"Excuse me, do you have an appointment?" Sable doesn't like random people wandering around the council building -- particularly not when they are quite so, er, gooey. A few decades of marriage to a mutant, and a mutant daughter, and she's still a little uneasy around such visible mutations. She's going to guess this person is one of Adonis', but if so, security really shouldn't have let him loose. Sable's icy smile is for Ezra, but also the security personnel she'll have to speak to later. God, she hopes Dodge wasn't on duty; he's difficult to be sharp with. @buriedwithit (for Ezra)

Miju cannot pretend not to stare at the blood that trickles down this man's arm. It looks foul; it looks intoxicating. The tips of his fangs rest, just barely, on his lower lip. Is this how most people feel when they see a greasy burger? You know it's terrible for you but it just looks a little bit too delicious to pass up? "Why does it look like that?" And then, an afterthought: "--Oh. And are you okay?" @buriedwithit (ezra)

Theo has always had an affinity for brightness and sunshine - blame it on Dolly and Jess. And he's always thought the Damned HQ was supremely depressing. Just because they're underground doesn't mean they have to be so grim about it! So they begin 'unwinding' a 'strip of something', starting at the wall and retreating with it to a safe distance. When appropriately far back, they reach into their pocket with a flourish and retrieve a 'box' -- all of this is completely invisible, of course -- and 'strikes a match'. When he 'touches' the 'match' to the 'strip of something', a very audible sizzling is emitted.
The sound runs quickly to the wall, and results in a sharp boom as a hole is blown in the wall. Theo was ready to celebrate the sunlight that would surely now be flooding in, except... he'd blown up a section of wall, not roof, so the hole only reveals more dark and dingy underground. Their mouth turns down in a pouty frown, and they're about to start 'unwinding' more 'explosives' when they realise somebody saw that. Theo covers their mouth with a silent oopsie -- it always takes him a second to start using his words again after a miming. @buriedwithit

Tee hee! Bina is thrilled, truly. He walks right into her wishes. She glows at the praise, hugging the flowers close to her chest. “You’re really sweet.” she tells him. “You know, you look kind of like a bad boy. Are you one of those bad boys with a heart of gold?” She doubts it, actually. Not to judge a book by its goopy cover, but Ezra seems pretty clearly to be trouble. But maybe that’s even more fun… wouldn’t it be great, if a real piece-of-shit-bad-boy could have a heart of gold just for her?
"really? nobody?" ezra finds that hard to believe. normally, he would have even registered her angle—compliment fishing—but there's just something about her that demands he take her seriously. "is this city just a bunch of twats? how could anyone look at you and not promise all the flowers in the world?"

In a move that would've made a linebacker proud, Ezra barreled straight into the figure before him, managing to catch her arms before they both went down. Her constant appearances around the city warranted his suspicion, especially with the rise of Onyx Circuit activity. But irritation mixed with a dose of guilt, since he'd nearly bulldozed her over. "Fantastic. You again. Tell me why I keep finding you in places you shouldn't be?" He released her quickly, needing distance. Something about this woman made him question his own judgment. Every instinct screamed she was dangerous, yet she projected such a convincing image of innocence that he second-guessed his read.
The last time he'd rescued her from face-planting, he thought he’d never see her again. Yet here they were, face to face once more. Professional paranoia demanded he keep away from her. "I'm starting to think you're following me around on purpose." His tone stayed light, but he studied her response with the same focus he gave his security feeds. The near-collision left him rattled in ways that had nothing to do with physical balance. She represented exactly the kind of variable that disrupted his control, and after what happened in Chicago, he didn’t like knowing exactly who he was dealing with. She threw him completely off balance—like trying to solve a Rubik's cube where the colors kept changing every time he blinked. The more he tried to figure her out, the less sense she made.

