thinking about C.able starting a habit of reading whatever to me in bed because I already irl need to play random youtube videos to fall asleep to, and it would be way cuter and cozy if I got to be snuggled up to him and he stroked my hair and my back, and kept checking to see if I had nodded off yet. feeling his voice rumble in his bare chest soooo soft and low. punctuating his narration with kisses in my hair🥺🥺 maybe he then gets settled to go to sleep himself, turns the light off, gives me a few featherlight kisses on my hairline and forehead and nose, and pulls me close with arms around my waist. or maybe he ever so carefully gets up to tinker with his own tech stuff glancing behind him every so often to watch me sleep and make my little noises and breathe softly...

I love to think about Wade becoming a huge shipper of me and C.able, it brings me so much joy 😭😭💓like he sees it all unfold cause it's a slowburn unlikely friends to lovers kind of thing. and he wants us to kiss and confess our love to each other so bad. idk kind of a guilty pleasure of mine to imagine other characters thinking how cute and in love we are with each other and recognising the strength of our bond 😭

I’m distraught...OLD MAN PREGNANCY DRAMA. AND PAIN. the silent deafening longing. Like the impossible dream of it all, even as someone who personally would 100% make the same decisions as in the fic, and wishing you could want to want the happy family, white picket fence thing. But you just can’t, not in this life. When you mention his family that really got me cause I loveee torturing myself with that angst, and feeling like you’ll never have all of his heart. You can only have this small flickering thing- which is not to say that it doesn't deeply impact the both of you deeply or that it isn't complex and profound. But that it can never be anything more than what it is, not a grand love story or a fairytale ending. Your love will be witnessed by few people and forgotten in time, but it was important and real between the two of you in the fleeting life it had. The way this fic has such an atmosphere of quiet and tenderness and you can really feel how much he cares about you, but you’re also both so heartbreakingly stoic about it. The characterisation is perfection and you bring C.able to life so beautifully, the balance between how he can be so brusque and tough but also so caring, thoughtful and supportive.

Excerpt

You get plenty of time to agonize before the triple locks on your front door open and the mercenary in questions steps inside. There’s the heavy thud of his bag hitting the floor, the slight grunt as he kicks his boots off. You don’t see any of it but you know his routine by now.

“Got any beer?” he calls, still ridding himself of equipment. You almost do something stupid, like call out a comment about how he’ll have to stay sober in solidarity with you. Not the time for jokes, you remind yourself. Eventually, he makes his way into the kitchen where he finds you on one of the creaky chairs. Even exhausted, Nate looks good. His hair’s due for a trimming, two sweaty strands threatening to fall into his eyes, and his forearm is smudged with something that smells of oil. He takes you in, your feet pulled up under you on the chair, but doesn’t seem to notice the items on the table. 

“What’s wrong?” he asks. You raise a hand, gesture to the line of pregnancy tests.

this is way chonky and heavy for my fingers (it was meant to be a... mens ring LOL)- I was smaller than the smallest available ring size. Anyways bought this ring cause it makes me think of C.able :)
