This was a NaPoWriMo poem from last year that I have to say is One of my realist pieces pertaining to religion and the "so called Christian." NaPoWriMo 2018 Day 21 "Hypocrite" Does your God know what you do once you finish keeping your seat warm in the church pew? Does your Jesus hear all the gossip you spread and the mess you love to start? Dragging names through mud telling lies faster than your split tongue can wag but you go to church on Sunday mornings so you are convinced that your God will forgive you I wonder how the pastor's wife would feel if she knew what goes on between the pastor and you You think she'd be as quick to forgive as your Father God? I trip off the sinful things you like to do when you think no one is watching Six days of transgression One day of repentance but that one day don't mean a thing when you ain't right within You throw Bible verses like frisbees blow trees like a down south tornado then post on your Facebook page "Look at God, won't he do it?" I had two great features this week. First I would like to say thank you to Ieshya Parker for allowing me to blaze her mic at Lyrical Rhythms L.A. this past Tuesday. You know I got mad love for you, DJ Q-Nice and the Hot and Cool Cafe. If it weren't for you Ms. Parker, I may not have gotten to where I am now. Thank you for giving me my very first stage to grace. Second, I would like to thank James Jones for the wonderful opportunity to read this afternoon at the Studio City Library. I enjoyed meeting and listen to the other poets who shared their scribe and I appreciate you spitting the poem, "Stax, Atlantic and Motown." It took me down memory lane.