Ghost Stories #01
Feat. Sabine Wren & Hera Syndulla
Story Context: Sabine tells Hera about her decision to be trained as a Jedi and is met with a cold reception.
"You're going to do what?" asked Hera, her voice almost a shout at the end.
Sabine blinked, taken aback at the Twi'lek's response. It was certainly not the one she had been expecting. They were sitting in the Ghost's communal area; outside, the constant buzz of machinery and maintenance tools from the ship crew could be heard as the old freighter underwent some much-needed repairs.
Feeling uneasy, Sabine leaned back in her seat and folded her arms. "I thought you'd be supportive," she said.
Hera massaged at her temples, grimacing. "And why would you think I'd be supportive of you being a Jedi?"
Feeling defensive, Sabine countered, "You were supportive when Ezra did it. And Kanan, too, when he decided to take up that mantle again. What makes me so different?"
"That was then. This is now," Hera replied. "This is not a good idea, Sabine."
Sabine narrowed her eyes at Hera. "Ahsoka seems to think so. You know, the actual Jedi."
"Former Jedi," Hera corrected. "And believe it or not, Ahsoka thinking so doesn't make me more convinced."
"What, you have an issue with her, too? You guys always seemed friendly to me."
"That was before Malachor," Hera shot back. "Where has she been all this time during the war? She hasn't said anything to anyone. She's different now. Less . . . I don't know, just less of herself, it seems."
Sabine couldn't argue with that. Talking with her master sometimes felt like trying to conversate with a rock. Whatever happened at that Sith Temple seemed to have robbed Ahsoka of her spirit; she seemed listless on some days, adrift from herself and others.
Desperately casting around for a change of subject, Sabine asked, "Where's Jacen?"
"With his grandfather on Ryloth," said Hera. "Don't try to change the subject, Sabine."
"Fine," Sabine snapped. "I don't understand why you're so hostile about this. It's my decision. I'm an adult. What are you going to do when Jacen starts showing an interest, huh?"
"I don't know!" Hera shouted, throwing her hands up. "I'm not - I'm not strong enough, okay?"
Sabine cocked her head at her friend. "What do you mean, 'not strong enough'?"
Hera hung her head. Hands clenching into fists, she suddenly banged them on the table. Sabine jolted in her seat from the abrupt display of anger.
"Hera?" asked Sabine quietly. "What's going on?"
"Kanan. Ezra. Ahsoka. And now - you," Hera muttered. "Maybe someday, even Jacen. I'm so sick of losing people. I'm not strong enough to lose you, too."
"Losing - what? You're not going to lose me like you did with Kanan, Hera. I promise. Ahsoka came back, too, even if she's not the same as before! She's still fighting! And Ezra's still out there."
Hera turned her face back to Sabine. The younger woman felt her heart twist, seeing the cascade of tears on the Twi'lek's face.
"You're already gone, don't you get it? I've lost you. Once you decide to take that mantle - when you add 'Jedi' to your name, it's over," Hera whispered miserably. "That's the truth of this galaxy, Sabine. Jedi die."
Sabine shook her head. "Kanan died. I know that still hurts for you. But I'm still here and I promise Ahsoka isn't going anywhere either. Neither is Jacen. I'll make sure of it myself. And I will bring Ezra back," she added fiercely.
Hera smiled bitterly. "It's better if you leave him out there. Even better if he's dead. Because if Ezra isn't dead, then that means the Force isn't done with him yet. That means Ezra is destined for more suffering. For more sacrifice and heartbreak."
