I am thinking about the crescent scar on the roof of his mouth that he got when he fell with a straw between his teeth and how it felt to run my tongue over it. How it felt to taste the moon. This electrifying sequence was captured yesterday from Ibiza, an island in southeastern Spain. What looked to be a bother on the horizon, though, turned out to be a blessing. The composite picture features over 200 digitally combined images from the same location over the course of a night. The full moon is seen setting as it faded to red in Earth’s shadow and then returned to normal. Although the next total eclipse of a large and bright supermoon will occur in 2033, the next total eclipse of any full moon will occur in January 2018 and be best visible from eastern Asia and Australia.

Black, White and Color All Over

Figured I’d kick-off the first decor post of the new year with a home tour and a colorful one at that! I’m blaming my momentary attraction to color on vacation/beach withdrawal. When it comes to design, I think “character” is this undefinable notion yet when you see it, you can tell right away whether it’s there. This home has tonnes of it. From the black glossy floors to the colorful eclectic touches, it’s bursting with so much energy. What I also like about this space is that it’d be fairly simple to switch up the look. Remove the colorful accessories and add lots of organic wood elements and you’d have a totally different vibe against the black and white color palette.

형은 곧잘 철지난 농담을 길게 늘어놓고는 했다. 나는 그런 그를 무척 구박했다. 구박하는 재미가 있는 형이었다. 구박을 하면 소녀 같이 부끄러워했다. 그게 보고 싶어 더 구박한 적도 있다. 솔직히 정말 재미는 없었다. 서로 닮은 점이 많았다. 형이 말하기 전에도 내심 알고 있었다. 그래도 형이 그렇게 말할 때는 싫은 기색을 냈다. 괜히 그랬다. 형의 방송 복귀작에 게스트로 다녀왔다. 나는 형에게 무조건 여기서 망가져야 사는 거라고 말했다. 녹화 내내 놀려먹었다. 재미있었다. 그렇게 놀려먹은 게 형을 마주한 마지막이었다. 그렇게 놀려먹은 게 말이다. 끝나고 나오는 길에 형이 1차 체중 감량 끝나는 날 양꼬치를 먹으러가자고 했다. 그러다 중간에 문자를 보내왔다. 킹크랩으로 메뉴를 바꾸자고 했다. 나는 그러자고 했다. 형은 약속을 지키지 않았다. 며칠 전 꿈을 꾸었다. 형이 사람들 앞에서 내게 면박을 주었다. 왜 전화하고 문자하고 오버냐며 막 소리를 질렀다. 나는 부풀리지 말라고, 전화한적 없고 문자만 하지 않았냐고, 그러게 왜 나이 먹고 사람 걱정시키냐고 또 구박을 했다. 아침에 일어나서 나는 형이 금방 일어나겠거니 낙관했다. 어제 늦게 형에게 다녀왔다. 얼굴이 작아졌더라. 형 퇴원할 때는 살이 확실히 빠져있겠다고 나는 농을 했다. 그리고 귀에 대고 몇마디를 했다. 못들었던 것 같다. 들었으면 그 재미없는 아저씨가 이럴 리 없다. 반드시 일어나 써먹었을 거다.

오래 전 형이 결혼식 축가를 불러줬었다. ‘일상으로의 초대’였다. 형은 노래를 부르는 동안 몇 번이고 음이탈을 했다. 나는 그걸 가지고 두고두고 놀려먹었다. 부끄러웠다고 말했다. 사실이 아니었다. 나는 여태 단 한 번도 그렇게 아름다운 노래를 들어본 적이 없다. 그걸 끝내 말해주지 못했다. 내내 그걸 흥얼거렸다고 말해주지 못했다. 목덜미를 잡아쥐듯 굵고 낮은 저음으로 시작하던 재미없는 농담들이 자꾸 귀에 걸려 떠오른다. 나는 절대 울지 않을 거다. 나는 결코 울고 싶지 않다. 구박을 하고 싶다. 다시 한 번 형에게 구박을 하고 싶다. 그러나 이제는 더 이상 그럴 수가 없다. 구박을 하고 싶어도 그럴 수가 없다니 너무 폭력적이라 막 얻어맞은 것 같이 뺨이 얼얼하다. 친애하는 친구이자 놀려먹는 게 세상 최고로 재미있었던 나의 형 신해철이 세상을 떠났다. 조금도 슬프지 않다. 나는 화가 난다. 보고 있나. 보고 있느냔 말이다. 형 진짜 싫어. 정말 싫다. 짜증나.
