoid taking pics in the very early morning or under fluorescents.
Be careful with dappled or fractionated light. It can look very cool but depends on what’s being photographed (ex: left is fun, right is disorganized even though they have the same lighting situation).

It can be helpful to have a tiny guide/reference photo for each batch, or even a HEX code that you aim for. Honestly, I use the avatar thumbnail for this blog. If I put a picture next to it and squint, do they seem consistent? If they do, post! It helps with getting that warm luminous quality that I particularly like.
And lastly, always give yourself permission NOT to take a pic! My worst pictures come when I force them and the best ones are when I’m busy studying only to look up and go “woah, pretty!” You can boost your chances by sitting alone near a window & using all your favorite supplies, but it really is somewhat up to the Fates!

Oh, also
I've seen some people talk about how they enjoy seeing people reactions to the twist at the end of bugsnax but personally my favorite reaction to whiteness when people join the bugsnax fandom is when they learn Filbo is canonically 6 feet tall and Wambus is almost 8 feet tall
#Bugsnax#Wambus Troubleham#I could not resist I'm sorry#I thought tumblr murdered the quality but I just had f.lux on so the blue was indistinguishable from black

Skatha likes to run around naked as a treat, as all good demon hunters should be allowed to do
drew this with f.lux on can't wait to see what it actually looks like in the morning lol
still not totally decided on her design, should probably give her some illidari tattoos, and i'm imagining when she goes meta-form her face splits open and the big gloomhound skull pushes through, so i wanna make some markings hinting at that 🤔 maybe change her hair, since i don't like the matching model in-game? try out a blindfold? much to think about. i never play her but she's fun to draw :)
#my art#demon hunter#illidari#skatha riptail#her bonded demon is an antoran gloomhound#totally not an ex-draken i only slightly changed :^)#world of warcraft
