Making a separate post for this so my other tutorial doesn’t get too long.

You see the weird lighting they have on their models?

To fix this, right click their model and choose “Add override material”. It’ll look like nothing happens, but now go to Show in Element Viewer>Model 

Now you will see all these file paths, go and press the plus near the “Materials” one.

It should drop down all the model’s texture paths like this.

Now right click on the first one, the hair. Click Add Attribute>Float

A window will pop up, add this.

Now do that to all her texture paths, except the eyes, eyeshadow and eyeshimmer ones. Those ones are fine the way they are.

Her model will now look like this in lighting.

Do the same thing to Robbie’s textures, except the eyes and eyeshadow.

They should both look like this now.

If all the materials disappear from accidentally dragging them around, like this:

Just go back to the animation set editor and right click the model, then click remove override materials. Click add override materials again and follow the steps from before. It should be all good now. You can use this on any model that has this weird lighting effect in SFM.

You also might notice their clothes look like this in the back, even with lighting off.

Right click and go to render settings.

Turn off ambient occlusion, this will get rid of a bunch of shadows in your session. It will look like this.

You can do it that way, or create a animation set for your camera.

Then slide the SSAOStrength slider all the way to the left. It’ll have the same effect.

The shadows will still be a bit weird, but just add a light and move it around until you get something like this. I had to add a light and move it under them to fix the shadows.

Have fun making renders with them! Luckily Impa’s model doesn’t have problems with shadows, so you don’t have to turn off AO for her if you’re just using her model. (You can still mess with the ambient occlusion sliders in the camera animation set to change how the shadows look if you want to.) Just follow the steps to fix the lighting on her like before and you’re done!

How do you think Ethari managed all that emotional stress after Runaan's heart bloom sunk?

Poorly.

In this sketch of possibly the first time he knew Runaan’s lotus had sunk, he wants to reach into the water, but we know he never did. It must not be allowed or something. But he’s wishing desperately to undo what’s happened.

If you zoom in and squint just right, it’s possible that Ethari’s tearing up as he builds the arrow to send to the dragon queen. His body’s just so sad, even though his heart keeps talking to his husband.

We don’t get to see Ethari’s expression here, before he breaks the ghosting spell. But I bet it’s as sad as the one above, if not more so.

He gets an eyeshimmer three different times, too: when we first see his face, when he tells Rayla that the Dragon Queen is dying because she’s lost her whole family (and he knows exactly what that feels like), and the last time she looks at him. He’s constantly on the verge of tears.

He’s working because he knows it’s important, for those around him if not for himself. But he’s in mourning for his husband at the same time. This beautiful, gentle soul lost his soulmate, and he’s alone in the world, or so he thinks. He’s on autopilot. Stumbling through each day like an automaton, trying to remember all the little tasks that used to be so easy, trying to remember to choose to do them now.

He’s gotten dressed. Good job, Ethari. Did he have breakfast? We don’t know. Is that sword actually a commission or did he just... start forging it so he didn’t lose his mind with grief? Is he sleeping, can he rest? Probably not a lot.

He’s forgetting the rules--be polite, don’t temporarily unghost your daughter--because maybe deep down he’s realizing that the rules aren’t quite as important as he thought. Rayla’s soft dad is the only dad she has left at the moment. When Runaan’s strict adherence to the rules got him killed, Ethari may start to think that he can do anything he wants to do. What are they gonna do to him that’s worse than what’s happened?

Ethari’s heart is as big as Xadia. He just wants his loved ones to be happy and healthy. And now Rayla needs him, more than ever. He’ll be working hard to make up for his mistake in ghosting her, until he feels he’s finally done enough to fix it. That’s the Moonshadow way.

But without Rayla to live for... I’m really not sure that Ethari felt his own life was important enough on its own to keep the lights running for much longer. That’s what happens when your heart goes out into Katolis, and it doesn’t come back.