The Twi'lek leaned forward, her eyes glassy with bottomless pain. "Leave him be, Sabine. Don't go looking for him anymore. If you love him at all, you'll let him go."
Sabine was silent. Then, in an icy tone, she replied, "You don't mean that, Hera. I know you don't."
Hera looked away, blinking rapidly. Then, quietly, she said, "You're right. I'm sorry."
She didn't know what to say to comfort Hera. It's clear her friend had been harboring some deep conflict over the fate of her Jedi loved ones. Sabine belatedly realized that her deciding to be a Jedi was, to Hera, probably adding to that conflict.
To that buried pain.
Jacen was destined to follow in his father's footsteps someday. Maybe Hera saw Sabine as a safe option - that she would never take up the mantle and responsibility one day and could be relied upon to never break her heart the same way that Kanan and Ezra did.
Sabine wondered if she ever had nightmares about burying her one day. Or Jacen. Or Ahsoka. Outliving them all.
She wanted to hug Hera in that moment so badly. But something in the Twi'lek's demeanor told her that it wouldn't be welcome.
She stood up and made to depart. "I'll let you get some rest, Hera. We'll talk later."
Still not looking at her, Hera gave the barest of nods in acknowledgement. Sabine turned to go -
"Sabine."
She paused at the hallway leading to the docking bay.
"Follow your heart. I'll always believe in you, no matter what."
Without turning around, Sabine said, "Thanks, Hera."
"Don't thank me," came the sad reply. "You're going to be a Jedi now. Just like Kanan and Ezra. I don't get to keep you anymore."
Sabine was quiet. Listening.
"You belong to the Force now. I know you'll do well. You always have. It's in your nature to rise and meet whatever challenges come your way."
Sabine felt touched by Hera's words, yet there was a chill in her blood from the solemn way she uttered them. Finally, she worked up the nerve to turn around and face her directly.
Hera just gazed at her, but not seeing her at all - seeing through her, was the better term.
Like she wasn't there.
Like she was already a ghost.
"You have an important role to play now, Sabine. And, just like the other Jedi I loved, you'll play it . . . to the very end."
*Author's Note: Hello! So, this is just a seed of a story. Sometimes, when I'm brainstorming ideas for Sabezra fics, I'll have these conversations/scenes between characters pop up in my head, out of context. I don't know if I'll ever include these in future fics but I've decided to just start writing them down and posting them here just to keep track of. I always have ideas bouncing inside my head for stories regarding Sabine, Ezra, and the Ghost crew in general, so there will be more of these little fic-lets, I guess the term is? Except these aren't really full-fledged stories. Just short scenes.
Anyway, the genesis for this is pretty simple: I've always been interested if Hera feels conflicted about all the Jedi in her life, seeing as though they've all been met with terrible fates. I find it odd that Hera in the Ahsoka series seems all onboard for Jacen training to be a Jedi, considering what happened to his father and Ezra (and Ahsoka, to a degree). As a mother, she has to feel some trepidation about encouraging Jacen to be a Jedi - especially in that day and age. And now with Sabine - someone who is like a daughter to her - resolving to take up the mantle of a Jedi, I wanted to write out a scene where all those buried negative feelings bursts forth. I'm realizing that this is probably veering Hera into out-of-character territory, but it makes for a really good, dramatic, and angsty conflict between her and Sabine.

her shift at the club hadn't been the typical one. it had started off as a bet between her and one of the bartenders. she hadn't thought that she would lose but she had. since she had lost she had been volunteered for the auction. it was a charity event that the club ran once every few months. there was no promise of anything besides what the person was willing to give. she had never imagined that an outright bidding war would commence or that ezra would be the winner. he was a regular there and he had always tipped her well. she had been very confused that he had wanted to win her in the first place. though he had told her that he would collect later on so she knew it was time for her to get some rest.
of course she had to wait for all the others to go before she ventured out to the parking lot. billie hadn't exactly told many about her current living situation. she had managed to scrape up enough money to buy a van and convert it so she could live in it. it wasn't as roomy as some people would like but it got the job done. she swapped out the tight top and skirt for some pajamas. after having a small bag of chips and some water, she was clambering into her bed.
of course since it was cold out she was crawling beneath four blankets. she had a space heater but she didn't want to leave it on when she was asleep. it felt like she had just barely passed out when there was a loud banging on the side door. she groaned as she rolled over, at first thinking it could be a cop. she was rolling over to look towards it and going to flip on the light from the small lamp she kept. she was going to slowly move to begin to yank the door open only to freeze when she realized who it was," wh-what are you doing here?"

"hey, you have to stop..." she moans out, her hips shifting towards the hand he has pressed between her thighs, the friction of them moving against each other sending shivers down her spine. one of her hands is moving to grab at the wrist that's pinned between them, her delicate slender fingers grasping at him, nails digging in slightly as he applies more pressure to her clit, causing another moan to echo through the tiny room. "ezra." delta tries to keep her voice steady as she uses her other hand to push at his jaw, turning his face so they're looking into each others eyes. "we can't keep doing this."

she had decided to make a surprise visit to her friend. plus she wanted to know how everly was doing given everything. she knew that the blonde had dealt with a lot more then the rest of them in a sense. plus she was going a little stir crazy in her apartment. the sad thing was that there were still the wannabe reporters camping out in front of her building. thankfully she was able to get by them without too much trouble. since she didn't have a car she had gotten herself a uber. the trip wasn't a crazy long one since she lived in the middle of town.
to say she was surprised when she saw ezra's truck was an understatement. she had figured that he wouldn't be home. so she found herself walking up the front path and knocking on the door. the second that it opened she saw ezra and he didn't seem all that happy. in fact he actually seemed to be annoyed and she went to take a few steps inside," no offense but um i wasn't here for you." she didn't even look to see his reaction and instead glanced around. it became clear that everly wasn't home which probably explained why ezra looked like someone kicked his puppy.
"and apparently not here for everly either," she told him, slowly whirling around. she went to hold up the bag in her hold," so um, where is she? and why aren't you with her?" after all she had noticed that they were a packaged deal. something that she didn't understand but she wasn't going to rain on their parade. at least not yet and she took a deep breath," i guess i'm going to bother you until she gets back." mostly because she did not want to go home.

this isn't easy for the siren. hearing the words alone would be enough to make her run, slip out from under him and leave his head pillowed by the couch instead of her thighs, but he's coupled his words with a look so soft it could melt glass.
lor wants to run. normally, she would.
but the bump on his head looks red and painful, and her fingers have already numbed from holding the pack of frozen peas. she wishes she could numb her heart like usual, right now. instead, it thrums treacherously.

“Hello darling,” Tristan slid into the booth across from Ezra. His sources had informed him of the other man’s presence and he had been hasty to address it. For all their history Ezra remained a thorn in his side, the biggest problem being he hoped he didn’t need to clip it. Their history was vast, and Tristan would rather Ezra remain around just not currently. Not when their ideals were so vastly different. “I’m certain you’re aware I’d rather you not be here, and I’m not simple enough to ask why you are.” It was all too obvious for Tristan to point it out. “What I will ask, however, is what we shall do about it.” Two opposing sides and views. Unlike the Mikaelsons however, Tristan cared for Ezra’s wellbeing enough to want to find a peaceful resolution.

a matter of even mere weeks ago billie never would have dared do such a thing. pleasure had been an unfamiliar concept to her for so long. it was why she had decided that day in her room that she wanted to get to know her body. never had she thought it would lead down the path that it had and with ezra, of all people. her face flushed as he admitted that he still thought of that very day," you-you do?" she remembered just how flushed and frustrated she had been. it had led her to not even caring about the fact that he had seen her in such a state.
she didn't dare try to pull her hand away or stop moving the wand against herself. already she had the feeling by the end of everything she was going to have left a mess on his sheets. her whole body felt like it was on edge. a whimper escaped from her as she realized that her orgasm was approaching. she barely heard what he was saying as she cried out helplessly. her hips bucked from the bed towards the toy as she grasped at the sheet.
it took her by surprise when he pressed his face into the pillow her head was cradled on. let alone when she realized he was laughing. something that she had not been expecting but she was a bit pre occupied. she was gasping for air, attempting to allow her body to come down from the incredible high. her eyes widened when he pointed out what she had done. before she could mumble an apology, he was slapping at her tits which made her gasp.
she barely realized that she had started to loosen her hold on the wand. though she quickly tightened it as she resumed the same circular motion against her clit. each slap that he delivered caused her to cry out as she wiggled on the bed. billie could barely focus on one single thing given the sensations that were hitting her body. her nipples were practically poking through the delicate lace of her bra. her hips arched up as she felt how wet she had become," pl-please!" she couldn't control herself as she realized that due to the amount of teasing that she was already close.

"Make it make sense?" Ezra was dumbfounded, but not angry anymore, she didn't have it in her to yell and kick and scream at Caleb once she was at his feet. Her shoulders shrugged just for her hands to drop down to slap against her hips in forfeit.
"I don't know Caleb, I really don't, but if all you're going to do is make me feel like shit then don't give me a ride. Whatever you do though, just make up your mind." Sharpened acrylics pushed through her dark hair, combing it away from her features before gesturing towards the road, "You offered, but if it's not what you want to do, then don't... I'm not going to climb onto your hood and claw my way in." Not that she wouldn't have in the past, or hadn't, but tonight she just didn't have it in her.
"I was here having dinner and a drink, just like most people Ezra." Caleb's expression was flat, trying to hold back his anger. She got under his skin in a big way, and it made him a little crazy. "I saw you here with him and I wanted to give you a heads up." And that was it. He was done with it. He wasn't going to cause a scene, he wasn't going to be trashy enough to get into a screaming match with his ex in the middle of town.
He was pulling out a pack of cigarettes, digging in his pocket for a lighter, as he walked out to his truck. Leaning against the side of the vehicle, he was trying to clear his head, inhaling deeply, before releasing a heavy plume of smoke. Then he heard her voice and the small bit of peace he'd managed to find evaporated.
"Why would I offer you the damn ride, if I thought it was wrong for you to take?" His eyes were narrowed, and he straightened his posture. "Tell me that. Make that make sense for me. And then I'll give you a ride."

Between the graphs and spreadsheets glowing on his tablet, Ezra caught it—table seven's numbers weren't adding up. The pattern bugged him, but Ms. Mehra's presence pulled his attention away from the numbers. He respected her approach to running the family business, the way she made every decision with precision. God knew he preferred reporting to her over dealing with some of the other family higher-ups who treated security like a suggestion rather than a necessity. "Found something interesting in last night's take from Lucky 8's high stakes room that might need your attention," he told her, switching screens to highlight the suspicious transactions. Their working relationship had evolved into something professional and while she was trying to make him more comfortable around her, he couldn't allow himself to do that. "Three separate buy-ins from the same source, each under reporting limits but following the same timestamp pattern we caught last month." He frowned as he added, "Whoever's trying to be clever should know better than to reuse their tricks in my house."

Sabine tells Hera about her decision to be trained as a Jedi and is met with a cold reception.
*All three parts are uploaded! I’ve made them into an ongoing series on AO3 since each different mini-story will center around Sabine and Ezra but also feature different rotating cast members of the Ghost crew, and others who know them, in various scenarios. These mini-stories will also take place during different eras, ranging from Rebels to Ahsoka to beyond. This story series will be ongoing because I always have fun little story ideas for the Ghost crew that aren’t big, epic one-shots or multi-chapter stories, so keep on the lookout for more to come!

everything had been last minute that day. she had been getting ready to head to the store when landon told her he had guests coming over. apparently they were going to have a poker night and he had volunteered to host. suddenly the small list of items she was supposed to buy and had tripled in size. of course that meant she had to wait for him to hand over the cash. of course he had told her that he wanted the house spotless and for her to not embarrass him by looking sloppy. she had spent a good three hours in the store making sure to get everything. after that she had to rush home to make sure to get the beers in the fridge.
everly didn't even want to be doing any of what she was. it was her first day off from the diner after a seven day stretch. all that she intended on doing that day was getting some much needed rest. instead she found herself getting food ready and then rushing for a shower. by the time everyone was arriving she had managed to get most things set up. she had met landon's new friends only once before. he had taken his project car into the garage to be worked on since he didn't know how to do something. she thought the whole thing was a waste of money since he didn't really know much about cars but she kept that to herself. of course landon had been the one to let everyone in since she was still getting everything ready.
she barely even realized that she wasn't alone as she arranged the vegetables on the tray. the blonde only just happened to glance up to see ezra standing there," oh! um, i didn't see you there," she admitted," um, did you need another beer? or something? the food is going to be out in a few minutes." for some reason she felt nervous around him and she wasn't too sure what it was.
